Cheater! Shinsou x Reader
Ive never been cheated on but i have had people in my life who have experienced the betrayal of a partner being with someone else. Some of them yelled, others cried, maybe some choice words here and there to put into place how much of a horrible person their ex-partner was for cheating on them.
But there is always that one person. That one person who does something different then the rest. This was your predicament. You won't cry in front of your cheating partner but instead take action. You would leave and won't care what you left behind because to be honest with you, if i were you, i would also not think twice about my cheating partner. You aren't sticking around to be toyed with after you gave them your all.
W: Cheating (Constant), A Lot of Angst

You had everything planned out for your special day. The gifts, the food, the outfit you were going to wear. Shinsou and you had been together for over 5 years at this point, started dating since your second year at UA. You made a note in the calendar you both shared about your anniversary date. It wasn’t like you hadn’t made the effort to remind him about the special day. But you guessed that duty calls. Maybe he was busy with some villain…at 3 am.
It wasn’t abnormal for Pro Heroes to work long hours, but Shinsou had been gone from your shared home since 12 in the afternoon. You tried telling yourself that work was work and that hero work especially was unpredictable. But when he did this consistently, it was just ridiculous at this point. He wouldn’t call you to tell you not to wait for him and he wouldn’t say anything when he would come back from work. So here you were, standing in the middle of your kitchen in your nice outfit for your supposed 5 year anniversary dinner and your boyfriend was yet to show. Frustrated and upset you cleaned everything up and just went to bed. It was lonely and cold, no other person sharing the space with you to help you drift off. You pass out from the exhaustion, you've cried yourself to sleep that night. Just like every other night.
The next morning you woke up to the site of your boyfriend “getting up” from his side of the bed. Hes done this before, pretending that he got back around 1 or 2 in the morning. Almost like he thought you wouldn't stay up waiting for him to come back. Maybe he should’ve been smarter and not treated you like an idiot because he was showing you his fully exposed back. He had scratches on him. The red marks looked different front he ones he would get from fighting criminals on a daily bases, they also overlapped scarring that you remember taking care of. Maybe if he was smarter he would have hidden the hickeys on his neck better and maybe he would’ve made sure he didn’t have someone else’s lipstick stain on him. Maybe if he was just a good boyfriend he would have at least tried to cover it all up by taking a shower when he got back.
“Good morning baby. How did you sleep?” He looked so happy. The man smiled at you, flashing his teeth at you playfully. Almost happy to see you that morning, like you both dont see each other every time you wake up. He looked so…fine. Like nothing was wrong. Content with the situation. He was everything you weren’t at the moment. This was your "adoring" boyfriend who you wasted 5 years of a relationship with just to have him come back to you with someone else’s markings on him.
You don’t know what possessed you in the moment. Maybe it was the fact that you felt nothing but anger or maybe it was the emptiness you felt simultaneously. God, you wanted to hurt him. Why the fuck was he so happy when he clearly replaced you? Why was he acting the same way he did when you first got together? Why did he look at you like you were his everything when you clearly weren't anymore? Were you ever?
“I want to break up.” That quickly wiped the smile off his face. Your boyfriend looked confused. Almost like he couldn't feel the soreness in his skin from what he did last night.
“That’s…not a funny joke, Y/n.” He tried playing it off as you got up from your shared bed and started to look for the nearest set of clothes you could find. He watched you the entire time, waiting.
“I’m not being funny.” You didn’t care that your voice came off solid. You didn't care that you were avoiding his gaze. You got dressed as Shinsou continued to stare at you in disbelief. He started to shake. His breathing became irregular and his body became cold. He felt like something was wrong but couldn't place a finger on it.
“Please. This is a joke, right?” You didn’t give him an answer, just grabbed your phone from the night stand and turned your attention somewhere else. Alarms rang threw his head when you walked towards the bedroom door. You were going to leave him. He got up from the bed and followed you around as you took some essential things to put in a bag you found.
