Every star wars nerd fan has this one obscure Force power/technique/ability normally from the legends expanded universe that they will defend until their very end

I’ve had a couple of asks on this one recently so I thought I’d briefly explain about Granary Trees because I had some clumsy wording in the main entry. 

At some point in the distant past the common ancestor of Granary Trees and Oaks budded off acorns pretty much wherever, much like the Jabuticaba. From what few fossil records exist, it looks like the Oaks split off to favor dropping a metric crapload of acorns from the ends of branches in the hopes that eventually the animals eating them would become too sated to continue devouring future trees while also reducing incidental chewing damage done to trunks and boughs. Granary Trees on the other hand started being more protective of their seeds and only growing them partway out of the branches and trunk, presumably to cut down on the energy expenditure of fruit. As with most anything involving evolved defenses, this set off an arms race with an ancestor of Acorn Woodpeckers which finally ended in a symbiotic stalemate as the woodpeckers became necessary to spread the acorns in order to prevent the choking death of the Granary Tree.

Evolution is weird.

Unlike more traditional woodpeckers who root around for interesting larvae and boring insects, Acorn Woodpeckers have a symbiotic relationship with Granary Trees (an ancient offshoot of mighty Oaks). Without the help of these chisel-beaked avians, Granary Trees would strangle as their own acorns germinate inside them. After removing the acorns, these unusual woodpeckers will proceed to bury them in underground caches as emergency food in case of a harsh winter; come spring any caches that were not consumed sprout new Granary Trees, beginning the cycle anew.

Alpha-class Xg-1 Star Wings were a type of starfighter utilized by the Empire. One of the first general purpose fighters used by the Imperial Navy, the Star Wing performed well against Rebel forces and was an excellent craft. Unfortunately, its unique position in Imperial forces left it to operate without comprable support, keeping assault gunboats less popular that TIE fighters.

I'm seriously excited about this Stranger Things prequel book. I don't really buy books anymore but I may shell out the $15-20 for the physical hardcover when it comes out.

I just wish the Duffer Bros would make up their damn minds about what to do with Dr. Brenner already because I’m sick to death of Dr. Brenner being demonized and tuned into an tropey abusive edgelord.

Just hand him off to Shawn Levy to make a spinoff that has absolutely nothing to do with the test subjects and is completely removed from Stranger Things. Judging by numerous interviews and Twitter posts it seems like Matthew Modine and Shawn Levy have plans for Brenner of some sort and the Duffers clearly don’t give a shit.

So, they’re releasing a new comic series about Six, an experiment before El. Hm, I’m not sure what’s canon. Didn’t Brenner dismiss all the previous subjects before Kali as failures? If so, why is Six important?

Then again, haven’t read the book yet. Maybe my timeline is wrong, but it kinda seems like the “outer canon” is starting to contradict itself. 

Anyway. This further convinces me that if given the chance, Will would’ve been a number too. 

So there's ANOTHER Stranger Things origin novel coming out about Max along with that comic about Six and the novel about Hopper?

I'm starting to think that Netflix doesn't really care about the TV show itself anymore - just the heaps and heaps of merchandise.

Why did I even read the new comic? The Stranger Things expanded universe sucks. Hey Netflix, get weird and give us Evil Hopper, Leather Wearing Goatee Having Negative-Brenner or Space Dinosaurs in the Upside Down or something good and batshit, please!!! EUs are supposed to swing weird and wild, not be vague grimdark bullshit.
