I love your durge x Gortash so much! I really enjoyed how Gortash reacted badly (tho valid) to Durge talking to Raphael in your comic, shadow of Durge. Not many people explore that angle regarding the ramifications of Gortash’s experience in the house of hope impacted him as a person.

I love exploring the humans interactions in BG3, and I think Gortash is one of the most interesting villan, do I decided to explore his character.

I think the fact that his family literally sold him to slavery, ending in the house of Hope as a child did traumatized Gortash a lot.

I think he didn't talk about this experience because that made him feel humiliated, and he just vaguely told Durge that he doesn't like devils, never explaining why.

(and look at his shoes, the have littles devils on it. as if Gortash want to squash them)

And that's miscommunication was the problem.

we see in the game that everyone is suspicious and untrusting about devils.

my Durge though his dislike was just the norm, so, calling at devil and see if they could help him to control the dark urges was not that big deal.

Raphael is a bitch, but a very intelligent bitch, and he had a hand in both Ketrich and Gortash past, and I think he checked on them from time to time to see if there was something interesting goin on.

so, think when he hear THE bhaalspawn head of the murder cult need some help just because he catched feelings for the little runt Raphael had as a slave in the past?

Raphael HAD to put his hands on him, but when my Durge refuse in the end to make a deal with him, Raphael took a little petty revenge, making sure Gortash knew about it, taunting him about the "deal" Durge wanted to do.

Gortash, didn't take it well, and he confronted Durge, angry as hell that Durge called a devil, THAT devil to resolve his problems, even after all the time he told him to never trust a their kind.

the strong emotions both had were so intense, that they didn't listen at each other, and that brought a crack in their relationship and the future lobotomy of Durge.

Hello I just started following your page because I am a sucker for Durge and Gortash XD I saw the one comic about how Durge felt bad about killing Orin, who he saw as a little sister, and it is an interesting dynamic. I am so used to them being hateful rivals, so seeing them as siblings is a nice concept.

It does make me wonder what their life would have been like if Durge had forsaken his father and took Orin away from their hellish life? I can see them not giving up murder but still having the protective and wholesome sibling relationship (with a bunch of dead bodies following their wake) >u>

so, I would like to say that the idea of the two of them growing outside the cult was something interesting and something that would have been like a good ending, but, unfortunately, very unlikely.

in my opinion, that would have never happened for two things:

-the cult would never give up searching for them. they are literally the children of their god, and both Orin and Durge would never had a save place to hide because of them. and without counting the the creepy butlers that follows them no stop , and of course, Bhaal himself.... there was not chance to escape alone. (Durge barely escape Bhaal's total control thanks to the the parasite)

-most important, is that Orin would never escape the cult on her own choice. different from Durge, she was born to it, she never experienced how to be outside of it. she would have fight Durge with teeth and claws if he decided to run away and take her with him.

she would always choose Bhaal over Durge.

But those are my thoughts, let's just enjoy the idea of them growing up free (apart from the dark urges) .

I think they would grow up as mercenary or assassins. they are good at killing, and my Durge would be the leader, having a moral compass more nice than hers, and in general be more smart and understanding of how things work.

so, an AU were Orin could be saved is not really believable, seen her fanatic behavior, but just for the love of the the 'what if' i think she will join the fight against the absolute only because her brother is set on doing it.

just like befriending Minthara, not everyone will be ok with her ( the companion she kidnapped and Jaheira they will be against her and I think the approval rate of Durge will take a heavy hit because of that), but I think that everyone would do an effort to stand her, just for Durge.

2. So, their relationship is a lot complicated, there were a lot of secrets and things that both avoided, but none less, it was deeply forbidden Romantic relationship ( in a creepy and violent way, even if their relationship was much more sain than what we have with Ascended!Astarion).

we shouldn't forget that their gods are always watching them, their disapproval heavy on their shoulders, the main hater Bhaal himself, that he couldn't stand the way Jacq was in love.

Pre-tadpole Jacq is terrified to disobey too much Bhaal, and he tried all excuses to make sure Gortash wouldn't die to soon. this brought him to broken his promise with Orin, without even thinking of it. when Bhaal say no, those big feelings he had for Gortash were so intense that makes Jacq thinking about taking the place of his father, to be free and became with Gortash the new gods of the new era... all for Gortash.

their relationship is like an incendio, gigantic, unstoppable, instable, and destructive. they were in love, they would burn the world for each others.