“Y/n, please. You’re joking right? This is all a joke? Y/n, answer me.” He was growing desperate, you could hear it in his voice. It was wavering and cracking in places you've never heard it do before. You know that no matter what he wouldn't use his quirk on you but in that moment the last thing you wanted to do was to speak. Why would you? You said your piece, it's time for him to suck it up and move on. He has a side piece he can go cry to if he needed to vent. Clearly the other person was better at making him feel welcomed.
You reached the front door with a bag filled with your essentials in your hand. You reached for your keys that you kept right next to the front door and grabbed them. You opened the door and was nearly able to take a step outside.
"No! W-Wait, baby!" Shinsou rushed towards you and grabbed one of your arms firmly, making you stop and hiss at the tight feeling. His eyes were filled with tears, glossy and red from a sleepless night. You couldn't help but admire the handy work of his secret lover. His skin was a multitude of blues, reds, and purples on his pale skin. His arms lined with the tracks of someone else's finger nails.
"What do you mean breakup? Did i-" It finally clicked for him. He looked down at his own arms. You could see how he was planning on explaining why he did it. You didn't want to listen to it, you have a pretty good idea why.
"I- She didn't mean anything to me, i promise. You know you're the only one i want to be with. You know that right?" You wanted to do so much to him. You wanted to scream at his face, wanted to make him cry.
" "She didn't mean anything no me." I'm not stupid Shinsou. You wouldn't go back to her if that wasn't the case." You took your arm out of his grasp and opened the door.
"Hitoshi..., baby. It's Hitoshi- No. Please! Please don't leave me. Wait!" You already left. The Pro Hero Mindjack was left alone in the little home you both build the moment the two of you got the chance to live together. The countless memories that hanged on the walls of the two of you felt like they were judging him all of a sudden. The little trinkets that held your signature tastes now attacking him just by existing. The half naked hero stood at his own door, unable to follow you to wherever you left to.
"Maybe, i'll just let her calm down and when she wants to talk we can talk about it? She'll come...back...." He wanted to give you space to process and to eventually come back and talk.
He didn't know why he fucked the other woman. The sex wasn't the best and it wasn't his type of thing. It lacked everything he had with you, so why did he even go threw with it?
The day passed away like nothing, he went back to patrols and made it clear to everyone that he wasn't up to talk about anything. The woman he had been with tried contacting him but he ignored her. He truly regrets having anything to do with her. When the work day ended, nothing in your home had changed. It felt like you still lived there, but it was just lacking you. He discarded his uniform in the laundry basket and went to look for a fresh towel for himself. In the little side closet next to the bathroom door he found a bouquet of roses being crushed by a few boxes. He took all of it out and inspected the items.
"Gifts?" He picked up a box and placed it on the kitchen island, opening it to see what was inside. It was a book, a photo album to be exact. He opened it and nearly cried at the first picture. It was a picture of the two of you back in your UA days. He was holding you by the waist and giving you a kiss on the cheek, a loving look gracing his face. He remembered exactly how you two started dating. He asked you out to coffee and acted like a complete fool in front of you. He spilled his coffee on himself and became a blushing mess when you tried to help him clean it up. He took one look at you and couldn't stop himself from admiring you. You were so perfect in that moment, still were the next day and the years after it. He called you pretty while you called him cute. The two you blushed at each other and he kissed you the moment he could. It was so gentle and full of young adoring love. If he could just continue kissing you forever he wouldn't have any complaints, he's never felt this way before and has only felt it with you. He wanted you just like you wanted him.
Shinsou couldn't stop the tears from falling onto the photos as he flipped each page to the next. These were memories that he cherished deeply, memories where it didn't matter who else was there. To him it was just for you and him to enjoy, a moment in time were he could just love you without judgement. The last picture of the photo album was of the two of you watching a movie at Denkis place. Many of his classmates were there all enjoying the film that was playing. He had his arm around you protectively as he leaned you agaisnt him and the side of his head rested on the top of your own. The two of you stuck together in that moment watching whatever was on screen as you held each other close. You had written a message underneath the picture.
