Garden Update #6
Hey, Hey, Hey!! đ exciting stuff today
â¨Onionsâ¨
Growing flawlessly. I already had to trim the tops off bc they were getting too tall and falling over. Iâll have to do it again pretty soon.

â¨Radishesâ¨
Also sprouted up very nicely and are doing well. Some of the stems have turned red so hopefully Iâll get some good sized radishes. The leaves got too heavy so I had to prop them up so they donât grow sideways and I forgot how spiky radish leaves are.

â¨Carrotsâ¨
Theyâll need to be thinned out here pretty soon. I probably shouldâve figured out how to give them there own grow bag so that I could have more, but itâll be okay. This growing season was kinda one big experiment for me.

â¨Tomatoâ¨
Itâs about half my height. Itâs funny bc it wonât look like itâs growing for a couple days and then it sprouts up a bunch and youâre like âwoah, itâs so big.â It has some blossoms on it so Iâm hoping for big juicy tomatoes.

â¨Peppersâ¨
Theyâre doing alright, I think. I question their stability sometimes, but theyâre still growing and saying tall so.. oh well

â¨Bok Choyâ¨
Thatâs right, only 2 Bok Choy atm. The big one is growing very nicely which Iâm kinda surprised about bc it was so hot the past couple weeks and they prefer cooler temperatures. Iâll be able to plant more pretty soon, to see how they grow too. Iâm actually so happy one is doing well bc Iâve never grown Bok Choy before.

â¨Basilâ¨
Itâs pretty small still, Iâm not gonna lie, it worries me a bit. Something also dug right next to the smaller basil the other day and I think it stunned it a bit, it doesnât look too well. Hopefully, theyâll start growing up more soon.

â¨Strawberries and Cilantroâ¨
Remember my cilantro was doing so well and smelled so good, it all died. Idk what happened. It didnât want to do it no more. So I planted more but this time directly outside, weâll see how it does.
My strawberries arenât growing. Idk whatâs wrong with them either, I havenât gotten a single sprout and I shouldâve at this point. I did plant roots and I donât know if those are harder to get started or what. Iâll give them a bit more time, but if theyâre a no show I guess thatâs that. I think itâs too late to try from seeds, so I may have to wait till next year to try strawberries again. They were something that I had never grown before either so Iâm kinda not surprised something went wrong.
Thatâs all I have for now. I think Iâll be able to harvest the radishes and Bok Choy soon so thatâs very exciting. Hopefully everything keeps growing well.
Iâll be back with more later on. Wait for me.

Came home after a few days away and noticed my parsley plant was basically gone. Upon further investigation, I see that these caterpillars (aka parsley worms) were feasting while I was gone. I guess they can make it up to me if they set up shop so I can watch some metamorphosis happen. Hopefully Iâll have some Eastern Black Swallowtail friends around here soon!

Late garden update. My garden brought me a lot of joy this summer. Working solely remote with work and online classes to finish my MBA, my garden is what gave me some responsibility out of the house. Even though it was in the backyard, it was still out of my room nevertheless.
After enjoying endless recipes using the vegetables and herbs, it was time to regenerate. The dirt in all my pots, including the plants were placed in the compost today. The compost and the dirt will create some beautiful soil for next season. There were a few herbs that I wasnât quite done with yet, so they are hanging out on the porch for now. I love how every part of the plant has its use from seed to compost. Nothing goes to waste!

Garden update! Lots of growing since my last one.
Figs have been popping up on the tree, I now have some citrus that Iâve added to the bunch. The herbs are doing well, and my leafy greens have been doing so well in the box!

Pruning the Buttercrunch today! Looks like Iâm having salad for lunch. With a little spinach too.

Garden Update! My herb baskets have really grown up and are shooting up to bloom for the pollinators to come by. Same goes for my butter crunch lettuce.
I was able to successfully move 3/4 of my Brussels sprouts to individual pots to help them flourish more. And look! I have broccoli and carrots coming in!
The newest addition: squash and zucchini. Iâm going to work on building a wire trellis along the fence for them to climb today so they have get big and produce lots of veggies.

An extremely proud farmer of patio carrots.

I love growing things. Turned this little concrete patio into a very green space - and an edible one too. Now I just need to help eating all of this. Who wants to come chill on the patio?

Living on the coast means you find creative ways to use your conch shells. Gotta make sure my squash gives my little tomato some room to grow.

First squash of the summer! A nice summer solstice gift from the squash box.

Today, I held:
A tiny baby painted turtle who was NOT happy about it. (He was placed back in the pond soon thereafter.)
A handful of cherry tomatoes and peppers from my garden!
