taeyong has the habit of updating you constantly, even for minor things like getting his favorite soup on a particularly stressful day. he’d send you selcas with little hearts and captions saying “i miss you”, and when he’s travelling on tour—he’d send his pictures of the places he’d visited and would for sure return with a couple dozens of souvenirs just for you.

taeil would probably sing for you 24/7. he has an amazing voice and you’ve made it clear just how much you loved it. so he’d make sure to keep up to date with your favorite songs and learn to sing them so he could serenade you any time, any place.

johnny’s mom loved you. whenever the neos would go on tour, he’d bring you along and his mom would always be there waiting for you. he found it endearing how much his family adored you. he’d proudly share photos you both took together with his mom and she’d definitely frame them and put them on her wall.

yuta would teach you small japanese phrases every now and then. he’d drown you in compliments and would have to teach you their meanings every time he adds a new one. his term of endearment for you would almost always be a japanese word, which you think is absolutely adorable.

kun cares for you in an almost motherly way, the same way he does for his members. you know it’s a natural thing for him which is why you love this part of him so much. he always makes sure that you’re comfortable and well, constantly checking up on you and asking if he could do anything to help. you, of course, return the favor—which is why the rest of the neos think you two are the most sickly sweet couple there is.

doyoung would constantly take pictures of you, either to keep them for himself or to post them up on his instagram story. he would often style you as well, putting you in his clothes and grinning so wide and laughing lightly to himself. his phone wallpaper would be a picture he took of you on one of your many dates out together.

ten loves to do your makeup. he’s not that knowledgeable, but he’s well aware of your skin and makeup routine that he’d be able to do it himself! after a long day of work, he’d also tug you towards the bathroom to help you with your makeup, gently wiping the product away while humming a soft tune to help you relax.

jaehyun is kind of similar to ten in a way that he loves to do your hair. something about the softness in it had him addicted to gently running his fingers through your hair. sometimes, it would be enough to lull you to sleep, which has him cooing and gushing about how adorable you are.

winwin loves to travel with you. documenting it is a must! he loves rewatching your trips together on camera, and the first time he brings you to beijing, he makes sure to tour you around and takes you to the most beautiful places. he’d watch in awe as your eyes sparkle, the camera catching your most precious moment to him.

jungwoo is so tall compared to you, so he loves to tease you about it. he’d often tell the members that you and him were like the thumb and index finger together. he found it completely endearing and he knew that your huffs of annoyance weren’t actually angry. he loved to lift you up into his arms to ‘let you know what the weather is like’ up at his height.

mark loves to hold your hand. this man would try and keep physical contact with you at all times—and if holding your hand isn’t possible, he’d try to keep as close to you as possible. he’s a little awkward with you in an endearing way, but he’s never shy to hold your hand or place a sweet kiss to the back of your palm.

xiaojun would love to give you his sweaters while they’re having their dance practice. it was hard dating an idol who’s time was mostly spent at his company as a full time student, but he tries his hardest to bring you along and spend more time with you and dance practices were his favorite way to that. he’d wrap his jacket around your form, whether it be because you fell asleep or because he noticed that it was getting colder and you didn’t have a sweater on you.

hendery’s favorite thing to do is to joke around with you. you were his perfect pair—you had the same humor and laughed at the smallest things together. he’d have this soft gaze on you when you both were laughing until your stomachs hurt, those moments being his most treasured.

renjun would definitely enjoy sitting and drinking tea with you. oftentimes, he’d be the one to brew up your cup of tea especially after he finds out your favorite kind. he loves to watch as you talk about your schedule for the day, his eyes sparkling as he nods every now and then.

jeno has the habit of tugging you to lay on his chest if he felt you falling asleep. he wanted his heartbeat to calm you down, the soft beats urging you to sleep. he loved how close you were to him and no one would be able to wipe the grin off his face whenever you fall asleep on him.

haechan would always kiss your forehead. he’ll do it whenever you’re parting and he’ll do it upon the first time you’re seeing each other for the day. he almost always giggles or smirks after the kiss and follows it with his hand coming up to ruffle your hair.