"To my lovely boyfriend of officially 5 years. I can't wait to spend the rest of forever with you! I love you Hitoshi." You ended the little note with a purple heart and another heart with your favorite color.
He couldn't stop himself from loudly wailing. He not only cheated on you more than once but he also knew it was wrong and threw away something that meant the world to him. It was hopeless. He didn't understand why he did the things he did or why he threw you away when the only thing he wanted the most was to spend every single day of his life by your side. You were so sweet to him. You wrote such a pretty not for an ugly guy who couldn't even bother to show up on time for dinner. You took care of him after all of his patrols and the missions he would be assigned to. Fuck, you were his biggest supporter when he finally got into the hero course. You reminded him that his quirk didn't define him and that he should be proud of himself for having managed to do so much in such a short period of time. He wasted his chance with you.
He couldn't find you anywhere. He called your friends and even asked his own to keep an eye out for you, but no one knew where you were. You were truly gone from his life and he couldn't even properly apologies to you.
At the end of the day he would come home beatened and bruised. This would be when you would usually come out from your shared bedroom and help take care of him. Where he would be given a bath by you because he was to tired to do it himself. When you would scold him for being reckless again but still kissed his face and give him all of the gentle affection he craved. The way you panicked for him when he called you from the hospital saying that he might lose his eyesight on his left eye. He remembers when you came in and saw him with bandages and practically fighting the doctor and nurses over something pointless. The way he felt completely fine once he laid his one functional eye on you. He didn't care that you started screaming at him about how he could have died but he did feel bad when you started to cry over him.
"I'm sorry baby. I didn't mean to worry you over this. Give me a kiss?" You kissed him gently to prevent any irritation or injury. You held him close to your chest till he fell asleep.
Now he woke up alone with no body to keep him warm at night. No one to help him threw his nightmares. No one to keep him safe and he couldn't complain about it because he did this to you and himself. He's the embodiment of "Play stupid games, win stupid prizes."
Two days had passed since he last saw you. You didn't come back for any of your things and his friends hadn't seen you anywhere. That morning when he got up, he decided to open the other gifts that were in the side closet. The first one he opened contained a new hoodie and jacket in his favorite color with cat patterings on the outside. The second one was a set of black studs. Shinsou had started wearing jewelry during his second year at UA. You mentioned that you found guys with jewelry were attractive. You couldn't blame him back then, he was head over heels for you and wanted to impress you. He eventually realized he really liked it, so it was win win situation for the both of you. The last gift was a flight to the U.S.. Shinsou remembered that you asked him where he wanted to travel to if he got the chance. He said the U.S because he was curious about why so many people found the Americans funny. He was curious and when Shinsou got curious you fully indulged him. It was a singular ticket though. The gifts wrapper was already ripped open meaning that at some point you removed the other ticket. You had planned a trip for the both of you.
Shinsou cried again, he'd been doing a lot of it since you left. He laid down on the couch and hugged the single flight ticket. He could have had the world with you, could've traveled it too.
"I'm sorry." He drew in a shaky breath and swallowed the spit that accumulated in his mouth. He missed you and he was horribly sorry for what he did.
"Y/n, please be ok." Shinsou laid on his side as he stared mindlessly at the wall in front of him. Blurry tear filled eyes only granting him the ability to think of the memories he had of you. Wherever you were, he would be looking for you till he could speak with you again. He was a fool and was willing to admit to that. He used to be your fool, actually.

Masterlist<3
It was lunch at school and you had your headphones on full volume, completely disregarding the rule againt 'all electronic devices' as well as every other human being in your presence.
'oh well, it's either this or being forced to listen to some no-name morons drone on about the colours of their shoes in the midst of the school halls... Boring.'
You couldn't help the irritation creeping its way from the corners of your mind and all the way down to your very fingertips, each one twitching and tensing in your reslessness.
Every fibre of your being screamed bitter outrage at the pompous brats in front of you for so much as existing. 'How the hell did they even manage to get accepted anyway?!'
