He has to laugh a little. "Ah, that Mephisto," he grins, stopping with Jaden as well. "Always a few steps ahead of us to get the best possible outcome." He had done the same thing with the Okumura brothers. Set everything up so carefully and seemingly randomly to get what he wanted. "That's the King of Time for you."

"Y'all gotta be more careful around the kids though." It doesn't really need to be said but Lightning still wants to say it. "If Leland finds out your connection to Dennis, it's gonna blow up in your face. Bit more than it already has," he chuckles, indicating to the bruises.
"Noted." And he meant that genuinely, despite his prickliness and reluctance to speak at length with the Arc Knight. That sort of plan, insane as it may be, lined up better with how Silas first presented himself to Jaden than everything he was trying to pull now. A man looking to empower the people so they could all face the threat of demons as one, together, rather than leaving everything to the True Cross wouldn't really work the likes of Lucifer. Not unless he wanted something out of the King of Light, like that Gehenna Gate the Illuminati funded and M.E.C.H. built as a symbol of their collaboration.

"Somewhat." he sighs and finally comes to a stop, giving up on his attempt of leaving right away since Lewin won't let him go in peace. Might as well give the guy what he wants and just be done with all this bullshit. "I started having my doubts a while ago, but Sir Pheles brought Dennis here before things got out of hand for us. Sir Pheles then approached me about my connections to M.E.C.H., because of our botched attempt to scout around the gate, and we made our arrangements. I provide Intel on M.E.C.H., and he keeps Dennis safe from the war with Lucifer and Satan."
"That's good," Lewin smiles. "Don't let Rin know he burned a guy though. Don't think he'd take that very well." Teenagers are dramatic little things and he has a feeling Rin Okumura hasn't taken a human life yet. At the mention of a familiar, Lightning gets curious. "Oh? Any chance I can meet the little fella?" If he used the demon to get Dennis and Rin out without being seen, it has to be a kin of Samael.

It's good to know they have another Spy on their side, especially since Illuminati is starting to branch out into smaller organization, like M.E.C.H. or Bright Future.

"I know." He doesn't appreciate the joke either, but he lets the comment slide because that is a problem he'll have to deal with later when people start asking what happened to him. "I've never brought up my personal life with any of the other agents though, and I never will. As far as they know right now, Dennis is a just some random, dumbass kid from this academy who somehow managed to summon the son of Satan and made an escape with him. The other agent stationed to watch him burned in the flames during their escape, and I made it out unscathed because I used my familiar to get out of the room safely."
Which is mostly true. No one else needed to know that Jaden cracked the other agent's skull in, then nudged their unconscious body into the fire to hide the evidence of his attack.

Lewin blinks. "Why are people attacking the coal tar?"
Lewin nods, looking a little confused why he's being asked that. He tilts his head and looks up at the teenager. "Do you live here too?"

Aw too bad, he really wants to meet this mysterious familiar. For something to transport multiple people quickly it has to be powerful! "Yeah, sure," he grins, giving the man a pat on his back. He could put a Sylph Bell on Jaden, but that might get detected and it would probably break the tender trust he and Sir Pheles had going.

"If Leland asks about all that," he says indicating to the many bruises, "Just say ya caught me snoopin' around and had to shake me. He's probably gonna believe that." The old exorcist alsways seemed to dislike Lightning, so it might be easy to put the blame there.
The suggestion - or whatever it is; Jaden doesn't know, doesn't care either - is logged with a grunt. Although shielding children from the harshness of reality never pans out well, this is one point the agent can agree on to some degree. Death and murder are heavy burdens to have laying on one's mind. Jaden already had the burden though. Rin didn't need them.

"No." If Lewin pays attention to Jaden's exit he'll catch a glimpse of that demon he's so curious about anyway. "Are we done here? Because I need to get some ice on my face before I swell up so much that I can't even fucking see where I'm going."
It means nothing to Lewin. He doesn't seem that bothered about it though. "You are gonna be an exorcist?" It seems most people around this town are doing that. At least the ones he meets.

"Yup!" Dennis smiles as he further explains, "I'm a student at the academy here. I'm in the 1D class." If that means anything to the lil guy at all. Probably not, but...
Lewin blinks. "You can make contracts for other people?" He has never heard of that but he doesn't know a lot about how exorcists work and learn. He digs into his messy hair and drags out a peeved Sylph, letting it go so it can fly around his head. "Does that mean I can give you my Sylphs?" he asks curiously.

"Uh-- Kind of." He's not sure how to explain this one because he's not really sure how the position works. "Technically, yes, I will be an exorcist, but I'm really looking to like, take a training job. Something that will let me just work on taming demons and make contracts with them for other people. Something along those lines anyway."
Lewin makes a thoughtful sound, looking at his Sylph swirling around. He is curious how it would work. So curious he almost considers if he should try it, but then he won't have the Sylphs anymore. It's a dilemma that has him frowning in thought.
Ultimately, he decides he wants to keep the Sylphs more than he wants to figure the mystery out right now. So he instead looks up at Dennis. "Can you tell me when you find out?" he asks.

