I've been making so many logos for this damn truck and haven't been pleased with any of them, but I think I might be onto something here? The font feels too "sports-y" though imo, Idk. I'll see if I can find another one 🥴

I was browsing around in SimPE when I stumbled upon trash can related textures, and to my very pleased surprise, they were high quality! Guess I've never payed much attention to them :-D

Anyhow! I have poked at the soda (or whatever it is, breakfast replacement?) a bit but I haven't been happy with it at all, so I tried slapping the trash soda's texture onto it and YES! Now I just have to clean it up a bit - and I THINK I've found a soda-can-lid-texture I like too (that has also been a hassle, all textures are too realistic for my taste but now, I think I've found "the one"!)

Sorry for the trashy (no pun intended lmao) previews, but if you've followed me for a while I think you should know by now that there ain't no quality around here kind sir 🥴

I can't believe Maxis threw such a cool design in the garbage bin... literally! And I'm really liking the new designs for the delivery service, specially the darker shade of blue! Very nice detail with the employee ID badge =D

Hello anon! :-D hahaha ikr?! I really like the trash-soda-design too! It fit like a glove on the mesh so I'm surprised they didn't use it. Very happy to hear you like it!! :-D

As for the delivery default, glad you like that as well! \(★ㅂ★)/ can't take much credit for the idea, I found TNW's default and fell in love with the color right away! So I copied the color, hehe (♡˙ㅂ˙♡)b

I think the little employee badge (which I snatched off of the pizza delivery texture) was a nice detail to add (glad you think so too!), it looked very stretched on the fat morph though so I'll have to edit it a bit more :-) oh and also, while we're on the subject:

Changed font once again, but I'm thinking of removing the text actually. One side of the truck will display the text flipped (since the truck's sides are mapped the same, and it didn't look good when I tried fixing (i.e flipping) one side bc of the grunge textures on the edges) but no text might feel.. a bit empty? Or? 🤔 EA's original logo doesn't have any text but it is a bit bigger and "more".

I've tried writing a logo myself, but it doesn't look like simlish.. hah (; ಠㅂಠ) perhaps I could give it a try again.

I absolutely love Episims' book defaults, but I also like some of EA's original book textures, so I decided to make my own defaults using both EA's and Epi's textures! Then I can simply get the books I don't re-use from Epi's default as deco instead (yay!) :-D

I used EA's "reference" book's texture as an overlay and re-sized it back to EA's original 256x256 size, since my other defaults will be using that size :-D

I'm really liking this! I got the textures from one of verankas flowers (plant 5), I also fixed the mapping problem (<- image snatched from this upload by Michelle)

got rid of the horrible shadows under the leaves (like wtf EA) and re-mapped the tree a tiny bit. Not sure if I should re-use EA's bark texture or go with the brown one?

I kind of like EA's leaves so I think I'll replace the grass(?) with my version and make the flowers a recolor instead. I fixed the pot's mapping and hafiseazale's CEP-extra issue too :-D perhaps that's already been fixed by now though?

the pot is from trapping's julstjärna but slightly edited by me. I really like how this one turned out :-D

The hair color turn on/off icons look like this:

and I think I might have found another type of icons for said turn on/offs! I found it in the UI file from apartment life:

I wonder why they didn't finish the brown/black ones though? anyway, the style is the same as the fitness icon:

I get why EA went with mannequin icons instead, but I'm thinking of bringing back these faces bc I quite like them! I will give them different skin colors instead though :-D

I love @episims' turn on/off mod (you should grab it if you don't use it already! :-D) but unfortunately ts2 doesn't have the appropriate icons for many of the new turn ons/offs, hence epi using the ts4 ones, which I think are nice! But I do miss the ts2 icons. I talked to epi and they gave me some encouragement so I started poking around in SimPE for various icons to edit/re-use, and this is how it's looking so far! :-D

Also made a version for the people not using clean ui:

from left to right: life skills, poor, fatness, fitness, animal lover, good dancer, rich, vampire, beard, glasses, makeup, talented, good reputation and bad reputation.

Please excuse the awkward and uneven space between the icons, I'll fix that + remove the shadow on the icon for "talented".

Anyhow! My questions/thoughts:

1. does my choice of icon for "life skills" make sense? is it fitting?

2. should I use my re-creation of ts3's icon or EA's dog+cat icon for "animal lover"?

3. should I use the "good dancer" icon seen above or this one?

4. should I use the reputation icons above or this?

For the other turn ons/offs I swapped them back to EA's original (the alien icon is new though!)

Modding help?

If you've followed me for a while, you might remember me rambling about my idea of modding the cowplant so sims must have a muffin in their inventory to be able to feed the cowplant (meant to be used with my default for the leg of a lamb) so I talked to @bstu a while back and he actually ended up creating the mod for me 🥺🥺🥺 it works like a charm, thank you so much once again! ( ´༎ຶㅂ༎ຶ`)

I was going to share it right away, but then I remembered that the muffin is something kids bake, so how are adult sims going to get muffins? I mean, children can bake them and then gift them to people but eh! So I cloned EA's lemonade stand, tried my best at editing various BHAVs in hopes that would turn it into a muffin stand - but no, it did not haha. Not surprised, since I'm no modder 🥴

So.. *ahem* I'm wondering if anyone out there would be interested in making a functional muffin stand for me? I.e modding the lemonade stand so kids can sell muffins instead of lemonade? I already have the mesh and texture ready (-ish):

I'll happily do something in return! My skills are limited to mesh and texture things though 🥺 or, if anyone knows any nice tutorials out there I'd love to read them!

