Katniss And Gale - Tumblr Posts
I was actually using this to explain to my sister how the love triangle was a metaphor about how Katniss will move on from everything, the generational trauma, the trauma from her sister's death, and the hunger games, and the people she has loved. And how she has to choose between letting it consume her and keep fighting everything, or to choose to grow and heal.
How Gale leaves, chooses a job different from his home district, he was always a hunter, he wanted to kill district 2 in retaliation for 12's treatment. But Peeta was always a baker, becomes a painter, creates things doesn't destroy, returns home and starts rebuilding, shows Katniss love all throughout the games despite the violent nature of the games, he's against the Final Games using kids of the rich and powerful.
I could go on and on about this, but just the way Gale is so filled with anger and physically fights for so much, but Peeta's rebellion has always been telling Katniss about the bombing on TV, announcing the baby in an interview, painting Rue. Peeta's rebellion was one of choosing kindness and not allowing himself to be forced into hate and tearing things down.
Something that I will never get over and still tear up thinking about is Peeta’s return in the end of the series and he’s planting flowers for Prim… in a post war, destructed, ugly and tarnished district 12 his first thought was to plant flowers
Also the way they're talking tells her so much. Like, Gale and peeta both know gale's issues, so he's not really hiding anything from peeta, so Katniss hearing his objectification of her and his tophization (not a word, but) of her speaks volumes to her. Meanwhile peetas over there like Well whoever is best for her 👍👍
My favorite part of the Hunger Games books was when Peeta and Gale were having a chat about who will Katniss choose and she was there listening like the audacity, I don't need either one of you bitchess
Is there significance to the presidents Snow and Coin's names?
Like everyone else has very last name-y names, Everdeen, Mellark, Hawthorne. But Snow and Coin are both things. Like I guess it could be an example of corrupted names, like Peeta being Peter. But I could also see it having to do with like, the phrase "clean as snow", or Coin's view of people.
Thoughts? Or is this maybe just over analyzing?
Is it canon or reasonable to think Gale was glad Peeta got captured? So that he'd be out of the way?
I know we know gale was angry when he saw Kat and Pete together, but did he dehumanize peeta enough to be grateful for his capture?
Gale worrying about Finnick and Katniss liking eachother- meanwhile the two of them have people on stand by to sedate them and are just aggressively knotting their shared therapy rope while they talk about Peeta and Annie in between naps
Watching HG Catching Fire: maybe it's just me, but it feels so rushed and forced.
And why is the convo between Peeta, Katniss, and Haymitch (after the victory stop in district 11) so so rushed? Like there is so much content in the book, and if I hadn't read it I would have no idea what was going on.
And why is Kat always seeing little bits of what's going on through cracks in the doorway?? Why do people leave the doors open a little bit??
I loved the books but man oh man I will nitpick these movies.

The fact that they removed the older peacekeepers I'm D12, the ones that are there when Gale is getting beaten, and they're like, yeah no you've whipped him a lot. And those people were just cut out??
And Gale is conscious for like, all of it??
And Katniss' cuts are so mild?? And she doesn't get sent away to her room??
Also I hate the nickname Katnip so so much it's horrid.

Prim's Old Soul Wisdom TM is actually annoying to me. I don't really like her, cause she's so stilted.
"You could live a hundred lifetimes, and never deserve that boy." Gets me every time.
Every time I see gale, I feel like puking. How was anyone ever Team Gale??
Effie is incredible. The fact that she seems totally aloof and stupid, but is actually so in tune with everything but covers it all up and pretends not to notice. Like what happened to her to make her this way ??

All of the training in D12 got cut out??
And so much time with her styling team got cut out ugh
It was an absolute crime that THG were made into movies not a TV series.
The whole movie is so scene after scene, no transition. There is so little flow, it's all disjointed.
It doesn't make sense for peeta to be walking out just as Kat walks in for individual assessment?? And the painting is covered and she uncovers it in the books.

