How Do They Apologize To You When They Make You Upset/Mad Part 1/3- Azul Ashengrotto
You were waiting inside Mostro Lounge, hoping one of the twins would bring your meal, as you have been craving for Jades mushroom soup. You swear to yourself that you would never eat mushrooms ever in your life, but Jade was changing that as his cooking skills were amazing."Koebi-chan~." Turning around, you saw Floyd running at you with his arms wide open; ready to give you a giant squeeze that you didn't mind too much as you loved getting hugged. Floyds arms wrapped around you in a tightly as he placed his chin on your head: "Hehe~, so happy to see you Koebi-chan~. I see you here almost everyday, did you miss me and my brother that much~? "Haha, Hi Floyd. Well, I cam because I'm addicted to your brother's cooking." You muffled against Floyds chest. "Aww. So you didn't want to see us?", Floyd said sadly as you felt his arms loosen. "No Floyd. I'm always happy to see you, Jade, and Azul-senpai. Also, you know I enjoy hugs, and you give the best ones." You moved your head to look up at Floyd, smiling with pink cheeks. Floyd gave you his famous sharp teeth smile, and hugged you tighter to his chest; rubbing his cheek against the top your head like a cat: "Awww.. Koebi-chan is so kawaii~. If you ever want a hug from me, don't hesitate to ask~."
"Hehe, Floyd, I know how much you love to hug Y/N, but they can't eat with you squeezing them." A voice said behind you both. Peeking your head from Floyd's chest, you saw Jade smiling, with your meal. "Hi Jade." "Good afternoon Y/N, Here is your order of mushroom soup. Enjoy.", Jade then placed the bowl down on the table and gave you a bow like a proper gentleman. Floyd released you from his hug, and left to go do some work, not before ruffling your hair with his hand. Jade, however, stayed to tell you something: "Oh I had forgotten to tell you, Azul wants to have a private discussion with you." Confused, you asked Jade why, but Jade didn't know as Azul only said that to him and no more. Shrugging, you thanked Jade for telling you and proceeded to eat your soup with a smile, as Jade gave you a smile back and left you alone to enjoy your meal. After finishing your meal, you headed to Azul's office, and knocked on the door. You heard an enter and made your way inside. Azul was seated at his desk, and looked up from his work, and spotted you: "Ah, Y/N, I take it Jade mentioned to you that I wanted to discuss something with you." Nodding, you made your way closer to his desk, and sat down on one of the chairs: "What do you want to talk to me about?" Azul smiled and leaned back on his chair, placing hands together on his lap. "It has come to my attention that you have been coming to the lounge a lot lately." You looked at Azul with a shy smile: "Yes I have. You can thank Jade's cooking for that." Azul chuckled and gave you a business smile. "Yes well, I assume you are here for another reason." Tilting your head, you looked at Azul, confused. Smirking, Azul said: "You're here for a deal, aren't you." Shocked, you shook your head at Azul saying that wasn't true. "I'm surprised at the lengths you would go to make a deal, but I'm not surprised as humans tend to be blinded by their own greed or envy, including you." Azul moved his hand to open a drawer from his desk, pulling out a golden rolled paper and quill, and placing them on his desk "What do you say? Would you like to make a deal?", Azul said as he leaned back against his chair. Casting your eyes down, you were in utter disbelief that Azul would assume that of you. "I refuse.", as you pushed the contract away "Don't lie to me Y/N. The twins mentioned you asking for me whenever you come to the lounge. Don't be shy. Tell me what you want?" Azul said. "ENOUGH!", You slammed your hands on the desk, knocking the quill to the floor, and shocking Azul as he jumped up in his chair. "THE REASON I COME TO THE LOUNGE IS BECAUSE I ENJOY THE FOOD HERE, AND THE LEECH BROTHERS ARE MY FRIENDS. I ASK FOR YOU TO SEE HOW YOU ARE DOING AND NOT TO OVERWORK YOURSELF. BECAUSE I CARE ABOUT YOU! Once you finished yelling, you turned around and ran from his office, leaving behind a stunned Azul.

Azul was still in shock from what just happened, but he slowly came to his senses and leaned on his desk, placing both of his hands on his face; mumbling what have I done. Another knock came from the door, and both Floyd and Jade entered into the office, looking concerned at what just happened. "Azul? What happened with Y/N? They left here in a hurry with tears on their face.", Jade said as he made his way over to Azul's desk. "Nee~ Azul~. What did you say to Koebi-chan?", Floyd said as he got on his knees and placed his arms on the desk, laying his head on them. Sighing, Azul explained to them what he said to you, assuming the reason you kept coming to the lounge was to make a contract, but that was not the case. Floyd looked at Azul with a blank face: "You are a baka, Azul. Koebi-chan cares more about us and you then a stupid contract." Jade nodded his head at what his brother said: "I must agree with my brother. Y/N would never make a deal with you Azul, no matter what you promised them. That's what makes them special." Azul sighed and pinched his nose with his fingers: "I need to find them an apologize to them." Azul got up from his desk and was about to leave, but Jade stopped him from leaving: "As much as I want you to go an apologize to Y/N, we are still in the middle of service. Also, Y/N might want to be left alone for a while, so you can go see them after we close the lounge." Azul gave a sigh and nodded his head, going back over to his desk to finish the work he was doing, as Jade and Floyd both left his office.
* 5 hours later- current time- 8:00 PM**
After closing the lounge, Azul set out to look for you. He checked the hallways and classrooms, but he had no luck. Last place to check was the dorm pool; where most students would go for swimming lessons. Azul looked inside and spotted a figure, sitting at the edge of the pool with their feet in the water. Looking closer, he realized it was you and called out your name: "Y/N!". You jumped in shock, and saw Azul on the other side of the pool. Not in the mood to speak to him, you got your feet out of the water and started to sprint to one of the doors. "WAIT Y/N!", Azul yelled out, but you ignored him. Unfortunately, your feet were still wet from the water, which caused you to slip and hit your head on the floor. Knocked out, your body slowly slid back into the pool; sinking further and further down to the bottom. "Y/N!!", Azul screamed as he saw your body slowly sinking down.

Azul knew he had to save you, but he couldn't save you in this form since he still wasn't use to swimming with human legs. Azul was conflicted because in order for him to save you, he would have to turn into his Octopus form; which he absolutely detested, but if he didn't, you would drown. Azul pulled out a potion from his pocket, that would cancel out the effects of the human form, and turn him into his Merman form. Downing the potion, Azul jumped into the pool and began swimming towards you at lightning speed; as his body transformed. Azul found you and wrapped his tentacles around you. He then began swimming back up to the surface. Both of you reached the surface, with Azul still holding you with his tentacles, but you were still unconscious. Azul put his hand on your head, feeling a slight bump from where you fell, but luckily there was no blood. Placing his hand on your cheek, he called out your name: "Y/N please wake up."
Slowly you started to wake up and began to take in your surroundings: "Huh? What happened?" You realized that Azul was holding you, while floating in the pool: "Azul?". Azul gave you a soft smile and said that you accidentally hit your head when you tried to leave and ended up sinking down the pool, since you were knocked out from the fall. Listening to Azul, you felt something touching your legs, so you looked down only to realize that Azul was in his octopus form and some of his tentacles were wrapped around your legs and torso, holding you up. Azul realized you noticed his octopus form and turned his head away in embarrassment: "I-I apologize you have to see me in this form, but I had to save you from drowning and my human legs are useless in the water." You continued to look at Azul as he was still looking away from you, but you just smiled and ran your hand on one of the tentacles holding you: "I'm not disgusted with you Azul. In fact, I find you very beautiful in this form." Azul froze as he slowly turned his head back towards you, as you moved your hand from one of his tentacles, to his chest and then moving it up to his cheek. Blushing, Azul pulled you closer to him and laid his head on your shoulder. "You're the only one who has seen me in this form and not look away in disgust" Azul continued holding you tightly as you listened to Azul. "I wanted to apologize to you Y/N. I had gotten so use to making deals with students and taking their talents; that I never gave the idea of friendship a thought because I have a hard time trusting others. Every since I was a child, I was bullied for how I looked, and I wanted revenge against those who caused me pain. However, you came to this world and despite everything I did prior including my overblot, you still saw me as a friend." Azul slowly removed his head from your shoulder and looked you straight in the eyes with a bashful look. With a smile, you leaned closer and placed your forehead against Azul's. "I accept your apology Azul. No matter what you say or do or how you look, I will always be your friend and care about you; same with the Leech brothers as well." Azul let out a chuckle as he placed his hand upon your cheek: "You are one of a kind Angel-fish." Slowly, Azul leaned closer, lips coming to meet yours in a sweet kiss as he pulled you closer to him with his tentacles. You wrapped your arms around him and kissed back, as you both continued to float in the pool.

pov: Azul gave us a present.
Hi, good day!
May I request Azul, Riddle and Malleus with a a female reader that is super short but is also super strong, fast and can take heavy hits?
Azul, Riddle and Malleus with a short but strong F!Reader!
Note: thank you for the request! :3
Proofread?: yep!
Warning(s): none!
Azul
To start off, this man is just the embodiment of "đ«Ł"
Definitely loves to see strong women, but at the same time, he's going absolutely ballistic with how attractive he finds it.
Was caught off guard by your strength when he ordered Jade and Floyd to "escort" (kick your arse) out of Mostro Lounge, and you literally had both of the twins limping away from you. You, on the other hand, ready for round 2 and whoever wanted these hands.
He couldn't believe his eyes, especially when Floyd cowarded behind him for the first time in a while. He decided right there, and then, maybe it was best to be on your good side. Considering your strength and speed, you weren't one to mess with. He envys admires that.
He definitely wants you as one of the bouncers for Mostro Lounge, and is willing (definitely not of fear) to give you special advantages/treatments + more pay than regular workers.
Riddle
Invites you for tea almost immediately after he hears how you can handle a fight with both eel twins (oh how Floyd irrates that boy's soul.....). He honestly wants to hear your side of the story and see what techniques you use to be so strong for your size. He knows he's pretty short for the advantage male, but even for his size, he's almost double your size! How can you knock over TWO lanky eels in just a few blows??? TELL THIS BOY EVERYTHING YUU!!!!!!
Listens and takes notes with everything you say: you drank tea this morning? Tea brand? Noted. Your mom sat in the hospital for 48 hours before she had you? He can probably make some arrangements happenâ
He definitely sees you fit as a good "role model" for Heartslabyul with your abilities (my brother in christ, the girl was just inhaling the tarts with the queen, nowhere in sight??? Isn't that breaking one of the rules??).
Malleus
He has never seen such a short but strong woman in his lifetime ohMYLORDDDâ
This is like. The bedtime stories Lila would tell him, when he was younger, and now!!!!!! It's you!!!! His child of man!!!
He honestly likes your ability to withstand heavy hits, because one day he thought you were officially done for.
He was having a light-hearted connection with you, and you said a joke, making him laugh: he accidentally patted you on the back a little too hard, making your whole body tumble to the ground. He didn't mean to!!! He just forgot his own strength and how fragile the human body can be compared to Dragon. Luckily, this wasn't anything bad to you, and you got back up like it was nothing.

Floyd:
It was spring when it happened. Almost summer. The days weâre warming up and everyone was suffering a bit for it.
Usually, you would be able to go about your business alone, or perhaps with the company of Grim if he felt like it. Today however, a certain eel was towering over your shoulder. âShrimpy~â heâd giggle, a shiver was sent down your spin at his voice.
You slowly turned around. âA-ah? Hey FloydâŠâ you smiled warily. You usually, like most people in school, avoided the eel like the plague. He flashed his sharp teeth at you and extended his hand, the other one in his pocket in a more relaxed manner then your posture.
âA toothâŠ?â You squinted at the item, it was pointy: like his own teeth.
Realistically, you didnât really wanna hold this. Not that youâd tell him that. You glanced up at him again and saw those same teeth, not a single one out of place. âDo ya like it?~â
He leaned closer to your face, his eyes widened ever so slightly in a more intimidating manner. Clearly his lack of personal space had never changed. âUm⊠yes! I doâŠ?!â You were quick to awnser back.
Pleased with himself, he giggled loudly and walked away.
What was that about?
After that heâd keep approaching you with odd gifts⊠at one point he presented you with the largest pearl youâve ever laid your eyes on and then the next day he gifted you with a handful of beautiful scales.
You dreaded to think about the poor mer behind that giftâŠ
Either way, this was suspicious, right? When Floyd leech approached you, you either run away or get squeezed, why were you getting gifts? It also didnât help your relationship with the Housewarden of Heartslabyul, who now avoids you like the plague.
Seriously, when you walk into a room Riddle happened to be in, he jumps up and leaves immediate- sometimes even running away like you were his tormentor instead of Floyd!
Youâd also noticed that Floyd would yawn more around you⊠You didnât think you were boring either because he wouldnât be around you if you were boring to begin with! âAre you getting enough sleep?â
âEh? Shrimpy doesnât like me?â Floyd pouted, You noticed him glance at your mouth breifly. âShrimpy~ thatâs rude.â Heâd whine louder, a darker look in his eyes than usual. You had no clue if you had offended him or not that timeâŠ
Another time was this happened. It actually happened far more often than you would think or enjoy.
âShrimpy~â heâd say repeatedly to annoy you while you walked around school. Like when a sibling kept poking at you and claiming they werenât touching you, but he had his hands behind his head as he followed behind you a bored expression on his face. He had been hanging around you more.
Sadly that meant your friends were less likely to approach you. And if they did it was because they neglected to see the towering eel boy.
âMy, My, Floyd had taken quite a liking to you.â Jade stated offhandedly one day. You were at the Mostro Lounge (Azul was tired of Floyd skipping work and offered you free meals to hang out so Floyd would get back to work.)
You glanced at the Eel with a confused look. âWhat do you mean?â He simply looked down at the small necklace you had made with Floydâs⊠gifts of a tooth and scales. Iâm your defense they made very nice jewelry. Was it a bit messed up to be wearing some students scale and possibly their tooth? Perhaps⊠but you were poor and wanted something nice to wear.
With the same odd mysterious smile, Jade was off to serve the next costumer.
So you took it upon yourself to figure out what that meant!
First you went asking around Octavinelle. This was a bad idea because most students avoid you like you were Floyd.
Thankfully you managed to corner one, A trembling student you was glancing behind and around you the whole while you talked to him. "So?" You finally asked, a hand on your hip.
"Uh... What? C-could you repeat the question...?" He finally looked to you.
"Whats up with Floyd!" You finally snapped a bit, with a groan and a small eyeroll you glared at the smallfry.
"A-aren't you his...?"
"What on earth does that mean..." You groaned in annoyance too yourself. You were still, very, extremely lost.
Jade:
Whatever do you mean? You started courting him first if he wasnât mistaken.
It was a Monday afternoon during autumn you believed, when he was serving you in the Mostro Lounge while you were studying. (They had a exclusive deal that lasted only that day) It was pretty late and so, you, like a very normal human, yawned. âMy, If Iâm not mistaken this is hardly that time of year.â He replied slyly as he gave you your half off drink.
You just glanced at him in confusion as he bowed and excused himself, ever the polite waiter.
That was⊠odd.
What was stranger was, now Jade has this habit of gifting you things he found on his hikes. It started with a flower to then a mushroom and for some reason he had gifted you a rock? He said he found it âfascinatingâ So he gifted it to you.
You didnât really know eitherâŠ
This whole issue began to intimidate you. I mean, Jade leech, gifting you things? There had to be some kind of motive behind it! There is always a motive behind the Octa-trios advances.
So, not wanting to owe him anything, you began gifting him things in return. âI found this at the store and thought you might like it.â Youâd smile warily and a bit nervously as you extended a hand, in it a Dorsel Fin candy.
Heâd smile and accept your gift, youâd breath a sigh of relief and go about your day as usual. At least now you didnât owe him anything!
Now it became a habit, or a fun little game! Whenever Jade would gift you something, youâd look for something of equal value or better! Something heâd like. Youâd attempt to one up him, but it was as if he knew about your game somehow and wasnât letting you win.
Eventually it started to become something else, he was just... always there now? You'd turn around and almost scream! Because: was he there the whole time?
The worst part? He helped you so much more than half the time you turned around, and he wasn't there, you wished he was. He was making your life harder by not being there!
Here is the thing, you can't just get someone use to having a nice, helpful helping hand who is also attractive and then just take that away! Its inhumane.
You gifted him a terrarium you made yourself.
You didn't know why you did it. Maybe you liked his company and wanted to show your appreciation, maybe it was just because you were fond of him.
It was pretty out of the blue as well. You had been working on it for a week now, it wasn't anything remotely at Jade's own level but it was nice. (It better have been because that hike to gather everything almost killed you.)
Was it worth it? Yes. Seeing his eyes widen slightly before he regained his composure was absolutely worth it. He almost had to cough into his hand in Suprise.
Jade wasn't the most expressive, but you had a few ideas of what his Suprise would be look like. "Do you like it?"
"I do perfect. Thank you."
Note: Jade will never confess. It'll be one of those relationships where you don't know how it started but now your married so... Have fun!
Azul:
He was hopeless. Everybody knew this simple fact, except of course: you.
He was a businessman, not a... romance man!
From the way he'd tug at his tie like it was choking him when you were around, to how flushed he'd get when you even glanced in his direction. This guy was absolutely hopeless.
He actually turned... A very bright red was he turning purple as well? and immediately fixes his posture when you're in the room.
Thankfully, it takes two to tango and you were interested in him as well.
So, yeah, it was up to you to pursue the shady businessman who isn't very shady around you and instead acts like, in his own words, "an idiot."
So, no... he doesn't exactly court you. You court him.
You bring him cool things you find, blabber on about what you like and what you think he would like. He was... very confused and flustered, but happy you were there.
It was only after you took an active role in the relationship that he relaxed slightly and began to play along. Giving gifts back and ranting about the business and some poor unfortunate soul he scammed helped.
As everything began to relax in your guy's relationship. It got too comfortable, well, comfortable wasn't the right word. He was comfortable, you were suffering.
Why wasn't he making a move?! Didn't he like you?
Meanwhile, he was feeling pretty good. Jade and Floyd had gotten to a place where they don't tease him as much about not being able to make a move with you. (He didn't you made all the moves.) And his crush was showering him with attention!
You'd glance at him nervously while you sat at Mostro Lounge. He was counting his contracts. His new ones he had started to reaccumulate.
You physically couldn't hold it back anymore. It had been a week. A whole week of nothing new happening between the two of you. The words fell from your lips fast, like rushing water you tried to hold back but couldn't. It would have always slipped through the cracks in your fingers anyway... So you asked him, the burning question. "I like you. Do you like me...?" You finally blurted out.
"What?" He froze up. His head whipping in your direction he didn't know what to do or say and- he was ruining this wasn't he?
Azul had always been an anxious boy, it helped him- Because despite those anxieties he'd show them. he'd overcome them! He always had. But what do you do exactly when the person your heart has been beating oddly for asked that?
"I- um..." was all you needed before you stood up and left. Trying to fight back the small burn that began in your eyes before you cried. "Wait!" He called out but you had been out the door far too soon to even remotely hear him.
It was... a whole thing. He hated it, you hated it, and despite him refusing to admit it, you both cried over it. You always did love the classic miscommunication trope. But it happened. And frankly, you' prefer it this way in the long run. Because when everything was cleared up...
You got to kiss the octopus boy!
A smile on your face when you pulled away, he stared at you slightly shocked but very happy.
In a side note, after you kissed him, he wondered around aimlessly for a good while before he broke out of whatever spell you put him under. (You're still the magicless perfect of ramshackle...)
___________
Note: Floyd is my favorite. I hope you could tell lol Do I adore Azul? Yes! Was he the last one I wrote so it was kind of rushed and not very long? Also yes... I tried to make it a bit special-er?
The Dorm Leaders With Crushes (Pt. 1)
âNot editedâOOC Characters (?)â
Riddle Rosehearts
"A crush? Pathetic, romantic feelings are a waste of time."
â Riddle's just embarrassed because he does, in fact, have a crush
â Riddle genuinely doesn't mind crushes, though he says otherwise, he believes they are a natural part of life. Unfortunately his mother drilled it into his head at a young age that any and all forms of attraction are a sin, so he's initially very repulsed with himself for developing these feelings
â He's never had a crush due to homeschooling, and he didn't expect to develop one while at Night Raven College, but it developed fast. Immediately after seeing you at the entrance ceremony, Riddle's brain went "That's the one," as you were getting screeched at by a feral Grim
â Riddle first recognized his true feelings for you after his overblot, when you grabbed him by the hand and helped him up from the ground. He had an inkling he might have liked you before, but you didn't get a very good first impression of each other, so he left it alone
â Riddle is quite smart, and he is able to recognize these feelings rather quickly. Despite not really ever feeling any romantic attraction before, he's quick to understand it. What deters him from actually doing anything is both his inexperience with romance and his position as dorm leader; he doesn't want his newfound feelings for you to distract him from his duties
â The Queen of Heartslabyul yet the King of Avoiding His Feelings. Riddle knows full well he likes you, and he can tell you like him back based on your body language, yet he won't say anything. Ever. He may drop a very, very tiny hint, but he's inexperienced with this, so he's very shy when it comes to you
â Either you will have to make a move on him, or find a way to get him to accidentally confess, otherwise his lips are sealed. Luckily, while Riddle may be a tad more lenient with you when it comes to breaking rules, if you break enough, he just may end up snapping
"This is unacceptable, you've broken thirteen rules in the past few hours! I'm so disappointed, both in you and myself; I can't believe I had the gall to develop a crush on someone worse than Ace... Wait, no!"
Leona Kingscholar
"What are you blabbering on about? I don't care about some dumb crush."
