i just finished the be more chill book and?? i did NOT expect the squip to be so nice?? he’s just kinda stupid not evil like the musical

Since one of my mutuals (hehe shoutout @nato-obenkrieger) was posting about the Be More Chill book, I thought I'd post about some stuff in the book that I found intresting/or liked (I wanna yap, let me yap):

Be More Chill book sequel where Jeremy gets Squip 4.0 and it’s heckin OP and fixes everything and he gets to be happy

I kind of liked how the book ended with Jeremy not getting with Christine, and I kind of hope he doesn’t afterwards. He didn’t respect her boundaries and she didn’t really respect him as a person, and I don’t think they would have been good together. Also, it’s a nice change from the whole “main character wins the girl” trope.

I have pieced together the canon description of book Jeremy

So in the book, the squip tells Jeremy about how movie actors use squips and it says, "How do you think they remember all those words?" and Jeremy's cool with it, but even disregarding the fact that squips are a recent development and people have been remembering lines for movies long before they existed, which Jeremy probably knows, Jeremy's a theater nerd. He's memorized lines for multiple plays just fine.

wow the BMC book is interesting (spoilersssssss~~)

Wow so... I started reading the Be More Chill book this morning, and keep in mind, I already know a lot about the musical, and have listened to the soundtrack multiple times- so seeing the original version is just... shocking. It’s.. so different than the musical. First of all... Michael is a “tall white boy with a white-boy afro..” So reading this with my own two eyes and then thinking of how Michael is portrayed in the musical hur t s. Also book Michael likes Asian girls. Also... book Christine is.... overall just a bitch mean character. First of all, she has blonde hair (not that there’s anything wrong with that- just stating the differences), and she isn’t as light hearted. She takes more offense to things Jeremy says rather than make him feel better. Also she wears jeans in one of the chapters?? Which seems so ooc???? Sorry for sounding weird, but going from Musical to book probably wasn’t the best transition. Anyways, as we all know, Jeremy is an awkward mess who can’t talk to girls, and then, while he’s in the middle of a conversation with Christine, she says “You know what? I hate boys who are bad conversationalists.” She shakes her head. “It’s insurmountable.”. likE HONEY???? ARE YOU TRYING TO MAKE HIM MORE INSECURE??? And then, she goes to look for something that fell out of her bag, so Jeremy helps (like the good boy he is), and he finds it and tries to pick it up for her anD SHE PUSHES HIM AWAY AND TELLS HIM HE SHOULDN’T TOUCH “girls stuff”. B I N C   H. 

so yeah. that’s my interpretation so far.

i’m currently about 22% finished with the book (yes I did the math shut up), so, as I go on, I might give more..... opinions/views??? idk
