Awake

Unleashed

Dominion

Comatose

Rise

Collide

Victorious

Couldn't have said it better myself. Those who face the darkness in themselves will better be able to understand and appreciate the light that is coming. Christian rock is sick as hell and I don't care what anyone says🤘

Going to see Disciple for the first time, can't wait for the experience!

“Why do you like Christian Rock? Christian Music is supposed to be joyous, that sounds so painful!”

Well, sometimes not all music is joyous. Yes, it’s wonderful to celebrate Jesus, of course, but sometimes people need him in pain too. If a non-religious person comes to a concert and hears “Jesus is wonderful!” They might not be convinced. But if they hear “Listen, I know life’s hard, and you are upset and you feel like a monster and you’re in the panic room, but there’s hope.” That might be enough to change their eternity.

When I went to see Disciple in Murphy, there were about 60-70 people there, and 12 accepted Jesus. While that might not seem like much, that’s 12 people who had their lives saved and the place they go when they die is looking up. While acts like TobyMac and For King and Country are absolutely incredible, they celebrate Jesus in every way. But at Skillet and Disciple shows, they have several teens come up to them saying “Your music saved my life.” While Toby and Joel and Luke are incredible, they can’t reach people the way Christian Rock can. The fact that these singers use a genre filled with agony and songs about death to talk about Jesus is truly something amazing.

I pray and hope that I get to be apart of this industry one day. I’m fired up about Jesus, and it’s such a beautiful and powerful thing that not only does music bring people together, and does music bring people to God, but it saves people’s lives and changes their eternity.

Plus, these performers are CRAZY talented. They have energy, amazing voices with crazy ranges, and can shred guitars and rock the drums like nothing I’ve ever seen.

So that’s why I like Christian Rock. Not just because it’s good. But because it’s freaking powerful.

Why Do You Like Christian Rock? Christian Music Is Supposed To Be Joyous, That Sounds So Painful!

The Band Tanks We Painted Yesterday.

The band tanks we painted yesterday.

Relient K was done by a friend. I don't usually go for yellow stuff but she and I figured the design would match the laces on my docs. "Long Live the Rebels" is both a song and album by Disciple. Now I have merch to go see them in!

Take a minute to watch this if you can because it's so good. Our modern day "punk scene" has got rly skewed ideas about what it rly is. You can be punk and believe anything. Punk Nazis standing next to anti racist punks like myself prove that point. It's about whether you'll fight for it. That's what makes you punk. Y'know I hate that I had that guy messaging me hateful things and I hate that I had to get so aggressive, but y'know, it's starting a great conversation here idk if I could have started otherwise. We all need to stop gatekeeping and accept the fact that punk isn't one thing, it's an expression of individuality and your truest self. My truest self includes JESUS CHRIST! You don't like that? Come say it to my face so I can tell you about Him!!!

I'm so so sorry to break this to you. You're not a punk. Mcr and top and Chr*stianity are not punk. Please...please stop.

Oh, I've been waiting for this...

*cracks knuckles*

First off, what authority do you have to decide what is punk and isn't? By definition a punk is someone who listens to punk music, believes in not selling out and supporting individuality. It's a social movement, not a faith based one.

Punk can go right in line with any religion and many different beliefs. If you're trying to tell people they can't be punk based off of their religion you seem to be pretty intolerant of my lifestyle. That sure as hell ain't punk, just like cussing a homosexual for their personal lifestyle choices ain't punk. Being yourself is punk. Love is punk, and Jesus is love. You can't argue with that. Jesus sat with and loved on the broken nobodies of our society and spit on the organized religions of His time. What's more punk than that?!

And as far as music, yes I love TOP and MCR! I'm also obsessed with the Front Bottoms and love me some good Showbread every now and then. If you took a few minutes to check my bio and Google those bands, you'd see one is hardcore punk and one is folk punk. You seem to not know your shit my man, especially to be going around policing other people minding their own business. I'm new to the punk scene and still learning the music and whatnot. If you were a true punk veteran, you'd be hyping up my learning process and giving me band recommendations instead of trying to police strangers on the Internet.

And all that being said, you don't know me! How can you judge someone you don't know? Blows my mind. Going around calling people posers, judging people and not respecting others is the least punk you can be. You wanna call people out to feel better about your own shortcomings? Go punch some "punk" Nazis and be useful at least.

Being bold is punk. You weren't even bold enough to leave your own username up, anon. Ha.