â Leona knows what crushes are, but he's the least likely to develop one. He's the twenty year old dorm leader of Savanaclaw, most students at Night Raven College are usually fifteen to nineteen, and Leona is anything but a creep
â He doesn't really have any sort of an opinion on crushes, they're just something that hapoens from time to time. The only distinctive feeling he has towards it is that it's a waste of time, like many other things, because it takes a lot of effort
â It takes a while for Leona to develop a crush, and even longer for him to decide whether it's important enough for him to want to act in it, or to disregard the feeling completely. He doesn't necessarily have a type, he just doesn't care about people he deems unimportant
â Leona is very smart when he puts in the effort to try, yet he's a little dense when it comes to matters of the heart. No matter what your gender is, you would most likely have to point it out to him that he treats you differently than others. From there, Leona begins to notice how he feels differently about you compared to anyone else, and then he'll figure out if he wants to pursue a relationship or not
â It takes Leona a few months to figure out that he's crushing on you. While he claims he's too mature for a schoolboy crush, that's exactly how he feels when he sees you stop by the botanical gardens to quietly study while he's "sleeping" (Leona won't admit it, but he's faking it so he can spend time with you without scaring you off)
â He's not the best at talking about his feelings. Leona might even spend some time in denial about the fact that he likes you, insisting you're just an insignificant herbivore, and that he doesn't deserve you- he's wrong about both, however
â Once he's accepted that he likes you, and is convinced you feel the same, Leona is quite smug, and insists you ask him out. He'll corner you in the back of the garden, a grin tugging the corners of his lips up while he insists you ask him on a date
"Come on, little herbivore, I don't bite. If you don't want this, then I'll leave and we'll never speak of this again. But if you do, then just say the words, and I'll be yours."
Azul Ashengrotto
"A 'crush', you say? Unfortunately, I don't have one; I'm far too busy to deal with my own emotions."
â Azul swears up and down he doesn't have a crush, and he doesn't think he has one, but the twins point it out how obvious he is when he talks to you
â He's never actually given much thought to crushes; Azul's most likely had some in the past, but never acted on anything because he deemed it as a distraction from his goals
â It takes a bit of time before Azul can develop a crush. Unlike some of the other dorm leaders, Azul can't develop a crush solely on appearances, he has to get to know someone first, and then develops feeling for them. Unfortunately, that means he's usually immediately friend-zoned
â Jade and Floyd most likely had to spell it out for Azul that he liked you. Azul has a tendency to talk about you a bit more than others; it's not very noticable, but the twins picked up on it. So when Floyd complains that the Octavinelle dorm leader is always talking about you, and Jade agrees with him, Azul is a little stunned for a moment
â Azul is very smart; he's intelligent and a good, albeit shady, businessman. However, with more emotional matters, he's not the brightest. Azul isn't very good at picking up on crushes, and when he does, he goes through a stage of denial because "How can [he] be a good dorm leader and manager of the Mostro Lounge if [he is] distracted by a silly crush?" It probably took a month after developing the crush to recognize it
â As mentioned before, Azul will deny his feelings for a short period of time, and he might avoid you during this time. It isn't because of you, you're not the issue, it's just he's worried about his many duties. Additionally, although he'd never admit it, Azul is extremely insecure, and a large part of him thinks that he's too shady, too unworthy to be with you
â Eventually Azul will accept his feelings, and though he'd prefer to not act on them, the twins "convince" Azul to do otherwise. He'll slowly start leaving hints, becoming a tad more flirty and helpful towards you. However, it may take a while before an actual confession escapes his lips
"Prefect, I know our relationship is... difficult, to say the least, and it's a friendship I'm grateful for, but I'm afraid it may not be enough. How would you like to go to town this weekend? I-In exchange for some help around the Mostro Lounge, of course."
Kalim Al-Asim
"Ooh, a crush? I do have one right now actually! And it's on the best person in Twisted Wonderland!"
â Kalim is probably one of the only students at Night Raven College to know what a crush is, and admit that they have one
â Kalim actually finds crushes very cute! He thinks it's sweet to like someone, and to value them as a person. He also just likes the giddy feeling that comes with having a crush
â He can develop crushes relatively quickly, but Kalim is just not the best at recognizing the feeling. It's the sort of thing where he'll look back at a friend he used to have a few years prior, and suddenly go "Oh, I think I used to like them." At least with you, it was a bit easier to recognize
â Kalim is always talking about you and how much he adores you, no matter what. He sees no problem in expressing how amazing your "friends" are. But Jamil most likely made a snarky comment about how if Kalim loves you so much, he should marry you. Kalim's face had heated up so badly, he thought he would explode, before he squeaked out a "Maybe I will!"
â It won't take too long for Kalim to finally figure out that you're more than a friend to him. After Jamil points out his obvious adoration of you, Kalim is quick to realize just what the feeling he's experiencing is
â Kalim will absolutely admit his feelings to you, but because he's so friendly and because he does it so frequently, he's worried you think it's a joke when he says "I love you"
â Kalim is a little socially unaware, but he truly means well. If you're ever uncomfortable with his displays of affection, he'll immediately stop. He really does like you though, to the point where a wave from you across the cafeteria is enough to have him blabbing to Jamil about how much he adores you
"I love you! I mean, I know I say it a lot, and it might not be 'love' like that yet, but I really like you! But you don't feel the same, that's okay! You're my best friend and I don't want to ruin that!"
â Sorry for the delay in writing, preparing for finals has been tough, but I'm officially finished with my exams and I'll be writing more often now
Hi, I wanted to request a scenario for the dorm leaders separately where him and S/o are dating. Grim comes running to find him and tell him Crowley was sending S/o back to their world. So the dorm leader goes running into Crowley's office and plead S/o to stay in twisted wonderland, telling them how much they love them and admitting they want to get married when they graduate. S/o agrees to stay, but explains that Crowley only gave the option to go back and Grim just assumed they were leaving.
Dorm Leaders + MC's Chance To Leave
So I have to be honest, this was a little challenging for me since I didn't want to repeat the same scenario, so some scenarios turned out a little more angsty than the others, so please be warned of that
Besides that, I had a lot of fun on the reactions of the Dorm Leaders! Please enjoy! Cut for length
"Hoi! Dorm Leader!!"
A furry cat ran up to the Dorm Leader, in full panic as his swishing tail flickered anxiously.
"Listen here!" Grim pawed at the student's feet, the mention of your name catching his attention. "YN's leaving! You have to go and stop her! I overheard her in Crowley's office!"
"âŠWhat?"
Malleus Draconia
He summoned as much magic as he could, transporting him to the principal's door and blasting the door open
"YNâŠ!"
He was truly scared, and his fear translated through his own magic as the whole school felt the earthquakes
The draconic fae hugged you tight, his much larger frame engulfing you completely. "YN, please don't go⊠I don't know what I'd do without you so pleaseâŠ"
"Wait-"
"No, please let me finish," He said, his finger silencing you. "YN, I love you. I love you my dear, more than you'd possibly know. I want to do so much with you. I want to marry you once I was done with school, and I was hoping to take you to the Valley of Thorns!..."
"My Queen, please consider staying with me."
Despite his desperate grip, you patted his head, giggling at the confession.
"Tsunotarou⊠I'm not going anywhere."
Crowley coughed, "M-My my⊠What a passionate proclamation of loveâŠ"
Malleus was utterly confused, but all he understood was that you weren't leaving him
You explained the whole situation, although you had to tease your precious fae for overreacting
"Tsunotarou~ Should I prepare my wedding dress now?"
The Prince of the Faes has never blushed harderâŠ
Riddle Rosehearts
He hoped he wasn't too late, as he raced down the halls, abandoning every rule he himself established in the dorms
"YN! You're not allowed to leave me!"
His face reddened with rage and despair, anticipating for the worse as he fell to the ground
He felt the familiar touch of you, as you held his cheek
He reached out to you, confessing his worries
"YN, if you really leave me... I don't think I can handle it anymore. You mean so much to me... If you're leaving me, at least know that I love you to the point I want to have a wedding right after graduation!-"
"R-Riddle... you really want to marry me?" You shied away, hiding your face in your hands
"Of course!" He protested. "You're the only one I'd be on my knees for, so please... don't leave."
You couldn't help but let out a laugh at such a serious moment like this. "Riddle... I never planned to. I turned down Crowley's offer. I'm staying here... with you. So don't cry, Riddle."
He felt like an utter idiot for believing Grim
"O-Of course! I'm... Thank you for staying with me, YN."
Kalim Al-Asim
He dropped everything he was doing, racing to the principal's door
Jamil was the unfortunate soul who had to clean up after him
Kalim didn't want to miss you, he just had so much so say to you
When he burst in the room, Crowley protested the sudden interruption
He was quickly silenced by Kalim throwing a pillow at him
"YN! My beautiful Zahra!" He proclaimed, getting on one knee. "My Zahra, will you marry me?"
"W-What?"
"If you marry me this instance, you'd consider not going back!" He cried, the tears soaking his shirt. "YN, I don't⊠Don't go⊠What am I supposed to do?"
You wiped away your lover's tears, kissing them away
"Kalim, I never planned to. I'm staying here with you, my sweet prince, even if I can go back," You said, brushing the ends of his hair
"R-Really?"
You nodded, your cheeks warming at the thought of Kalim's sudden proposal. "Y-Yeah⊠Did you mean to marry me though?"
"YN, I'd propose to you over and over again if that's what you want."
Azul Ashengrotto
Azul snapped, crushing the contract he was preparing for some student that harassed you the other day
He was in denial at first, but he wasn't about to take any chances
If he had to keep you here by a contract, he'd do so
"Crowley! What is the meaning of this?!"
He protectively pulled you into his arms, stating his purpose. "YN, you are not going back," He turned to you. "You don't know if it works! It could be a scam! You're safer with me-"
"Azul, you're-"
"YN," He faced you, bringing his gloved hand under you chin. "Don't underestimate my love for you. If Crowley⊠If he didn't step in, I'd propose to you by graduation and I'd bring you the Sea to meet my parents and-"
"Azul, my adorable octopus. I didn't agree to go back," You said, setting your boyfriend straight. "I'm not going anytime soon, not away from you that is."
Most would've expected him to be in tears when hearing you were leaving, but Azul was a sobbing mess hearing that you stayed
"R-Really? YN⊠Thank you, thank you my Angelfish for staying with meâŠ" He sobbed into your shirt, swaying into the hug
"You shouldn't underestimate my love for you either, my future husband."
Idia Shroud
Idia almost broke the game controller in his hands, his jaw agape at Grim
"Extra⊠You shouldn't be telling me liesâŠ"
Idia, of course had to set out on a quest to reverse the fate of this story!...
He rushed to the den of the wicked, and there the trickster principal was tempting you to go back!
"YN! Don't fall for his schemes!" He cried, his hair of flames burning brighter than before. "I⊠I won't let you go back home!"
Ortho, at his side, dutifully restrained the crow from retorting anything as Idia tried to convince you to not leave
"YN⊠Just say anything and I'll give it to you. Just don't go!!" He said. "Is it because you thought I was hiding something from you? If it's that, I'm willing to show you!"
He rustled a paper out of his jacket, unfurling it to reveal a design of a ringâŠ
"Here!" He presented, at this point quite desperate to keep you here. "I-It's the ring I plan to propose you with! It was supposed to be after my graduation, where you could be next to me all the timeâŠ"
You cupped the face of your frantic boyfriend, hushing him
"Idia, sweetie, I agreed to stay even before you came," You explained, telling him that you never planned to leave as well how you appreciated his notion of marriage
Idia pulled you into a tight hug, happy that you never gave up on him
"YN, I'll try to make you as happy as I can!"
Leona Kingscholar
To everyone's surprise, Leona's first instinct wasn't a fit of rage. Instead, the second prince went into a burst of tears with hits frustration
"YN⊠There's no way she wouldâŠ"
He had to prove himself wrong. He had to
Otherwise he'd might just break then and there
"YN! Where are you?..."
He almost worried if he were too late
He couldn't explain the bloom of relief that swelled in his chest as he saw you still in this world
He grabbed you by the shoulders, unexpected words spilling from his lips
"YN, did I mean nothing to you? Was I nothing when you showed me love?!" He cried out, his tears flowing freely. "Was⊠Was I even worth it? Was I?"
He sunk to his knees, as he gave up all hope for you to stay
"I wanted to make you mine⊠I wanted to marry you and live with just the two of usâŠ" He sobbed, his claws digging into his own skin
"Was I that easy to forget?"
He didn't expect the warmth of your hug comforting him. "No Leona," You said, shedding a few tears yourself. "I could never forget you, which is why I chose to stay. I'm never leaving you, not even for my old life."
"YN⊠you really scared me, y'know?"
Vil Schoenheit
Vil wanted to crush that cat under his heels for bringing such dreadful news to him
He made his way to the principal's room, voicing his very annoyance the moment he barged in
"Principal! How dare you manipulate my sweet potato!"
He cuddled you in his arms, lulling sweet words into your ears in hopes of driving whatever rubbish you had to hear from Crowley
"My sweet potato, I⊠Please consider staying with me," He said, his hands ghosting over yours. "I⊠Just let me give everything to you if that's what you want! You can do anything, I just want youâŠ"
You were about to say something, but Vil thought it was a retort of protest
"I had been planning everything for the moment I propose after graduation! I can't let that bird ruin that!" He cried, trying to hear a word of approval from you. "My⊠My beloved. Please stay with me."
You nodded, bestowing a kiss on your lover
"Vil, I'm flattered," You admitted. "But I was already planning to stay. I could never consider letting you go."
Vil couldn't stop himself from lifting you up and twirling you around. "Oh, my beloved! You're staying with me!" He repeated over and over again, enjoying the giggles that came from your lips
He set you down, realising your furry companion lied to him
"YN, I really want to crush that furball that tails youâŠ"
"Vil!"
We SHOULD be asking YANA-san about that...
If "stupid clumsy octopus" why lips so kissable??
Hmm? Explain that one ashengrotto (hands on learner btw)
Hey hey! Is the request still open? If it is, can I request for How To Win A Heart Of Azul? I really love your fanfics!
How to win a heart of Azul Ashengrotto?
a/n: I gave the reader a job â since I canât see Crowley organizing and checking any documents heâs responsible for, the burden of dealing with NRC organization plans will fall upon you, a very competent human being.
Also, I am terribly sorry, anon, for the long wait... A really long wait.
âââ ââââ â
1. Decline an offer.
âIs that a no?â Azul's hand drops a little before he shifts the contract he laid out on the table a few centimetres back.
"Does it sound like a yes?" Your reply makes Octavinalle leader retreat and sit back in his armchair. His brows bend in a subtle frown and you can almost see how he bites the back of his cheek, not to retort quickly. "Of course, it's a no! These terms are obviously ridiculous, and, what you probably didn't expect, I can read discerningly."
Azul would have doubted that statement two minutes ago when you first entered his office.
In awe, gaping at each decoration in this stunning room, he couldn't help but recognize that the intimidation of Octavinalle greatness and the stressful situation you have fallen into was having a big impact on your sense.
What he didnât know was that it didnât mess up your mind and ability to think clearly as much as he hoped.
To his surprise, you could actually read and think. Such uncommon talents between anyone, who Azul wanted to force a contract, once they entered Octavinelle grounds.
"Well then," Azul starts again. He almost can't resist adjusting his shirt cuff, but it would make him seem nervous. Is he nervous? "We can surely negotiate. From me, I can guarantee you having any request done if itâs in my power. Also, until the end of this semester, every day, you wonât have to pay for one item on your menu. Does it satisfy you? I think it is equal,"âif not more, his tone suggests,â"a glance at the plans for next school event Principal Crowley entrusted you."
The word spreads quickly or Azul Ashengrotto knows too much. Perhaps bothâthe fact that Crowley suddenly conscripted the organizing committee in the shape of you and one student from Ignihyde is a too big piece of information to keep for yourself.
Winning some kind of contestâwhat the contest was about? Azul tries to recall your profile he studied yesterday's evening. Creative thinking...? Art of manipulation? Getting on the nerves of Octavinalle students?âwith your fellow Ignihyde colleague made you in charge of planning new events on the school's behalf. No one knew much, but from the brief introduction to the school's new year events, there was no one in the school whose interest wasn't picked by any of the festivals.
There is no doubt the events will interest many people outside of NRC.
And that's why Azul must have the plans.
"Forget it," you say curtly, getting up from your chair. You spare Azul last glance, just to see how his hands subtly shake in the irregular rhythm of frustration throbbing in his veins. A trace of a reluctant smile appears on your lips and Azul's expression goes blank for a second. "This time, you will have to try a little bit harder to get what you want."
âââ ââââ â
2. Start a war.
Azul takes pride in touting people to sign a contract.
Most students of the campus, plenty visitors during NRC's events, commoners, royals... And it is usually them craving the opportunity. Not vice-versa.
âWhat is that you want?â
You donât have to turn around to know who has been searching for you all day. Messages from your friends that Azul Ashengrotto was asking about your whereabouts, made you almost avoid him, just to irritate him more.
âI wish for love,â you turn on a heel to face him. The sigh that escapes his lips slowly makes you stop batting your eyelashes theatrically. âJoking. That's pretty clichĂ© thing to say, you know?â
Azul lifts one unimpressed eyebrow. âWhat is it?â He repeats his question.
Finally, you fall quiet and he takes the silence as you ponder. âHmm... I don't know. This trade can get any of my wishes to come true after all, no?â
â...You will know where you'll find me if you find your answer.â
âââ ââââ â
3. Love the food.
âHere again, [Name]?â
The question welcomes you the moment you enter Mostro Lounge. You raise your hand as a quick âhelloâ before making your way to him.
There arenât many students in the lounge, and thatâs most likely because of the hour; it isnât either early or late, and people just started to get hungry. It makes the atmosphere special with only a few tables being occupied and just by quiet people.
You can hear a jazz beat that always fades when people gather here at the evening hour.
âDonât judge me,â a subtle smile plays on your lips as you sit next to him. Some days Azul just goes to Mostro Lounge (probably to collect information; people are often really cheery to share their thoughts and gossips once the food is served), and you just happen to join him.
Giving him the hope to get some news from you is a very tempting hobby you canât deny yourself.
âI could never,â states Azul, politely shifting some documents to another side of the table. He doesnât bother to hide them at all since you will be the one checking these in Crowley's place.
âAre you also taking guilty pleasure from eating sweets?â Azul jerks his head at you with emotion you canât describe as surprise or shame. Perhaps both, but the latter is still increasing as Azul registers his reaction.
Your lips curve in a teasing grin.
âWh- What?â Azul breathes the question at last, just after other Octavinalle student served your ordered drink. You are delighted whenever heâs in distress. Unwittingly playing with the straw, there is a noticeable shade of smugness on your smile. âNo. Iâm not that type of person youâre thinking of.â
âYeah, right,â you take a sip of your drink, throwing Azul an unimpressed look. His papers are completely forgotten as other arguments form in his head. âGood luck with convincing yourself.â
âââ ââââ â
4. Don't get manipulated.
Good luck.
âââ ââââ â
5. Befriend Leech twins.
"Nee~ Shrimpy~ Entertain me!" Floydâs wails ring in your ears, as his thoughts are roaming through the room for the sixth time.
You exhale deeply. He is being difficult on purpose.
"I donât really want to," you say resolutely, which doesn't stop Floyd's whines. His complaints lack, however, amusement from before and you start expecting the moment when his mood will snap. Before that could happen, a polite chuckle from behind makes you shift your attention to another Leech twin.
âFloyd and I were hoping that you will have a better idea to spend an enjoyable break,â Jade comments, and all you can do is give him a flat stare. When Leech twins suddenly try to get close to you, how could you not get suspicious?
The question is, are they doing it at Azulâs request?
âWell, what do you want to do?â At your question, Jade, without any special inquiries, looks at his brother who gives you a little hum in response.
âDo you wanna play a prank on Azul~?â Floyd asks. There is no threat in his voice, but you can feel being tested.
...But who are you to refuse to investigate Azulâs weakness with his close acquaintances?
âSure.â
âI will join as well,â Jade says, a professional camera in his hands. The little mushroom sign on it tells you that itâs part of the club's equipment. âAzulâs reactions are too valuable to have not been saved in a photo.â
âIt will serve as a blackmailing material, wonât it?â
âIt will.â
âââ ââââ â
6. Avoid PE together.
He opens the door.
"And what you might be doing here?" Azul shudders from surprise, and his head snaps in your direction. You wave in his direction and observe how his muscles relax once he recognized a familiar face.
You couldnât blame him for his reaction. Schoolâs storage filled with all necessary items for PE lessons is not popular enough for two people to meet up. Especially, if the said lesson hasnât even started.
"...I donât know,â he answers carefully and tries not to make any unnatural moves as his eyes scan your silhouette. Judging from your sporty attire and a broom that was unceremoniously tucked into the corner of the room, you were prepared for the next PE lesson. âAnd what are you doing here?â
âI donât know!â A lot of frustration was put into your words. You pinch your nose to collect your thoughts, feeling a headache already forming at the back of your head. Your gaze returns to Azul. â...But I know that I donât want to attend Mr Vargasâ special lessons.â
âThat makes us two,â he says and crunches next to you. You couldnât help but smile subtly at the thought that these words were his most sincere expression since your first talk.