jaemin tries his best to support you even in little ways. whenever he knew you were going to have a busy week, he prepares a small note and your favorite breakfast to encourage you and remind you that he’s proud of you no matter what. he’ll also check up on you every now and then for the rest of the week. he has this weird sense that lets him know if you’re feeling extra stressed and he’s there always.

yangyang is the type to go on walking dates. he loves to be with you anywhere and everywhere. you two have probably walked more than anyone else in the neos. he’ll pair it with some ice cream or iced coffee, and he especially loves walking in the winter with you—your nose a pale pink because of the cold, which results in a boop almost every time.

shotaro would send you dance recordings of his practices or of any choreography he’d been working on. he knew how much you loved his dancing, and you felt like falling in love with him over again when you found out he only ever sends them to you. he appreciated your comments and wanted to be excited with you first when he gets down a particularly difficult choreography.

sungchan loved to drape his sweaters, shirts or jackets over your figure. with his tall figure, he loved watching how big they looked on you because of the height difference. he’d almost always have a blush on his cheeks as he pats you hair, murmuring that you’re cute and that you should wear his clothes more often.

chenle is really loud about your relationship. he’ll bring you with him to every schedule that he’s allowed to. he loves showing you off to the neos and would always smile and wave at you despite his busy schedule—which sometimes earns him a slap to the back of his head by renjun, because he was disrupting a shoot.

jisung would buy you both matching necklaces, and never take his off. sometimes, when he was missing you a little extra, he’d twirl the charm of your initial hanging from his necklace around his fingers. something about it gave him comfort, and when you couldn’t be by his side, his necklace reminded him that you would always be there for him.

“What happens if we get caught?” She asked, turning to face him. He smiles as he flicks his gaze between her eyes and lips, “if we are caught, then we run.”

She never expects it when he shows up to her door with that sweet grin on his lips. He doesn’t even need to say anything for her to step away from the door and slip some shoes on. She yells her goodbyes to her parents and closes the front door behind her.

He rarely got days off, so when he did, he went to her house. He claimed it was because he was sick of seeing his members all the time and wanted to see different people. She knew that was a lie but she would only smile at him every time he said it.

In front of her house was a black car that she had become used too by the amount of times chenle had made his manager come and pick her up, just to take her somewhere where they won’t be caught by the public - which wasn’t many places.

She got into the car and soon as chenle got into the seat next to hers, the driver was already going before Chenle could tell him. Almost like this was pre-planned.

She tilted her head and looked at him with a smirk, “I know you love me, but you didn’t have to plan a date like this.

“What?” He says with a laugh, looking at her like she just said the most outrageous thing ever. She giggled and looked away, ignoring how she could still feel his gaze on her.

She slipped her airpods in her ears and drowned out everything else, just simply staring out the window and enjoying the music. She was half-surprised that Chenle didn’t tap her multiple times just to talk to her or to show her something on his phone.

The car came to a stop and suddenly she was pulled back to reality when Chenle was tapping her leg. She pulled her airpods out of her ear and looked at him as he just looked at her, as if he was waiting for her to say something.

“What are you looking at?”

Chenle scoffs and sits back into his seat, crossing his arms over his stomach. “You were staring out the window the whole time and didn’t even notice where we are?”

She looks out the window again and examines the area for a bit. A gasp falls from her when she recognises a store she knew all too well. She whips her head to face him with a bright smile, a smile that immediately appeared on his face as well.

“you’re kidding? you seriously brought me here? why? out of no where?”

Her questions were shushed when he opened the door and closed it behind him. She rushed to undo her seatbelt and exit the car as well, but before she could open the door herself, it was already opening.

He stood on the other side of it, smiling happily at her. “I figured we both needed a break from life, and what better place than our favourite spot from when we were teenagers.”

It was a small convenience store that she recognised, but the entire small neighbourhood was filled with memories from her teenage years. Specifically, memories with him.

Even when they were young teenagers, he still went and saw her every time he could escape his schedules, or if not his schedules than he was escaping his members. She used to live in this neighbourhood, and it just so happened to be close to a filming location where NCT DREAM filmed a few years ago. They met in the small grocery store when he went to get some food.

She remembers it vividly. How they kept walking to the same parts of the store and how she tried her hardest to avoid him so he didn’t get weirded out. It was going well until her friends little sister ran into the store and started bothering Chenle, asking him where her favourite chocolate was.

