Little Caged souls au comic! A tiny backstory from Doloresđ«¶

The 4th drawing scares me ngl đ do you guys want me to do the others too?
HAPPY MOTHERS DAYY!!

Thinking on how much presentâs Dolores gets in La madre silenciosa au đ girl gets a load full on everything
Pepa is surprised obv, felix is more confused by the situation, Alma is kind of pissed that Dolores got many presents âfor no reasonâ, Isabela is jealous but also worried that she will get overwhelmed, julieta too is surprised but she finds it sweet, AgustĂn is shoooockkeddd
Later on when they ask her about it:
Julieta: whats with the present?
Dolores: hm..early birthday presentsâŠ
Them:
Pepa: your birthday is in 3 months..
Needless to say that Dolores loves Motherâs Day :D
Abuela Alma!

Her younger self is so silly and just being herself, her now self isnât bad either, maybe she really was too harsh on mirabel and often misunderstood something but she was also a grieving woman with 3 BABIES- i mean- she definitely changed after the movie! Plus her character and story is actually great :)
has anyone else noticed how isabela and mariano together looked so similar to young alma and pedro?

i believe the reason why alma was putting so much pressure on isabela to marry mariano - beyond his likely being the strongest, most handsome and healthy man in the village, paired with the most perfect and feminine woman in the family - was also his resemblance to her late husband.
she was trying to live her life through isabela, using her like a puppet and making choices for her that she wouldâve made in her personal life with pedro, had she not lost everything at that age. next thing you know sheâd be telling the couple when to try for kids and have a list of selected names ready, strongly âsuggestingâ her favourites.
deep down she probably felt like exerting that control over her granddaughterâs life helped her cope and made her feel like she was somehow reverting the loss and tragedy that happened to her and her husband. giving them a second chance.
this was most likely a deliberate choice by the character designers, to add yet another layer of complexity to the relationship between alma and isabela. it feels like too much of a coincidence.
Question
Does anyone have a picture of the concept art of young Julieta, Pepa, and Bruno? Someone posted it on tumblr and I can't find it anymore cuz' I forgot to save it!!
It was the three of them in their white clothes opening their own doors for the first time. Alma was in the background.
edit: found it!!
Edit: oh, I forgot to attach it, sorry for making y'all wait <3

Aren't they adorable!!???
am i actually insane or has no one ever mentioned how an older pedro madrigal would look literally just like pedro pascal

After watching Encanto, (by the way it's a REALLY good movie) I see how it's a catharsis for many Latino families and people. I would also like to add my two cents in as a South Indian. I don't really understand the interfamily trauma that divides. Like for most Indians or Desis, some people try to fix the trauma that they face and try and fix it for their kids, but the stigmas that the older generations had felt make the elders force the younger ones to repress it. So I see Encanto as the pressure that the family is placed under, simply because of "What others would think." We see Alma try and maintain the one image of a perfect gifted family, even when everything is crumbling (quite literally even). The way that Mirabel tries to make everyone see it way very jarring for me because I felt like someone else could understand it. Alma needed to show that everyone is strong and happy, even at the expense of their mental health and inter family relations. Mirabel needed to show her family they don't have to be confined to the role that the village and her family set on them.
When the whole village comes together despite seeing their humanness, I was really emotional. This hit home for me.