âRight... Donât you have any dorm-related duties that you can use as an excuse?â You ask, and his eyes flash at you, stars of sudden amusement making them twinkle. He clearly remembered something. Seizing a great opportunity, you decide to take it. âI can be your assistant! The idea was mine, and I am terrified about Vargasâ new tutoring program.â
â...I guess itâs fair enough.â He feigns the resigned sigh, and you reach your hand to help him stand up. Unconsciously noting that your hand is much warmer than his, he accepts it. âLetâs go.â
âââ ââââ â
7. Be a help.
When Jade told him there is someone who would like to work half-time at Octavinelle, Azul didnât expect them to be you. Donât you already have a lot of work from Crowley? Better question: why? Do you urgently need money for something?
He decided to ask. âWill you be working for money? I believe itâs not a friendly help.â
There is a lot of lethargy in his voice, although his attention is fully focused on you. His eyes scan your appearance but find no sign of something going wrong. At least, at first glance, you seem healthy and well.
He lets out his breath now, hesitantly noting how stiff he has been since you walked in.
"I guess so," you give him an informative nod. âI am short on cash right now.â
âWhy?â You give him a shrug as an answer. It always seems like you have less money than you think you have. There is a note of worry in his voice and it makes you somehow pleased. âAre you having financial problems?â
âWell, itâs good to have an additional coin in your pocket,â you chuckle. âPeople say that money canât buy happiness, but you all Octavinelle students, are pretty hyped in general, you know?â
You can see how Azul holds back to roll his eyes.
âI think we are having a bad influence on you, [Name].â He adjusted his glasses, but blue eyes never left yours. He only breaks eye contact to search for a contract. âEither way, welcome. Jade will assign you your tasks for the next month.â
âââ ââââ â
8. Remind him of his worth.
There will always be bad days in your life. In Azulâs too.
âSorry for my appearance...â were Azulâs first words once you meet him at Mostro Longue, and by that, you already know that something is wrong.
Your brows furrow in concern, as you take a seat next to him.
There is only a menu at the table, no papers related to work are in plain sight. There is no particular reason for you two to meet up, but none of you points it out. The silence between you two would be comfortable if Azul wasnât creating a depressing aura around himself.
âYou look as always,â you start slowly, weighing your words. From the empty shade in Azulâs eyes, you read that this conversation enters a minefield where a bad word can lead to ruin. âWell... Are you going to order yourself anything?â
One just exploded.
âYou-! You donât understandâ!â He raises his tone, students from the next table subtly start listening in. Sharply, in rigid movements, he leans on the table and hides his face in gloved hands. His tone is much more lowered, barely louder than a whisper. âI canât! I really canât... I canât let myself get out of shape again, because I...â
He falls silent and you take a moment to form a sentence before speaking up.
âI donât know,â you say in the most soothing voice you can bring up. At first, you arenât sure if he listens to you. âBut if you need someone to tell you how awesome you are, I can introduce you to my friends. Do you know what they told me? That youâre âa handsome gentleman, who knows his business. Maybe itâs a little embellished description.â The indifference was harder to keep up with increasing difficulty. âThey never signed a contract with you, however, and I would say in addition that you can be a bit too stingy in terms of money.â
Azul was now sitting properly. Except for some paleness on his face (but it could just be light), he didnât look as if he just had a breakdown. A momentary breakdown, but still...
Trying not to notice his gaze that is inexplicably stuck to you, your hand goes to the menu and shifts it closer. Only after briefly glancing over the list of desserts and drinks, do you dare to look up at him again.
âBesides, people who arenât afraid to eat in front of people are hot,â you gesture generally around Mostro Longue. Most students here wasnât afraid to order whatever they wanted and food filling their plates was a measurement of their palate, confidence (or indifference) and budget. âAnd that all food is waiting for you. And, Azul, you have impeccable taste in picking out treats.â
â...Allow me, then,â he takes a menu from you. He is really grateful for the blue lights in here, that mix up with the red on his cheeks. Just after receiving your order, he clears his throat, focusing your attention on himself and plates full of ice cream in front of you. â...If I will gain weight, you will have to join me at my training.â
You take a spoonful of your ice cream, winking at him when you catch his gaze. âDeal.â
âââ ââââ â
9. Give him hope.
âI will sign the contract,â you told him. âI will be at Octavinelle in the evening, so wait for me.â
He has no idea what to think.
He should be excited, shouldnât he? Then, whatâs wrong? Why something is eating him from inside? What is eating him from inside?
After all, he will finally have the plans. It wonât probably put much pressure on you from Crowley that will forgive you this time (since you do a great job). But other dorm students? Wonât they know about the deal? Will they start to mistreat you?
Something twists in Azulâs stomach.
â...I should worry about whatever I will have to trade for the plans...â He tries to shift his attention. It doesnât work as he is antsier than a few minutes ago. Being in his office isnât calming at all peace that haunts the room doesnât distract him from unpleasant thoughts.
He sighs with frustration. He canât even relax.
âThere are few hours left...â
âââ ââââ â
10. Have him indebted and at your mercy.
âWonât you be in trouble because of this deal?â He asks the moment you enter his office. You smile at the question and reply just after taking a seat in front of his desk.
âI asked my friend about it and they said that only Octavinelle is so fixated on this event,â you admit. So you also thought about other dorms, Azul notes. âThere is no big loss for me.â
âI assume you came with an offer.â His tone is business-like. It does not fit his eyes with the voice, as they give you an impression of everything that Azul tries to hide at the moment; a little bit nervous, mostly concerned and quite... lonely?
You lower your gaze.
âI ask for a favour in exchange.â
âAnd what it might be?â Azul asks. âI canât give you money if thatâs what you-â
âGo on a proper date with me.â
â-ask for.â A moment of silence stretches through the room. Does he have auditory hallucinations? Is he dreaming? What? What? âWhat?â
âWill you goâ on a dateâ with me-?â You ask slowly, but there isnât as much confidence in your voice as before. The words catch up in your throat and with Azulâs shocked and confused eyes on yourself, you start to have second thoughts. You lower your lashes. âIf you donât want to, just say no, and I will think of something else. I think, however, itâs a pretty good deal for you,â
âNo! I mean, yes!â He says in an indifferent-feigned tone and your eyes donât fail to let go of his blue ones. Crimson colours burst on his cheeks. âYes, well, I agree.â He repeats. âI agree.â
Unique Kisses: Octavinelle!
Heartslabyul || Savanaclaw || Octavinelle || Scarabia || Pomefiore || Ignihyde || Diasomnia || Rollo, Che'nya, Neige || Honest Fellow
Azul A. (butterfly kisses)
âThat's a very unfair deal,â you mutter, wrapping yourself more around Azul's arm. You are stopping him from writing down your potential contract and he is remarkably eager to delay everything when you are trying to persuade him so hard, despite the pen in his hand. âAll I ask is that you quiz me before the test. Does it require such a formal agreement?â
Azul's chair cracks softly as he straightens up. You don't loosen your grip, but you are sure that if Azul ever wanted to, he could manage to get out of your arms. Apparently, he doesn't want toâor he doesn't care or mindâand with this small gesture, he is making you hope.
âEverything has a price,â he says before you can come up with something like 'good deeds of a good boyfriend' to throw at him. âYou already get a discount because of our relationship... And another fifteen per cent for those kisses, which are also a form of contract, [Name].â
...And maybe that is the reason why he doesn't want you to leave. The kisses are the only ones of their kind, something Azul would always want to get for helping you. When you press your lips to his neck or the corners of his mouth, that touch always makes him feel that it's still insufficient. It is only a foretaste and Azul feels as if a ghost has fallen in love with him, but worse because this one is lovely and warm and has already learned to tease Azul with its pranks.
âWhat if there was more?â Another kiss lands on his cheek, which has acquired a bit of colour over the past several minutes. Azul doesn't flinch, even when you deliberately delay moving away from him. âCan you manage to bring it down by a hundred per cent? I'm poor this month.â
Azul sighs, and the air escapes his lungs completely.
He is losing the façade of the carefree businessman, an act he started putting up since he knew what are you up to.
âTheir value decreases with each use,â he says, shaking his head. He adds: â There would have to be a thousand of them.â
âBetter to start sooner than later, no?â You smile. âCome on... I'll pay my debt.â
Another three kisses come by. Oneâat his temple, near the grey eyes that glitter in the elegant lighting in Azul's studyâand anotherâat the corner of his mouth, which tremblesâand a third, almost on his lower lip. All these points suddenly seem to burn on Azul's skin and he has to restrain from touching them.
Your next kiss has been already blocked by Azul's gloved hand, as he presses his index finger to your lips. You look at him with surprise, and although his face turns even redder, he manages to utter his next sentence without his voice breaking down.
âDo you think it will be so easy to bribe me?â
You smile even wider.
âYes,â you embrace his face with your hands. His skin is soft and kind of warm, but you are sure he is melting as much as you are just by that touch. âBecause something like that would definitely work for me.â
Jade L. (stopping kisses)
âHello!â Your smile makes you stand out very much from the crowd of other passing students, even more so than the hands you raise to wave to your boyfriend. You shine with your charm and Jade wonders why no one else notices that brightness. âAnd bye-bye!â
He smiles amiably, watching you disappear around the next corner. Another ringing of the bell fills the school corridors and Jade decides it's time to hurry to his classroom. On the way he passes Floyd, throwing him a quick smile. Then, he starts to wonder what the next lesson is going to be. Or whether it will be more important than Monstro Lounge duties. Or mushrooms.
Probably not. But he is going to pay attention anyway.
This is what all your mornings would be like until Jade decided to put some more effort into it. Dramatic effects, one could say.
âHe-â
...?
Your greeting is muffled when Jade grabs you gently by the collar of your uniform and, in a fluid but powerful motion pulls you closer.
You bump into him, and he enhances the accident; he leans in, lifts your chin and kisses you.
You feel his hand going down your back and stopping at your waist, but the centre of your attention gravitates toward his other hand, which roams and teases your skin near your neck, leaving such a gentle touch. Under Jade's fingers, you shiver.
Then, his lips claim yours.
âŠ
Red isn't Jade's favourite colour, but he likes some of its shades on you.
Red skin at the corner of your mouth, crimson blushes all over your face and scarlet lips decorated with glossy cosmetics.
Jade moves away. He smiles his everyday smile and it pains you so much that he is so quick to recover after something that knocked you completely out of balance.
âCould I have a change of greeting, please?â He asks, intertwining your fingers with his. He pulls a few loose strands of hair behind your ear, which he leaned into. âThe sight of you is always lovely, of course, but I feel a little distant when we pass each other so quickly in the corridor...â
âŠ
You are still in the corridor.
You are reminded of that when some random student whistles in your direction. Jade smiles mockingly at the student, who could have been a phantom, quickly disappearing into a crowd with an equally mischievous grin.
âYes... Yes,â you answer. You put your hand to your chest and rest your head against Jade's chest. His heartbeat isn't as fast as yours, and you confirm it once more Jade puts his arms around you. âWait, give me a minute. My heart's about to jump out...â
The cruel man laughs warmly.
âHm. You'll have to get used to a different pace of living, don't you think?â
Floyd L. (stolen kisses)
âI'm hungry, Floyd,â you knock his hand off, and it once again began to wander over your shoulder. âLet me eat my breakfast, please.â
âAwh...!â
Floyd whines. His wordless lament is filled with clear disappointment and stubbornness. You don't believe that only eight attempts to push him away is going to change anything thoughâFloyd Leech hasn't even considered leaving you alone, still sitting next to you.
You wouldn't have used such a method if his company didn't equate to an inability to eat anything during the meal break; either your food was the one vanishing or it was you, disappearing from a canteen, while dragged behind your favourite, but a little overbearing sea boy.
You shift your attention to your plate again. You haven't managed to get any school-legendary sandwiches, but you had got your hands on some fruits and crackers, and Floyd (graciously) has shared with you some of the jam he had taken himself. You promised him you'd spend the whole afternoon with him in exchange for it, but apparently, it still isn't enough.
Or he just likes annoying you.
You grab the first cracker, and it isn't until you bite into it that you realize how hungry you are. You thought that skipping last night's dinner was a good idea, but the quiet (loud, in your ears) rumbling of your stomach for the first few hours of the class made you rethink your choices.
You reach for another handful of crackers, biting into them along with a cut piece of an apple.
Floyd watches you in surprising silence until you eat half of the food you have.
Your hand, along with the cracker you've been about to put in your mouth, meets a wall in the shape of Floyd's head. His face is right in front of yours, a wide smile on it, even though you had almost crushed the cracker on his cheek.
Whenever Floyd kisses you, you are aware of the unusual facial proportions, not ordinary between humans, but more common in sea creatures. His tongue is long and his teeth sharp. His lips are slippery, but that is more due to the sweet soda he drank earlier because you sense the vivid taste of oranges in his kiss.
Oranges...
Ah, now you remember. You are supposed to have breakfast.Â
You scold yourself for being distracted. Floyd may have an uncanny ability to monopolize your attention, but you still want to believe that in your relationship, both of you have equally similar power.
Floyd doesn't let you move awayâthe hands on your back and shoulder are there to prevent thatâbut you manage to turn your head just enough to catch your breath and try to push yourself away from him. Floyd is very fond of sabotaging you with his lung capacity, using every opportunity to take your breath away, but right now you are too focused on the clock, which shows that the break will be over in seven minutes.
âNot now!â You would have apologized to him for your dryness, has it not been for the fact that he started it, is now starving you, and is still smiling with amusement. You snort, clasping your hands over the fruit on your table. âI must have energy for our afternoon. And if these breaks don't convince you, give me a pass or food vouchers to Monstro Longue and I promise to comply.â
How would the TWST boys act when they had a crush on the Reader/Yuu?
All are meant to be interpreted as romantic except for Ortho, who is a wingman for his brother in his part. Some characters might be a bit OOC. Reader is GN but will be referred to as pretty/beautiful. Minor TW for Rollo having yandere tendencies.
If anyone has anything to add or any questions, please leave an ask or comment! Requests are open if anyone wants :)Â Everything is under the cut
Heartslabyul:
Riddle Rosehearts -Â
Not the best person to have liking you.Â
Heâs not mean or anything he just... Has no idea what to do with himself at any time.Â
And itâs very obvious.Â
He thinks that if heâs very, very specific about you following the rules, youâll praise him and thus thatâll mean youâll like him.Â
Heâs⊠Trying his best.Â
âOff With Your Head!â You felt the metal clamp around your neck as you heard the echo of the words. Turning around, you saw the small redhead with his hands on his hips, face already flushing. He grabbed the drink you were holding, the surface of the coffee moving as he pulled away. âOn a Tuesday, one can only drink lemon tea past 3:14 in the afternoon!â He huffed, before using his free hand to pull you away. âIf you donât know the rules, Iâll just have to teach them to you. Come on, thereâs some tea in the garden. I have a book of rules I could read to you.âÂ
Trey Clover -Â
Heâs housewife material, heâll bake for youÂ
âAny boy can be babygirl but it takes a man to be a single motherâ vibesÂ
I never know what to say to him heâs just a normal person who likes cookingÂ
On a complete side note if you ever go to NYC, go to Aliceâs Tea Cup. Itâs this tea house thatâs kind of close to Broadway, at least last time I went pre-COVID, and itâs so good. I have the recipe book from there and the pumpkin scones are the best.Â
You walked into the Hearslabyul kitchen, smiling at the smell of apple pie. Trey was baking, and the dish had just come out of the oven. He smiled, but then slapped your hand away when you tried to grab it. âNot yet, it needs to cool first. If you really want something to eat, we have leftover blueberry scones in the fridge.â He said, looking away to get the serving plate. You touched it anyway, pulling back as you burned yourself. He looked at you and sighed, taking you by the arm to get an ice cube on it. âBurnt hand teaches best, I suppose... It shouldnât be that bad of a burn. If it gets any worse, Iâll put some cream on it...â He said, before kissing the burn. âAnd a get-well-soon kiss, of course.âÂ
Cater Diamond -Â
Heâs a silly boy, but also an angsty oneÂ
If he genuinely likes you, heâd probably try really, really hard to be the âperfect guyâÂ
And also to try to hide how into you he is because heâs scared youâll leave himÂ
Those moments when his guard drops are probably the sweetest, thoughÂ
âAh, that was fun! Well, Cay-cayâs all yours for the rest of the day. What do you wanna do now?â Cater said, having just turned off his livestream. You were behind his phone smiling at him. You were going to recommend getting a drink at the Monstro lounge, but saw how tired he was. He smiled at you when you asked to just hang out with him at home. âYou do, huh? Well, thereâs a new movie we could watch.â When you raised an eyebrow, asking if it was for Magicam, he just chuckled and shook his head. âNope. A remake of an old classic. I want to watch it with you. Iâm sure that youâd be able to make anything good, just by being there.âÂ
Ace Trapolla & Deuce Spade-Â
Theyâre together because I feel like you canât make one fall for you without the other. Itâs a âbuy one get one freeâ deal.Â
Ace would be a nightmare to have in love with you.Â
Heâd try his best to flirt, but mainly through really bad dirty jokes and pickup lines.Â
Or, by inserting himself into your life as much as possible in an attempt to force himself into a place of importance for youÂ
Duece, on the other hand, would be an angel.Â
He attempts to be an old-fashioned gentleman, like holding open doors and getting you flowers.Â
Are those roses from Heartslabyulâs garden? Maybe. Just donât snitch on him to Riddle.Â
You weren't entirely sure how you got yourself into hiding in a cabinet with Ace and Duece, but here you were, avoiding the Riddle currently screaming his head off about how someone had stolen the roses currently in your arms. You had a hand over Dueceâs mouth as he muttered apologies, trying to get him to shut up, before Ace leaned in and whispered âHey, Prefect?â You gave him a look, to which he said, âAre you from Tennessee? Because youâre the only ten I see!â He asked, voice rising in volume as he tried not to laugh, to which Duece slapped him on the arm and cried, âDonât be so loud! Youâre going to get us caught!â Ace only laughed harder, until the door to the cabinet opened. You took a dash out of there with your roses, the two bumbling baffoons behind you, the yelling housewarden already collaring them.Â
Savanaclaw:Â
Leona Kingscholar -Â
Heâs a fun manÂ
Well, not really, but his attempts are very fun for Ruggie.Â
Heâll just drag you away and force you to cuddle with him.Â
Youâll probably end up cutting class, but do you really care when itâs with the clingy lion man?Â
Throwing money at you with no regard to the amount he gives or the reason he does it is the other attempt.Â
If he can prove that heâs better at taking care of you than the lizard, he can win this round.Â
And get a better lover than his brother, but thatâs the secondary goal.Â
You were just walking in the garden when you felt someone trip you, causing you to land half in a bush. Before you could turn around to tell off the person responsible, they grabbed your waist and pulled you to them on the floor. âItâs nap time, Herbivore. Shut up and let me sleep.â When you told him that he was the one who invited you here and youâd have to skip your next class to stay, he just huffed and rolled his eyes at you, pushing a pouch in your hand. âYeah, yeah. Whatever. If youâll be like that, take this and you can get whatever you want in your lunch period. Fair deal if youâll stay.âÂ
Ruggie Bucchi -Â
Would never ask you out on a date, heâs scared.Â
The best treatment that you get before heâs sure youâre not going to be mean to him is that he doesnât pawn your gifts off for cash.Â
Afterward, heâll be a bit more affectionateÂ
Maybe even give you some of his food...Â
Also, hyena courting stuff; Shadowing a potential partner, taking a step forward and then taking a step back, and other stuff like that.Â
You heard the laughing of the beastman before you were able to see his face. He had been following you around for most of the day, but every time heâd take a few steps forward, heâd taken a few back after a second. Now, though, he had his head on your shoulder. âHello, Prefect. Look what I got!â He said, showing you a donut he had probably gotten from Samâs. âYou want a bite?â He asked, when you nodded and took a bite he bit onto the other end, giggling away. âWhat, was that really enough to fluster you, Prefect? Shishishi, I should try doing this to you again.â
Jack Howl -Â
Jack asks you outright if you feel the same way he does, especially if you two are friends.Â
Finally! A confession!Â
He doesnât want to make your friendship weird, so he wants to tell you that itâs happened and either find a way to get over you or have a happy relationship.Â
Very much âWorst they can say is no, best they can say is yesâ kind of manÂ
Aside from that, very loyal and sweet to you before he realizes that he likes youÂ
Also, a pinch of an old-fashioned gentleman in himÂ
Jack had called you out earlier that day to go on an evening walk with him, and so here you were. You were in the mountains, walking at a fairly slow pace. You neared a big tree as the sun set, and Jack took a deep breath. He took your hand, ears on high alert and tail looking undecided between if it wanted to cower beneath his legs or wag excitedly, and said, âPrefect, I like you very much. Please go on a date with me.â
Octavinelle:Â
Azul Ashengrotto -Â
Oh noÂ
He has two moods when it comes to the person he likes; Annoyingly showoffish and annoyingly terrified of you.Â
Somehow, itâs sometimes both.Â
He would talk very loudly about how well he was doing as a businessman his contracts and how much money heâd made.Â
And then you touch him and he just stops functioning.