6. So, in my cannon, Gortash love running bath to Jacq, pampering him as much as Jacq allow.

Jacq had lived most of his life in the sewers, were igiene was..... lacking, I dare say. the last real bath he had was when he still was with his foster family. Jacq, different from a lot others cultist, actually cared about his igiene, and for cleaning himself, he used the sea water and the less than clean sewer's water.

So, when Gortash discovered this, he kinda trowed a fit about how Jacq was a walking biohazard,and made him a bath. And after that, it kinda became an important part of their routine, were Gortash help clean Jacq, brushing his hair while they talked about mass murder and world domination, and about their day, who they killed, who they blackmail, etc ..

So, Sceleritas had always feel ostile towards the rare relationship Jacq tried to have over the years, and more so with Gortash. he whined continuously to Jacq about how he deserved better than a human Banite, how he should have killed him a after his usefulness was finished, believing that Jacq could continue the plan without him in his eyes.

but in my canon, despite all, in a moment of sincerity, when Jacq asked him to stop reporting every moves , Sceleritas told him that it wasn't their choise to make, they are bound to do that for bhaal.

BUT most important, after having seen how much deep Jacq's connection with Gortash was, it was him to suggest to make a petition to Bhaal to make a unholy Bhaalist mariage (were they stab each others in the end of their life, very romantic)... just when Orin was spying on Jacq.

Sceleritas tried to shape Jacq in the perfect chosen one, and at the same time he tried to make his young lord happy without breaking the rules.

(I associate Sceleritas with the annoying overbearing drone of the animated movie LEO)

13. I'm a sucker for fanfictions, the trope of 'oh no! one of them is captured/injured, what the other will do?' is my favorite.

Of course there is the Kinky shit, love it, but most of all, I like when it concentrated on their twisted love and their way of. affection.

Sooooooo, Jacq have a deep bond with all the companions, each one of them differents and unique, but between all, his bond with Astarion is the deepest. I know it may seen a cliché, but this is not a coincidence, he is the only one who can understand fear and bloodlust more than everyone.

in the beginning their bond may have been a scam from Astarion, a way of protection, but after a while Jacq understood what was hiding behind it after spending a bit of time talking with Astarion.

the hunger for blood, the fear they both felt, the unbearable weight of the shadow of their masters, the knowledge to never be really free until facing their abusers, that's what bond them so deeply.

it's funny to see that even if their personalities are really differents (Jacq have a nice hero personality, astarion have a sassy bitchy personality) they got along pretty well, dark humor an jokes they...

and don't forget one is a vampire and the other is a cannibal, murder buddies ❤️

ohoohohoh! that's a really interesting thing, how Jacq would be as a companion. I admit, this is a thing I thought a lot even before reading this message, and @popex-springpinter thanks you so much for your interesting questions!❤️

SO! I had imagined that the player meet Jacq on the beach, or among the goblin corpses near the mind flayer stuck in the wreckage.

He is extremely confused, covered in blood and a bit dazed, with his life bar in half (he almost split his head in half by hitting it in the nautiloid's capsule to get out).

For a moment jacq almost looks like he's about to attack, but he shakes his head and stops.

Here there is the possibility of making a perception roll, and so we understand that he is confused and that it was as if an instinct was pushing him to attack.

I imagined the dialogue and the questions, which vary on: did he kill all these people, if they are okay, or what happened (or attack, it depends)

Jacq takes a while to answer, as if his voice had not been used for a while, and he answers that he doesn't know, and that he woke up on the beach with no memory and with all the dead around him.

He asks if he can be updated on what happened to them, and they need to be explained what coelomorphosis is, and then he would like to get rid of the parasite, and suggests that they continue together to find out what can be done.

if you accept him into the group, Jacq is bold, energetic and wild, kinda sweet and friendly, but sometimes , in some interactions with NPCs, he give some disturbing comments that show his dark side, commenting in a bloody and creepy way.

he is an exceptional shadow druid warrior, with a strong inclination towards arcane magic.

He have no idea of what privacy is, and he is prone to doing strange and stupid things (like drinking from auntie ethel's well, or licking a dead spider).

As said before, he is a cannibal (he and astarion have no problem eating/drinking from corpses), has no idea how to cook (he has no problem eating raw meat), likes alcohol, but has a nearly non-existent tolerance (he gets drunk easily, but drinks little, due to the severe headaches he has).

