Michael Sheen and 'Best Interests'
For all you lovelies out there in Tumblr-land who've spoken to Michael's "The Assembly" answer admission to crying like "every day," I submit for evidence his role in the BAFTA-nominated series "Best Interests." All four episodes are available on BBC iPlayer (and for those of you like me who are Stateside, download the Windscribe app to watch).
His deep-dive submersion into this character is utterly, devastatingly, heartbreaking, gorgeously beautiful. Not only do we get to see Michael completely inhabit a creature so fully conflicted, so relatable as a dad, so fully immersed with his cadence of delivery, you're going to cry weep shed tears along with EVERYONE in the final scenes.
Michael, Sharon Horgan, Alison Oliver, Noma Dumezweni and especially Niamh Moriarty are portraying people that you may know in real life, confronting family issues that absolutely no one should ever have to undertake.
As an aside... I know all of us here in the Sheenant Universe are hoping for a Tennant BAFTA blessing - which he so richly deserves. However, if 'Best Interests' does win in the Limited Drama Series category (which if I'm not mistaken would go to the executive producers and/or producer, two of whom are Michael Sheen and Sharon Horgan), what a brilliant night that would be.
Thank you @michaelsheendaily and @invisibleicewands for the GIFS.
If I’m not mistaken Bohemian Rhapdosy is nominated for 4 BAFTAs and Rami for best actor ! I‘m so proud of them :,)
(Thank you for telling me, actually are 7 NOMINATIONS!)
Congratulations Mr Wincott! Thank you for making Raphael alive with your voice!
I’m so happy non-binary and gender non-comforming people are getting recognition for their amazing work!!!
…I’d be even happier if they didn’t have to be misgendered to receive said recognition but I guess Hollywood and Broadway are somehow less inclusive than the fucking DMV
Dame Judi: “I thought you were going to be that beautiful Michael Sheen” followed by the biggest *sigh* in the world….
“The shadow of English culture has loomed large in my life. […] But the most important figure from (the) English legacy is, incredibly for me, a teenager by the name of Mary Shelley”