âOh, look, Jade! Another new high this month! We might even be able to expand!â He cried, glancing at you again and again. This had been happening every time you visited Monstro Lounge; A song and dance of Azul fishing for compliments that he seemed to hate, if him leaving the room every time you complimented him had anything to say about it. This time, you grabbed his wrist as you spoke, telling him how he was doing a very good job. You watched him turn a shade of red and blue, stiffening up as he muttered out a response. âThank you... I will keep your response in mind.â The moment you let him go, Jade stepped in to talk to you as the octopus-mer ran away once more.Â
Jade Leech -Â
As the more put together of the two moray eels here, he gets the âclassierâ side of the coin.Â
Moray courting rituals of wrapping together is often described as a dance, so heâll try to dance with you.Â
Aside from that, I can see him subtly teasing you about yawning in front of him, even if you donât understand why.Â
And feeding you plenty of mushroom dishes.Â
You were stuffed, that was for sure. Jade had invited you to Octavinelle a while ago, and now you were here, eating various mushroom dishes like your life depended on it. He was smiling, another one placed in front of you. âA shiitake and crab stir fry is next. Surely, you have room for more?â He asked, a small smile on his lips. He chuckled when you yawned, âIsnât it a bit late in the season for that?â When you asked what he meant, he only shook his head and brought a filled fork to your lips. âFufu. Just focus on eating for now, Prefect.âÂ
Floyd Leech -Â
Hehe funny unhinged eel man Â
Moray eels like to cuddle, so prepare to be squeezed by himÂ
Also, yawning or âgapingâ (Opening his mouth really wide) at you.Â
Honestly, I donât have a lot of thoughts on him, heâs just a silly little guy.Â
âShrimpy!â You heard cried behind you, Floyd flopping himself over you from behind. He yawned and pushed his head over your shoulder as he spread himself over you so his weight was all on you to hold up. âWhatcha doing?â He asked, smiling at you. Once you answered that you were on your way to class, he frowned, wrapping his arms around you before lifting you like a cat. âThatâs boring! Common, Shrimpy, weâre going to find something fun to do!âÂ
Scarabia:Â
Kalim Al-Asim -Â
For Kalim, I feel as if the second he knows he likes you, you will know he likes you because heâll tell you outright.Â
Before he knows he likes you, everyone else will know he likes you.Â
Running up to you at every opportunity, constantly complimenting you, talking about you to everyone who will listen, etc.Â
Much like the other rich kids who arenât used to being genuinely wanted for themselves and not their money in this school, Kalim will throw expensive gifts at you in an attempt to gain your favor.Â
âPrefect!!â You heard someone shout, running at you from across the field of the flying lesson you were in. âThere you are! Iâve got something for you!â He said, smiling all the while. He kissed you on the cheek, and then reached into his bag, pulling out a golden bracelet. Before you had time to refuse, because it was the middle of a class where it could easily be lost or because of the outrageous price tag, he spoke up. âAnd now we match! Just like twins, see?â He had kept his ones on this time, and you couldnât help but smile as he was beaming up at you.Â
Jamil Viper -Â
Jamil might not be able to show off often, but he does try to do so for you.Â
Youâre busy and canât cook? Heâll get you some food!Â
Youâve torn a hole in your gym clothes? Heâs got a sewing kit on him!
Your homework is about to kill your GPA because Crewel seems to hate having breaks? Heâs your guy!
All in all, he attempts to woo you like a mixture of a 1950s housewife and the stereotype of tutor love interests in media.Â
â-And thatâs how to make a basic healing tonic. Any questions?â He asked. When you shook your head, he gave a small smile. âThatâs good. Iâll help you clean up in here, and then Iâve got something for you back at Scarabia.â His hand brushed yours as he helped you clear up the papers that had been scattered around as you studied. âYou mentioned wanting to try foods from the scalding sands, so I got a bunch of ingredients. Iâll make you a wonderful meal if youâd like.â
Pomefiore:Â
Vil Schoenheit -Â
Much like Riddle, you must deal with him being much more annoying as soon as he likes you.Â
Just this time, heâs annoying you about your self-care.Â
You donât take multi-hour spa baths in the crummy bath at Ramshackle? Well, now you do at the much better baths in Pomefiore every week.Â
You donât have a skincare routine that takes up half your morning? Yes, you do.Â
You will never be in better condition physically but he will continue finding new ways to push you.Â
He does it out of love because he wants you to always look and feel your best.Â
You opened the door to Ramshackle, looking at a mildly annoyed Vil. He grabbed you before you could protest, leading you away from your dorm. âCome on, Potato. Iâm taking you to Pomefiore, and youâre going to get a makeover.â When you asked why, the third year just rolled his eyes. âYou have bags under your eyes, and they seem to be from lack of sleep or stress, if your appearance when you came here was anything to say about it. So, Iâm getting you a spa day and will teach you how to take care of yourself better. If you still canât, Iâll just have to take you for spa time more often.âÂ
Rook Hunt -Â
Rook is a walking love letter.Â
Constantly waxing poetics, and talking about how beautiful you are.Â
You forget something at home and the next thing you know youâve got an arrow shot next to you and whatever you need as well as a heartfelt note is in a pouch tied to it.Â
And heâs just... There.Â
All the time.Â
Heâs in your walls.Â
You sighed, having forgotten your potions textbook for the third time this week. Truly, your memory was your own worst- What was that? A thud had come from right next to you; An arrow with a paper gift bag tied onto it through a deep purple ribbon had been shot into a tree, going right past your head. When you looked into it, there was your missing textbook, as well as a note from the giver. âDearest Trickster, it is a wonder to be in your presence. I do ask, please grace me with those eyes to my face. If only I had those, I would be happy to deliver you your books for the rest of my life.â When you looked around, you saw him; The third year excitedly waving at you from the rooftop of the school.Â
Epel Felmeir -Â
He tries so hard to show you how awesome cool and manly he is.Â
Has the same vibes as a child showing their parents how good they are at sports.Â
âHey Mom, look!â *Kicks a soccer ball and falls flat on his face*Â
Heâs doing the best he can with the skills he has, give the little guy some creditÂ
âHey, Prefect! Did ya see that goal I made at the end?â Epel said, having just finished a Spelldrive game. He had come up to you as soon as he was done, and you smiled at him, nodding and telling him that he had done well. He puffed his chest out at that, looking like the cat who got the cream. âOf course I did! Iâll even give ya a ride on my broom after our next practice, so you can see what it looks like when ya playing. Thatâs be fun, right?â He said, smiling at you widely.Â
Ignihyde:Â
Idia Shroud -Â
Scared boyÂ
Very, very scared boyÂ
He will try to run from you any time heâs nearby.
If you manage to corner him, expect him to be very flustered.Â
Maybe youâll get a sentence or two out of him if you keep trying...Â
Idia had been avoiding you for the past few days, and you had no idea why. So here you were, using the key card ortho gave you to work your way into the room of the hermit. He was hunched over his desk, eyes closed and breathing steady. His monitor was on, so when you walked over, you took the mouse out from him and went to save in his game before you closed it out. He stirred, muttering as he opened his eyes, âOne more round, Orthohmysevenitsyouohimsorryicangonow!â He bolted straight up, hair flaming pink as he pushed the swirly chair back and ran out of his own room.
Ortho Shroud -Â
His big brotherâs best wingmanÂ
Will come up to you and talk about how great his brother isÂ
If needed, pulls up diagrams and chats like heâs giving a PowerPoint presentation on his brotherâs ability to date youÂ
âPrefect!â You heard a shout, the younger Shroud brother coming up to you. âI have something that you must see! You are aware of my brotherâs affection for you, correct?â When you shook your head, he smiled, pulling up a presentation on his iPad. âThat makes this much more difficult, but very well! As you can see here, oneâs heartbeat increases when one meets with the object of oneâs affections. This can be caused by a flight or fight response, which my brother does not usually suffer from when over a call with another. However, when your voice is there, his heart rate spikes dramatically! This means that I have reason to believe that he is in love with you. In this presentation, I will-â
Diasonia:Â
Malleus Dracona -Â
He is going to try to woo you with gemsÂ
And probably other dragon-courting ritualsÂ
I think that out of the beastmen and fae, he understands the least that you donât get their courting rituals.Â
By the name he realizes that you donât think youâre dating heâs already picked out the names of your kids.Â
âChild of Man?â You heard the familiar voice of Hornton call out to you in your garden. You smiled, turning around to face him. âItâs nice to see you again. I have a gift for you.â He said, holding out a golden necklace with emeralds sprinkled in. When you tried to refuse the gift, saying it was too expensive to get âjust becauseâ he only shook his head and put it around your neck. âAll the stars in the sky would be too little to give you, and every jewel in my horde pales in comparison to your beauty. If only you wear this, then you will surely compare to my father when you take your place at my side. Although, I believe you already do in both appearance and wit.â
Lilia Vanrouge -Â
Old fae bat manÂ
He flirts with you, but it ends up being either too old-timey or too fae for you to understandÂ
For the old-timey side; According to Wikipedia, âGifts accompanied courtship in the form of a man proving coins, trinkets or clothing to the woman he is trying to woo.â So, he gets you various gifts, like coins, jewelry that he has, and whatever else youâre interested in.Â
I assume that because heâs such a long-lived fae, they range from âI found this stone in the gardenâ to âHereâs a 1000-year-old artifact capable of destroying the world if you hold onto it wrongâ
For the fae side; Male bats court by making various noises (screaming, honking, singing), flicking their wings/showing off how good they are at flying, and grooming the other party. Iâm interpreting this as singing to you, playing with your hair, and trying to impress you in flight class.Â
Also, him humming old love songs to you and playing with your hair I canât-
Lilia was sitting next to you on the couch, as you flipped through various movies on the television he had in his room. You were in his arms, with his hands in your hair, braiding wherever he could get enough hair to do so. âHey, Beastie?â He chuckled as you sighed at the lack of familiar movies. âI really do care for you quite a bit. Also, thereâs this one Halloween movie that came out a year or two ago. Terror is Trending, or something. We could watch that.â He laughed again and started humming. It seemed to be a classical piece. When you asked what he was singing, he said âDichterliebe, Robert Schumannâs Op. 48., movement 11.â He smiled at you, and then laughed at your confusion. âJust put the movie on already, Beastie.âÂ
Silver âVanrougeâ -Â
The meeting scene from Sleeping BeautyÂ
Thatâs it, thatâs my ideaÂ
Due to the lack of inspiration, he gets a slightly longer drabble, though?Â
You were walking in the woods, pausing at a shallow river, singing to yourself. It wasnât long until you heard a horse trotting towards you. You turned to face it, and Silver smiled as you did. âItâs nice to see you again, Prefect.â He said, getting off his horse to stand next to the river with you. He looked at you, gently humming the same tune as you were. He reached a hand out to pull you in, one hand in yours and the other on your waist. âDo you know how to dance?â He asked, already starting the movements. When you shook, your head, he laughed, spinning you around. âIâll teach you. Copy my movements, but backward... 1 2 3, 1 2 3...â He started to dance with you, slowly going from repeating the pattern to singing lightly. He was softly smiling, staring at you even as your eyes were focused on your feet. However, it didnât take long before his horse seemed to tire of this, pushing the two of you in. âSamson!â Silver cried out, now soaking wet and a bit banged up from shielding you from the fall. âAnd after I promised you an extra bucket of oats to come out here... No carrots for you tonight.â He spoke, looking at you as you asked him why he had done so. Silver only smiled and responded, âThere was something strange about you, and I heard your voice earlier. Youâre almost too beautiful to be real. I thought it was some mysterious being, a wood sprite or a fae. Truly lovely either way.â
Sebek Zigvolt -Â
He tries to protect you like the knight that he aspires to beÂ
He will infodump to you about Malleous or Brair Valley or something else of the sort if you let himÂ
Also, heâs half fae, which means fae/crocodile courting rituals.Â
Crocodiles mainly bump snouts as far as I can tell, so expect many boops from him.Â
Also, piggyback rides and playful nips if you get close enough to himÂ
âAnd that is why Wakasama is the greatest mage in our time!â Sebek finished, still carrying you around the school. When you tried again to tell him it wasnât needed, Sebek scoffed. âFoolish Human! You said that your leg was tired after running in flight class, and so you must rest your legs lest you injure yourself!â He said, bopping his nose against yours. âBesides, you must know by now that as a friend of Wakasama, it is my job to defend you as I would him! In not doing so, I would be committing a sin worse than just letting you walk by yourself! As such, I will accompany you to and from class from now on. Be grateful, Human!âÂ
RSA+NBC:Â
Cheânya -Â
Cheânya will try to pull as many pranks on you as he can Â
Appearing in random places, taking little things from you, and other things showing up in random places you never put them. Â
All around being a little menace and trying to make your daily life as annoying as possibleÂ
You sighed, looking towards the floating smile next to you. It laughed, as you held up the empty pencil case, asking it how he expected you to be able to do your homework now. He only chuckled, the rest of his head and shoulders appearing. âStay pawsitive, Prefect! No need to be so catty!â You rolled your eyes, to which the boy simply snickered and rubbed his head against your cheek. âCome on, my puns are purrfect!â He pulled a pencil out of seemingly thin air, letting you take it from him. âAnd Iâve got plenty of pens back at RSA if youâd like to take a weekend trip to see me.âÂ
Neige Leblanche - Kinda angsty, but not much
Heâs a sweet guy first and foremost, and his having a crush on you reflects that.Â
He buys you flowers, takes you on walks in nature, romantic stuff like that.Â
Maybe watching cheesy old movies with you and cuddlingÂ
He wants to be your friend before he dates you, though, and wonât make a move until after you can see what life would be like if you were dating him considering how famous he is.Â
He needs to make sure that youâre comfortable with the fame youâll gain, and that you love him for more than just his popularity.Â
Neige sighed, biting his lower lips. He was situated in your arms on the floor of his dorm room, what youâd define as a cheesy romcom on the TV. The most interesting part was the man going through his DMâs next to you. He snuggled into you a bit more as you asked him what was wrong, to which he said âJust... Hate comments and stuff. Theyâre really mean sometimes. Saying stuff...â He took a deep breath again, and melted against you. âThank you for treating me like Iâm a normal person. It means... So much to me. I... Care for you so much.âÂ
Rollo Flamme -Â Rollo's got yandere tendency's
Unfortunately, I can in no way see Rollo having a light crush on anyoneÂ
For him, I imagine itâs an âall or nothingâ situationÂ
So, youâll end up with a very obsessive and objectively evil wizard trying to win your heart by any means necessaryÂ
But this is not the post for that, so heâs getting toned down to fit into a little drabble Â
âMon amour, how are you feeling?â Rollo asked you, coming into the area that you were lying in. You had been resting in the infirmary since coming back from the destruction he caused, and he sat on the edge of the bed. You turned away from him, closing your eyes and saying that you had no desire to speak to him. Rollo sighed, âPlease, my dear? I am begging you, just talk to me.â You shook your head, but he took your hand and kissed your knuckles anyway. âThen I will wait for you to want to speak to me again. However, I do ask that it be soon. I cannot imagine my life without you, my dear angel, and I do not intend to live without you forever.âÂ
TWST Boys General HCâs!
Just some HCs for the TWST boys. No real theme to them or anything, and itâs mostly self-indulgent. Some characters will have much more than others, but I made sure everyone has at least one (You can clearly see what my favorite dorm and characters are lol-). Mostly fluff, but Iâll state before the headcanon if itâs angst, or if thereâs a trigger warning, in red. Requests are open if anyone wants :)Â All writing under the cut!
Heartslabyul: Â
Riddle Rosehearts -Â
Gets very tense about things being dirty because he grew up in a really sterile environment with his mom. Sometimes, he gets worked up over something and cleans to calm down, itâs probably one of his healthier behaviors even if he has to work on not getting tense when it isnât perfect.Â
His favorite sweets are obviously strawberry tarts, but in second place is red velvet cake or cupcakes. He likes the color and thinks it tastes like chocolate.Â
He likes trying all of the sweets Trey makes, and sometimes does taste tests like heâs judging them in a bake show. He lines them up, tries each of them, and thinks about what he likes and dislikes about each.Â
Also, he got a hedgehog plushie from Trey, and since his overblot, he has slept with it every night as a form of comfort.Â
Angst, Trigger Warning for EDs - Yeah, this one is pretty self-explanatory. Considering his devil of an almond mom and how thin he looks, I wouldnât be surprised if he had one.Â
Trey Clover -Â
Heâs a huge stress baker. He panics about the Prefect and Aduece duo being in trouble and suddenly the fridge is full of various baked goods.Â
All of the Heartslabyul first years call him dad, but only a few to his face. Those few are Ace and Deuce, who started it.Â
Trey loves trying out new recipes, and he wants to publish his own recipe book one day.Â
Cater Diamond -Â
Cater loves spicy food, which is canon, but my headcanon is that he makes his own spice blends to use on his food.Â
Cater and Trey used to have weekly cooking/baking nights when they were roommates. Cater would cook something, and then Trey would bake something. Theyâd eat together and watch a movie in their dorm room.Â
Angst - I subscribe to the theory that Cater was the housewarden before Riddle. Headcanon that now he thinks that Riddleâs overblot was his fault. Cater wasnât able to help out his underclassmen when this started, since he was too weak to be able to win, and after he lost Riddle spiraled even harder down the road of a tyrant.
Ace Trapolla -Â
Ace genuinely loves the hedgehogs but hates taking care of them because he canât say no to giving them treats, and then Riddle gets mad. Heâs gotten much better at hiding it when he does, though. (Riddleâs just gotten better at not getting mad about)Â
He loves reading those really bad romance novels where you have to pause every few pages to figure out what just happened and why. He has a secret account he used to write fanfiction on but stopped after his brother found out and teased him over it.Â
Deuce Spade -Â
He calls his mom every day at the same time. He does not let anything stop him and Ace likes to stand next to him and make fake moaning sounds to annoy him.Â
Angst, trigger warning for recovering addiction - Deuce used to be a delinquent, and so he did some bad stuff. Heâs currently recovering from some kind of addiction, although heâs doing much better now. He has weekly meetings with Riddle about it, who uses the knowledge his mother made him learn about it to help him. They bond over not wanting to disappoint their mothers and how they want to get good grades to make them proud, even if itâs healthy for Duece but unhealthy for Riddle.Â
Savanaclaw:Â
Leona Kingscholar -Â
His favorite place to nap is the botanical gardens because itâs warm and sunny, like a cat.Â
Back when they were kids, Falena/Farena(Eng. Vs Jap. name) used to braid his hair. They used to put in little beads and things for fun.Â
Agnst - When they were kids they were super close, but then Farena and Leona grew apart because Leona didnât want to âhold his brother backâ after getting to know what everyone thought of him. Farena still calls him every week to try and talk, even back when Checka was a baby/toddler. Leona would never admit it but he listens to every voicemail that gets sent.Â
Ruggie Bucchi -Â
His favorite kind of donuts are the lemon-flavored ones. He likes that they're tangy and not as blindingly sweet. In second place is blueberry, and third is jelly-filled.Â
Ruggie had been pushed to babysit Checka for Leona, and they went to a fast food place together. Ruggie taught Checka how to dine and dash. (And then came back with Leona who paid for their meals)
Jack Howl -Â
He does a morning run every day and then has a big breakfast. He sees it as the most important meal of the day and never skips it, no matter what. He started doing it with the Prefect so that way he could make sure they were eating well/enough, and now all the first years meet up for breakfast on the weekends. Grim+Prefect bring tuna, Epel brings apple juice or pie, the ADuece Duo brings whatever Trey has left over, Sebek brings some fae dish made with normal ingredients so they can try it, Ortho brings various ingredients and Jack cooks whatever Ortho brings.Â
Octavinelle:Â
Azul Ashengrotto -Â
Angst, Trigger Warning for EDs - Azul has really bad eating disorder tendencies. Like, âWell, I had a singular chocolate so now I canât eat dinnerâ bad. Heâs working on stopping it, but right now he canât do much about it. However, the one thing that often works is Jadeâs mushroom dishes. Jade started looking for them and told Azul that they were healthy, so now theyâre his safe food. Floyd wishes it was anything else at this point, he's so sick of mushrooms, but he'll let Jade cook them for Azul even if Floyd doesn't touch them.Â
Jade Leech -Â
Jade doesnât have a favorite mushroom because he feels like if he picks one that makes the others less special. He had one for like a week when he first came to NRC, but felt so guilty he stopped liking it more than the others. (It was Amanita phalloides/the death cap mushroom)
Floyd Leech -Â
Floyd thinks really hard about what nicknames to give people. He tries to get something that matches them, and who they are based on what he knows (Ex; Ace is often âcrabbyâ, Kalim has a âfluffyâ personality like a sea otter, etc.) The exceptions are the Prefect and Riddle, who he just saw and went âYeah. Shrimpy and Goldfishie. Shrimp posture and red hair. Thatâs what they are.â He doesnât give nicknames to Azul and Jade because he believes that theyâre both so interesting they could never be categorized as anything but their name.Â
Scarabia:Â
Kalim Al-Asim -Â
Kalim loves jewelry and wearing it. He often gives it as gifts to Jamil, and itâs why he has so many golden accessories all over. Kalim proves the gold, but Jamil is often the one who picks out the design.Â
Since Jamilâs overblot, Kalimâs started learning how to do stuff on his own. So far, he can (mostly) clean a window and (kind of) cook! Specifically, heâs learned how to cook pasta and add seasonings to soup. Not the best, but heâs trying.Â
Jamil Viper -Â
Jamil has so many snake things because of his last name and he hates it just because he's so sick of them at this point. He often trades gifts with Najma, so he ends up with a bunch of star-themed things as well. On his bedframe back home, heâs got little glowing star stickers.Â
Pomefiore:Â
Vil Schoenheit -Â
He used to buy up a bunch of these Neige necklaces that were super breakable, and whenever he got mad, he would throw them at the wall until he calmed down. Then he cleans up and thinks about what happened and how he feels. Although, itâs a surprisingly healthy way of getting his anger out, especially considering the more violent nature of throwing the necklaces.