Chenle looked around, half concerned and half confused, until he laid his eyes on an embarrassed teenager rushing over to collect the child. Chenle couldn’t help but laugh before he shyly started a conversation with the young girl and the embarrassed teen behind the child.

That was years ago. How they got close felt like a blur, they instantly clicked as though they were perfect for each other.

In the recent years, it was too risky to go anywhere as public as this. He usually just took her places that was completely empty, or they went out late at night. But this was a pretty public area, and it wasn’t late yet.

The only thing covering his appearance was a simply hat on his head and a hoodie he had pulled over the hat. He closed the door to the car once she got out and begun walking in the direction of where she knew was a lake.

“we used to always go here.” She reminisced, shoving her hands into her pockets.

“i remember us racing around the lake, making bets on who was the fastest.” Chenle said, smiling at the memory.

As they walked through the grass to get to the walking trail near the lake, she started to grow nervous. For two different reasons. The idea of being caught and exposed, and also nervous for what he had in store for her. They came here so randomly.

They didn’t say much, another weird thing to her. Usually he was telling her about how he had been lately, or just in general talking about something. But he stayed silent, his hands stuffed into his pockets as they walked side by side on the walking trail.

The whole time on the trail was like this. A calm silence over them like a blanket, but she felt like something was wrong with him. She kept glancing up at him, expecting him to say something or even to just tease her, but nothing was said. She observed how he was biting his lip and how he was staring at the ground like he was deep in thought.

They had been walking around the lake for a while, getting closer to the end of the trail. Before she could say anything to ask about his behaviour his hand sneaked up and placed itself on her waist, gently pulling her closer to his body. She looked away as her cheeks flushed pink.

He is probably cold, that’s why he did it.

In the distance she heard a voice. She snapped her head in the direction, hearing that the voice was followed by laughter of another voice.

“We aren’t being followed, don’t worry.” He says in a quiet voice. His thumb begun to gently caress her waist.

“What happens if we get caught?” She asked, turning to face him. He smiles as he flicks his gaze between her eyes and lips, “if we are caught, then we run.”

She hums and tries to distract herself from the nervous ideas running through her head. Chenle looked ahead and begun to walk faster, pulling her along with him. He stopped walking when they got to a spot when the tree was hanging over the path and practically hid them.

He let go of her waist and leaned against the tree. He closed his eyes and sighed, a small smile grazing his lips.

“What’s with you today?”

He peeked one open, finding her standing right in front of him, looking at him with soft concerned eyes. He uses his foot to push him off the tree and lean in towards her. Merely centimetres apart from her, he speaks up in a quiet voice.

“I’m just nervous.”

She raises an eyebrow, titling her head slightly at him. “Nervous of what?”

“Maybe I’m just nervous because I like you. Or maybe I’m nervous because I want to kiss you. It could be either of those reasons.” He said casually as though he really didn’t know which one he was truely nervous about.

Her jaw drops slightly as she stares at him with wide eyes. She knew she liked him, ever since they first became good friends. All these years she ignored the feelings. In fear of rejection, in fear of knowing the friendship might end, in fear of being caught by the public. So many worries but they all disappeared when she heard his words.

He liked her.

“Speaking of that…” He says, raising his hand up to brush some hair off her face and behind her ear, “can I kiss you?”

In a rush, she nods her head. Chenle grins and cups the side of face, leaning in closer to press their lips together. Her hands grabbed his wrists, holding them as he continuously kissed her lips slowly.

Her heart was beating erratically, and she swore she could feel his own heart doing the same when her hand let go of his wrist and went to his chest.

When he pulled back and looked at her, the blush that covered both of their faces was incredibly evident. She giggles and drops her head shyly. He leans forward again and kissing her forehead, the kiss lingering for a moment.

“What I’m about to say might make you cringe but-“ He was cut off by her groan of complaint.

“Don’t say it then.” He laughs as she still didn’t look up at him. His hand lifted up under her chin and slowly had her looking up at him.

“No matter what, it will always be you.”

“Not even your fans?” She asks jokingly with a teasing smile. He had told her in the past a similar sentence. That he would always be there for her, he would always find a way to go see her.

