My thoughts on The Acolyte since it's over...

I mean...I'm not complaining or being political here but...it's meh...

Everyone knows the director and who she had worked with beforehand, but I won't mention his name because he was a scumbag...this show could've been a WHOLE lot different if there was a different director for this show...and I just watched it because I needed to keep something on my mind over the summer...yet summer is still happening and July is yet to be over...

Did I waste my "brain cells"? Maybe... Was I so desperate to fill the empty void of Star Wars? Yep!

Everyone has their own opinion...this is mine...if you don't agree, don't spread hate on me just because...if you enjoyed the show, OKAY! I did too to an extent...but that doesn't mean I don't HATE Star Wars! I want Star Wars to come back with something good...the 2nd season of Andor is supposed to come back next year and I'll be willing to watch it...Andor in general is a great show next to Ashoka...

But overall I would give The Acolyte a 6/10!

I know that we’re all super busy, and we’re all sick of Star Wars, but it’s really bothering me that so many members of this fandom stayed up till 3 AM to watch Kenobi, and every week #Obi-Wan Kenobi was on the trending page, and now it’s been weeks and a majority of this fandom haven’t even seen Andor.

It’s just a discrepancy in effort, and it bothers me a lot.

I’m not saying people can’t be busy, I’m not saying you HAVE to watch Andor, but so many people went out of their way to watch Kenobi, so many people went out of their way to make Kenobi trend, and now Andor is out and it’s phenomenal and it’s lead by so many people of color and so many people won’t even turn up at all.

Having a Mexican lead in a Star Wars series is a phenomenal milestone. Show up for it.

Having a Star Wars series that discusses racism, colonialism, industrialism in a meaningful way is a phenomenal milestone. Show up for it.

Just. Please show up.

Imagine messing up that badly

Imagine Messing Up That Badly

Look just say there is no new news for Andor s2, or don't talk about it at all. Don't have your intern who badly read a Wikipedia summary about the first season say all the things we already know, and screw up several stuff.

Imagine Messing Up That Badly

They better not be screwing up this original work of art to make it more like that garbage. Part of what makes Andor so special is how different it is. Not too mention, those shows had terrible action, you're telling me Andor's more realistic and deeply felt fights will be replaced with crappy choreography and meaninglessness?

Of course not, right, this person's just talking about random shit with no idea of what the show is even like.

HE WAS VERY PROMINENTLY IN THE FIRST SEASON! YOU DIDN'T WHEN READ THE SUMMARIZATION PROPERLY! WHO ARE YOU AND WHY AREN'T YOU FIRED?

So, I've finished watching Andor like two days ago and I think it broke me. Now I no longer care about the force, lightsabers, bounty hunters and all that crap. All I care about is :

-Mon Mothma's family problems

-Cinta and Vel's romance

-Kleya being a bad bitch

-Melshi getting enough sunlight and sleep

I cannot help but like Saw Gerrera.

He’s an evil character certainly. Saw targets civilians, kills and tortures POWs. He’s a mess of paranoia who serves as example of a person who’s worst aspects have been brought to the fore by war.

But.

Saw Gerrera is willing to throw down as both terrorist and revolutionary. He fights the empire relentlessly, harnessing anti imperial sentiment and ACTING on it. He’s willing to free wookiees on Kashyyyk when no one will (even though he abandons them later). Speaking of, his organization is diverse, in aliens and himself being a person of colour. Giving the impression of them in the Star Wars galaxy being lumpen proletariat. The people who’d be most disenfranchised by the Empire representing more of a people’s struggle. Plus in Andor he is shown to be unwilling to work with human supremacists which gets him points from me. Don’t work with racists it ain’t a good idea (plus it’ll turn out bad, remember what happened to Walter White in Breaking Bad?).

My problem is that Saw’s less revolutionarily nuanced then I’d like (Byproduct of not being written by people who know what actual anarchists are I guess). He’s more caricature of violent revolutionary descending into paranoia. This is really expressed by the fact that violence is Saw’s main tool and he and his partisans do not embrace a diversity of tactics. It hurts their credibility and isolates the Partisans as terroirists.

Still I love him with Luthen, I appreciate his struggle and I acknowledge his faults. Regardless of them though, it’s important for the rebellion to have someone who will fight the empire for the right reason. Because the empire is evil and facist. And it is of import to note that Saw acts (irresponsibly maybe) but in service of The Cause, helping the oppressed by hurting the system of oppression.

(I will not credit him with Tech’s death. Saw wasn’t responsible for the Batch and it was pure coincidence they ran into each other that day. Saw did his mission, fucking shit up. If you wanna credit anyone with Techs death give it to the people literally shooting at them. The Empire. (plus It is good whenever someone try’s to kill Tarkin.))

Rise

Rise

——

“It's easy for the dead to tell you to fight—and maybe it's true, maybe fighting is useless. Perhaps it's too late. But I'll tell you this…if I could do it again, I'd wake up early—and be fighting these—bastards…from the start.”

“…Wasn’t she great?”