It is easy to gain approval with him, you have to be a mix between heroic, kind and cruelly bloodthirsty and chaotic.

when you have a good enough approval(25), Jacq reveals to you that he has no idea who he is, and that his memories are gone (he just see red and the only real ones he has are some faded memories of his childhood, before bhaal), but more important, he has dark instincts and very bloody thoughts, and has no idea why.

(I'll leave Jacq's romance sheet aside, or I'll never finish it)

is canon the sleepwalking murder of the bard, and Jacq wakes the player up in panic asking for help. here it's very similar to how you react with Astarion when he tries to bite the player, you can help him or chase him away (or attack him).

If you have a high approval (40) Jacq reveals to you the visits of Sceleritas Fell, and the things the little monster says.

As with Shadowheart and Astarion, you can help Jacq become a good person (repressing his dark urges and be free of bhaal), or encourage him to embrace them (and pursue the destiny of bhaal's chosen one).

The second act is interesting in his storyline, because Ketheric and a shitload of people recognize him, but of course no one really says anything (Jacq is very uncomfortable but at the same time enthralled by the moonrise towers, and he's looking for answers).

The dialogue with the bone sister is very hard for him, and if the player tries to defend him from her, there's a good increase in approval.

THEN, then, let's not forget the part with the ancient brain and the three chosen ones, Jacq dissociates for a moment, looking at Orin and Gortash, and feels anger mix with pain and longing, with a bonus of a terrible headache. He almost blows up the hideout when he tries to get closer, the player prevents him.

I imagine that in act 3, when he regains some of his memory, jacq will find himself in conflict with karlach about gortash, she wants to kill him, he instead wants to try to reconnect with him.

here the player will have to choose whether to kill gortash or not, and if he finally does, he will lose a lot of approval (-10), and if the approval is not high enough, he will leave the group.

(wow, i wrote a lot, i'll stop here for now. i hope this is enough as an idea of ​​how jacq is as a character....)

So! the little comic was a what if, in my canon Gortash and Jacq never meet as kids, but for the sake of continue the what if.

Gortash was sold to the devil when he was young ( in my canon, he is 8 years older than Jacq) and because of that, he never see the him grow to be the buff guy Jacq will be. so, it was really a surprise that the little younger guy who saved his life became an gigantic sexy tiefling.

Jacq is the biggest tiefling ever seen, thanks to the draconic and devils genes Bhaall mixed with his undead flesh. he is the best of best, he is physically perfect.

hello Anon, thanks for the question, and, my idea of grooming on Gale's relationship with Mystra is kinda complicated, ear me out:

first thing first, Gale was a prodigy even as a young boy, and we understand that as a magician (similar to all the people who follow a religion) he worshipped Mystra, and she was always a presence in his life.

people will say that just because he was an adult, the grooming part doesn't count, but this is wrong.

Grooming someone mean that we have power over him, influence, and we have a big part on the shaping of the mind of the person, and Mystra did all those things (remember Gale have a deep bond with the weave than others), maybe not necessarily over present when Gale was a child, but more than there when he became her lover.

the power dynamic in their relationship was deeply unbalanced, she had all the power, while he was literally at her hands and feet to worship her.

Gale had so much stress, feeling never enough , and we see that if we try to romance him, he is trying so much to impress TAV/DURGE, because he believe he need to do more(after all, romancing a litteral god...lot of stress).

because is feeling of not enough that he will absorb the globe and Mystra will chase him away like nothing, and don't let me start when she ask him(not really her, she send someone else to tell him, like sending a sms, what a bitch, do it yourself coward) to kill himself like he meant nothing.

this is shadow grooming and nothing will convince me differently.

Imagine how awkward it must be for Jaqc and his group to arrive at the Temple of Bhaal and have an entourage of fans waiting for him like he's Tylor Swift.

Not only do I want to be the pure son of Bhaal but I want to remember his atrocities as if it were the coolest thing in the world. And the worst thing is that you can't kill them because for them it would be a gift from their hero.

Jacq does wear that dress well! And everyone reaction is hilarious XD (Halsin got such a laugh out of me, that I did like Astarion XD) I will be unhelpful to Jaheira, and instead give fashion advice! Jacq dear, your skin is light green, and the dress tone is light blue, it lack contrast and doesn't highlight your silhouette as good as it should! Dye the dress either a deep burgundy to harmonize to your hair, or royal blue to contrast to your skin, you'll be "Ma-gni-fique!"

yeah, Jacq is very big, much bigger than an average tiefling. Bhaal doesn't know how the races are physically made, so he just mixed draconic, devil and tiefling trait, and made Jacq.