Chenle shakes his head to this though, with serious glimmer in his eyes, “Only you.”

it was late at night when he finally got back home and walked through the front door. you were sat on the couch, wanting to talk to him about his day since he had messaged you earlier that he wasn’t having a good day. when he saw you still awake, looking his way with a bright smile, he felt like he wanted to cry. everything that could possibly go wrong, went wrong. he walked over to you and pulled you into his arms. you wrapped your arms around his neck and hugged him tightly as he put his face in your neck. you pulled away slightly, just enough to look at his face.

he smiled and looked down at your lips, feeling a rush of love and affection for you, he realised how badly he wanted to kiss you. noticing his sudden change in demeanour, and sudden fascination with your lips. you grinned and asked, “can we kiss?” instantly he pressed his lips to yours, holding your waist tighter as he kissed you with his whole heart.

you two had been friends for a few years, and had been pining each others practically the whole time. one day, when you came over to his house earlier on the morning of his birthday, you stood by his front door with a gift bag in your hands. you filled a whole birthday card up with words - full of things you never thought you’d say. It wasn’t a confession of your love… but it was at the same time. you could definitely play it off as just simply being a really nice friend if he didn’t realise or didn’t reciprocate.

when he let you in, and opened the card first before even taking the gift bag from your hands. you two stood in his kitchen where he had been in the middle of eating, but the plate remained untouched ever since you got there. as he read the card thoroughly without a word, you looked around the kitchen, feeling too shy to look at him. suddenly he was in front of you, barely centimetres from your face. “this was so fucking sweet… can I kiss you?” you, wide eyed and staring at him, nod. he kisses you so fast, pressing your lips together so roughly at first before he relaxes and kisses you much more gently.

it was so fast. you two were in his bed, cuddling and talking about the movie you just finished watching. you spoke in quiet whispers, so you didn’t disturb the gentle silence of the night. he was sat behind you, with his legs spread and you in between them, leaning your back against his chest. as you spoke he pressed gentle kisses to your temple, before drifting down and pressing kisses to your cheek every now and then.

when you turned around and looked at him, he smiled and leaned in and kissed just beside your lips. it was then that you realised how badly you wanted to kiss him. so you did. you leaned in and within seconds you two were kissing each other in a rush. when you two do pull apart, you are breathing heavily and smiling brightly, going back to kiss each other again once you got your breath back.

haechan

you two were blasting music in your bedroom, dancing and singing to your hearts content. you grew tired and sat on the bed, and allowed haechan to take the imaginary show away. he danced for you with all his might, putting in all his effort. but he too grew tired from all the dancing - and laughing - so he walked over and stood in front of you.

you looked up at him from where you sat at the edge of the bed. you spread your legs and he stood in between them, his arms resting on your shoulders. you leaned forward and rested your chin on his stomach and looked up right at him. he giggled and lifted his hands up to your face, gently moving your face away from his stomach. he leaned down and pressed a kiss to your lips without thinking. you happily kissed him back, pulling him down onto the bed with you without breaking the kiss. when you two part for a breather, he rolls over off you and lies on his back, looking up at the ceiling with a goofy smile.

you two had just gotten home from a day out together. both of you weren’t ready to end the night, and you only wanted to stay in each others presence. so while he chose a movie to put on, you ran to the kitchen to grab something for the both of you to eat while you watched the movie. as you searched through the cupboards and stared at the options of snacks, jaemin had set the movie up, ready to press play, and made his way to the kitchen.

his sudden presence behind you went unknown to you until you felt his hands in your waist. You lightly gasped and turned around in surprise. He smiled down at you, grinning as he leaned in a pressed a loving kiss to your forehead. you stood still, staring at him as he continued to look at you, hands never leaving your waist. his smile dropped ever so slightly, almost as though he was nervous as he asked “can I kiss you?” under his breath. you nod, and within seconds his lips were on yours.

you were just playing with daegal when he came up behind you. since you were sitting on the ground, he leaned his knees on you to get your attention. when you turn around, he leaned down and that’s when you realised he had a gummy in his mouth. it was half sticking out and when he came closer to you, you realised he wanted you to bite the gummy off. you laugh and tilt your head away, making him laugh as he stands up straight. “lele if you wanted to kiss me you don’t even have to ask.” you said it as a joke - it was true, he didn’t have to ask, but it was a joke none the less.