I totally understand if no one wants to make it for me, then I will put this idea on the shelf (like I did with my "dogs fetch the newspaper" mod haha, I wonder if that will ever see daylight) until I can do it myself, but it doesn't hurt to ask, right? (♡˙ㅂ˙♡)

Believe it or not, but this actually makes perfect sense! The chips bag has morphs, and when a mesh has morphs they need to have the exact same amount of vertexes as the main group (aka the mesh). Since this is not always the case, it's solved like this :-D it's the same with all foods in game. Small, tiny duplicates of the main group can be found inside them (or outside, why EA decided to put some outside I have no idea). Here are some examples:

spaghetti, hamburger (prepboard) and hotdog.

Though I admit, EA could make them smaller and hide them better in the chips bag's mesh 🥴

I still need to fix the top-texture a bit, but I think my cleaned-up trash texture is looking kind of good ( ⊙ᴗ⊙)b I don't think I will use this as a default for the breakfast replacement (second image) but instead make it a default for one of the soda textures.

Isn't the top-texture just perfect in terms of not being too realistic, but not too cartoony? It took me ages finding a texture fitting that criteria, and this one is just *chef's kiss*

For some reason, I'm not feeling my default at all anymore 😩 when things are blurry, it somehow... looks better?? Or maybe not better, but edges and solid colors look better. Maybe I should try using real-life labels instead of making my own (since the ones I made look a bit too "clean" for my taste) but idk

One random question

I've come to the realization that my food project/overhaul (or what to call it) will be kind of texture heavy bc I give most of the items their own texture resource. So my question is, which way is best (memory-wise) for the game?

give every "item" their own texture but never go above 512 in size (i.e more textures but smaller images. Most images are about 128 or 256 atm)

smash together as many textures I can in one image and put them in 1024x1024 textures (i.e fewer textures but larger images)

I don't really know that much about how the game handles textures etc, and I have yet to experience the pink soup so any insight would be wonderful 😬 (I'm planning on making a "low-res" version of my overhaul as well)

I think I'm satisfied with them atm. The text on the cookies are bothering me a bit so I might give it another try in the future, but for now: they are done!

The coca cola texture fit like a glove, my soda-design (second gif) looks like it belongs in ts3 and the third one is a weird mashup of fanta's logo (I tried to turn it into simlish but... yeah.. it didn't go that well as you can see hahaha) and some random lemon/lime texture I found. I like that lemon/lime texture a lot but something is... bothering me.

The last gif is the trash-image I cleaned up and showed some months ago. I have one more texture to default but I'm out of color ideas 🤔 maybe pink? yellow? green?

I can't decide wether to give the second soda a plain or patterned background though. Thoughts?

Hi Vegankaktus, I want to ask you about how the "PROJECT: FOOD" is coming along? I love the "100% Vegan" sticker on the milk carton, it's a nice touch, but the English word "VEGAN" would look better in a simlish font that you can find on MTS. Are there any plans after you finish the food DR project? And also, how did you found that exact Macaroni image that maxis use? Good day

Hello absolutelydandyza! :-D my food project is going well, thank you for asking! I'm unfortunately very slow, and don't have as much freetime anymore which is a bummer 🥴 as for the vegan sticker, I tried all of my simlish fonts but I didn't like the look of it (yeah I'm very picky). I might give it another try in the future though :-)

This sticker and the coca cola texture are the only designs in my food overhaul containing non-simlish letters, since I want to use simlish as much as possible!

After I finish my food project I'm thinking of improving every clothing in the game. Keeping the Maxis-feel but editing them slightly (i.e shoeswap, edit colors, edit textures etc). I've started slighty with this project with my NPC defaults and my plan is to finish NPC's first and then move on to clothes :-D

The macaroni image! I have absolutely no idea tbh hahaha. All I did was search for "macncheese texture" and after some hours of skimming through images trying to find a fitting texture, I stumbled upon it and immediately I was like:

At first I thought surerly I was only imagining things. I mean, there's no way I could find the exact same image Maxis used back in 2004 - but turns out I did 🥴

Look what I found! Turns out sims were originally able to get a glass of water from the fridge? I assume they moved that interaction to the sink (a very wise choice haha) but I find it funny they "left" (?) the interaction in the files, and just wrote "you shouldn't see this in game" instead of removing it

I know absolutely shit about coding so maybe they did it this way because it's easier and faster than removing it?

I love your tattoo so fckn much! Maxis did us dirty by not including bonehilda and the tragic clown in the best game of the series 😤. Your hair looks FANTASTIC btw 😘

I know right?! Thankfully midge re-made Bonehilda for ts2 here, and there's actually a clown nose in the program files (credit to memento for finding it) but our dear tragic clown is nowhere to be found :-(