"I.. think so? I'm not really sure. It was just something my boyfriend mentioned once while we were talking about what we're gonna do when the exam rolls around." Which was creeping closer and closer everyday now, but Dennis tried not to think about it any harder than he had to.
He almost instinctively sticks his hand out to catch the sylph too, but stops himself when he remembers how they had cut him last time. Best not to repeat those little, minor injuries. "Probably though. I'm not sure how it works. I'd have to ask my teacher when he's--" done being cursed to childhood again "--back from a mission."
"Okay." As always, Lewin doesn't think to say thanks. But what an interesting aspect of demons... Something he has to read about. Now he just sits and watches his Sylph fly around.

"...yeah." Dennis barely manages to deliver in a flat, monotonous voice and only the barest hints of amusement. "Sure thing. Not sure when he's getting back though so it might be a while."
Lewin watches the man leave, carefully, hoping to maybe get a peek at this familiar. And his persistence is rewarded. It's hard to make out the details, but Lightning is pretty sure he sees a dark crow which expands into black wings. Oh-ho definitely a king of Samael, probably more space than time. What a rare familiar! He's envious.

He's so focused he doesn't notice the older man walking up from behind. His reactio is predictably small, giving Shiro a smile. "Oh, you're back!" he says. He hadn't been sure if he would have seen Fujimoto again, but considering Mephisto was the one to send him away, perhaps he shoud have assumed the King of Time would have a plan to get him back.
"A mess of his own making, really," Lewin shrugs, looking to the previously lost priest. "Couldn't stay away too long, could ya?" he grins.
Jaden lightly grunts at the impact, then glowers at Lewin while he steps further out into his own space and away from the Arc Knight's reach. Touching is not easily welcomed by this one, no matter how innocent the gesture is - or isn't. The trust he has in any given is fragile enough as is, but the trust he has in Lewin right now is at rock bottom. Jaden is all too aware of the fact that he's on enemy territory at the academy, even if he does have a special arrangement with Mephisto. Rin's beating was a stark reminder of that, and so Jaden is reluctant to let his guard drop again around anyone that isn't Dennis.

"Sure." The offered excuse is a nice touch. However, it will go unused. While it's believable and highly plausible, Jaden doesn't want to hassle explaining how, when, and where the two of them could have run into each other to the likes of Silas. It's just easier to say he got in a bar fight, or something along those lines.
Since he finally has Lewin's blessings to finally go though Jaden resumes his exiting walk away from the academy. Then, once he has several feet of distance between him and Lewin, he snaps his fingers, summoning Krobus. The void-colored, chibi crow may be difficult to make out in the dark of the night, but there's no missing the sudden expansion of his wings that quickly engulf and swallow up Jaden in a matter of seconds either, disappearing the two of them to who knows where in the world.

"He's quite the character." Shiro muses as he strolls up from behind, coming to a stop just beside Lewin. "Caught in quite a mess too, don't you think?"
Oh, hey, Lewin is back!
Dennis has questions, even if he's sick and extra sore because of it. Stupid flu virus. "Mister Light, is now a bad time to ask about some tamer stuff?"
If Dennis think it's a bad time because he's sick, he's forgetting how little Lewin cares about cleanliness. The Arc Knight is just glad the kid seems to have moved past that whole little hospital thing.

"There's never a bad time for questions," he grins as he plops down next to Dennis. "Shoot."

"Great questions!" Lewin grins to the kid, none too worried about the cold he seems to have. "Demon farms were more common back before the Blue Night, but there are still some around. These days they're mostly used for training up lower level demons for simple work, like greenmen to help rebuild a forest after a fire. They can also be trained to be easier to make contracts with but you can't draw contracts for other tamers. You can, however, temporarily give another person control of your own familiars!"
"As for the summoning sigil, I could tell you buuuuuut," he says cheekily, "it'd be more fun to experiment, wouldn't it? It also depends on your familiar and what they might want."
@lewinthelighton from here

Dennis was more concerned about the Arc Knight's time table and workload, especially since Lewin's lost several days to a random spell. But since he doesn't seem pressed about anything the teen will step into his office without much hesitation. He'll keep some distance though, to avoid spreading this random, legitimate flu virus to Lewin.

"I was wondering about... well, a lot of things." He feigned a laugh and smile while he rubbed at the back of his neck for a moment. "Like-- Rin mentioned one time how there's tamers who work for the Order just to build and draw up contracts with demons, and I was wondering if that was a real thing or not. And also like-- summoning sigils. Does their potency or effectiveness change at all if I make one up with a pen and paper versus just blood? Or does it not really matter? Cause I know the symbols matter, but like, if I have to use blood on a piece of paper to draw a demon in then using nothing but blood would kind of be like a bigger attraction, right?"
Lewin nods about the farm. It was generally low level because mid level started to get difficult to control and it wasn't the smartest to raise demons like that inside the barrier.