Part of you felt like the biggest asshole for even getting angry in the first place 'Why am i so angry? What did they even do?' and you knew you had no reason to be overreacting like this - 'I shouldn't have even reacted at all..' - you really couldn't help it. You'd been in a bad mood since you woke.
A nagging feeling of despondency accompanied with the crippling need to lash out at the nearest thing that breathes clawed at the foundations of your mind. You really had been in a bad mood. So, like an asshole, you wanted to body-slam someone through a window along with your hormonal imbalance and 85% of your impulse control.
Remarkably, you managed to drag your feet past the brats and instead direct your attention to the dark skies out the window, now opening up to allow a heavy downpour of rain. Serenades on the roof of the building mixed with a heavy beating on the window to create a sort of melancholic atmosphere as the the pavements and buildings are made glossy, illuminated by street lamps above. 'It's too bad' you thought 'that noone loves this weather as much as i do'.
You made your way to the roof of the school, pondering over the fact that you had nade it into class 1-C. Despite your unusual quirk, you still managed to get accepted into UA High. Though, as difficult as the entrance exam may have seemed - 'and was' - anything is possible with an abundance of time. You had managed to slow down time and do half an hours worth of work in what was 30 seconds to anyone else.
Already you had been soaked to the bone, hair clinging to your face like that of a drowned rat. All it succeeded in doing was making you happier though, you really did love the feeling of the rain on your skin. That, paired with the beats of your the music playing in your ears took you to your own little world.
A/N: There are songs at the end of the chappie to sorta describe the vibe goin on so take a listen to those and you'll get a better feel of things...
Humming to the tune of your favourite song, you shifted towards a small corner behind the doorway, setting your sights on the large tear in the fence. Sitting down on the edge and getting lost in your thoughts was your absolute favourite pass-time. Ironic, really, considering part of your very identity was essentially stopping it.
Well, more like you would slow it down to to the point where you could be considered one of the fastest people alive. There were many scenarios in which your quirk was useless however, so you train until you drop in an effort to become strong without your quirk - which only aided you during the exam. Pulling people out the way of brutal attacks to cover for their excessive hubris and knocking down those ridiculous metal clowns tired you out, but got you a fairly high ranking in the end. Luckily for you, not the entire school board was conjured up of morons and someone was actually able to keep track of your progress.
Carefully creeping through the gap in the fencing, making sure not to slip and fall and just end your life, you gracefully planted your ass down on the ledge, legs dangling precariously a dangerous amount stories above ground. Taking in your surroundings and the sight of the rain so high up made you look down towards the bustling crowd of students below going about their own lives in the dark and be overcome with sonder. It would've been so easy to just give in to the call of the void - its breathy whisper tickling your ears, but sounding so distant at the same time.
'Oh, fuck off' you interrupted your own train of thought and berated yourself for thinking something so lame. 'If you really want someone to jump, do it yourself you lazy bastard'.
'And queue more internal struggling...' You always did wonder why you were such a gloomy person all the time. Was this really who you wanted to be in the future? 'I'm overthinking. I'm just an asshole with feelings'.
Your personal identity crisis was cut short when you noticed the rain ease up and the pleasant smell of petrichor fills your lungs.
'It must be last period by now... Whatever, i'll just bail' You thought. 'Its not like i can't afford it, anyway.'
Sitting like this and watching the world pass you by seemed much more favourable compared to sitting in that stuffy classroom. It just eased up your bad mood like nothing else could. And slowing down time to have this moment to yourself didn't appeal to you since you just wanted the day to be over already.
It's kind of sad that you live like this; waking up every morning just waiting for the day to end, but what else could you do? Your friends don't bother with you anymore and spending time with your family's just lame. It doesn't help that you harbour an intense hatred for your family - you love every family member individually but they can't get along with eachother, which is a constant stress. They all antagonise eachother and you're often forced to pick sides. That's a pretty shitty family, but hey, it's whatever.
Checking your phone for the time and being met with the large white numbers on your lock screen, you let slip a sigh. '14:50' it read. Another twenty minutes to go. Thoughts of wether you were going straight home or taking a detour through the park and chilling there for a while carried you to the end of the school day. Darkness plagued the skies and covered the world around you like a blanket.