Rook Hunt -Â
Rook has a âsecretâ fanfiction account that he uses to write fanfics of Vil and Neige, sometimes together as friends and sometimes. Everything is oddly on point and both fandoms hotly debate what it means when he has a certain character bring up an event he never expanded upon and they never mentioned. His fics even have their fics written about them, including his âOCsâ who are actually just his other classmates who arenât as well known.Â
Epel Felmeir -Â
Epel secretly loves to bake but never did it pre-NRC because it wasnât âmanly enoughâ of a hobby. Now that Vilâs worried about excess sugar causing breakouts and stuff, though, he does it much more often out of spite. (Ironically, Vil thinks itâs great because Epelâs expressing himself naturally and not trying to conform to being manly or not)
Ignihyde:Â
Idia Shroud -Â
He likes to play the TWST version of the Sims and Stardew Valley and gets really into modding them. He likes to make characters of all of his favorite people and then talk to them. Theyâre hyper-realistic to how they act and look too, to the point where itâs either really creepy or romantic depending on how you look at it.Â
Ortho Shroud -Â
Angst - Ortho likes to listen to music and look at art because theyâre the only things that he canât automatically compute. He can do a math problem in seconds, but heâll never be able to have the human ability to connect to art on an emotional level, so he consumes as much as he can in hopes of finding a way to experience it.Â
Diasonia:Â
Malleus Dracona -Â
He has a dragon horde, but instead of gold, which he already has a tone of and doesnât care for, itâs full of grotesques, pictures of gargoyles, and various gifts from his friends and father. He tried to go to sleep on it back when he was little, but nearly crushed some stuff, so Lilia decided to knit him a big blanket to use instead. Later on, Silver and Sebek also pitched in, then the Prefect, and so now Malleus has a horde and a pile of snuggly things to sleep on.Â
Lilia Vanrouge -Â
He calls the prefect âbeastieâ, which I am unsure of if this is canon or not. It could just be a very popular headcanon Iâve seen.Â
I think itâs canon but not explicitly stated so Iâll state it as a headcanon; Lilia was in a polyamorous relationship with both Raverne and Meleanor. I ship it very hard and I need to say it.Â
Silver âVanrougeâ -Â
My main headcanon is that he listed Lilia as his father on all school documents. Not legal guardian, but father. He did tell Lilia, but Malleus saw and did the same thing afterward.Â
Sebek Zigvolt -Â
Sebek has a diary that he often writes in, and by often I mean almost every night. Surprisingly, most of it isnât about Malleus, but rather his everyday life and school. He talks about his friends, and how classes are going, and even occasionally praises his various classmates for small things. It might seem out of character, but itâs just a place for him to vent the feelings that he has that he doesnât want to talk about to others.Â
Ramshackle:
Grim -Â
Grim loves tuna, which is canon, but itâs not his actual favorite fish in terms of taste. Itâs just that tuna was the only thing that the Prefect ever got for him ever since he first requested it because he was in the mood. The fact that they cared so much to get him his âfavoriteâ after he requested it turned tuna into his favorite.Â
RSA+NBC:Â
Cheânya -Â
Cheânya always makes sure to take really good care of his teeth and is very proud of his smile. He thinks it makes him look adorable, and it does.Â
Neige Leblanche -Â
Neige loves sewing and knitting, he thinks that itâs so much fun to make cute things. Heâs worn them out, and often posts about them online. He doesnât have enough free time to make his own patterns, but he hopes to be able to get good enough to do so one day.Â
Neige likes acting, but he loves singing and dancing. He doesnât get to do it as often because he mostly acts, but itâs his favorite thing to do. SDC was so much fun for him, he really wanted to get to perform and meet all of the performers from different schools.Â
Because Snow Whiteâs voice is so high-pitched, I HC him as a tenor by nature, although he taught himself to sing much higher notes, maybe even those of a normal soprano. (A tenor is the higher, often male voice in most choirs and a soprano is the higher, often female voice- Itâs a bad explanation but it basically means heâs got a higher vocal range/voice than some of the other characters when he sings.)
Bittersweet - Neige is just as much of a cinnamon roll offline as he is online. He donates a bunch to charity, and considering his backstory, I think that most of it goes to orphaned or helpless children like him, who donât have an adult around to take care of them. He hopes to make sure that no children have to go into the workforce young like he did to support the dwarves and himself, even if he knows that itâs not realistic.Â
Angst - Neige never wanted to go into acting but had to because he was good at it and he couldnât find any other well-paying jobs for children, so he could support himself and his seven friends. He loves his job, yes, but sometimes he wishes that he couldâve been a normal teen doing his schoolâs plays or community theater rather than worrying about having to stay on top of trends and stuff.Â
Rollo Flamme -Â
Already mentioned this in a previous post, but Rollo is an all-or-nothing kind of guy when it comes to crushes, but itâs a bit more than that. In almost everything, he puts either all of his time and energy into it or he just doesnât care. Friendships, schoolwork, relationships, even little things like chores, he does it all or he doesnât do it.Â
Other Event/Side Characters:Â
Checka Kingscholar -Â
Checka loves visiting his uncle, so much so that he spends at least a weekend at NRC a month. Itâs his favorite part of the month, and he loves that Leona will give him treats and find some time to play with him. (Leona clears his entire schedule for the weekends Checka comes out even though heâd never admit it)Â
Najma Viper -Â
I think Kalim has a canonic cousin based on Jasmine, so I HC Najma as being her handmaiden. Kind of like Dalia to Jasmine in the live-action Aladin.Â
Dream a Little Dream of Me (Twisted Wonderland Cast X Reader)
Summary: A look into the future with the Twisted Wonderland cast, guest staring our favorite magicless prefect.
AN: Can you tell which of these were really hard for me to come up with? Overall I'm pretty happy with them. A few of these I feel like I could come up with full-length fics later. But, man, did I not realize exactly how big the cast was until I started writing it all. I thought I would keep them all to around 500 words but I quickly abandoned that.
Warnings: None that I can think of.
âYou can see the future?âÂ
(Y/N) stood with Ace and Deuce, Grim clinging on to the side of the cauldron, watching the swirling purples, blues, and greens of their latest alchemy assignment come together.Â
âSort of?â Deuce said, looking into his own cauldron, one he hadnât summoned out of thin air this time. âItâs more like what might happen in the future. Like, if you continue doing what youâre doing youâre more likely to get this result sort of thing.âÂ
âIt's not really specific either,â Ace added. âThis is kind of a standard potion for midterms. I think every year is doing it.âÂ
âThe oracleum mycoculous mushroom,â Professor Crewel said, giving a stern eye to the chatting group. âIs said to give premonitions, depending on how it is treated. The method we are using today should give vivid dreams on future outcomes. I recommend when you go to bed tonight, focus on a certain aspect of the future you want more information about. Health, career, wealth, marriage. Something nebulous will work better with this specific concoction. Itâs important to note that you will be aware that youâre dreaming, but unable to have any agency or action. Remember youâre not controlling the vision, just let it happen and see what information you can gather.â  Â
âI donât think Iâll ever get used to this magic stuff,â (Y/N) said, ladling their potion into a thick mug. She screwed her face up. âOr the smell.âÂ
âMore for me then!â Grim cheered, snatching the mug out of her hands and downing the entire thing before (Y/N) could protest. As soon as he had drained the last drop, he turned a strange shade of green, despite his gray fur.Â
(Y/N) pet his head sympathetically as Grim made gagging noises. âThatâs what you get for being impatient.âÂ
As soon as the rest of the class had drunk their potion, with similar reactions to Grim, they were dismissed. The rest of the day went on as normal, or as normal as it could be at Night Raven College.Â
As the sun set and students settled into their beds, some eagerly awaited the possible visions that they hoped would come to them as they slept. Others dreaded the uncertain future. Still others ignored the possibilities all together, not putting stock into an uncertain chance of a glimpse of the future, determined to make their fortune themselves.Â
And so, NRC slept and dreamed.Â
Ace
Ace vaulted over the overturned trash can, dashing after the culprit. His feet pounded the pavement, heart thundering in his ears with every step. The culprit looked over his shoulder to see Ace still in hot pursuit and he dashing out into the street. Cars swerved and braked hard, trying to avoid hitting him, one overcorrecting and swiping into another car. Ace ignored the angry shouts, sliding across the hood of a crashed car with single determination.Â
âAce!â Deuceâs voice crackled from the walky-talky fixed to his tactical vest. âWhere are you?âÂ
Ace quickly flicked his eyes up to check the street signs. âHeading south down Dodgson street!â South? Was that right? It sounded like the right thing to say, and itâs not like he had time to check the position of the sun.Â
âOn it!â Deuce called back.Â
Aceâs muscles burned, but he refused to break stride. The culprit cut through an open air market, shoving and throwing people behind him to try and slow Ace down. Ace tried to catch them while still keeping the culprit in his line of sight. Just when he felt like his lungs were about to give out, an arm shot out from the corner, clotheslining the culprit. The culprit fell back hard, his own momentum bringing him down. Deuce stepped out from the corner, cracking his knuckles. Ace slid to a stop next to them, quickly kneeling down to flip the culprit on his stomach, handcuffing his hands behind him. Stolen mage stones spilled from the culpritâs pockets.Â
Later, back at the Arcane Special Defense Unit headquarters in the Queendom of Roses, everyone was celebrating. Senior officers gave hearty congratulations to the two rookies for their final take down of a mage stone thief ring that had been a thorn in their side for almost a decade. Deuce took the praise with a little more grace, demurely waving off attention, while Ace preened and basked in it.Â
âHey, Trappola!â One of the senior officers called over the din. âYou got a visitor!âÂ
(Y/N) poked her head out from behind the officer, giving a little wave. Several of the other officers whistled and whooped, Deuce elbowing him with a smile. Ace flipped them off and jogged over to (Y/N) pulling her out of the main room to a slightly quieter hallway.Â
âHey, hero,â (Y/N) said, kissing his cheek.Â
âHero, huh?â Ace said with a crooked smile. âI like the sound of that.âÂ
âDonât get a big head, now.âÂ
âHey, youâre talking to a soon to be detective. That deserves some respect, right?âÂ
âSure, sure.â (Y/N) flicked his chest. âYouâve always had a big head anyway.âÂ
âAlright, thatâs it!â Smirking, Ace leaned down, slinging his arms around (Y/N)âs midsection and sweeping her up to toss over his shoulder. (Y/N) shrieked in delight as he spun around. Getting dizzy, Ace tripped over his feet, causing them both to tumble down. Ace pivoted at the last second so he landed first, softening the blow, (Y/N) landing on top of him. They both looked at each other for a moment before bursting out in a fit of giggles.Â
Catching her breath, (Y/N) rested her chin on Aceâs chest, gazing up at him. He held her close, brushing a hand through her hair.Â
âMarry me,â He mumbled. They both seemed shocked that he had said it, Ace immediately blushing with wide eyes. âI - I mean,â He stuttered. âI didnât mean - I mean, I did, but I didnât mean to say it now - Not that I wouldnât want to or anything but -âÂ
(Y/N) silenced him with a kiss. âItâs okay,â She said when she pulled away, leaving Ace dazed. âIâll wait for you.âÂ
Ace pulled her close, burying his face in her shoulder, purposefully ignoring the cheers from the officers who had stuck their heads out the door. He started thinking about jewelry stores nearby.Â
Deuce
Deuce fiddled with the clasp on his cape. He looked in the full-length mirror in his room. His private room - some of the perks of being Heartslabyulâs House Warden. Heâd been fitted for the uniform at the end of last school year, when Riddle had announced Deuce as his successor. And now, here he was, finally wearing it. It felt awkward. He looked awkward. Not for the first time, he couldnât believe he was here, wearing it. It didnât look right. Or, rather, he didnât look right in it.Â
There was a soft knock at his door. Deuce flinched away from fiddling with the uniform like it had burned him. âCome in!â He called. Why did his voice sound so weird? Was that what a House Warden should sound like?Â
(Y/N) popped her head in, wearing the formal entrance ceremony robes. âJust me. Whoa.â She stepped inside, staring at Deuce. She looked at him in awe, a smile spreading across her face. She clasped her hands together. âDeuce! You look amazing!âÂ
He spread his arms wide, trying to find whatever (Y/N) saw in him. âYou think so? I donât look, I donât know, out of place or anything?âÂ
She hummed, walking forward and straightening Deuceâs cape. âI think you look like a fine and respectable House Warden, one that all the new first-years are going to love. Although,â She winked at him and Deuce felt himself blush vigorously. âYouâre a pretty easy guy to love.âÂ
âYeah?â He said, hoping she would ignore the way his voice cracked.Â
âYeah.â She gripped his lapels and pulled him down for a kiss. He wrapped his arms around her. Couldnât they just stay like this? Did he really have what it took to go out there and give a welcome speech to all those new students? Not to mention all the returning students who already knew him, all his mess ups and faults and imperfections.Â
âHey.â (Y/N)âs voice snapped him out of it. âYouâre getting in your own head again. Everyoneâs going to be able to see you just like I do.â She brushed a lock of hair away from his face. âStrong, kind, brave, the worldâs best boyfriend. That part is just for me, though.âÂ
He sighed, dropping his head so their foreheads touched. âIâm glad youâre with me.âÂ
âI always will be.âÂ
âMaybe I can get one more kiss?â Deuce said shyly, feeling himself blush again. âFor good luck.âÂ
She smiled up at him. âSure, for luck.âÂ
Just as their lips were about to brush, the door slammed open. âWhatâs the hold up, Juice?â Ace said, storming in. âThe first-years are getting antsy out there and - oh, I see.â He grinned wickedly and cocked an eyebrow. âNevermind, this is much more important.âÂ
Deuce grabbed the scepter that came with the House Warden uniform. He pointed it at Ace, shouting, âOff with your head!âÂ
Ace cringed back, arms coming up to shield himself. When nothing happened, he looked up, annoyed.âHey, thatâs not your spell!âÂ
âNo,â Deuce said, grinning. âBut I can still whack you with this thing!âÂ
Deuce chased Ace out of the room, waving the scepter. As Ace dashed down the hall, Deuce felt (Y/N) slip her hand into his. She kissed his cheek. âCome on, House Warden,â She said. âThereâs a whole school year waiting for us.âÂ
Cater
âWe on in three, Cater,â The producer said. Cater gave a thumbs up, occupied by the makeup team readjusting his cover so his face didnât shine under the lights on camera. Behind them, the Shaftlandâs Glass Slipper Gala was starting up, celebrities of all ilk stepping out of limos to walk the red carpet and show off the cutting edge of fashion.Â
Cater took one more swig of water, brushing invisible dust from his blazer jacket, and fixed his most dazzling smile. âAlright, ready when you are!âÂ
âOkay, get ready everyone!â The producer said, readjusting her earpiece. âWeâre a go in 5, 4, 3âŠâ She mouthed the last two numbers, pointing to Cater as a blinking red light turned on on the camera.Â
âWelcome, Shaftlands!â Cater said into his handheld microphone, winking to the camera. âItâs your favorite pop culture and social media consultant, Cater! Weâre here at the Glass Slipper Gala, the annual exhibition for all things gorgeous, over the top, and innovative! Letâs see who we can find on the red carpet.âÂ
Cater waved over a few celebrities, getting quotes that, the next day, would be plastered on the front cover of numerous magazines and social websites. People found it hard not to match his energy, smiling and laughing along.Â
Cater had just waved off a rising movie star when he saw someone familiar from the corner of his eye. Weaving their way through the throngs of media, cameras, and various fans hoping to get a glimpse of their bias, (Y/N) gave Cater a little wave. She held up a tray with three cardboard to-go cups, the symbol of his favorite coffee shop emblazoned on the front. Cater cried with delight and beelined it for her. The producer started waving frantically as the cameraman followed his movement with a questioning look.Â
âWe have a super special treat for you, viewers!â Cater said. (Y/N) blinked in surprise as Cater slung an arm around her shoulder, pulling into a sideways hug. âMy wonderful, adorable girlfriend is here! Say hi, sweetie!âÂ
âUmm, hi?â She held up the tray. âI thought you guys might need a break so I brought you a pick-me-up. A blond roast with three shots of vanilla and milk, green tea with half-and-half, and,â She picked up the last cup and handed it to Cater. âAn iced chai latte, size medium but put into a large size so thereâs room to mix in extra cinnamon, using oat milk instead of dairy, two pumps brown sugar syrup, one pump mocha syrup, two pumps cinnamon dolce syrup, three shots espresso, cinnamon dusting, and vanilla sweet cream foam.âÂ
âShe even knows my order!â Cater swooned, putting the back of his hand to his forehead. âViewers, have you ever seen a more perfect person in the whole wide world?â Â
âUh, Cater?âÂ
âPretty, smart, and super sweet. What more could you ask for? Well, you all know I like things a little more spicy than sweet, but my girl has that in spades, too, just between us.â
âShould you really be saying this on air?âÂ
Cater shrugged. âThey can edit it all out in post.â âCater,â The producer said, deadpan. âWeâre live right now.âÂ
(Y/N) gasped as Cater blinked, staring into the single black eye of the camera. The cameraman smiled and shrugged.Â
âOh, well then,â Cater said. In a second, his sparkling smile returned. âThen we should give them a show, right?âÂ
âCater, wha-âÂ
Before she could say anything else, Cater plucked the coffee from (Y/N)âs hands, setting it gently on the ground with his microphone. He jumped back up, taking her into his arms in a low dip, kissing her amid a flurry of flashing lights.Â
Trey
The bell above the door had been ringing constantly all day. The small storefront was full to bursting, children pressing their faces against the glass display case to point at every confection they wanted their parents to buy. Shop assistants in crisp mint green and white uniforms handed white boxes over the counter to eager hands. Two others maneuvered extra seating outside under an awning to help combat the surplus customers.Â
A teen with emerald green hair escaped into the attached kitchen, taking a deep breath of relief. âWell, big brother,â He said. âI think itâs safe to say the grand re-opening is a success.âÂ
Trey chuckled from the counter, squeezing buttercream to swirl atop enough cupcakes to feed an army. After a fire halfway destroyed this familyâs bakery several months ago, there had been talks of shutting down the business entirely and joining up with some of the bigger corporate shops in town. Trey had scrimped and saved and planned to recreate the shop to his own specifics, making sure to blend years upon years of Clover secret family recipes with his new creations. They were still constructing a new upper level for a specialty dining experience. Patrons would pay a flat sum for a pre-arranged dessert tasting menu set up like a full 6-course dinner, using cutting edge technology, foams and gelatin beads and liquid nitrogen ice cream and all the works. There was already a waiting list for reservations.Â
âUh, Chef?â Another worker poked their head through the door. âYou have some people out here asking for you.âÂ
Trey smiled, whipping his hands on his apron. He quickly directed the other pastry chefs in the kitchen then headed out. The group of Heartslabyul graduates, plus Chenya, Grim, and (Y/N), had taken over one of the outside tables. Ace, Deuce, and Grim were competing to see who could fit more cupcakes into their mouth at once while Riddle chided them. Cater was rearranging his plate of mini-tarts, eclairs, and macarons to take the best pictures. Chenya was sneaking treats off everyoneâs plate while they were preoccupied. (Y/N) noticed Trey first, smiling wide and standing to meet him.Â
âThereâs the man of the hour,â She said, meeting him in a hug.Â
âSo, Trey,â Ace asked with a sly look. âHow many free samples are we getting today?âÂ
âDidnât you get enough when Trey was practicing his new recipes?â Riddle scoffed.Â
âYou can never get enough of Treyâs baking!â Grim cheered, taking a large bite of another cream puff as creme anglaise bursted all over his furry face.Â
Riddle huffed at the display of bad manners before turning to Trey with a smile. âCongratulations are definitely in order. Everything is looking even better than you described.âÂ
âIt was a lot of hard work,â Trey said. âI didnât think we were going to make it a few times.âÂ
(Y/N) shoved him. âOh, stop. You had perfect control the whole time. No one ever doubted you. Especially me.â She pulled him down for a kiss.Â
âBleh!â Grim stuck out his tongue. âNot when Iâm eating!âÂ
(Y/N) smiled wickedly and pulled Trey down to pepper kisses all over his face. Grim, Ace, and Deuce made mocking sounds of disgust before bursting into laughter.Â
As everyone refocused on their pastries, (Y/N) leaned over to whisper to Trey. âShould we tell them?â (Y/N) asked. Â
âNot yet,â Trey said, leaning down to kiss the top of her head. âI want to keep you to myself for a little while longer.âÂ
Behind their backs, the held hands, matching rings glinting in the light.Â
Riddle
Riddle jerked awake at the feeling of hands on his shoulders. He heard an âOh!â of surprise. A blanket slipped off his shoulders, pooling on the floor. He was sitting at a desk illuminated by a single lamp, the rest of the lights in the small bedroom turned off. Through the window blinds, he could see it was dark outside. He turned to the person behind him who had tried to drape the blanket over him.Â
âSorry,â (Y/N) said. âI didnât mean to wake you.â Riddle rubbed at his tired eyes, peeling off a loose leaf of notebook paper that was stuck to his cheek. He looked down at the mess of notes and textbooks littering his desk. âNo, itâs a good thing,â He said. âI donât have time for sleep right now. I need to study.âÂ
(Y/N) frowned at him. âYou need sleep, Riddle. You wonât do yourself any good if you fall asleep in the middle of the bar exam.âÂ
Riddle turned back to his desk, rearranging various documents on magical law and court cases. âA good lawyer needs to be prepared for whatever is thrown at him.â âA good lawyer needs to be able to balance work and rest.âÂ
âI-â Riddle sighed.Â
âAt least let me make you some tea and take a break,â (Y/N) said, picking up the blanket and folding it over her arm.
Riddle yawned, blushing at how loud it was. âThatâs⊠a good idea. Thank you.â Â
(Y/N) smiled at him, leaning down to kiss his forehead before walking over to the tiny kitchen.
