Hello Everyone,

Hello everyone,

have you heard of “Star Wars: Red Harvest” (Darth Scabrous for the Germans), it's a wonderful scary book.

I can recommend it to anyone who wants to read something different from the Star Wars galaxy.

It's also the prequel to the book “Star Wars: Death Trooper”, which I can also recommend if you like the other book.

Have a nice day.

About zabrak

Okay, so I'm primarily a lurker on here. But I found out something interesting and I thought it'd be neat to share it with y'all.

So, I was doing some research for my final project about nightsisters for my Star Wars class (Yes, that is a real 3 credit course at my college) when I came across this channel. I know, it has 4k subs, and a lot of its videos range around the hundred. I didn't think this channel would be a good source. That was til I looked their archived interviews and recognized a few names of big Star Wars creators.

There's Dave Wolverton (The author of The Courtship of Princess Leia, the book which Dathomir and its witches debuted in. I actually used/referenced this in my essay), Daniel Wallace (Another big Star Wars author who wrote some essential guides), three separate interviews of John Jackson Miller (Author of the legends Kenobi book), they even got interviews with Sam Witwer and James Arnold Taylor. Forgive me for not recognizing the rest of the names, but there's just so many.

But what really got my attention was the interview with Ryder Windham, the author of The Wrath of Darth Maul, a book we Maul fans absolutely love. While I was listening, Windham said something interesting around the 23 minute mark:

" . . . someone decided that Darth Maul was a zabrak, and it was a word I made up. It has nothing - there's no history behind it beyond that . . "

This got me, honestly. The guy who wrote Maul's origin story also came up with the name of his near-human species?? Of course, because I was still iffy if this podcast was legit or not, I had to look for myself. There's not a whole lot, but I did find this article interview of Windham back 2012 about The Wrath of Darth Maul, and him coming up with zabrak was further explained:

"However, I did have an indirect impact on Maul's background. In 1998, Running Press hired me to write Star Wars: Episode I Who's Who, and for that book, Lucasfilm encouraged me to create names of species and homeworlds as well as brief biographies for various members of the Jedi Council and also the Podracers. I came up with the word Zabrak to describe Eeth Koth's species, and then another writer decided that the similarly horned-headed Darth Maul should also be a Zabrak. When I first heard a character say 'Zabrak' on The Clone Wars, I had to grin at that."

Again, this source is also weird because it's on a .net Star Wars fan site, and a lot of the punctuation is filled with questions marks rather than, you know, proper punctuation, but it's still interesting that two separate sources confirmed the same thing.

Y'all can ignore if you can't believe it; I don't blame you. Everything's linked if you wanna check them out yourself. But I thought I would share these findings because I don't think I've seen people talk about this in posts about The Wrath of Darth Maul.

I was literally looking for this last night after getting the overwhelming urge to read Apprentice, Quest, and Last of the Jedi

Gonna be real here the Jedi Apprentice books aren't available in any electronic format (which also makes them hard to... um... acquire in ways Hondo Ohnaka would endorse) and a full set of physical copies w shipping to Canada will set you back $300 minimum so as a result I have only a rube's understanding of what actually happened to Obi-Wan before TPM other than Master and Apprentice and know fuck-all about Xanatos etc etc. And it's annoying bc the full set of Jedi Quest books legally bought is like 1/5th that cost solely because you can get them in ebook form.

ok so i haven’t read any star wars books but i want to try to find some to start reading so does anyone have any recommendations on some good ones?

was thinking of getting the first high republic book which i know i’ll probably have to take a second to get used to since it’s 200 years before any of the trilogy takes place but the concept peaked my internet.

