Coriolanus Snow is the one who creates the concept of betting on and being invested in The Hunger Games, which is ultimately his downfall because katniss everdeen and Peeta mellark use the attention and interest to manipulate and ultimately break the system, which brings about snow's downfall.

And ultimately it's because snow is trying to be the best and promote himself that he loses power in the end. If he hadn't tried to impress Doctor gaul, then the games probably would have ended years before katniss was even born and certainly she wouldn't be able to use donations and attention to bring about the end of his presidency.

Sejanus is such a tragic character because he’s a revolutionary born decades before the revolution. He wants to be Katniss, he has the same heart and courage as her and if he could be The Mockingjay he would be, but the opportunity for Sejanus to do something isn’t there as much as he tries and tries again and again. Things just happened to fall in place for Katniss to have the opportunity she did. Sometimes you can be a good person, you can try your best, you can scream and fight for goodness, and you’re still powerless to stop evil. Sometimes the world just isn’t ready to listen yet. That’s a heartbreaking reality, but the silver lining is that even if you can’t be the hero - someone somewhere sometime will be. Evil isn’t truly immortal as much as the villains insist it is.

Reading TBoSaS was an eye opening experience for me because for a minute I was like Katniss and Peeta had it so much better than Lucy and these other children who were treated like literal animals- transporting them like livestock and putting them in cages not to mention the very public, dehumanizing parades. But then I was horrified at myself because I couldn’t believe myself. It wasn’t better at all, Katniss and Peeta were brought there for the same exact purpose and putting them in fancy dresses and providing them with expensive amenities doesn’t take it away. It’s still the same horrible, wretched, gruesome tradition, I just thought it was better because it was also wrapped up nicely with a pretty bow which I guess was the whole point.

lol hunger game thoughts

like i get why popele want more stories on each individual hunger games especially like Haymitch or Finnick’s like i definitely would love to read them but i also feel like it’s like going against the whole point of the franchise of like how terrible it is kids are literally killing each other for a game that people watch it for fun. and like the whole point is that’s bad but then when you finish reading you want more of the games (just like the capital so i that makes us like the capital?) but each of them would be the same like i get that each games is different in its own way but in the end it’s just kids killing each other so there isn’t really any story building of stuff about panem that we don’t already know. i feel like the only games that we could really learn the most about panem from is the first games and the 11th games especially because of the publicity shift that happened to the games after the 10th. i’m not saying wanting more stories about the games is bad i totally understand the appeal but i fee like there isn’t really any reason for more. i dunno just thinking

The rake in Penelope’s hand was covered in blood, meant to whip the slaves that threatened their control and most times Sheila could willing block out the screeches and screams, but now she just felt angry, ready to beat the couple with no morals.  But she was stuck being useless to defend them. Fear is a burden that was attached to her like a drug, and only withdrawal held her back from screaming her heart out. Until she found a boy with the brightest blue eyes, but from what she’d heard, he was an outlaw.

summary: you and Tom meet for the first time while Josh is in the middle of the livestream. It's become the new famous ship of the internet.

You were one of the newest actresses in Hollywood and luckily you managed to grab a role with one of the most famous actors right now, Tom Blyth.

Ever since he starred in The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, people have been thirsting for him like he was water.

You wouldn't lie, you were one of them, but you two were supposed to meet in a coffee shop, reciting your lines and you were late.

" Oh you're [Name] [Last name], nice to meet you! Sorry, my friends decided to follow me here. "

Tom grinned, blue eyes twinkling in the sunlight, an apology gleaming in his pupils.

"No worries, it's fine! I'm so sorry I'm late, it was just traffic!"

" Don't worry, I'm just glad you made it!"

You took in a deep breath and extended your arm for a handshake. Surprisingly, he hugged you instead. You met the two 'friends' who are actually fucking Josh Rivera and Rachel Zegler who were seemingly livestreaming on Instagram.

" And here is the new couple! Say hi, you two love birds!"

Tom rolled his eyes before letting you go to tell Josh off.

" We aren't dating, we actually just met."

Josh turned, confused for a second before gazing at Tom's phone that was left on his chair.

"Wait, seriously? Didn't you see a post of her being your new co-star in that rom-com you're doing and started bragging a lot to Rachel and me? What's it?"

He thought for a minute before his eyes lit up and he smiled brightly.

"Oh, yeah! Sweet truth, where a girl had a bunch of exes tell lies and cheat but then finds a man who tells her nothing but the truth?"

Tom hissed and shut Josh up by covering his mouth, before he noticed Rachel leaning toward confused you, beginning to tell you the whole story.

His panicked face turned red.

" So it was a couple weeks ago, we were just calmly hanging out after reshooting some Ballad scenes when Tom showed us your Insta where you were like, I don't know, talking about the movie you're gonna be in! He was literally obsessed, I am not kidding."

She shrugged as Tom glared at her for spilling his secret.

"I'm sorry, I mean you're beautiful and I-"

He cleared his throat, unable to continue because of his embarrassment.

You giggled, shrugging.

" It's cool, I mean I think you're hot-I mean handsome too."

Inside you were literally screaming at yourself for exposing the fact that he's your celebrity crush.

" Uh, guys, I hope this isn't method acting because I'd be really disappointed in you, Tom" Josh snickered, sharing a mischievous glance with Rachel.

Tom rolled his eyes, smiling at you before beckoning to the chair beside him.

" Let's, uh, practice...?"

“I’m sorry, Tom. I can try again, I guess I just got nervous.”

you scratched the back of your head, silently hitting yourself.

He smiled, Tom was scared that she thought he was ugly-hypocritical, he knew, but he couldn’t help it.

“I’m glad you don’t think I’m hideous!” He tried to make it a joke, but the embarrassment was seeping through his words and even Seth, the guy playing [Name’s] ex, sucked in a deep breath.

“I don’t, you’re the hottest actor I’ve met!”

You grinned up at him, at this point, calling him hot was a daily ritual.

He averted his eyes, still not used to your confidence. After the first meet-up, the two of you got comfortable.

Comfortable enough to have sexual tension that even your little brother picked up on.

But when the second take rolled, the kiss he gave you was like a cliffhanger at the end of your favorite book.