'Perfect'
You couldn't help but love the dark, it left less room for people to judge you. Nobody could look at you funny if they couldn't see you. It made you feel lile there was nothing to worry about, like you didn't have to bother with anything at all - you could just relax.
As you stood, lifting your legs up and over the ledge back to the safety of flat ground, the time on your phone read "15:14". Now you could walk out amongst a crowd and not be spotted for bunking.
It's not like you aspired to be so slothful. It's just been kind of difficult finding motivation lately. So far, you've worked so hard to succeed out of spite for everyone who told you that "you're not good enough". 'Well look at me now, you bastards...'
~
When you finally made it to the park it was four in the afternoon and dark enough for all the street lamps to be lit. Strolling down the flooded, open pathway, you took out your phone and messaged your mother, telling her that you'd either be home late or be crashing at a friend's house. It was a friday after all.
Listening to music still as you walked, satiating your lisztomania, you looked up from the floor and startled at the person sitting in your designated - undesignated bench seat underneath the cover of a sakura tree, which was now dull and colourless with the lack of the sun's reflection. Stopping and removing your hands from the pockets of your oversized black jumper and pulling down the large hoodie from over your face, you turned down the volume on your headphones and popped one of the buds out of your ear.
By now you had caught the attention of the person - a boy - sitting on the bench. He raised his head from the screen of the phone in his hand, back straightening a little from its previously huched over position. He stared back at you with a look of enquiry etched onto his features. You took this time to fully take in his characteristics - his dark purple hair that flared out in large tufts, the way his facial expression barely changed from a look of boredom, the dark, almost permanent looking bags under his indigo eyes and lastly his attire - a uniform to match yours.
'Another UA student, huh?'
"Er.. Hi, sorry to intrude. It's just... I usually sit here after school. I wasn't expecting anyone else to be here is all. I - I'll go..." You let a nervous smile slip and went to turn around when you hear him address you. His voice, gravelly and husky, provided stark contrast against the psithurism and white noise of distant traffic.
"Wait. Y/N, isn't it? We're in the same class - 1C" he stated.
'Oops' you mused 'I wasn't paying enough attention to remember his name'. Bashful laughs pierced the silence as you wracked your brain for answers. Now you thought about it, he did seem very familiar.
"Erm" you try "Sh- er- shiro? Eh, Shu- shino...?"
'Jeez, I never was good with names.'
The boy lets out a short, closed-eye chuckle, shaking his head at your obviously failed attempts. He locks eyes with you again and smirks.
"You came close, but not quite. It's Shinso..."
Is it possible for you to write a oneshot or headcannons, whichever you feel more comfortable doing, for domestic shinso? Like how the relationship is during their time in UA and after? I hope this makes sense!💗💗💗
Hi! Thank you for requesting! I wrote this as headcanons with a mini scenario at the end of it, I hope that’s alright! I’m a Shinso simp so this went a little out of proportion 💀
Genre: Fluff, Domestic
Rating: SFW
Word Count: 2k

Before UA Dorms:
- While you were in UA, Shinso tried his hardest to spent time with you
- Both of you were so busy, especially with you in the hero course and Shinso training privately with Aizawa to transfer into the hero course too (preferably your class)
- Before the dorms were instigated, he’d sleep at your place, crashing after training with your teacher
- You would have most likely returned from training too, both of you crashing on your living room couch after a refreshing shower
- Shinso is a gift-giver, he’d show up to your how every time with something small to show his appreciation for you
- The most occurring gift is little air fresheners shaped like a cat you hang above your desk – each one has a different scent from the last
- The time would be spent watching movies, making fruit smoothies, and looking at cat videos
- Occasionally (a whole lot, actually) he’d “lose track of time” and have to stay all night, not that your parents minded at all – they loved him
- There was something about his maturity, wit, sleepiness, and determination that made him so charming
- The nights he would stay he’d let your head rest of his chest or on his shoulder, depending on how big your bed is
- You knew he didn’t sleep much, feeling guilty that you were sprawled all over him
- He always insisted he loved your warmth, it not only soothing him to get a few winks or that it reassured him that you were there
- Bike rides were a must almost every morning he was at your place