Calling all punk rockers!

I want to expand my knowledge of punk music and my band roster! I'm looking for one that's loud and rambunctious and all the good stuff but doesn't disrespect Christians or Jesus Christ. I don't necessarily want a band that sings about Him but I want one that doesn't slander either. Leave me some recs down in the comments if you have any!

artofkhaos404 - contributing to the khaos

I have no idea how this concert was free because it ROCKED HARD. I woke up with my neck sore as frick from headbanging, and that's when you know it's good.

But even more than that, Kevin Young has something to say. His sermons throughout the show were fantastic. People were led to Christ that night through the power of metal. People still think it summons demons, when it drives them out! You just gotta find the right band, and these men have something special. They spoke against suicide, against addiction, against depression. He reminded us that, because we woke up this morning, God still has a plan for our lives. The Christian rock scene is my home and I'd never belong anywhere else quite as well.

A bunch of Jesus loving freaks. Like me.

After the show I got the chance to speak to the band. I was explaining my appreciation to them for being leading forces in the Christian alternative movement and for making it easier to be so different. To be rejected by both rock elitists and the religious. Young interrupted me and just opened his arms. I didn't have to explain. He already knew.

Rockers are family. But Christian rockers?

We are held by a bond of brokenness and eternity: the outstretched arms of Jesus.

(The band saw my "Long Live the Rebels" shirt I painted and posted. They also complimented my look, so my diy and fashion dreams are pretty much complete at this point lol)

Realized I Never Actually Came Back With Pictures Of These Soooo Uhhh Here They Are!

"Thank God for Punk Rock"

"I Wanna Contribute to the Chaos"

"It's a Metaphor for Capitalism"

"Spider Punk"

So happy to have my first piece of the Front Bottoms merch! Especially being a writer and artist, I LOVE the design. The Spider Punk stuff brings me so much joy. I've been wearing the anti-capitalist pin like crazy. I don't even have to say anything about the Christian punk one, just yes.

I ordered about ten more this morning. Political designs, band designs, fandom ones etc. Pictures coming soon!

Hey punks. You looking for some sick pins and wanna support independent artists? Try the website Redbubble. I just ordered four pins from them and bro I'm so excited for them to come in like sifneofjwonfoenf

I know this is a stupid conversation to have, but I've recently realized that I may have a really screwed definition of this and I need to compare with other punks, goths, metalheads and otherwise music lovers so LISTEN UP.

In your opinion, how much of a band's discography do you have to had listened to in order to claim that you listen to the band?

Because my whole life, if I found a band, I wouldn't claim to really know them at all if I hadn't listened to their ENTIRE discography- even if that was twenty albums. And I wouldn't listen to any other music until I got through it all. Only recently I kinda stopped doing that because it gets exhausting not being able to move on until I've heard EVERYTHING this new band I'm into has put out. Music became more of a chore than anything. But you also don't wanna be like "I listen to Pierce the Veil!" if you've heard three songs. Where's the line?

So Lacey Sturm was originally in the Christian hard rock band Flyleaf but she's got a solo career now. Check out her song "Reconcile" for starters. And Love and Death is a Christian nu metal band started by Brian "Head" Welch, who started out as the guitarist in the band Korn and broke off to do his own thing... so if you like Korn's sound, it's almost the same thing, but from a Christian perspective. I like his songs "Adonai" and "L.O.V.E."

I WAS HOPING BRIAN WOULD STAY IN THE SCENE AND CHANGE HIS ANGLE THAT'S AWESOME HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD ABOUT THIS-

Thanks, I'll definitely have to check em out!

I wanna shine in the light // Glow in the dark // Strike like a match on a burning heart

Love this song by Manafest! I'm a big fan of his rapping style, and I love the lyrics of this song. I also love whenever he teams up with Trevor McNevan, because his singing with Manafest's rapping is so awesome! His music is such a cool fusion of rock and rap. I also love supporting amazing independent musicians like him.

When blame is the truth we’re preaching // And lies are what we’re believing // No one wins when the goal is to settle the score

Love this song by for KING & COUNTRY! They have such a theatrical feel to all of their songs, and this one is no different.  Not only do I love the lyrics, but Joel and Luke sound awesome as always.  If you’ve never seen them live, I encourage you try to; they give the best shows!  The lyrics are super relevant right now with all that is going on as well. This song becomes so much more powerful when set to the scenes from Ben Hur as well.
