Sand Snakes
Today I want to talk about the Sand Snakes.
As I was watching ‘Game of Thrones’ having read the books, I was so excited for these girls to show up. To see them on screen and see how and different from one another they are. But then…
The show happened.
And you could not understand who was who. They were all dressed in the same way, all of them almost the twin of the other, and all with zero character. And their only power is the one that made us all forget about them. (As well as the entire Dorne Plot.)
The Sand Snakes of Dorne are 8. They are all illegitimate daughters of Oberon Martell, who in the years had many lovers and due to that the first 4 girls were born from different mothers; while the last 4 are all daughters of Ellaria Sand.
The Sand Snakes live in Dorne and they make their entrance in the story after the death of their Father and they want vengeance, of course against the Lannisters.
In the show we saw them acting as Ellaria’s minions, but it is not like that.
Ellaria is devastated after the death of her lover and she doesn’t think that vengeance would benefit anyone. But the Sand Snakes do not see it that way.
Of course Lorenza and Dorea are very young, but they look up to their sisters. Elia is growing up and becoming dangerous and restless. Obara is the eldest of the girls and she is very upset for what happened she dislikes Marcella Lannister that is now in their realm. While for Nymeria and Tyene, Prince Doran has other plans. Nymeria is going to sit in the King’s Council in King’s Landing as a compensation for Oberyn’s death, while Tyene is going to infiltrate to spy on the High Sparrow.
They are going to be pro active in the War in King’s Landing and I can’t wait for it!

Obella is twelve, on the brink of maidenhood. They worship you, as Dorea and Loreza worship them. If you should die, must El and Obella seek vengeance for you, then Dorea and Loree for them? I never thought The Martells could be very dark. Elia and Oberyn both have blond, blue-eyed children. That is rare for people of color, and the odds go down the darker the non-white parent gets. I'm sure you could dig up some instances where it happened, but it is certainly not the norm for very dark people to have blond, blue eyed children, and it happened twice in the same family! Either the Martell family has the most un-dominant skin and hair genes EVER, or they aren't that dark at all.
It’s because most of these children are biracial??? A dark-skinned person can perfectly have a very fair-skinned child. If Sarella can be black because her mother is from the Summer Islands, Tyene and some of Elia’s children can perfectly be white-skinned if one of their parents are. Also, you seem to ignore that Rhaenys, Elia’s daughter, favors her mother and is dark-skinned.
In any case, the Martells are described as visibly non-white people in the material and the casting should reflect that, no matter how their children look.