Riddle looked around. They were in a small studio apartment. Riddleâs desk was shoved to one side of the room, a bed on the opposite side, blankets thrown open as if someone had just gotten out. He saw his shoes next to the doorway, neatly arranged, next to (Y/N)âs. A slightly ajar closet door showed it was split between his formal attire and (Y/N)âs clothes. They had been living together for a while, it seemed.Â
The bar exam was only a few days away. Five years of grueling school was all leading up to this moment. Heâd heard too many stories about how it usually took two or three tries for most people to pass. He was determined to pass on the first try, to prove to himself, and maybe his mother, that he had made the right choice. In his career, in his life, in his partnerâŠÂ
Riddle looked back at (Y/N) in the small connected kitchen, making sure she was busy with the tea. He opened the top drawer of his desk, just enough to peak inside. The box was still there, small black velvet, holding the ring inside. It was plain, just a simple silver band, polished to a shine by his own hand, but it was all he could afford. Originally, he had wanted to use his motherâs ring, the ring that had been passed down his family for generations, supposedly back to the time of the Queen of Hearts herself. But Riddleâs mother hardly approved of his chosen profession over going into the medical field, much less his partner. He remembered the screaming match they had had, how she was absolutely appalled Riddle would want to be associated with someone with no magic, no future as she put it, not to mention no family lineage to speak of. Riddle hadnât spoken to her in quite some time.Â
Riddle sighed, closing the drawer. (Y/N) had worked hard these past few years, supporting the two of them while Riddle focused on school. Sheâd always said it was no problem, that she was happy to work whatever odd job she could so Riddle could focus all his energy on his studies. The least he could do was make a name for himself as a lawyer, provide her with the life she deserved.Â
She set a tea cup down in front of him. âHere,â She said. âWith honey, not sugar.â Taking her own cup, she sat on the bed facing him. âAnd youâre not going to look at those notes again until you finish drinking it and talk to me.âÂ
Riddle picked up the cup, letting the warmth of the tea soak into his hands. He cast a glance at the drawer with its loaded secret within.Â
âActually,â He said. âThere is something Iâve been wanting to ask you.âÂ
Leona
Leona ducked, sliding across the field as a Spelldrive disk hurdled over his head. Immediately, he was back on his feet, throwing up a magical shield as the disk crashed back towards him.Â
The crowded stadium roared around him, stands packed to bursting. Fans wore team colors, red and gold for his Sunset Savannah team, the Lion Guard, and icy blue and white for the Shaftlandâs team they were playing against, the Draugrs.Â
âCaptain!â A voice called behind him. Leona turned to see one of his teammates fly next to him on a broom. âYou okay?âÂ
Leona brushed off the grass stain on his uniform. âIâm fine. Weâre starting the new play, the one we practiced yesterday.â Â
His teammate balked. âAre we ready for that? Weâve only practiced it a few times, and never in a game. Thereâs only a minute left on the clock!âÂ
âThen weâre running out of time!â Leona snarled. âWeâre tied. This is our chance to take the game.â
The flying teammate saluted. âSir, yes, sir!â He flew up, whistling a code to let the other players know to get in position. A few of them cast worried glances Leonaâs way, but their trust in their team captain was obvious as they quickly fell into position.Â
Leona fell back as the ground members of his team made an arrow shape ahead of the opposing player who currently held the disk. Suddenly, as the flier crossed the 20-yard line, they inverted. The two flanking the point of the arrow knelt in front of the player at the tip. He jumped to their waiting hands, being launched into the air. The player with the disk reared his broom back, not expecting a ground assault. The player who had been thrown in the air took the opportunistic distraction to claim the disk, hurdling it to a flier on the Sunset Savanna team. The flier took the disk, hovering it a foot from him with magic, and shot back to the opposing teamâs goal. As the Draugr broom flying players closed in on him, he dropped the disk without warning, to the waiting hands of a ground player. The ground player dashed forward, dodging tackles from the opposing team. As they closed in on him, he tossed the disk back to a flier. This repeated twice more until the opposing team got used to the play. When another ground player got the disk, sprinting to the goal, all Shaftlands players were focused on the flier hovering above him. The ground player faked throwing the disk up and the opposing team jerked their focus upward. Instead, the ground player flung the disk to Leonaâs waiting hands. In the seconds it took for the other team to recognize the play, Leona was already steps away from the goal. He flung the disk, boosted with his own magical energy, and it sailed cleanly through the opposing teamâs hoop.
The crowd thundered around him as the buzzer sounded, signaling the end of the game. Leona took a deep breath, throwing his head back in a victorious roar. The rest of his team joined in, supporting their captain, whooping and cheering to their heart's content.Â
The team gathered together, slapping each other on the back and jumping in congratulatory victory. A few of them cast sly looks Leonaâs way, and before he could question it, he was soaked with an overturned cooler of bright green sports drink. They all laughed as he flung excess droplets at them.Â
As the championship cup was brought out, Leonaâs ears twitched as a sound. He turned and heard them repeat themselves. âLeona!â (Y/N) ran onto the field, smiling wide. She was wearing an old jersey of his, the one he had when he first joined the pro Spelldrive leagues. She waved her hand high over her head, the light catching on a topaz and diamond ring on her finger.Â
He surged forward to meet her, wrapping her in a tight embrace and lifting her up. Without either of them noticing, a camera focused on their reunion, projecting their image on the jumbotron as they embraced and shared a victory kiss.
Jack
Jack held up a hand, stopping the rest of the search and rescue team following behind him. They were trekking up the North Mountain, a popular peak in the backlands in a Shaftlands national park. The snow was more than seven feet deep, and even with their specialized snow shoes they were starting to sink down. They were on the far side of the mountain, bright sunlight blazing across the snow that had been churned up from a recent avalanche.Â
âWhatâs up, chief?â One of the rescue workers asked, readjusting his EMT pack on his shoulders.Â
Jackâs ears twitched, trying to pick up the sound he was sure he had just heard. He turned back to his team. âThis is the last place the skiers were seen. Everybody fan out to your lanes and start searching.âÂ
The group spread out, each taking a 40 meter lane as they walked downhill. Each member of the search and rescue team held a thermal meter reader, strong enough to pierce through the snow cover up to 15 meters down. They also inspected the snow for any other sign of disturbance, trying to see if anyone was moving underneath.Â
Jackâs ears twitched again, picking up on the minute noise underneath him. He checked his reader, seeing an orange mass that was quickly turning blue.Â
âSpotted, 35 meters!â He called out. He unfurled a long thin pole from his pack, carefully jabbing down into the snow. When he met resistance, he slung his pack off and put together his collapsible shovel. He started scooping snow away, flakes swirling up to stick against his eyelashes. Finally about three feet down, he saw a splash of a red coat. He widened his digging circle. âVictim found!âÂ
The most important thing at the moment was getting the buried person an airway. Jack heaved snow away, using his hands now so he wouldnât accidentally injure the victim. He heard another one of the rescuers repeat his cry further down, âVictim found!âÂ
Jack could see the victim breathing, their breath melting a small indent around their nose and mouth. Jack ripped off his glove with his teeth, feeling for a pulse on their neck. It was faint, but it was there. He couldnât see any visible wounds. The next most important part was getting them out of the snow while moving them as little as possible in case there were any internal or spine related injuries.Â
Another rescuer came over to him. âMy laneâs clear, sir. Can I help?âÂ
Jack nodded. âGo get the sled and stabilizing bands.â He saluted, making his way back up. Their team worked with dogsleds for evacuation in these parts, since it was generally less heavy than a snowmobile, and much quieter to avoid any other disruptions.Â
Soon, the three missing skiers were loaded up in the sleds. Jack ran through his paramedic training in his head, making sure he and his team werenât missing anything before they would head back to their base at the foot of the mountain.Â
Arriving down, the team moved the victims, two of whom were coming back to consciousness, into a more comfortable and much warmer infirmary. The hospital in the nearby town had already been notified and was sending an ambulance to bring them back for further care.Â
After making sure everyone was stable and the victims were being treated for any signs of hypothermia, Jack stepped into the mudroom attached to their rescue station, shaking his head and stomping his boots free from snow.Â
âThe ambulance will be here in about half an hour,â He heard behind him. He turned, seeing (Y/N) in the doorway, holding a steaming mug of pear tea. She wore a uniform similar to his, indicating they were part park ranger, part emergency rescue team. She smiled softly and handed it to him. âThey said they had to take a different route around due to the avalanche. I guess it went farther than we thought.âÂ
Jack sipped the tea, letting the warmth infuse into his muscles. âOnce we get these guys taken care of weâll have to head back out, then. Try to take stock of any damage.âÂ
âThe other teams have reported back already. Everyoneâs been accounted for. Looks like your lot was in the worst shape. Itâs a good thing they have you looking out for them, huh?âÂ
Jack looked away, rubbing the back of his head. âWell, we have a big team. Everyoneâs doing their part.âÂ
âAnd you're the one who trained them. Youâre the one who set up this whole search and rescue station. All those people there,â she waved in the direction of the treatment beds, the people pulled out of the snow, slowly warming themselves by the fireplace and with warm drinks. âOwe it all to you. Youâre allowed to brag about it sometimes, you know.âÂ
Jack felt his face growing hot, tail starting to wag despite himself under her praise. âWell, maybe I just have a really good team.âÂ
(Y/N) hummed, standing on her tiptoes and reaching a hand up, threading through his short hair to pull his face down to her level. âAnd I wouldnât want to be on any one elseâs,â She murmured against his lips as they kissed.Â
Ruggie
Politics were messy. Ruggie always knew that, but being here in the middle of it all showed him the full web of underhandedness, plotting, and secrets. But, as the Sunset Savannahâs royal familyâs, or more directly Leonaâs, personal spy master, thatâs exactly what he was there for.Â
Now, during his days at NRC, when Ruggie first started working as Leonaâs unofficial personal assistant, lurking around, being a little more than underhanded in his dealings, did he ever expect he would one day be sneaking around an embassy in the middle of a grand party, planning on swiping some important documents that could reveal plots against the crown? No, of course not. But, man, was it still fun.Â
As he slunk along the corridors, Ruggie eyed the attendance, each dripping with enough jewelry and finery to feed a family of four for a year. He inwardly sneered, hand shooting out to discreetly pocket a diamond bracelet some ambassador's wife, or more likely his mistress, was wearing. But ill gotten treasure wasnât what he was here for, at least, not today.Â
Ruggie cut through a servantâs entrance, turning his coat inside out, turning it from red velvet of party goers to the matte black of the help. He thought it was too easy sometimes. People always saw what they wanted to see. Heading up to the upper floors of the embassy, he spied some hired goons waltzing around the room he needed to enter. Ruggie stayed as far back in the shadows as he could while tracking the one guard who stood a little too close to the stairs.Â
âLaugh with me,â Ruggie murmured, casting his signature spell. He jerked his body to the side, causing the goon to stumble and crash down the stairs. To anyone else, it would have looked like he had too much to drink on the job, or had simply slipped. As the other guards were busy checking with their companion, Ruggie darted behind them, slipping into the room unseen. He made quick work, sniffing out the hidden safe, and picked the lock so easily he was almost afraid he was being set up. Securing the documents in the hidden pocket inside his jacket, Ruggie effortlessly slipped out the window, down the drive, and off into the night.Â
Later that night, Ruggie shook off the rain as he stepped inside the lobby of Granny Bucchiâs Memorial Home for Lost Children. It was dark, everyone fast asleep upstairs. In the morning, all the children the Home housed would wake up, eat a hearty breakfast, one Ruggie could have only ever dreamed about at their age, and go to school in the attached building. Ruggie didnât know exactly what strings Leona pulled to get such high class teachers for the Home, but he had learned long ago not to look a gift horse in the mouth.Â
As Ruggie was about to head up the stairs to the caretaker's quarters, he noticed the lamp light coming from the side sitting room. Ruggie carefully stalked over to the other room, careful to avoid the floor boards that squeaked. He peered in, the warm light of a floor lamp illuminating (Y/N) on a rocking chair, a toddler hyena beastman fast asleep on her chest. Ruggie leaned against the doorframe, smiling gently at the domestic scene.Â
(Y/N) stirred, af if sensing being watched. She blinked sleepily, smiling up at him. âWelcome home,â She whispered. âEverything go well?âÂ
(Y/N) knew just enough about Ruggieâs work, but never pried. They both knew well enough that Ruggie would immediately spill any secrets if she fluttered her eyelashes and gave him one of those sweet smiles. âFlawless, as usual.â He stepped forward, taking the small boy from her arms. His ears twitched as he was passed between them but stayed asleep.Â
âHeâs finally been sleeping through the night,â (Y/N) said. âBut he had a nightmare earlier. He wanted to wait for you to get home.âÂ
âAww, A for effort.âÂ
They walked upstairs to the childrenâs dormitory rooms, settling the small boy in his bed and tucking the blankets over him.Â
âTheyâre having their field day tomorrow,â (Y/N) said as they entered their shared room. She sat on the bed as Ruggie kicked off his shoes. âWill you be here? The kids always love to see you.âÂ
He flopped down on the bed next to her with a sigh, arms behind his head. âWouldnât miss it! Itâs amazing how much energy those kiddos have. You think we were ever like that?âÂ
âMe? No, probably not. I can see you zipping around everywhere, though.âÂ
âOh, yeah, I was fleet footed. You gotta be quick to pick pockets, you know.â She halfheartedly punched him as he snickered.Â
âDo you ever think-?â She stared before cutting herself off.Â
âOnly sometimes,â He joked. âI hear itâs a dangerous habit.â He waited for a moment then asked, âThink about what?âÂ
(Y/N) looked back in the direction of the childrenâs dormitory, each level for a set of age groups from the babies all the way to the teenagers. âYou know, about having our own.âÂ
Azul
Azul flitted around the room, jumping from conversation to conversion, getting just enough of a word in to be memorable, to make a good impression. So far, this, the grand opening of the Mostro Lounge, was a success. More than a success, it had drawn all ilk of upper crust society. Politicians, celebrities, heirs and heiresses with nothing better to do but try and get their picture in the next tabloid. Horderves were being passed, champagne was being popped, and, subtly, between it all, waiters were gathering secrets and snips of conversations from their patrons.Â
The Monstro Lounge worked on two fronts, both carefully cultivated and maintained. The first was the face, the elegant restaurant and tea room that welcomed guests to treat them with all the luxury of the world. The second was more nefarious, the dagger hidden behind the back. Important clientele meant important discussions, important secrets, and important dealings. Whether or not these things were entirely legal didnât much matter to Azul, just so long as he was in on them.Â
It was important that at least most of their patrons didnât notice the dagger. It was better for them to let their guard down, enjoy their night of revelry and relaxation. And Azul, with his charming smile, silver tongue, and perfectly business-like attitude, acted as the perfect cover.Â
Azul was mingling with a group of bankers when he felt a gentle hand clasp his arm. âExcuse me,â (Y/N) said. âIâm afraid I need to steal my fiance for a moment.â The bankers held up their glasses in a cheers as she led him away. She glittered in a black sequin dress, pearls at her throat. On her hand was a delicate pearl and pink coral ring, the coral arranged like flower petals around the pearl.Â
âIs anything wrong, angelfish?â Azul asked as they strolled through the lobby.Â
(Y/N) hummed. âMaybe I just wanted some time with you. Iâm allowed to be selfish like that every once and a while, aren't I?âÂ
âOf course. I think I like when youâre selfish.âÂ
An ignorant observer might have commented that (Y/N) made quite the trophy on Azulâs arm, but those in the know were quick to correct any misconceptions. (Y/N) was just in touch with both sides of the Monstro Lounge as Azul, just as involved. If any of Azulâs more unscrupulous dealings or shady past came up, it was easy for one to dismiss pressing concerns. After all, look at his soon-to-be wife! (Y/N) was more than capable of smoothing over any worries or uneasy feelings. And, possibly more importantly, keeping some of Azulâs more underhanded ambitions in check.Â
âZuzu!â Azul nearly jumped out of his skin as he heard his motherâs voice. (Y/N) took a skilled step back to allow room for Mrs. Ashengrotto to envelope Azul in the kind of hug only a proud mother could give. Of course, the hug was missing a few limbs since Mrs. Ashengrotto was currently in human form, but it was still just as tight. She kissed both his cheeks and, while Azul was always happy to see his mother and show off his accomplishments, he couldnât help but cringe at how the act tainted the elegant and stern reputation he was building for himself. Releasing him, she turned to her soon-to-be daughter-in-law. (Y/N) accepted her hug with a little more grace, the benefit of seeing an affectionate attack coming.Â
Azul readjusted his glasses, greeting his mother and step-father. âIâm glad you both were able to make it.âÂ
âWouldnât miss it for the world,â His step-father said, giving him a firm handshake and warm pat on the back.Â
His mother had started to tear up, (Y/N) patting her hand sympathetically. âOh, my. My little Azul, all grown up. I remember when you were just a little fry, darting in your octopot at anything. Look how big my boy has gotten! Have you been eating well, Zuzu? You look so thin!âÂ
âWhy donât we grab a table?â (Y/N) neatly interjected. Azul cast her a grateful look and quickly waved a waiter over who brought the small group to a VIP section. An aquarium that took up the entire back wall cast elegant blue light over the private section.Â
After the waiter took their drink order, Mrs. Ashengrotto laid her hands flat on the table, looking seriously at Azul and (Y/N). âNow,â She said. âWhen can I expect grandchildren?âÂ
Jade
âAnglerfish,â (Y/N) said.Â
Jade grinned, turning back to her as he held his lantern high. âWhat was that?âÂ
âNothing, nothing at all.âÂ
Jade smiled, looked down at (Y/N) as she zipped their tent closed. The cool spring night air swirled around them, moon bright and sky clear.Â
While Jade mostly lived in the Coral Sea, studying with his parents to prepare to take over the family business, part of his heart would always remain up in the mountains. Heâd published a book last year, Roots of the Earth: Flora, Fauna, and Folklore of the Bald Mountains, which had become a bestseller almost overnight. In depth discussions and depictions of dry land environments were apparently pretty popular underwater. His publisher had been eager for a follow up. Which led him here, camping in the Mount Moln mountain range, ready to set off on an overnight exploration.Â
He didnât, however, expect certain company. Not that he minded (Y/N)âs presence. Quite the opposite in fact.Â
While she hadnât been an official member of the Mountain Lovers club back at NRC, she had participated in a few hiking trips, whenever her schedule, or Crowley, would allow. They hadnât seen much of each other in person since Jade graduated, but they did exchange correspondence regularly. Jade knew that (Y/N) kept up with everyone from NRC in a similar fashion, but couldnât help hoping that his particular letters were a little special. At least, the ones he sent back to her were.Â
When Jade had arrived in Harveston the day before his expedition, he was surprised to see her with the lilac haired Felmier family. (Y/N) had cried in delight and thrown her arms around him, making his heart speed up in a not unpleasant way. Over tea, (Y/N) had told him that she had mostly been jumping around Twisted Wonderland, still trying to find a more permanent place in a land she wasn't native to. With the apple planting season coming up, Epelâs family had offered a position, one she had eagerly accepted. And, when he slyly implied that he would need assistance traversing the mountain and keeping track of his gear and research, she had enthusiastically agreed. They both decided to ignore the knowing glances from Grandma Felmier.Â
They had risen before the sun that next morning, beginning their trek up Mount Moln. While the weather was defiantly warming, small clumps of snow still stubbornly clung on the higher they climbed. Theyâd made camp early, with the sun still up, digging into warm soup the Felmierâs had prepared for them, before turning in. They knew they would be getting up in the middle of the night, so they tried to get as much sleep as possible beforehand.Â
Which brought them back to the present, Jade sweeping his lantern across the trail with (Y/N) staying close behind.Â
âSo,â (Y/N) said. âRemind me what weâre looking for?âÂ
âPanellus pusillus,â Jade said. âOtherwise known as the little ping-pong bat mushroom.âÂ
(Y/N) snorted a laugh. âThatâs pretty cute.âÂ
âThey are bioluminescent. During the day they look like normal white fan-like mushrooms. But at night they glow beautifully. They wrap around tree branches so they often look like string lights. Iâve been wanting to take back a few samples for my project back in the Coral Sea.âÂ
âFor your next book?âÂ
âThat, and something else. Iâve been working on an underwater biome meant to replicate various ecosystems from the mountains Iâve traversed here on land. It would allow sea-dwellers a chance to experience environments they normally wouldnât be exposed to. Iâm still gathering funds, but I think it will be a fascinating experiment when completed.âÂ
âSounds like a big undertaking.âÂ
âDefinitely.â Jade cast a glance over his shoulder, meeting (Y/N)âs eyes. He quickly looked away again, holding the lantern out a little farther so (Y/N) wouldnât notice the red tint to his cheeks. He only ever had to worry about that in human form. âIâve actually been gathering a team to help me set everything up. Having someone native to land would provide a unique perspective. If you would be interested, after your work in the orchards here. I wouldnât want to impose on any previous commitments.âÂ
âI donât think you could impose on me even if you wanted to.â Jade stopped, turning around to fully face her. He watched (Y/N) gulp, readying herself, before she took a step forward. They were just a breath apart from each other now. Her hand reached out, stopping between them. âI - Iâve really missed you. I didnât expect to this much, but then you showed back up and it kind of punched me in the gut all at once. Sorry, I feel like Iâm not saying this the right way. But⊠I really missed you.âÂ