At the mention of Rin's summon, Lightning perks up. Oh he had question about that but hadn't gotten a chance to ask before! "Did you chant anything?" he asks excitedly, temporarily setting the initial questioning aside.
This is going great! Dennis is getting a good grade in personal research, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve!
"So it's-- the farms, I mean-- they're mostly for low level kinda stuff." Which makes sense, especially now when he thinks about it more in hindsight. Familiars could be loaned out to people, but they would always answer to one tamer and one tamer only. And, as Lewin had put it in their previous conversation, they didn't double up on tamers either. It was a rare thing, which--
Dennis dismisses the thought with a shake of his head. He doesn't want to go there again.

"I'm.. not sure, actually." The teen admits slowly, rubbing his fingers together while he thinks for a moment. "I mean, I think I have a pretty good idea of what the rats want these days. Rongros hates being bored and likes to fight, Vorkith is always pretty hungry but otherwise chill, and Kulmeth is generally the most relaxed one of them all so he's just like, super easygoing. But I'm not really sure how I managed to summon Rin either, other than I used my blood to make my sigil and every powerful symbol I could think of within it because I wanted something strong to help get me out of trouble."
As always, Lewin is observant. And he easily picks up on Dennis' discomfort though he doesn't realize the cause until the kid quietly admits what he was chanting and Lightning grins. He's embarrased!

Lewin continues without giving Dennis a chance to recover from the sappiness. "Do you remember what you sang? Is it something Rin also knows? Or was the lyrics anything that has significance between you two?"
"Oh! Uh-- Yeah. That. Um--" Suddenly everything in the room but Lewin is very interesting to Dennis and he looks at every single thing that he can just to avoid meeting the Arc Knight's intense gaze. This was something they needed to discuss, but it was also something Dennis felt kind of embarrassed about because...

"I just.. I was really tired and kinda delirious when I called him, so I didn't really chant anything. I just sang some lyrics from a song that makes me think of him a lil, and then he was there."
Lewin grins. Well then, it seems Dennis followed the steps for demon summoning that Lewin had simplified for him. He had just never expected that it'd work on a Nephilim. A shared chant, a strong connection and some demonic blood... Fascinating! Lewin leans back a little, considering the implications of it all.

"And you two are dating, yeah?" He has picked up a little bit of that, or at least implications of that though he hasn't had it fully confirmed. It would definitely help if they had that connection. Lewin leans forward again, putting his chin on his fist with a teasing smile. "And you looooove him~?"
Very much so. Even after admitting his 'chant', Dennis still has trouble looking directly at Lewin and settles for just looking around the Arc Knight, like at his shoes, the scarf around his neck, the wall behind over and over his shoulder; all things that are close enough to him without actually being him.
It's pathetic, and Dennis knows it, but he's got to process bury his shame first before he can properly face Lewin again.

"Y-Yeah, I do, a-and he does. Or, should. I-I dunno if he actually does or not, but we listen to a lot of music together - especially when there's a ton of drama happening around him. It's like, our quiet time thing, ya know? So I'll share my music with him and.. I guess these lyrics could kinda apply to us? But like, it'd be super dorky if they did, cause like..." Dennis gestures around vaguely, failing purposefully to use his words and further explain himself because how does one explain that he and his boyfriend have a sun-moon motif/dynamic going on that they half assigned to each other-half got assigned to them without being full blown cringe about it?
The answer: you don't.
A grin is plastered on his face, quite pleased that he managed to decipher the two teenagers as well as he had. Lewin's thoughts are moving fast, considering if there has to be an emotional component for summoning a Nephilim to work. Perhaps them dating is kind of like a contract between them?
"Let's try it then!" Lightning says excitedly, clapping his hands together suddenly. "Let's try to summon Rin!"

Dennis would like to die now. Something quick and painless, although anything would be better than this self-inflicted torture going on right now.
"Yes. To both." He squeaks out, barely. Then, in an immediate contradiction to his shy tone, he barks out, "But that's just-- That's something totally different and not at all what I was getting at! I probably couldn't even summon him again if I tried!! Especially if I did everything all over again but used an actual chant instead of some stupid, cheesy lyrics!!!"

Sir Pheles is definitely gonna win.

He's got twenty bucks on Shura. Any takers?

"That's only 'cause he's scared of ruining his suit. Watch, if she actually messes with it, he's gonna snap."

"No way. She's already got him on run. He backed out of his threat as soon as she started drawing her sword."

"Ya can't win if they don't fight, that's cheating!"

"That still counts as a win for her though and thus a win for me."