It's so hard to get into Taylor Swift's Eras tour, how hard would it be to be an audience member at the Victor interviews??
The fact that after Johanna GOES OFF (as she should) Caeser says "well thats one woman's opinion" as if he can downplay something like that.
"Snow made me wear it" actually makes sense in the books. The movie totally ignores all of the wedding dress stuff.
The wings on the dress don't make practical sense.

If the quarter quell had been canceled for the baby, then Katniss would have had to actually get pregnant so she could keep up the show and not have to go into the games.

The fact that kat realizes it's a spiel so quickly in the movies??

"Look up at the sky, look at all those colors" lies, Peeta. Bull. That was the boringest sunrise. It's all gray. The woman was dying and you lied??
Like I'm joking but like. It's CGI. They could do better than that.

Am I maybe watching an edited version of the movie or smth?? It doesn't mention the food deliveries??
Not Gale sitting by her side, watching her sleep I hate that and that dreadful nickname

Watching THG: The Mockingjay pt. 1
Finnick breaks my heart.
Why are the buildings in D12 still smoldering?? It was bombed when Kat ended the games, and then she's asleep for days and has time to get more or less settled at D13, enough that they know they have to cart her back to bed most nights, so why is the district still smoldering??
If someone could remind me what the deal is with the white roses, that'd be great. I know they're Snow's signature, but the powdery stuff??
I don't think prim realizes this, but if you can't sleep that does not mean you want your little sister to sleep in your bed. Also I'm not a fan of her Aged By The War Wisdom TM.
I also hate the nickname Little Duck.
It's fascinating to see the capitol's side as they plan to bomb the injured. The fact that they would sink so low as to kill the dying. Like, that's not gonna win the war, it just makes a statement.
Gale comes into her room saying he's got good news, and you know Kat is hoping for Peeta to come back, but Gale's like We can go hunting now 👍👍
Gale makin moves is so icky. Make him stop. Not him being lowkey manipulative with his "I knew you'd do that, cause I'm in pain. But don't worry it'll pass." Shut up
Love Peeta
Aww Finnick
How is Kat's hair so clean??
Why is her hair always in her mouth?
Maybe this is just my memory, but in the books, finnick's propo is for information purposes, in the movies its to jam signals and break Annie, Johanna, and Peeta out.
The way Coin manipulates everything in her speech.
If I were watching as the movies came out, I would freak out at the end.
"Look up at the sky, look at all those colors" lies, Peeta. Bull. That was the boringest sunrise. It's all gray. The woman was dying and you lied??

One of my favorite things about fandoms, is how people use their own areas of interest and knowledge to analyze and expound on media. Especially with children's or family media.
Like when people break down themes in Tangled and talk about the gaslighting or the way Mother Gothel tilts Rapunzel's head down to kiss her hair and pulled her hair out from behind her ear, whereas Flynn/Eugene tucks in behind her ear and tilts her head up to kiss her. Or point out details in The Hunger Games, like the bottles of whatever in Catching Fire that people in the Capitol drink so they vomit and can eat more and how that relates to the real world and how the wealthy 1% treats the needs of the lower class. Or the stereotypes and misrepresentations in Harry Potter.
And a different side of this same idea that I love, is how fandoms also grow the media. Not in fanart or fics or whatever (although i am a huge fan of that,) I'm thinking more about how people interact with characters. Adding to how characters think or feel or interact with each other. Like incorrect quotes, but also breaking down relationships and discussing how two characters depend on each other, things like that.
Reading TBoSaS was an eye opening experience for me because for a minute I was like Katniss and Peeta had it so much better than Lucy and these other children who were treated like literal animals- transporting them like livestock and putting them in cages not to mention the very public, dehumanizing parades. But then I was horrified at myself because I couldn’t believe myself. It wasn’t better at all, Katniss and Peeta were brought there for the same exact purpose and putting them in fancy dresses and providing them with expensive amenities doesn’t take it away. It’s still the same horrible, wretched, gruesome tradition, I just thought it was better because it was also wrapped up nicely with a pretty bow which I guess was the whole point.
