Hey, look at this:

Hey, Look At This:
Hey, Look At This:

Ivanʼ eyes are more towards purple, and Natashaʼ eyes are more blue. Draw your own conclusions if you want. But I remember that artists often draw Belarus with blue-purple eyes, in a dark and cold shade. And Ivanʼ eyes are brighter. Here are screenshots in another episode, if you want:

(One of the reasons I find this theory difficult to apply to Hetalia is because of the different drawings in different seasons/episodes. Character design changes sometimes really confuse me)

Have you thought about what eye color says about a character?

I came to the conclusion that a shade of eye color can indicate certain traits quite a long time ago. And frankly, now I think itʼs a little silly. I donʼt want to say much, so here are some summarized notes:

Deep, saturated, intense color can mean emotionality, openness, activity of the character. It can also indicate that the person is not very good or often appears so in the eyes of other people. He may not have the most pleasant character, often thinking about something with a sinister face.

A faint, light shade may indicate indecision, self-doubt. If it is also warm, then it can say about such traits as kindness, lack of conflict. This person can be easily suggestible. If it is also cool, then the character is calm, objectively assessing the situation, controlling his emotions. He can be stingy with the manifestation of feelings.

Okay, some Hetalia.

Iʼll add some screenshots. But I also believe that it will be fair to pay attention to both anime and fanarts of artists. Why? Because the artist, when drawing a person, kinda feels his character and selects colors that suit him, trying to convey his traits. I emphasize: this is solely my opinion.

Alfred. He has a bright blue eyes. He is active (hyperactive), loud and a very bright personality in his own right. Not to notice or not to hear him- what the hell are you talking about? Itʼs impossible. Alfred will always make himself felt.

Ludwig. He has a calmer, lighter and cooler shade of eyes. He is always collected, competent, responsible, pedantic. He is able to objectively assess the situation and command others, keeping emotions and feelings under control.

Matthew. He has light purple eyes; violet, as they say. Light and warm shade. He is kind, but modest and inconspicuous. Ivanʼ eyes, in comparison with his, are dark and deep.

I donʼt remember very well all the details about characters and their traits in Hetalia, I thought about it before, pretty long time ago and I have a shitty memory.

Why I hate hetalia Belarus design:

a confession of a person with a partially Belarus family.

***

Because it's a literall tracing from the soviet school uniform.

The soviet school uniform had started as, in fact, an analogue of the gymnasium uniform of tsarist russia. Even small experiments with the style or length of the dress were strictly punished by the school administration. In addition, it was obligatory for girls to wear braids with bows. No haircuts were allowed.

It was troublesome for the girls to wear those uniforms. Snow-white cuffs and collars had to be removed every week, washed, steamed, and sewn back into place. The apron was worn black with a brown dress. It did not look very spectacular, but it protected the clothes from ink stains. On holidays, they wore a white lace apron, so it was necessary, for example, to go to the line on September 1.

My mom, who was born in the 80s, said, "There was a terrible poverty back then. Now you have the opportunity to wear different clothes, but we had one brown dress, which we took care of as best as we could. My mom hated it because it quickly got "bubbles" on the bottom that couldn't be ironed, so she made steaches on the fabric to make a pleating, washed, dried, ironed, and then ripped the steaches off. Every time. Like a good mom, she wanted me to look fashionable, so she bought different guipure collars and cuffs and also sewed them on and ripped them off, sewed and ripped. Teachers were surprised by how clean I looked, but it was just hours of hard work. The dress was from a pretty warm fabric, a wool, so it was quite hard to study during spring or early autumn - it just was very hot, and girls got sweaty fast.

We also had pins: the average ones and cool ones. The average one was a metal star with old ugly Lenin on it. The cool one was from transparent plastic - and it had a baby Lenin on it. It looked like a little angel surrounded by flowers, so it wasn't that ugly. My mom once, miraculously, changed my average pin to a cool one somehow."

Soviet school uniform is just another symbol of the russian regime.

Hugs

Natalia had found herself a nice little corner to sit down, out of sight of most of the people at the usual after meeting party. Her bosses had told her to attend and interact more with others at these parties, even though they were well aware of her dislike of those unplanned events. She preferred to get the next plane or train back home and leave the others to waste their time.

Lost in thought about how she could have been reading through the documents she was holding in her hands instead of actually reading the contents of said papers, the blonde woman almost failed to notice the sudden presence next to her. Almost, and she was ready to make threats of any kind to chase away whomever disturbed her from her work.

She didn’t get any real chance to strike before her wrist was caught in a strong, firm grip that could have actually hurt her. Belarus knew that the moment she looked up and saw that the hand holding her arm belonged to her older brother.

“Natasha,” he started “I know you’re supposed to be talking to the others.” She stared up at him. “They wanted me to be here, so here I am.” Ivan shook his head and tried again to convince her. “You’re cannot hide here in this corner. Our sister is worried about you.”

Looking back at the crowd she simply admitted the truth to her beloved big brother. “I don’t want the be here and talk to them.”

Russia pulled her close against him into a nearly crushing hug. “I know, little sister.” Before letting her out of his tight grip while wrapping an arm gently around her shoulders and dragged her along to all the conversations he had with other nations that evening.
