Donna Noble And The Plucky Young Man Who Helps Her Out - Tumblr Posts
NO NO WAIT. If one of them accidentally does something couple-y with no audience they are subjected to merciless teasing from the other. Occasionally the best way to tease is to act all couple-y right back, because why do they get flustered by it? Because we are totally platonic right? How silly. Great ammunition for the next battle of wits between two completely platonic best mates.
The thing about romantic Tendonna is that it's not that I don't think it's impossible and also do what u want for shipping. I DO however think it's impossible that they would actually get together as a couple because they're both the most horrifically stubborn and dedicated to the bit people in the universe. They would be playing attraction chicken and first one to even float the idea of changing their relationship to something non platonic loses. Where a normal couple would have mutual pining they have mutual spite đ.
not to hot take after pulling a sickie all-nighter again but i do think Doctor/Donna would be a more popular pairing if CTate was and had been a thin 20 to 30 year old. like, i feel like there's some unconscious dismissals happening thanks to her not fitting an expect 'type'
yeah yea 'best mates' and 'siblings energy' are valid reasons not to ship it, but like.... I shipped rose/nine like crazy, the chemistry was so good, but I then felt like ten/rose had 'best mates' and 'siblings' energy, yet the default reading of ten/rose is romantic while the default reading of Donna (and Martha lbr) got set to 'that's his FRIEND, it's never romantic' with a lot more people just. never bothering to look at it from another angle or try to see how anyone could want to see them together.

DOCTOR WHO | The Runaway Bride
partners in crime.
I just desperately want to know how I was supposed to interpret this scene as platonic.
Donna: I am at a loss for words
Ten:*narrating* despite being at a loss for words, she shouted at me for the next 10 minutes
đ
The way they are, the doctor would probably tell Donna he loved her without realizing he said it until a few minutes later when she realizes he said it
The best ships have...
Denial
Copious amounts of sass
Hugs
Detoxes and biodamps
Tragedy
Overall cuteness
âRight then. Thanks, you two. I can handle this. See you later.â
Iâve thought a lot about what was the moment where it all went wrong for the Doctor in the Turn Left universe, and I think itâs right here. We know he has to make his way to HC Clements and the Torchwood base below it, and to do that Lance and his unfortunate bride would have to come with him this far.
But then the Doctor says this. He still thinks heâs better off without taking on a new companion and heâs projecting an air of absolute confidence and ease. And considering we know most of what whoever took Donnaâs place would have been through, is it any stretch of the imagination that she would take his word for it?
Most people would head for the hills at this point. Nearly dying, attacked at their own reception, the company they work for revealed to be harboring shady secrets? Maybe they might even leave to phone the police. It takes a special kind of person to say, âNo chance, Martian. Youâre the man who keeps saving my life. I ainât letting you out of my sightâ and get right on the lift with him to unknown danger.
It takes Donna Noble.
A lot of people tend to describe Turn Left as a âwhat if the Doctor died storyâ and they entirely miss the point. Itâs a âwhat if Donna never met the Doctorâ story. Because Donna was the crucial element that, if missing, sent the whole thing crashing down. No other substitute would do. The Doctor needed someone as loud and strong-willed and stubborn as he was, who both could see through his lies and could reach him at even the worst of his downward spiral, and who needed healing of her own. Only one person could save him in so many ways, and that was her.
This kind of story had to be done with Donna. To me, Turn Left is far more a showcase of her ability than Journeyâs End. Because she saved the Doctor on her own just by being herself, and in turn ensured the survival of countless others. One seemingly inconsequential, coincidental human was all that stood between the Earth and total ruination. One simple act of kindness.
And I absolutely think the Doctor knows it.
Stranger, approaching Donna at a bar: Did it hurt?
Donna, internally rolling her eyes: Did what hurt?
Stranger: Did it hurt when you fell from heaven?
Ten, sliding up to Donna and wrapping an arm around her waist: No it didn't because I was there to catch her
Donna:*holding coffee in one hand and a bowl of cereal in the other* What if instead of pouring milk into my cereal, I pour coffee into it instead?
Doctor:*walking past and taking away the coffee* What if you didn't
âuh- donna and i, absolutely married. uh.. very happily. always, um, popping off down the farmersâ market, pick up some organic.. jaffa cakesâ
Itâs them a again!! Some Ten and Donna stuff from this month