Trooper simps! Stop what you're doing & listen....there's a 'choose your own adventure' Clone Wars kids book where you're Plo Koon's padawan, you meet up with an Alpha ARC called Trantos & you both attempt to foil an evil Seppie scientist's plot... and among the various storylines you can choose are:

1) getting captured and Trantos saves you, bursting in, guns blazing w a detonite stick in his mouth

2) escaping a trap & and meeting up with his Nautolan bounty hunter side chick in an underwater city and persuading her to give you information

3) accidentally joining Dooku's training camp & fighting Asajj Ventress to protect him

4) getting mistankenly arrested by the Baran Do for bringing misfortune to their planet

5) ending up in a cantina and have your brains adled by a mysterious laser weapon

6) getting sucked into a black hole & ending up on a swamp planet that has nothing to do with the mission & a flower kills you...

There are more possible plot lines, but you get the idea. They're all bonkers and a ton of fun to read through. Depending on what you choose, Trantos is either this sassy ARC who's annoyed w your incompetence or your best friend in chaos.

It's a kids' book, so a very quick read and its hilarious. "Clone Wars: Dooku's Secret Army" 10/10

Lightsaber Theory: Obi-Wan "Sith Lords are Our Specialty" Kenobi consistently loses duels to Dooku not for any reason of technical form mismatch or lack of ability, but because Dooku is not even pretending to try to kill him. Resultantly, Obi-Wan can’t figure out what the fuck is going on when they fight.

Obi-Wan: (preparing to defend an expected lethal strike) You’ll answer for your enormities, Count!

Dooku: (giving him the lightest love tap on the leg) Don’t be so sure, my special good lineage baby boy, so perfect in my eyes.

Obi-Wan: …What?

Dooku: What?

Which Dooku and Obi-Wan proud lineage moment is even the most unhinged? There are so many to choose from! Is it Dooku’s frequent inability, both in AotC and TCW, to keep from spontaneously gushing about Sidious’s plans and even his own dark secrets to Obi-Wan?? Is it the time in Labyrinth of Evil where Dooku drags a long-suffering, bored Grievous over to watch a holorecording of Anakin and Obi-Wan thwarting his plans yet again, to point out how beautifully they’re working together as a team and how much he likes watching their lightsaber work evolve? Is it in the recent Brotherhood novel, where Obi-Wan just has to casually namedrop Qui-Gon to get Dooku to do exactly what he wants?

Obi-Wan is a big problem for Sidious in his mission to destabilize and corrupt Anakin, and Sidious knows it. He needs him out of the picture to do the same isolating, evil bullshit that worked so well when ensnaring Dooku himself. But the war has been going on for years now, and guess who remains inconveniently alive? And whose job was that to take care of? Oh yeah. I remember. His useless, Padawan assassin-collecting apprentice: fucking Count Dooku. By the time of RotS, Sidious has specifically ordered Dooku to make fucking sure Obi-Wan is dead only for him to completely ignore the command about a half-dozen times.

Going by the Stover RotS novelization, in the same scene where Dooku also literally refers to Obi-Wan as his fucking grandson actually, add that to our earlier list, Sidious reiterates that KILL OBI-WAN is the plan (over the sound of Dooku’s loud complaining) moments before that final duel.  I kind of wish we’d gotten a shot of Sidious's incredulous, enraged expression as Dooku knocks Obi-Wan unconscious and pins him safely out of the way. He is, once again, going out of his way to not kill Obi-Wan in that duel, and this time directly disobeying his Master to his face after they just had a conversation about it. You just know exactly what Sidious must be thinking at that moment. Oh, Dooku. You are so fucking fired.

« STAR WARS REPUBLIC COMMANDO : HARD CONTACT » IS FINALLY MINE !!

Boy I can’t wait to read it and the entire Republic Commando series !! From Karen Traviss, I have only "read" « The Clone Wars », quote-unquote as it was an audiobook, but I enjoyed her writing style. I’m excited to give it a visual try, although I have a feeling I’m gonna enjoy it a lot !

Hello everyone.

I'm somewhat new to Tumblr, so everyone will have to excuse me if I do anything to offend.

I've inherited 90+ star wars books (half of which are now non-cannon, and about 3 duplicates, but I'll still review and read the books, and duplicates will be photographed together). I've been reading them and wanted to know if I should start making reviews of them all.

