So Zoe is Mal, Jimmy is Ben, Gary is Jay and Pete is Carlos. If there would be Evie I am 100% certain it would be Gord!
Okay, so you may or may not know that I live with a circus of children and in doing so, I watch a lot of Disney by proxy. And in watching a lot of Disney, I’ve seen Descendants and y’all know I’m good for an AU so:
Gary, Zoe, and Pete are all children of villains and grew up on the Isle of the Lost. From an early age, they’ve had the importance of ‘friending’ people who have the potential of being useful beat into them. Their friendship is a balance of Zoe’s aggression, Gary’s charisma, and Pete’s intelligence (and if it stems from a little more than that, they’re smart enough not to talk about it).
Gary is the son of a king off the island and a thief. His father breaking his mother’s heart created a hatred of men which very clearly includes her son. He blames his dad for the terrible conditions his mother is forced to live in and any abuse he’s suffered from her as a result of that. Zoe’s the daughter of a witch and a prince from a kingdom her mother destroyed prior to being banished to the island. Her mother’s ingrained in her the untrustworthy ways of men and she constantly berates Zoe for her friendship with Gary and Pete. Pete’s parents are both pirates. They’re very self-concerned and sometimes he’s not sure if they remember they have a kid. He has an affinity for shiny things and things that tick.