- He’d lead you through his favourite parks to cycle around then stop for an iced coffee before heading back home
- The two of you soon noticed just how much time he spent at yours, and so little you went to his house, so you began to shake it up a bit
In the Dorms:
- The two of you certainly used the dorms as an excuse to spend even more time together
- It was so easy to crash in each other’s room, either after training or if you were bored on a weekend
- His dorm was the regular, maybe it was the gradually growing collection of stray kittens hiding under his bed that made you so eager to join him
- You certainly didn’t mind the walk from Hero’s Alliance to his building
- Routine changed once again when he transferred into the hero course and moved into your dorm
- Instead of hiding away in one of your dorms, you felt more comfortable lingering into the common room
- The common room was your domain at night, either you were binging a series together, baking a midnight snack, letting his kittens roam free for a while, or a combination of them all
- Aizawa constantly got the two of you in trouble for being too noisy or finding you both crashed on the couch in a pile of pillows with a kitten or two sleeping on top
- Shinso always managed to create an excuse, or take the punishment for the two of you
- You were completely aware of Shinso’s relationship with your teacher and were kind of thankful for it
- As Shinso slowly began to make friends from your class, they began to hang out with you
- He couldn’t handle all the noise e for that amount of time in the common room
- That’s the time when you began to hide out in your dorm again, sprawled on the floor, bed or couch to relax and sleep
- You’d study or read while Shinso would fall asleep on your lap – he loves how soft you are, no matter your body type
As Pros:
- The day be popped the question that you should move into an apartment together was when you were both very settled in your hero careers
- He had grown in so many ways, not only as a hero, but as a person and he definitely got more handsome
- Your apartment was humble, and you two finally owned as cat
- You gifted it to him for his birthday the year you moved in
- Shinso continued to take after his teacher, becoming an underground hero
- This meant that he was constantly out at night, receiving even less sleep than he used to
- Although, you supported him, his wellbeing will continue to be the most important thing in your relationship
Sizzling of the pan over the stove crackled up as you flipped the pork in the oil. Your spatula dug up the frying pieces, gathering the frying oil that splattered when you flipped the crumbed pork. The oil splashed up towards you, landing on the apron that wrapped around your waist. The rest of the meal had been prepared, awaiting the pork to sit on top.
You patiently waiting for Hitoshi to arrive home in the early hours of the morning. Sure, you could have gone to sleep and had breakfast with him in the morning. However, something was keeping you awake, the urge to give Hitoshi a proper meal urged you to cook at 3am.
Hours ago, you had your own meal after arriving home from patrol as Hitoshi headed towards the door. Your schedules crashed too often, only being able to spend a few fleeting moments when he’d accidentally wake you up when he arrived home. Spending those few hours of sleep before you then had to get up for your hero work definitely didn’t make up for lost time. Especially when Hitoshi is called in for a daytime mission as well.
No matter how many times you would tell him to catch up on sleep during the day, you know for a fact he didn’t. The amount of times he had sped past on his bike, shoving a bouquet of flowers into your arms. He definitely received an angry text from you saying that he should be resting soon after. You would also know whenever he’d been training with Aizawa, because your old teacher constantly updated you on his progress. It was also painfully obvious when he was working out at home, weights, a yoga mat, and his towel would never be packed away properly when you got home.
Now, you focused on lifting the pan off the stove, sitting it down next to the bowl of rice. You only made one serving, you not being hungry enough to eat a full meal. The eggs you had prepared were mixed into the rice, the sauce seeping into it. Scooping the crumbed pork up with the spatula, you placed them on top.
A soft click sounded from the other side of your apartment door. Jingling keys caused a smile to arise on your lips, which took over your tired face as the door swung open.
Dark violet hair was the first thing you saw, the crazy tufts drooping slightly with a mix of sweat and rain. His voice changing device hung around his neck and his bag rested on his shoulder. The black hero suit he adorned was slightly damp, unzipped at the front so a small section of his heaving chest was visible.