I would add pictures of the books, explanations as to changes between the books and the movies if needed, and rate them one to five stars on my tastes alone.

I'm also aware that I'm missing books in the timeline, although I do have the books to movies 1 - 7. I'm in the process of finding the missing books (including 4 or 5 that my husband has suggested I find and read).

Please let me know if your interested!

Hello everyone!

So, as I've said, I'll start the reviews with Star Wars Episode 1: the Phantom Menace.

Hello Everyone!

So as I read it, I ate the speedway brand gummy bears (which I love).

My review:

It was an almost-perfect copy of the movie. I wasn't particularly fond of this one, but I appreciate that the movie didn't leave very much out and kept my attention through the story. It even gave me an insight to the relationship between Padme and Anakin and the story of Shmi Skywalker.

And the gummy bears made it feel almost bittersweet because I was so concentrated on the book that I accidentally let them get "stale" (they hardened and made it tougher to chew).

So my rating is ✳️✳️✳️✴️✴️

Not the worst story, but pretty good.

And with that, I say

May the Force be with every one of you! And you'll hear from me soon, I promise.

Hey guys! So I just finished Attack of the clones. 3/91 books read.

My review: 7.5/10. Not the greatest star wars story ever, but not the worst. I loved the interactions between Padme and Anikin, and I loved seeing some of the story through Boba Fett's pov. I did have to put down the book for a while to do some normal, everyday things that had been piling up, so I appreciate the patience. Next is Revenge of the Sith, which is my husband's favorite movie out of the Prequel trilogy, so let's see if it compares to the book.

Also, I have to change some things about the Star Wars Book Reviews series I've done. Normally, I post pics of the snacks that I eat while I read the books. Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, I've stopped snacking all together, started to work out and diet, and even lost some weight. So no snacks reviews. Sorry.

However, if you would like for me to update everyone on my progress, just comment down below, I'll add an update to every book review in place of the snack.

Thanks for the patience guys! May the Force be with you.

Hey everybody!

So I finished Star Wars Episode 5: The Empire Strikes Back.

Hey Everybody!

It's a very good book, a quick read, much like A New Hope. The book is very similar to the movie, with a few changes throughout.

I rate this 4.5 Star Destroyers out of 5.

And I shall see you all next time after I read Episode 6: Return of the Jedi.

May the Force be with you.

Fate of the Jedi is a really weird series

half of it is really interesting and half is just 🤨 can we go back to the political drama now? I’m reading the seventh book right now so if you care spoilers up till then

Much of the plot is a political drama and you have a chief of state challenging the Jedi on their “military power but not military accountability” but then becoming more and more paranoid and control hungry until you end up with a war between the Jedi and the government and meanwhile there’s the imperial remnant being civil with the new republic government and even while its leader is engaged to marry a Jedi and there are conspirators working together to take down both the republic chief of state and the leader of the imperial remanent. Oh plus there’s currently a bunch of organized protests and slave revolts happening in the new republic which is another thing for the chief of state to worry about. And what does she do? She hires mandalorians because she can’t use the regular military.

Then you have these Jedi who went mad and thought that everyone was an imposter and started attacking people (this was the tipping point with the chief of state)  and so Luke skywalker and his son head off to find what is causing it and they find an ancient being who can consume force users and one of the people it consumed was one of Luke’s ex girlfriends and we meet another one who is in very short order also consumed by this monster and they’re trying to figure out how to kill her and oh my here’s a civilization of sith no one knew exsisted and now luke and his son are workin with one and the sith girl and luke’s son are maybe falling for each other and then we’re about to make headway on the ancient monster problem but then we switch back to the political drama

And there are so many povs. The whole time the force stuff is going on I really just want to go back to the political drama

I mean I’ll be the first to admit I’m kinda biased against the force as a deep mando lore nerd but at the same time I adore the high republic novels so idk.

anyways I rather like these books
