i found a rollator someone wanted to throw out
if you use or know someone who uses a rollator, don’t throw them out!!!
give back to the community. if you don’t need it anymore and you can afford not to sell it, give it away! mobility aids never belong in the trash because someone else can always use it
punks give back
there is no shame is owning/using/needing different mobility aids for different days, situations, etc.
i own two canes and two rollators, and i’ve only recently (just of today!) that walking with my two canes (like makeshift forearm crutches) is more helpful on some days than my rollator.
initially, i felt guilt because we spent a lot of money on my rollator but my canes allow me more range of movement and less pain (not zero but still less). but then i realized i shouldn’t feel guilty for something out of my control, especially since i still get good use out of my rollator. and, if i no longer need it, i can give it to someone else!
people are still treating mobility aids as a joke…
whether it be using canes and walkers as a joke for being elderly, or people falling out of wheelchairs as the butt of a joke.
mobility aids aren’t funny, ARE necessary for many people and can be sexy if u want them to be
i got new gloves! my mum got them from a hardware store so i’m not exactly sure what type of glove they are. but they’re super reinforced and fit well :) i’m using them tomorrow so i’ll keep note of how they work
i went out in my wheelchair to a festival today :)
it’s my first time being out for that long while in my chair. luckily, i had my partner and friends to help me whenever i got stuck/my arms got tired.
i did, however, get two blisters on my hands. do any other wheelchair users have suggestions for how to minimize blisters? or any at-home remedies for blisters?