“Hitoshi, sweetheart,” you called out, “I have dinner for you.”
Hitoshi’s nose was the first to perk up, the small of his meal caused a growing smile on his face. His tired eyes met yours, sighing dramatically when he saw you.
“Why are you awake, kitten?” His husky voice grumbled, “But, is that katsudon?”
You ignored, his first question, not wanting to make this about you, “Yes, it is. Come eat.”
He etched over to the counter, discarding parts of his hero attire as he approached. Dropping his bag at his feet, he gently placed his voice changer on top. His capture scarf was unwrapped and tossed over the couch, along with his utility belt. Hitoshi almost collapsed onto the stool by the kitchen bench, immediately digging into the food.
Watching silently, you untied your apron and leaned against the bench. Your chin resting in your palms, your soft eyes gazed over Hitoshi’s features. You couldn’t wait to marry him.
Happily, Hitoshi chewed his dinner, not breaking eyes contact with you ever. You reached a hand out to cup the side of his face, running your thumb over the growing purple eyebags underneath his half-lidded eyes. Unable to contain your worry, your eyebrows furrowed and your lips pouted.
“What’s wrong?” Hitoshi asked, “Why are you making that face, kitty?”
You retracted your hand, only for Hitoshi’s hand to catch it softly.
“You need to stop overworking yourself,” you whispered, “Baby, you’re running on three hours of sleep everyday and are constantly being active when you have free time. You need to take care of yourself and relax once in a while. I’ve been thinking of requesting to change my patrol time so we get time to ourselves. I suggest you do the same so you don’t come back so late.”
Hitoshi groaned; you knew you would get a similar reaction. However, it wasn’t of annoyance or because he was disagreeing. It almost seemed relieved.
After dropping his chopsticks, Hitoshi grabbed your other hand and brought them both to his face. Your hands held his cheeks gently, Hitoshi melting into them with a sigh. His eyes closed, dropping his hands so they rubbed your forearms up and down.
The slight purple stubble on his jaw prickled at your hand as you glided your thumbs over his cheekbones. You let out an adoring laugh, the pout on your lips only showed you empathy towards Hitoshi.
For a moment you thought he was asleep, but he spoke up, “I thought you’d never say that. For a moment I thought you didn’t care about me.”
“Hey.”
You tilted his head up so his eyes that fell open would look into your own. Even though you knew he was teasing you by that dumb smirk across his lips, you couldn’t help but take the opportunity to scold him.
“It doesn’t look like you care about yourself so someone has to do it. And you know what the best selfcare is?”
“What is it?”
“Grabbing the cat and coming to sleep with me in bed.”
“I don’t feel like sleeping right now.”
“What do you mean? You look like a mess.”
“I want sleepy cuddles. I can’t enjoy your cuddles when I’m asleep, now, can I?”
You groaned, lifting your hands off his face and letting it drop. For a moment you thought you gave him whiplash so you mumbled a quick, “Oh, sorry.”
Hitoshi recovered, rubbing the back of his neck, “We can grab the cat and watch Netflix for a couple hours.”
“But it’s like 3am. The sun will be rising by the time two hours is up.”

He’d always be home when you returned from patrol and never had to leave immediately after. You’d always have a late lunch together and he’s come back earlier too. The mornings you worked you’d find him sleeping soundly next to you, giving him a quick kiss as a goodbye.
The time you both didn’t work was time the both of you spent together. Whether you lounged at home, or went out somewhere. You left all the housework to the night he was working, not wanting to bore him with it. It got to the point when you didn’t care what he did when you worked, finding that he would be resting enough to not burn himself out again. Occasionally, you’d return to find he’d folded some clothes or cleaned the cat litter for you.
You definitely noticed how he perked up with his extra rest, learning more and more about him every day. This led to the two of you dating for another two years before he finally popped the real question. Whether or not you two had kids was entirely up to you, and that was another can of worms waiting to be
