But I Do Agree That Some Parts Felt Lazy - Tumblr Posts

It honestly all just feels like lazy writing. They wanted to make Joel's death as tragic and sad as possible so they had the two be estranged and not reconcile to really punch you in the gut. But it falls flat for me because I'm so busy being confused as to why it happened the way it did to fully feel the emotions they wanted us to.

yeah, I can see where you're coming from!

could you imagine how much more that scene would've hurt if they were talking, though? like, it already destroyed us, but I imagine it would've been even more gut wrenching if they were talking.

I feel like the second game did a lot of things for shock value, but after a certain point, it was just repetitive. like, the constant death. as ellie, it just feels like you're killing people to progress the plot - because you are - but as abby, there is just so. much. death. and killing jesse?? that one hurt. but also all the pregnancy? seemed a bit repetitive, too. the zebra was fine, I think. but it seemed like a cycle of oh, this person's pregnant or oh, this person's gonna die. or both. sorry, mel. after a certain point, it just felt bland, you know? I'm sure there's a reason for it. you know, symbolism purposes, but I haven't figured that out yet. other than rebirth and the brutality of death, but I imagine there's more to it than that.

his death definitely was incredibly tragic and sad, though. it did not need to be that brutal. and also could a conversation not have cut that? abby was mad and seeking revenge for 4 years, she didn't ever stop to think about how she would just be passing that same grief? she wasn't there for her dad's death, but ellie was there for joel's. ellie was able to stop after a certain point and realize it would be a constant cycle of death and grief (yes, a bit late, but she realized it none the less) and the game didn't last those 4 years. it was maybe a year? maybe a year and a half. so you're telling me abby never once realized that maybe it was too much? I get that grief changes a person, but she had to have realized it at some point, right?