Jade let the silence sink in as his thoughts turned in his head. Crickets, owls, and other night creatures filled the air with their songs. (Y/N) looked down, shuffling her feet. Jade transferred his lantern to his other hand, reaching forward and taking hers.Â
âMy,â He said with a teasing grin. âThis is certainly unexpected. Not unwelcome, of course. What would you do if I said I harbored similar feelings?âÂ
Underneath the soft glow of mushrooms overhead, (Y/N) stood on her toes and kissed him.Â
Floyd
Suffice to say, most people were pretty surprised when Floyd decided to take an engineering course for the first leg of his NRC 4th year internship. With his happy-go-lucky and action-first personality, it was easy to forget that he was surprisingly good with technical skills. Even still, most people assumed he would get bored soon, skipping off to a more physically exciting internship for the next quarter. However, he stayed for the entire year. It definitely helped that the particular engineers he had partnered with specialized in roller coasters.Â
And now, here he was, standing in the middle of a brand new theme park just a few weeks away from opening. When he had first approached Kalim for funding for his dream project he hadnât expected much resistance. After all, both boys could appreciate a good time, whether from an over-the-top party or an exhilarating thrill ride.Â
Floydâs specific idea was for a theme park both land dwellers and merpeople could enjoy simultaneously. This led to the unique structure of Marine Canyon. The theme park was nestled perfectly in a natural canyon carved out thousands of years ago by glaciers. A slim river still ran through the canyon. Half the park was located in the canyon while the second half descended underneath the water of the sea the river emptied in. Guests would be able to easily traverse either side, either by assistance of underwater breathing potions, temporary form transformation potions, or a clever half-scuba half-submersible vehicle Floyd had designed when (Y/N) first met his parents. Â
He stood with his hands on his hips, watching the cars roll along the track of one of the premier coasters in a test run. Everything was going perfectly. In a few days, Kalim would be coming out for the last run-through of testing and they would launch for a media day before officially opening the park.Â
âPapa!âÂ
Floyd turned, wide smile getting even bigger. He crouched down, opening his arms, as one of his sons rushed to meet him. He swept Argonaut up in his arms, spinning him around as the boy cackled. He threw his arms around Floydâs neck, waving at the two others approaching. (Y/N) waved back, walking over with their other son, Caspian.Â
âDo we get to ride it now, Papa? Can we, can we?â Argo asked giddy, bouncing up and down.Â
Cas cast a wary look up at the empty car plunging down the coaster track. âCan we go in the dark ride first? The pirate one?âÂ
Floyd ruffled his hair as (Y/N) answered, âWe still have to wait for the safety checks to make sure everything is working properly.âÂ
âBut,â Floyd told the twins. âThe water park part is ready! And we need testers to make sure itâs fun for humans and mers. Do you know anyone who could help me with that?âÂ
âMe, me, me!âÂ
âWe can do that! Weâre human and mer!âÂ
The boys wiggled their ways out of their parents arms and dashed off, already kicking off their shoes in anticipation for changing from their dry land form to their eel-mer hybrid form.Â
âBe careful running!â (Y/N) called after them. She sighed as Floyd came over, wrapping her in a backwards hug and resting his chin on the top of her head. âThey really do like going between the land and sea. Do you think they have a favorite form?âÂ
Floyd hummed. âDonât know. I like both of them. Itâs just all different, you know? But they can use both their forms here. They can be with all their family and friends at the same time.âÂ
âIs that why you wanted to build it like this? Youâre really kind, arenât you?âÂ
Floyd grinned. âOnly for Shrimpy and the guppies. Donât let anyone else know, okay? I still have a reputation, you know.âÂ
(Y/N) poked his side. âOoh, scary Floyd Leech, big bad family man. Donât think I donât remember you crying on the boysâ first day of school.âÂ
Floyd sniffed. âMy guppies arenât going to be guppies any more! What am I going to do when they get too big to carry, or when they go to NRC and we canât see them everyday?âÂ
(Y/N) took his hand and started pulling him in the direction the boys had darted off in. âThen I guess we just need to make the most of the time we have with them now, right?âÂ
Floyd tightened his grip on her hand, smiling wickedly. âOr we could just make more guppies.â Â
Kalim
âMr. AlâAsim, I need your signature here, please.âÂ
âMr. Al-Asim, when would you like to schedule our shareholder meeting?âÂ
âMr. Al-Asim, I have those reports and next quarterâs budget for you to review.âÂ
Kalim was drained. While he was more than proud that he had managed to expand his familyâs business to not only the sea but also the Briar Valley, he didnât quite anticipate all the paperwork that would come with it. Now that Jamil was off leading his own life outside of the Asim influence, Kalim had taken on more responsibilities. Not that he wasnât happy for Jamil, of course. He was thrilled when his friend told him of his plans after graduating NRC, even if those plans didnât directly involve Kalim. Kalim was mostly just happy that Jamil seemed happy. But he did still miss Jamilâs presence, his guidance, how he always knew what to say.Â
Kalim groaned, falling face first on his bed, not bothering to change clothes. Warm evening sun streamed in from the balcony windows, casting golden rays across the room. (Y/N) blinked at him from her side of the bed, sliding a bookmark in her book. She leaned over to him, gently petting his hair.Â
âRough day?â She asked.Â
Kalim groaned again, twisting to catch (Y/N) in his arms so they crashed down together in a tangled hug. âThereâs so much paperwork!â He lamented. âWhy do we still even have so much paper? Isnât it better for the environment if we use digital or something?â He sniffed, eyes watery. âJust think of all those birds whose trees we cut down.âÂ
âWith great accomplishment comes great busy work,â (Y/N) nodded sagely. âIt just shows how much so many people are relying on you.âÂ
âI guess,â Kamil muttered into her hair. He suddenly perked up. âOh! I own the company, so maybe I can just tell everyone they have the day off tomorrow!âÂ
âMaybe, but then you and everyone else would just have a backlog of work when they come back.âÂ
Kalim face planted back onto the bed. (Y/N) regarded him for a moment before sliding out of bed. âWait here, Iâll be right back.â Kalim gave a half-hearted thumbs up.Â
As (Y/N) padded out of the room, Kalim kicked his shoes off, curling up on the bed. He grabbed her plush pillow, holding it to his chest. Hints of her fragrant shampoo still clung to it.Â
Kalim didnât think he could ever really express how grateful he was to have (Y/N) with him. Not only had she worked hard to repair his and Jamilâs relationship at NRC, but she gave him the in that helped him bring the Asim name to the Briar Valley in the first place. The land of night fairies was notoriously difficult to expand foreign trade to. But (Y/N) with her easy way of making friends and stubborn determination had given him the connections he needed to do something no other Asim had. He signed again, happily this time. It was just another reason he was so glad that she was going to marry him.Â
(Y/N) nudged the door open with her hip. She carried a large silver tray holding a pot of spiced hot chocolate and several small plates with cake slices. âWe still need to choose a wedding cake flavor,â She said. âYour mom has been asking me about finalizing details. Weâre going to look at takchitas this weekend.âÂ
Kalim popped back up, a wave of fresh energy zipping through him. A party! This he could do. Not just any party, but possibly the most important party of his life! He and (Y/N) spent the next hour discussing wedding plans, colors and flowers and music. In between, they would eat bites of cake, chocolate, champagne strawberry, vanilla with raspberry filling, orange olive oil. At one point, Kalim smeared some frosting on his nose. At her laughing, Kalim took a forkful of fluffy buttercream and painted it across her nose. They collapsed together in a giggling fit.Â
âHow about I come with you tomorrow?â (Y/N) asked. âI should start learning everything anyway. I want to be helpful to you.â
âYouâre always helpful! Look, I'm feeling way better already!âÂ
âI think that might be the sugar rush.âÂ
As the sun set, the two of them lay together, crumbs of cake and the empty chocolate pot soon forgotten. As (Y/N) fell asleep in Kalimâs arms, he quietly said, âI canât wait to be married to you, azizati.âÂ
Jamil
The air conditioning in the dance studio had gone out a few days ago and it quickly became sweltering with the aerobic activity. (Y/N) had drug in a large swiveling electric fan at some point that was working overtime to try and cool the room. Jamil whipped sweat off his forehead, watching the soon to debut idol group run through their routine again. Jamil had been working as the lead choreographer for Corona Talent for about a year now. While the agency was still relatively small, they were picking up preeminence, especially with their stylized music videos.Â
âFigaro,â Jamil said to a cat beastman with black and white hair. âYou need to work on controlling your tail. Having it flick around like that makes you look nervous. Sebastian, I know youâre still getting used to your land legs but remember to not lock up your knees, it makes you jerk and youâre more likely to fall. Letâs go back to just before the switch line and take it again.âÂ
While Jamilâs teaching style could easily be described as strict, no one could deny his results and the quick time in which he produced them.Â
A little while later, and combating fears of overheating, Jamil called a water break. The group of boys formed a semicircle around the fan waiting for it to oscillate over their faces. Jamil watched them chat in benign amusement. They were about as old as he had been during the Song and Dance Championship at NRC. Jamil would never admit it, but he had recycled some of Vilâs methods during their training in the Ramshackle dorm.Â
And speaking of NRC, his phone pinged. Jamil knew who it was before he even looked at the screen.Â
Kalim: Jamil! I had an idea for the wedding! What if we have a grand entrance with you riding an elephant?Â
Jamil: You know (Y/N) and I arenât even engaged yet.Â
Kalim: Iâm planning ahead! Itâs good to be ready.Â
Jamil: No elephants.Â
Kalim: What about peacocks? Or birds that warble on key? Or a tiger!Â
Jamil: Do I even want to know where youâre getting these animals?Â
Kalim: ~Secret~Â
Jamil laughed under his breath. Ever since he and (Y/N) had started dating during her last year at NRC, Kalim had basically been planning their wedding. When he had given Jamil two tickets on a week-long river cruise for his birthday last year he had called it a pre-honeymoon.Â
And speaking ofâŠ
Jamilâs phone pinged again with a video attachment from (Y/N). The video showed (Y/N) next to a perch with a red and green macaw parrot. âCome on, Alfie,â (Y/N) prompted. âShow Dad your new trick.âÂ
The parrot tilted his head to think for a moment before tilting to the side and raising a claw in a wave. âLove Dad!â It croaked. He then started vocalizing to the tune of one of the first songs Jamil choreographed for, bobbing his head and side stepping. (Y/N) hummed along, nodding encouragingly. The macaw stretched his wings wide and gave a victorious cry.Â
âGood job, Alfie!â (Y/N) praised, giving him a treat. Alfie shuffled onto her shoulder, nibbling the treat. âSee you soon, Jamil. Love you.â (Y/N) blew a kiss to the screen, Alfie mimicking the sound. The video ended on a still frame of (Y/N)âs smiling face. Jamile smiled, content. Warmth, having nothing to do with the heat of the studio, filling his chest.Â
âOoh,â One of the idolâs said, wiggling his eyebrows in Jamilâs direction. âWas that your girlfriend, Coach?â The other boys cooed and whooping in good natured teasing.Â
âAlright, Sven,â Jamil said, standing back up. âYou just earned everyone another round of drills. Come on, on your marks.âÂ
The boys groaned, taking their places. As they began stretching and doing calf raises, Jamil texted Kalim.Â
Jamil: Do you still have that jewelerâs number?Â
Kalim: :D
Vil
Vil double checked his lipstick in a compact mirror from the backseat of the limo. His eyes cut across the back cab to (Y/N) fiddling with the hem of her dress. âStop fidgeting,â He said. âYouâll wrinkle your dress.âÂ
(Y/N) jumped, smoothing her dress. âSorry, just nervous, I guess.âÂ
âNerves cause wrinkles, too. Besides, thereâs nothing to fret over. Star Crossed is destined to be a hit.âÂ
Star Crossed was to be Vilâs first directorial debut, with (Y/N) taking a lead writing role for the script. The idea had come when the two had been discussing media back from (Y/N)âs world during one of Vilâs photoshoots. (Y/N) had been acting as somewhat of an unofficial assistant then. Although, and Vil would never admit this, he more just wanted an excuse to have her around. As they talked, (Y/N) made references to classic story ideas shared between both worlds, focusing on ideas of forbidden love. She gave a lyrical and poetic soliloquy, one that Vil immediately latched on to. She explained it was from a play called Romeo and Juliet, one of the most famous plays in her world and a story that had been retold countless times. She said it was standard school curriculum in her world and had memorized several passages for homework. Canceling the very hard to get dinner reservations the two had, they instead worked deep into the night, reworking the romantic tragedy between their two worldâs cultural differences, writing the first draft of what would end up becoming Star Crossed.Â
âWhat if they donât like the ending?â (Y/N) worried.Â
âThen theyâre fools with no sense of depth.âÂ
âBut wonât that look bad for you? I donât want a box office bomb to affect your career.âÂ
âI assure you, nothing Iâm associated with could bomb.â Although Vil wasnât in the starring role for this film, instead preferring to focus on directing, he did keep a cameo as the rewritten Prince of Veronia, now the Prince of Fleur City.Â
âWe kept a lot of the traditional language,â (Y/N) continued as if she hadnât heard Vil. She looked out the window, the tall buildings and bustling crowds as they got closer to the theater. âNot word for word of the monologue, but still. You donât think it was too old-fashioned or metaphorical?â
âSweet potato, weâre going to the premier, you know. Itâs a little late to be thinking about rewrites.âÂ
(Y/N) sighed again, flattening her hands against her lap. âYeah, you're right. The costumes were amazing, though.âÂ
âThatâs thanks to you as well, you know. Professor Crewel wouldnât be willing to design for just anyone.âÂ
(Y/N) smiled weakly. She fidgeted in her seat. She switched sides to sit next to Vil instead of across from him. He raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow but didnât say anything.Â
âVil,â She said, choosing her words carefully. âI really liked working with you on this.âÂ
âWell, youâre not the worst person to collaborate with either, (Y/N).âÂ
âWould you want to, I mean, maybe later if you donât have other projects already lined up, do you want to work together again? I mean, thereâs a ton of Shakespeare plays. I donât know all of them by heart or anything, but I know a good couple. Hamlet is dramatic with political intrigue, Much Ado About Nothing is a romantic comedy, A Midsummer Nightâs Dream is another romantic comedy with magic and everyone falling in love with the wrong person, well, that one has fairies so I donât want to offend anyone or anything, oh, and Macbeth is all dark about going mad with power - people said it was cursed back in my world even if we didnât have real curses, it was just something people said, you know, but I was also thinking maybe we could do others like Pride and Prejudice or if you want to do something completely different thereâs this series called Star Wars that-âÂ
Vil abruptly cut off (Y/N)âs ramblings with a kiss. There, in the back of the limo, it was just the two of them, alone in the world. No fans, no expectations, no competitions. Just them, and a warm growing feeling between them.Â
Vil pulled back, taking a moment to appreciate (Y/N)âs dazed face and bewildered smile. âI would love to work with you again, (Y/N). Iâm not sure I would ever want to work with anyone else. Come, weâre here.âÂ
An attendant opened the door of their limo, the roar of fans and flashing lights breaking the stillness on the cab. Vil stepped out in one graceful movement, lifting a hand in greeting. A red carpet stretched out before them, littered with other actors from the movie or celebrities there to give support. Vil leaned back, offering (Y/N) his hand. She stepped out of the cab, blinking at the sudden lights.
Vil tucked her arm through his, whispering, âStick with me. Iâm certain we can get through anything together.âÂ
Rook
Rook flicked on his flashlight, illuminating the cavernous chamber. His team of archaeologists and researchers followed behind him, sliding down a rope through a ventilation shaft into the long buried and forgotten temple underneath an old gnarled tree.Â
âIs it what you thought it was, Hunt?â A fellow archaeologist asked him, shining her own light around the foreboding space.Â
âIâm not sure yet,â He replied. âBut I think⊠Ah ha!â Rook cheered, bounding over to the far wall. He took out his magical pen, casting a fire spell into a trough of dark liquid that ran the perimeter of the chamber. It caught alight, flooding the room to showcase the detailed carvings and relief work decorated on the walls. The team gasped, immediately taking detailed notes of the pictographs and images. Carvings of mermaids in a grotto, a pirate ship looming off the coast of a tropical island, and what appeared to be a flying boy with his arms outstretched were just a few of the designs that had been painted and carved on the walls millennium ago.Â
âMagnifique!â Rook breathed in awe. âThe Temple of the Second Star! Just as we thought!âÂ
âJust as you thought, sir,â A stoat beast-man researched said. âYour instincts were spot on again.âÂ
Rook preened but brushed off the comment. âNon, non, weâve all put so much work into this discovery. You should be proud of what youâve accomplished, nâest-ce pas? But, weâve only begun our exploration. Thereâs something very important here I need to find.âÂ
âIs that safe, sir?â The archaeologist asked him. âWe havenât mapped anything out yet, who knows what itâs like down there?â She nodded her head to a dark doorway leading further into the temple.Â
âAh, but what is our profession without the allure of danger? Allons-y!â Leaving the others to their detail oriented inspection, Rook bound down the adjoining hall into the depths of the temple.Â
Rook traveled down the halls, stopping only briefly to poke his head in adjoining rooms, none of which held what he was looking for. He paused every so often, checking a trap or pitfall that had been left how many hundreds of years ago. Finally, he came to a split in the corridors.Â
âHmm,â He muttered to himself. âI believe it was⊠Second star to the right.â He chose the right passage.Â
The passage led him to a large stone door, once more inlaid with gem studded pictographs. âAh,â he said. âA clever lock. Letâs see if Iâm more clever.â He looked closely at the depictions. A group of four children flying over a cityscape, a towering clock with a large round face, a sun and moon arranged on either side, and, of course, the signature stars. He noticed several of the gem motifs could be moved. He suspected the right one would unlock the door, while the others might lead to disaster. And, as thrilled as he was to see what kind of disaster it could be, he was on a mission. âSecond star to the right,â He said to himself again. âAnd straight on till morning!â He adjusted the hour hand on the clock face, changing it from pointing at the moon to the sun. A mechanism groaned and the door slowly fell open.Â
He swished his flashlights around the chamber. It was littered with jars upon jars on a sparkling yellow dust. He tapped the glass on one of the jars, feeling lighter, his hair floating around him. And, while this was a fascinating discovery, and he would definitely have to report back to the Roi de Dragons that their study of ancient fairy lore had been a success, there was something more valuable than pixie dust he was after. There, in the center of the room, was exactly what he was looking for. An acorn and thimble dangling off a delicate chain - the ancient symbols of a pure kiss.Â
As Rook turned to confront the mechanical crocodile that had emerged from its hiding place, a clock ticking in its chest, he tucked the treasure into his pocket. He shrugged his bow from his shoulder, knocking an arrow, thinking about how beautiful the necklace would look on (Y/N) when he proposed to her.Â
Epel
Epel undid his tie for the third time. Nothing was looking right. Should he keep his hair up like this, in a high ponytail that cascaded down his back? Was his suit not fitting right, stretching over muscles he had worked so hard for so long for?Â
That was one thing directors loved about him, how he could flip from appearing sweet and docile to ablaze with righteous fury in a second. It helped boost his popularity at the box office, his latest action movie breaking records. But that limelight also came with its drawbacks. Like how today, possibly one of the most important days of his entire life, Epel had been distracted with checking with security at every odd occurrence. They had already kicked out a couple of unscrupulous paparazzi the other day. Epel was glad he was back in Harveston for something so monumental, surrounded by his family, but he couldnât help but feel a little guilty at the strain he was putting them all through. But they would always wave him off with smiles, saying that it was the least they could do for all the publicity he had brought to their farms. And besides, what was family for, if not to lend a hand on your wedding day?Â
There was a knock and the door opened before Epel could reply. Vil stepped in, checking a clipboard with a meticulously maintained schedule. âThe cake finally got here, thank the Seven,â he said. âEveryoneâs taking their seat. I knew people would be late - thatâs why you put the ceremony time on the invitation a half hour before you actually want it to start. Now we just need to-â He stopped, looking up, and glared at the cloth around Epelâs neck like he had glared at Epel himself so many times during their NRC days. Vil sighed, setting the clipboard down and pulling at Epelâs tie. âHonestly, have none of my lessons stuck with you?âÂ
Epel felt a momentary sense of pride against the scolding as Vil had to look up to speak with him. âNothing looked right,â He said. âI wanted it to, you know, look right.âÂ
Vil hummed. âAre you sure thatâs what this is about?â Epel didnât reply. âYouâre not getting cold feet, are you? Iâve never known you to be one who runs away from problems.âÂ
âNo, never!âÂ
Vil gave a final tug on the eldredge knot. âWell, thatâs the only thing that matters, isnât it?â He gave one of his rare sincere smiles. âAnd she chose you, Epel. Remember that.âÂ
Epel shrugged. âItâs a lot to live up to.âÂ
âAnd youâll rush to meet those expectations with flying colors. Now hurry up, we have a schedule to keep.âÂ
They had set the ceremony space in the middle of the apple orchard. Soft pink apple blossom petals swirled around the air, beautiful organic confetti cascading over each guest as they took their seat in the circular audience. Epel looked around, smiling back at friends and family beaming at him. His mother hadnât stopped crying happy tears since before breakfast that morning. His grandmother reached out and squeezed his hand as he walked past.Â
A group of local boys had been recruited to play music for the wedding. As Epel took his spot under the flowery arch up front, they began playing. Epel felt his heart thundering in his chest, jumping like a jackrabbit. He felt more nervous now than he did at his first premier.Â
Everyone stood, looking towards the back of the aisle as the bride started to walk down, billowing white dress, cascading flower bouquet, lace veil covering her face. It felt like forever, Epel transfixed. She stepped up to the alter and Epel gently lifted the veil away from her face. (Y/N) smiled up at him.Â
âDearly beloved,â The officiant started. Before he could get another word in, Epel surged forward, kissing his bride. (Y/N) started laughing, wrapping her arms around him to return the kiss.Â
