Garden Updates - Tumblr Posts
First garden update of the season! These are some of my herbs this year. Hanging in baskets and in random pots. So far so good. My English Thyme is doing wonderfully. I bought it back in September, and it made it through the winter and is continuing to grow now. That was exciting to see! I also got some cat nip growing with some marigolds. Ophelia should enjoy that for sure.
Most of these here are still very young plants, and they will continue to grow! There’s much more going on back there. I’m so excited to share!
Let’s try this again. Frog in my lettuce.
(Tumblr labeled this as mature yesterday)
An extremely proud farmer of patio carrots.
Garden update!
So the box has been completely turned over to squash and zucchini, and one tomato sucker I stuck in it. Speaking of tomatoes, about a month ago, I was at my parents house, and my dad had plucked some big suckers off his tomato plants. I grabbed three and drove them to the beach. Those things were completely wilted over and on their last leg, but I didn’t give up hope for them. Long story short, look at them in my Home Depot bucket - flowering and everything.
I also have a makeshift propagation corner going on in my kitchen right now. Using some old beer bottles and what I had on hand. Seems to be working just fine.
About a month ago I took some tomato suckers off the ground my dad had tossed out and propagated them back to life. Today I got my first little tomatoes on the plant. Tomatoes are wild. Also, look at those squash babies.
First squash of the summer! A nice summer solstice gift from the squash box.
Tried to take a picture of my new aquascaping addition to the patio garden, and I ended up getting a selfie. The summer heat has not been too kind to the garden, but we’re trying to make it through. Then I can replant for the autumn harvest!
Today, I held:
A tiny baby painted turtle who was NOT happy about it. (He was placed back in the pond soon thereafter.)
A handful of cherry tomatoes and peppers from my garden!
