that sept scene gave me the ick...like girl just admit you was wrong. Weren't you just talking about how you "sinned" and it's your fault that Jaehaerys was dead. You had guilt then , why not have guilt now? Everybody is just so fucked up this season and here for it , though. Also she realized she messed up but, said it was too late now, everybody has to die with zero purpose...where are we going with this? The writers are leaving me confused and it's so messed up on Alicent and Rhaenyra halves because, they both suffered for no absolute fucking reason but more so Alicent. A child bride for nothing , suffering for no reason , all her actions come down to nothing. She was just used , manipulated, and abused. I understand how in denial she was due to Rhaenyra's truth.
Sorry, are we for really real saying that this entire clusterfuck, the Targaryen invasion, their complete inability to actually manage the fucking land that they conquered, their nonstop succession crises, Jaehaerys' shitshow of a succession crisis that he himself created, Viserys' shitshow of a succession crisis that he himself created, Rhaenyra's shitshow of a succession crisis that she herself created by having three illegitimate children and putting them in line for TWO of the most powerful seats in the realm, yeah so THAT is all completely fucking irrelevant and it all comes down to ALICENT HIGHTOWER misunderstanding Viserys' final bedtime story and refusing to admit that she made a mistake?!?!?!

not to nerd out or whatever but as an interesting set design note for the newest hotd episode, im pretty sure some of the wall art in the brothel scene is inspired by/recreations of some surviving pompeii brothel friezes! this image in particular:
right is a still from hotd; left is a frieze from pompeii dated to the 1st century AD depicting polyphemus and galatea
could just be a coincidence but the colouring, hand placement, hairstyle and draping fabric all seem to suggest the set designers of hotd were inspired by the frieze!