you didn’t expect him to lean back down a couple of seconds later, with no gummy in his mouth. he grabbed your face and turned your head to face him directly. he titled his head to the side and kissed you just as quickly. as you kissed him back, you suddenly felt like your hand was getting licked. you start to giggle and shake your hand around trying to move it away from daegal. he breaks the kiss, curious to know why you were giggle, only to see daegal licking up your whole hand. “I kiss daegal wanted to kiss you too.”

you came over to the dorm since you hadn’t seen him in a while. You two weren’t really shy around each other anymore, and you two were really like best friends - and there wasn’t anything that really proved that you were more than that. other than the sweet touches and very common hugs, you two had never even kissed.

but when jisung saw you walk into his room, smiling and immediately telling him about how your day went with such excitement, he knew how much he liked you. he stood to his feet and walked over, causing you to stutter slightly in surprise. you stop talking and just look at him as he lifts his hands up and gently holds your face in them, his hands cupping your cheeks. “can I… kiss you?” not trusting your voice, you merely nod and he leans in, pressing a sweet kiss to your lips.

you were too different from each other. it was a shame really. he put in so much effort for you, and you did the same for him, but you two constantly fought. it wasn’t like it was big fights, it was just arguments and you both got pissed off and because he lived a busy life, you never get much of a chance to fully talk about it without getting angry again. the fights end up lasting days because of things. it causes a shift in the relationship, and after a while, you both stop trying.

he comes into the house, his clothes slightly wet from the heavy rain outside. he walks into the lounge room, dropping his bag on the floor and joins you on the couch in front of the heater. you take your blanket off you and pass it to him, to which he happily takes and covers himself.

“mark… we need to talk.” he looks over to you, his head leaning against the back of the couch casually. he urges you to continue, so you do. “it just.. I don’t think we are working well anymore. I don’t know we used to fight a lot but we don’t even do that anymore and I thought it was good but I realised it’s just because we don’t care anymore and we don’t try and-“ he places his hand on yours, making you look back to him. he was sitting up straight now, actively paying you attention despite his tired eyes from a long day at work.

“you can talk slowly,” he said quietly, “I agree with you. we aren’t working.”

you look down to your lap and retract your hands from his, fiddling with your nails. “do you think we should break up?”

silence fell over you both for a while. It felt like minutes passed before he spoke again.

“yeah, we should.”

you two didn’t connect like you used too. you realised this when you noticed how little the both of you talked to each other. you lived your life’s together as if it was a routine. kiss, each breakfast, leave with a goodbye, see each other again, do your own thing, have dinner together, kiss goodnight. a routine because you never did much together outside of that. your friends were the first ones to notice this before you even noticed it, and it made you realise how you almost didn’t care for him. you cared about his well-being of course, but you didn’t care much about how his day went and what he did.

upon this realisation, you knew you had to tell him. so when he came home that night, instead of leaving him alone after a simple hello, you took his hand and led him to the couch. he followed you, despite being confused, and sat down next to you. before he could say anything, you spoke, “Renjun, I don’t think… this is working anymore.” he closed his mouth and waited for you to continue, but when you didn’t he spoke up.

“if we are being honest, I don’t think we love each other anymore. we haven’t for a while.” you both sat there on the couch, and spoke for hours about everything. It’s funny how the end of your relationship is when you both spoke to each other the most.

jeno

you both had been feeling this way for a while. you grew apart months ago, and hadn’t found a way to grow back together. you were barely affectionate and it got to the point where if you kissed, it felt like it was sudden and odd even if it wasn’t an odd time to kiss.

you two had been in denial until last night, when you were on a phone call with your friend, phone on speaker as your friend spoke about her relationship with her boyfriend.

before you even realised, she had switched the conversation to pointing out all the problems that she had seen in your relationship. she wanted to know if you and jeno were doing well, it wasn’t her fault - she didn’t know she was on speaker and jeno was right next to you on the bed, on his own phone.

