Characters in hoods in FE games are generally customizable, because I guess it’s too much work to implement the customized unit in cutscenes, even though they’re rendered everywhere else in the game? But Anankos is NOT a customizable unit. Like Mikoto, he looks the same regardless of how Corrin looks. So, if there’s a normal face under that hood, why would he keep it hidden? Nah, there is some straight up lovecraftian shit he’s hiding under there. It makes me sad that there’s SOOO much potential for interesting character design in Fire Emblem, but it’s forgone in lieu of bland, fanservicey prettiness. I can even see Tiki and Nowi looking cute- their dragon forms are pretty normal. But Duma? Anankos? CORRIN?! Corrin’s quilin form h a s n o e y e s
Headcanon- Corrin and Kanna can sing Lost in Thoughts All Alone and use the same waterbending powers as Azura and Shigure, better, in fact, with less severe consequences. My reasoning? In Hidden Thruths 2, Anankos says, and I quote, "However... Only those with the same ancient blood could unlock the song's power." Now, he means the same blood as Cadros, the first king of Valla, right? But Cadros' blood is nothing. The game says that the ancient dragons chose the human generals who led their armies to rule, and gave them their blood (dragon's blood) as tangible proof of their right to rule. Cadros must have just been a soldier until Anankos gave him his own blood, which imbued him with the power to use the spell Anankos created. Corrin has that "same ancient blood" flowing through their veins directly, what with Anankos directly being their father. Think about how diluted Anankos' blood is in Shigure, and tell me Kanna, the direct grandchild of said god tier being, doesn't have a better propensity for revitalizing people by singing? Now, I'm not saying they could sing the 4th verse without dying, but they could probably sing the rest of the song twice without dying, considering the draconic blood in them is so strong they can turn into dragons. As a human, a human who's weak enough to get killed by his own curses, Anankos can give life to barren wastelands, eternal youth, or perpetual continuation of one's bloodline. I think his kid has the stamina to cast a spell twice.
Since of COURSE IntSys isn't going to put the corrupted character *I* want in Heroes, I'm forced to make him myself. As usual. While I love the character design of Fates, I also found it just... mind numbingly dull in places. I mean, Takumi is a literal fucking Z O M B I E in Conquest, and the best you could do was make him pale and add some purple fire? In a game rated T? Well, aren't you creative... *slow clap* Since Gunther is not a mindless puppet of Anankos, but the actual living vessel for this eldritch god, I want to make him a little more... interesting, but trying to keep him similar to how he is in Revelation makes that difficult. I mean, if I had my way, he'd look like something out of Fraken Fran, but then he wouldn't be "Gunther", sadly...
Screw you, IntSys. You'd probably have given him boring art anyway.

I FINALLY finished this. I’d have done it sooner, but I was too sick to even bother. And, as you can tell, I didn’t feel like painting the patterns on the Anankos hearts. So yeah, have a Corrupted Gunther. This would probably be his critical art, because it’s a bit too much for a standard (Fire Emblem) character. And even though I came up with dialogue, I don’t feel like being fucked to think up stats (and yes, it’s very much inspired by Wesker because I thought that was the entire point if DC Douglas voicing him)

Weapon: Dragon Breath (mt- 16 Allows unit to counterattack regardless of distance) (Refined effect- Inflict Res-5 on foes within 2 spaces through their next actions at the start of each turn)
A slot- Dragonskin (Nullifies “super effective” damage. Uninheritable)
B slot- Quick Riposte 3 (Unit automatically makes a follow-upattack if attacked at HP ≥ 70%)
Special- Luna (Resolve combat as if foe suffered Def/Res -50%)

No, I'm not dead (I'll outlive every one of you whippersnappers), I'm just... not here. Due to a horrible combination of personal shit, I haven't drawn anything in months, but I was determined to produce SOMETHING for Inktober. I painted this with india ink and JESYS CHRIST, NEVER AGAIN.
The fact that IntSys had all the plot points necessary to make Gunther an amazing villain in Rev and chose not to is proof to me that they're simply incapable of decent writing. Their villains are shit, so there's no hope of a decent narrative from them (here's hoping 3H has decent gameplay, at least...)