âHey!â Vil called jovially from the crowd. âYouâre ahead of schedule!â Â
Idia
Idia was curled up on the couch, the room dark, light from the three computer screens in front of him illuminating the space and searing his eyes. He chewed on his bottom lip, writing code only to immediately delete it.Â
He sighed, rubbing his eyes. Blinking away dark spots in his vision, he glanced over at the left computer screen where he had taped a photo of Ortho and their parents. Ortho was wearing a directorâs coat, showing off for the camera. Idia smiled, straightening the photo. At the time, when Ortho had volunteered for the position of S.T.Y.X. junior director in Idiaâs place, Idia didnât expect the rush of relief that swept through him. It had been about a year so far and the two brothers talked almost every night, Ortho regaling him with stories of new advancements and studies they had made, his enthusiasm peaked in every word.Â
But what Idia hadnât expected was the sudden sense of helplessness, like heâd been cut free of some invisible tether. Heâd just hang around for a while, working in this tech company, that cyber security industry, before he got bored. He was able to improve every company by leaps and bounds before deciding to drop it and head somewhere else whenever the mood took him. A few military weapons companies had tried to recruit him, but heâd swiftly rejected their offers.Â
Eventually, a small group of eager indie video game developers had reached out in an email he had almost deleted without reading. He knew a few of the names from discussion boards on Star Rogue fan sites. They asked if he had wanted to join them for a new project and, having nothing else pressingly important going on, heâd agreed. Soon, however, heâd found himself absolutely engrossed with the game, bringing in more money and resources than any of the other teams members had ever seen for a similar project.Â
And now, here he was. Stuck. The team couldnât figure out their next steps, couldnât solve problems with the set up and coding. They had hit a wall. Idia had hit a wall.Â
He heard movement from the bed behind him, a sigh of someone waking up. âIdia?â A sleep addled voice called. He didnât move, fingers clacking on the keyboard. He heard movement behind him, getting out of bed and dragging the blankets with them.Â
(Y/N) tumbled onto the couch next to him, leaning her head on his shoulder. âYou said you were going to come to bed like,â She squinted at the clock. âFour hours ago. Idia! You need sleep!âÂ
âWant to get this done,â He mumbled back.Â
âItâll still be there in the morning.âÂ
âI have to work on it now or Iâll lose momentum.âÂ
âYouâll lose your eyes if you keep working in the dark like this. And I like your eyes. And your hair. And your smile. And your-âÂ
âThis code is a total mess. Itâs full of redundancies. Thereâs an explote here that would basically make you able to walk through any wall no problem. And theyâre focused too much on feature creep, itâs like they want to add a cool new gimmick every day. Like, yeah, connecting to the microphone during the stealth section so if the player is loud the enemies can find them easier is cool, but itâs only in that one part of the game and itâs making a whole bunch of unnecessary complications. Or thereâs this part with the poisoning spell basically breaks the game if you unlock it too early. Or this part with the character modeling where-âÂ
âIdia!â Idia startled, blinking at (Y/N). âYour girlfriend is asking you to come to bed with her.âÂ
Idiaâs hair immediately burned bright pink. âOh, yeah, okay.âÂ
Silver
Silver rolled his shoulders, adjusting the weight of his heavy armor. He was in a tent, getting ready for his bout of jousting for an annual tournament in the Briar Valley. This wasnât the first tournament heâd participated in, of course, but there was always a nervousness that built up in his stomach, an eagerness to prove himself as worthy of being Malleusâs retainer, Lilliaâs son, a loyal knight of the fae kingdom.Â
âKnock, knock.â He turned to the front flaps of the tent. (Y/N) pulled aside one of the flaps, sticking her head inside. âSorry, thereâs not really a place to actually knock or ring a bell or anythingâŠâ She cleared her throat, stepping inside. She wore a traditional Briar Valley dress. âWow,â She breathed, taking in Silver in his armor. âYou look like a real knight! Not that you arenât, usually, I mean. Itâs just really formal now I guess. Iâve been able to see everything from up in the royal viewing box with Hornton and Lillia. Itâs great watching you and Sebek, competing and everything. Itâs like a whole Renaissance fair out there.âÂ
Silver set down his helmet. âIs that something from your world?â
She nodded. âIâll have to tell you about it some time. They were always fun.â She looked away nervously, trying to find the right words to say. âThere was this kind of tradition, at the Renaissance fairs, for knights. I think it went back to medieval history in my world. I was hoping you could help me with it.âÂ
âOf course,â Silver said. He took a step forward, closing the distance between them, gently reaching out to take her elbow and turn her back to him. They were so close their bodies nearly brushed each other. âWhatever you need.âÂ
She hesitated for another second before reaching up and pulling a ribbon out of her hair. He noticed it was (favorite color) instead of a matching shade to her outfit. âWhen knights would go for tournaments, they would wear a token or flag from their partner. Itâs for good luck or something.â She twisted the ribbon around her fingers, not meeting his eyes. âI was hopingâŠâÂ
Silver untangled the ribbon from her hands, tying it around his forearm. He felt a swell of pride at how it stood out from his armor, gently waving in the breeze. âIâd be honored,â He said. âTo wear your token.âÂ
(Y/N)âs eyes lit up, a smile blossoming on her face. âOkay, yeah, sure, of course! Iâm glad you like it.â She pressed her lips together, considering something, before adding. âWould it be okay if I gave you another token? For good luck. Not that you need it or anything, youâre going to be great.âÂ
Silver smiled at her nervous deflection. âIâd love anything from you.âÂ
(Y/N) looked around nervously again, fiddling with her fingers. Just as Silver was about to speak, she reached up, wrapping her arms around his shoulders, and pulled him down for a kiss.Â
Lilia
Lilia leaned against the railing of the barge, watching the glowing red lanterns float gently above the river, their reflections casting ruby ghosts against the dark water below. The Floating Lantern Festival in the Land of Red Dragons never failed to excite, but this year was especially memorable.Â
âItâs even more beautiful that you describe it,â (Y/N) breathed in awe next to him, stretching out over the barge railing to take in every sight and sound around them. Her eyes trailed the parade along the banks of the river, party goers dressed in red hanfu carrying more lanterns and a long red paper dragon on tall sticks.Â
âThe best stories are the ones you experience in person,â He said.Â
Theyâd been traveling together for a while now, by boat, by train, on foot, exploring the whole world. (Y/N) had always been bothered that she had no frame of reference for the world of Twisted Wonderland, no practical understanding of its cultures and countries. Lilia tried to alleviate some of her frustrations with stories about his numerous travels before finally deciding a more hands-on presentation would be a better fit.Â
Lilia snuck up behind her as she marveled at the lanterns drifting into the night sky. He suddenly grabbed her shoulders, as if to push her off. She gasped and turned to give him a halfhearted glare as he laughed.Â
âWell?â Lilia asked. âDo you feel more prepared to conquer the world now?âÂ
(Y/N) frowned. The Land of Red Dragons was meant to be the last stop on their tour. (Y/N) had said she had no real plan for after the journey. While the multitude of friends she had made during her years in school were more than happy to lend her a place to stay during their travels, (Y/N) had confided in Lilia that she felt like she was taking advantage of their good nature if she lingered to long, without finding work or direction in this strange world. Maybe she would return to NRC to see if Crowley had any work for her? (He always did.)Â
âI mean, I suppose?â She said. âEverything has been so wonderful. Itâs almost a shame to be stuck in one place after all this.â She gave a mirthless laugh. âI can see why you like moving around so much.âÂ
Lilia hummed, leaning back against the railing. He turned, considering (Y/N)âs profile, lit against the red glow of the lanterns. He felt himself pause, lost in the marvel of her eyes, full of delight and wonder at everything around them. There was a strange stirring in his chest, one he had experienced multiple times over their journey together, a feeling he hadnât had in almost 500 years.Â
Lilia shook his head, trying to reign his focus back in. âYou know,â He said, casually. âIâll be heading back out again soon. Malleus came up with the idea of sending out ambassadors from the Briar Valley, trying to strengthen relationships between fairies and the rest of the world.âÂ
(Y/N) nodded. âThat seems like something he would do. Youâre going to be the first one, then? It seems like a good job for you.âÂ
âNot necessarily the first.â (Y/N) turned to look at him and Lilia felt himself squirm under her direct gaze. Goodness, he would have thought he was a lovestruck teen of 200 years by the way he was acting. âI proposed that you should join me as an ambassador. I thought it might make things easier, having a fellow human to represent dual interests. And, I must admit,â He purposely looked away. âIâve grown fond of our time together.âÂ
When (Y/N) didnât reply he looked back at her. She was smiling up at him and he felt his heart stutter. âIâd like that a lot,â She finally said. Which part she didnât specify. He didnât need her to.Â
As they watched the lantern festival continue around them, their hands slid together on the railing, fingers entwining. Â
Sebek
Sebekâs heart was beating a mile a minute. He knelt in front of Malleus, in the grand throne room, crowds of nobles eagerly watching his knighting ceremony. Â
Malleus, regal sword in hand, stood over him. âSebek Zigvolt,â He said, voice echoing around the chamber. âDo you so solemnly swear to uphold the code of knightly honor, to defend the Briar Valley with all your might, your will, and your faithfulness?â âI do,â Sebek replied, trying to keep his voice to a reasonable volume, not letting his giddiness shine through.Â
âDo you so solemnly swear to serve your king and country and never waver from your duty?âÂ
âI do.âÂ
âAnd do you so solemnly swear to be truthful to yourself, loyal to your loved ones, and show bravery in the face of doubt and fear?â
âI do!âÂ
Malleus smiled down at his friend, pride for his retainer crinkling the corners of his eyes. âThen, as rightful king and ruler of the land of night fae and the Briar Valley, I hereby dub thee, Sebek Zigvolt, high knight and warrior to the crown.â Malleus lowered his sword against Sebekâs shoulders and the crown of his head. âStand and receive your blessing.âÂ
Sebek stood, fist thumbing against his chest. Cheers started up from the assembly. Happy tears pricked the corners of Sebekâs eyes, his smile wide as he tried to keep a serious face for the occasion.Â
After the ceremony, everyone congregated in one of the grand ballrooms of the palace. Sebek stood with his mother, father, and grandfather. His mother was flitting over him, brushing away an invisible speck of dust every other second.Â
âMy darling boy!â She cried. âLook how big youâve gotten! Oh, youâre so official now! Dear, what happened to our little Sebek?âÂ
âYouâve done a lot of hard work, Sebek,â He father said, nodding proudly. âYou should be proud of everything youâve accomplished.âÂ
âOf course heâs proud,â His grandfather scoffed. âHeâs a Zigvolt! Greatness and duty is embedded in our history!âÂ
His mother rolled her eyes. âYes, yes, Papa, so youâve said many times.â Her eyes cut behind Sebek, smiling and taking hold of either of the two menâs arms. âWell, we wouldnât want to monopolize your time, Sebek. There are many people who want to congratulate you, after all. Come along, dear, Papa!â Ignoring their protests, his mother dragged them away.Â
As Sebek waved in a confused good-bye, he felt a thump on his back. âLook at you!â He heard a familiar voice say. âSo do I have to call you Sir Zigvolt now or something?â Sebek turned to see (Y/N) beaming up at him. It was surprising enough to see her here, but Sebekâs breath caught in his throat as he saw her dress. Zigvolt colors. She was wearing Zigvolt house colors.Â
âH-hum- Er, (Y/N)? What are you doing here?âÂ
âHorton invited me! Or, I guess I should say King Malleus here, shouldnât I? Well, either way, he told me you were having your official knighting ceremony. And I got a letter from your mom, too! She thought it would be a fun surprise to have your friends from school show up to support you.â She indicated one of the banquet tables across the room. Sebek saw Grim, Ace, Deuce, Jack, Ortho, and Epel milling around, all dressed in their own formal wear, catching questioning glances from the various fae knights and nobles.Â
But they werenât wearing his house colors. So why was she? And why did it make his heart thrum like that?Â
A band started up, couples taking their places along the dance floor. âAh, would youâŠ?â Sebek felt like he couldât find the right words. He couldnât understand why he was suddenly falling all over himself like this.Â
(Y/N) clasped his hands in hers. âIâd love to dance! I might not know all the steps, since this seems pretty fancy and formal, but youâll just have to show me, okay?â Sebek nodded stiffly as she pulled him to the dance floor.Â
Sebek took one of her hands in his, his other settling on her waist. He felt it burn with the contact. As he swept her along the floor, he finally said, âYour dressâŠâ But couldnât manage to finish, his thoughts tumbling around. Had it really been so long since graduation? Since he had last seen her? Sure, they had written multiple times, he kept up correspondence with many NRC alumni, but how had she changed this much since then? Had her eyes always shined that way? Was her hair that beautiful? Was her smile that dazzling?Â
âOh, your mom lent it to me,â She said. âI didnât have anything that would fit, so she lent me one of her old ones. Although with all the adjustments I think it might just be mine now. Do you like it?âÂ
âYou look like a Zigvolt,â He said.Â
âOh.â She seemed surprised at that, heat rising to her face. They turned around the floor a few more times. âYou know, youâll be seeing a lot more of me soon.â
Sebek felt his heart flip. âIâll have to put up with you more, you mean.âÂ
(Y/N) stifled a laugh and gently hit his chest. âRude. I mean Horton offered me a position here. Ambassador for human and fairy relations. Iâm not totally sure what it will be like next, but heâs given me a townhouse just next door. Itâs near your parents, I think. So, you know, Iâll be around. If you ever want to see me or anything. Or I guess if I want to see you, Iâll know where to come to bug you.â She laughed awkwardly.Â
Sebek unconsciously tightened his grip on her hand. âI think I wouldnât mind that. Itâs a knightâs duty to look after those he cares about, after all.âÂ
MalleusÂ
Malleus turned over in his bed, hands crumpling the sheets next to him. He was in his chambers back in the palace in the Briar Valley. The bed next to him was cold. Cool dawn light was just beginning to spill through his window behind the heavy velvet curtains.Â
The dreaming Malleus, the one all too aware this was a premonition of a possible future, sighed. He had completed this potion many times, both at NRC and in his private education in the Briar Valley. And, no matter how many times he drunk the noctious concoction, his future always remained the same. A lonely bedchamber, government work, fawning lords and ladies vying for his favor. If he was lucky, he would get to interact with Lilia, Silver, or Sebek. Although he dreaded the times when he could clearly see age lining their faces while he remained the same.Â
The door to his chamber creaked ever so slightly. Someone was entering. The dream Malleus, the one projected in this future vision, tensed in his bed. The dreaming Malleus, forced to watch everything unfurl, was confused. Was this some sort of half-baked assassination attempt? Had relations between the country of fae and the rest of the world degraded to such an extent under his reign? Was he destanted to watch his own death?Â
The dream Malleus closed his eyes. There was a sound of soft padding feet, a giggle, then a sharp hush. The intruders were right next to him now.Â
âReady?â A voice whispered, familiar but changed with time. âOne, two, threeâŠâÂ
âHappy birthday, Papa!âÂ
The dream Malleus opened his eyes, a slow and easy smile crossing his face. The curtains were thrown open, revealing the three young boys standing at his bedside, rosy cheeked, green eyed, and horns curling up from their ebony locks. One of them held a plate stacked high with pancakes, dripping with strawberry syrup. Another held a party popper, which he pulled releasing a torrent of confetti and ribbons. The third held a paper card tightly in his hands, his grip causing it to crumple at the edges.Â
âDid we wake you up, Papa?â The boy with the card asked in a concerned voice, pouting.Â
Malleus smiled, sitting up in bed as the young boys climbed up to sit around him. âNot at all, Grimwald. Whatâs that you have there?âÂ
Grimwald shyly held the card out. Malleus gently pried it from his fingers. It was obviously homemade, colored pencil drawings of a family of five holding hands across the cover, four with Darconia horns crowning their heads. He opened the card. There was a large birthday cake drawing inside, with the words âHappy Birthday!â in large blocky lettering above it. Around the cake, the artists had scribbled their names: Grimwald, Lilianos, and Malachite.Â
âThey wanted to surprise you,â A soft voice said. Malleus, both in and out of the dream, felt his heart skip a beat as (Y/N) came around the bed. She sat down at the edge, catching the plate of pancakes from Malachite so they wouldnât splatter on the floor. She turned to him, carding her fingers through his hair, and leaned forward to kiss his forehead. âGood morning, Horton. Happy birthday.âÂ
âWe made them ourselves!â Malachite proudly proclaimed. âGrandpa Lilia showed me how!âÂ
âDonât worry,â (Y/N) whispered to him. âI supervised.âÂ
âDo you have to work today, Papa?â Lilianos asked. âYou canât âcause itâs your birthday, right? You have to stay and play with us today.âÂ
Malleus gathered his boys together so they all fit on the bed. âBirthdays are family days. Iâd love nothing more than to spend the entire day hearing about how youâve been terrorizing the palace.âÂ
âOh, oh!â Malachite called, hand shooting up. âI breathed fire and it burned up the curtains in the grand dining room!âÂ
(Y/N) looked at him sideways. âOn accident, right?âÂ
Malachite blushed. âYes, Mama.âÂ
âCan we go watch the knights train?â Lilianos asked. âUncle Sebek and Uncle Silver said they would teach us to ride a horse!âÂ
âWhy would you want to ride a horse when you can fly?â Malachite said, spreading his arms wide.Â
âI want to go to the menagerie,â Grimwald added. They began to talk over each other, making plans for their fatherâs birthday without his input.Â
Malleus smiled, watching his family. He turned back to (Y/N). She smiled at him, as glorious and warm as the sun after a year of frozen nights. He reached up, cupping her face, and brought her close.Â
âI always knew my future would bring me to you.âÂ
Just a thought (I am not confident enough w my writing to write this out like as a whole fanfic soâŠ)
- imagine you are a siren, and you work under Azul as a sort of trap for the boys of NRC so that Azul can get more contracts.
- as a siren, youâre naturally alluring, and you amped it up considerably ever since you signed a contract w Azul. You get paid by the amount of people who pay him / sign a contract with him.
- letâs say the way this works is generally simple: you find a man, your target, and flirt with him. Your melodic voice lured him in, and your touches were so fleeting to him. You tell him you love a man who is open about his feelings, so he tells you about his sorrows. You tell him that Azul can fix these problems. (Or, if youâre really cold, you tell him that you canât be with him because he isnât pretty enough, causing him to go to Azul to fix that).
- No matter the method, you are very good at luring them in. All for the expense of your love and affections, or that they genuinely believe that Azul can help them because why would someone as beautiful and sweet as you lie to him?
- When the day is done, you make a trip to Azulâs office and collect your payment. Youâre so valuable that weekly or monthly paychecks arenât enough - youâre an expensive siren, and you need the best to keep up your appearance!
- Of course, Azul obliges. Ever since you showed up, business has been booming! You kiss him on the cheek everytime, you were a sort of dog on a leash for him. (And honestly you didnât really mind, the idea of you with a chain around your neck with Azul holding the other end and smirking down at you is pleasant imagery. Youâre a siren! Youâre born to be promiscuous!)
- You were easy to maintain compared to the twins, you found it fun to trick people, to see men grovel and weep for you, about their issues, and for them to inevitably not fulfil their contracts and have to work for Azul for however long.
- However, Azul was⊠changing. Heâs been giving you some excuses for you to see him whenever possible, he believed that maybe if you saw him more in his office, youâd leave him with a new kiss mark each time. But no - youâd only ever do it if youâre collecting your paycheck.
- sometimes he would ramble about his business and youâd go âaw, wow, Iâm happy for you! Good job, darling~â and his stomach would do flips but he would reprimand you with a blushing face.
- Jade and Floyd are catching on, you can hear them chuckling or Floyd going âhey hey, Azul, you got a thing for the siren now~?â Or âgross⊠PDA, keep that to yourself!â
- and what doesnt help at all is the fact you have been going online putting yourself on the line. The boys you send in always go âI want (Y/N) to be mine! You canât keep them here against their will!â
- have you been telling people that youâre kept here against your will? Azul suspects itâs just to make them scared and have a sense of urgency to protect you or to save you like a âwoe is me damsel/dude in distressâ sort of thing, but what if itâs true?? Do you hate him?
- Contracts have become even more stressful than usual now too. Of course with you on the line, Floyd and Jade have to make sure that the contract fails each time, so that you donât get taken from him.
- and then you laugh when he tells you off and just blow him a kiss? Like! The nerve! Seriously, listen to him, will you?
- one day, when you came to pick up your check after a week of this âIâll save (Y/N)â nonsense, you got the check from his desk and walked out WITHOUT giving him a kiss on the cheek.
- âarenât you forgetting something?â He asked, and you turned around with a smirk. âOh, did I?â He felt his skin turn red with embarrassment, like a tomato. He always thought he had you on a leash, but it turns out it was the other way around. Heâd been waiting all day, like a dog waiting for its owner, for its treat - your affection, your kisses, and your kiss marks which he kept on until the next morning where he HAD to take them off for school.
- you gave him two kiss marks to make up for the fact that youâve been such a pain the last week, and you know it because heâs been looking more stressed out and crazier than usual.
- âplease stop telling people youâll be with them if it werenât for me..â âwhy?â âBecause, well, youâre a valuable asset and you made a contract with me, and you have to fulfill it. Besides, you donât actually hate me that much.. yes? Right?â He asked, clearly seeking for reassurance.
- You shook your head and put a hand on his cheek, and gave him a kiss. He literally nearly jolted like he got shocked from Jade or something when you did. You pulled back and giggled while walking out of the room.
- great seven, why did he have to feel this way about *you*? A siren? This is surely more trouble than itâs worth, and what would pining after you do for Monstro Lounge?
- ⊠well, for once, he might care about something more than the lounge. And it was you; his very own employed siren.
So trash ik but I canât use it for an oc so someone else pls make this better for me if u can write PLEASE PLSPLSPLSPLSPLSPSLSLL