you and jeno slowly looked at each other. you stared at each other as your friend said “hey? hello? I’m sorry.. I was just wondering if you guys were doing okay..” You instantly clarify that it’s okay and you would call her back tomorrow, never clarifying about your relationship with jeno.

the next morning, as you made breakfast, jeno sat down on the chair by the bench and looked at you. “we should break up… shouldn’t we?” you paused, looking up at him. he seemed sad, but not the type of sad you’d be after losing someone you loved. more like the type of sad where you feel bittersweet and like you’ve lost something you used to treasure so much. you go back to making breakfast, as you say “yeah. let’s break up.”

you two were really close friends before you started dating, and when you two started dating it was perfect. until it wasn’t. it started out romantic and full of love, at least that’s what you both thought. Being each others first everything, you couldn’t decipher what your feelings truly were.

you two were on a walk by a river when this conversation happened. it was early morning and the sun was still rising. haechan had woken you up and asked to go for a walk, he said he really needed to clear his head, so you obviously agreed. the silence between you two felt different, and you just knew it wasn’t going to go well. but in a way, you felt relief building up in you.

“I just… i feel like we aren’t in love,”he slows his walking down, looking to you as you look back at him and also slow down. “I feel like we are better as friends.” you didn’t say anything, but you nod your head and wait for him to be by your side again before continuing to walk.

“we aren’t in love haechan, but…” You look up to meet his eyes, smiling your weakest smile yet, “I will always care for you. I may not have loved you the way I should have, but I loved you so much as my closest friend.” he couldn’t help but agree.

jaemin

all your friends thought you two were a perfect couple, and you did too. you two were so in love. until you weren’t. it wasn’t a big difference really. it wasn’t like you were fighting and being toxic to each other. you just didn’t think of him as someone you would ever marry. you didn’t love him. you were nervous on how to tell him, since he had loved you so much and he used to speak of marrying you when you were both young and early in the relationship.

but despite your worries, he came up to you. he approached you when you came back home from a night out with your friends. The whole night you spent basically talking to your friends about your situation, and they all said you should just end it tonight instead of leading him on.

jaemin and you sat on the couch, and before you could say anything, he spoke. “I’m really sorry… I really am but I… I don’t think I love you anymore.” you feel relief instantly and you nod, “I feel the same way.” he looked slightly surprised but also like he understood you completely. despite not loving each other, that night you both cried to each other while talking for hours on end.

you loved him, at least that’s what you thought? why was it that when you two kissed you felt nothing. over time, you noticed chenle stopped overall being affectionate with you as well, before eventually it was cut off all together. everything was the same, except it felt more like a friendship than a relationship.

so one night, after a movie finished playing, the two of you sitting beside each other but not cuddling like you used to do, you started the conversation.

“chenle, are we in love?”

he froze, as if he had been caught. he grabbed the tv remote and switched the tv off, turning to face you. “I…” He didn’t say anything afterwards so you figured you should tell him how you felt first.

“I don’t think this is working… it’s just… we are more of a friendship right now. like look at us we just watched a movie without once even touching hands. We used to always hold hands and we used to always hug and kiss. we don’t anymore.”

chenle nodded along to your words as you spoke, and when you finished he started.

“I’ve been feeling like this for a… while as well.” safe to say you both talked for a little while before you left, promising to come and get your things from his place tomorrow.

you and jisung had been together since you were both 18, and despite his job, you two had been able to make it work. and the truth is, you could continue to make it work. except for the fact that you didn’t love each other.

they were obsessed with the idea of love that they didn’t realise they didn’t love each other. so here you two sat, in his bedroom, the same place where it had all begun years ago. you were sat next to him, looking at his side profile as he looked away and thought to himself. you had told him how you felt about everything, and he had yet to reply.

“I get it…” He said slowly, “I understand what you mean.”

you looked down when he turned to face you. you weren’t sure if you could face him as he spoke. “I think… I liked the idea of us more than… us actually being together.” you nodded, thankful he at least felt the same way. you finally looked up and smiled at him, to which he smiled back. it felt better now. there was no tension.

“so this is the end?” you asked, making sure you understood completely. you didn’t want to him to think otherwise. “yeah.. I guess it is.”

his eyebrows knitted together but he accepted that maybe you just fell or something.
