If you couldn’t tell, I’m basically reading this frat boy series and I’m in love. The line “let me love you until you forget all the pain I’ve made you go through” really made my heart ache.
the bro;
∎ Always drinking beer, he’s one of the most fun frat boys to party with. He is the one to invite people to the frat house parties, be the loudest at football games, and hypes everyone up during a game of beer pong. The thing is, nobody has ever seen him in class. Seriously, is he even a student here? Also, he definitely thinks that any day that ends in a “y” is a perfect day to blackout.

At the age of 8, you discovered an empty grass field located down the street from your home. It’s grass that created an itchy discomfort against your skin, it’s surrounding flowers that were yet to be bloomed and swarms of mosquitoes that attacked your arms and legs - provided a sense of comfort in your life. Daydreaming from hours on end and watching the clouds drift by until the sun finally set, was how you spent most of that summer.
It wasn’t until two summers later that dandelions had begun to bloom on that very field.
When you brought home one of them, your mother told you that dandelions were a symbol of love. It’s said that by blowing off all the seeds in one breath, it meant that the person you loved - loved you back. But, if any seeds remained, the person you have feelings towards may reserve their affections for you.
There was only one person you loved, Lee Donghyuck.

Puppy Love | LHC
Synopsis: When you said you wanted to be his bitch, this wasn’t what you had in mind.
Pairing: Haechan x Fem!Reader (ft. Chenle and Daegal lol)
Genre: fluff, humor | a whiskey away au?
Word Count: 2.3k
Warning/s: cursing, y/n would lowkey let Haechan spit in her mouth
“Baby, why don’t you want to go on a walk with me?” Haechan’s whining is snuffled as he rubs his face on your stomach.
He lifts your arms and shoves them into an obnoxiously green cable knit sweater. One that he had specifically bought to match something he already had. Apparently, it’s the best way to show that you were ‘his’. Your kinda boyfriend can’t help but snort at your attempt to wriggle out of his embrace.
“Let’s go,” he drags both the last syllable and your reluctant body out of bed. “You’ve been cooped up in this room for so long, you need fresh air, baby. Plus we look so cute right now, we owe it to the world to bless them with these visuals.”
When you said you wanted to be Haechan’s bitch, so much so that it was acceptable if he used that exact term every once in a while, this wasn’t what you had in mind.
Blame it on Chenle for asking the older boy for dating advice. Blame it on them for talking loudly in the kitchen. Loud enough for you to listen in on their conversations and daydream about what it would be like if you were the one holding the latter’s hand and not one of the ‘many’ ex-girlfriends he took on these ‘romantic dates’.
At least that’s what you gathered from accidentally overhearing them every time you walked over to grab some snacks. What you don’t hear is that Haechan was with the same girl all throughout high school and only went on three or four or five too many failed blind dates during freshman year of college. You would’ve already retreated back to your room with a pack of your roommate’s skittles before he warned Chene not to follow his advice.
Perks of having Chenle as your roommate were right there in the kitchen -- free candy and free eye candy. The expensive rent you pay him was definitely worth it when you found out he was on the same basketball team as Haechan.
It doesn’t matter that Chenle already owned the apartment, but still forces you to pay a little too much so he could afford the organic 100% real meat and vegetables canned food he feeds his puppy. (That walking carpet’s diet was also 100% better than yours, sometimes you were convinced you’d rather have what she was eating.) This was the same Haechan who you’ve had a sort of crush on since being in the same campus tour group summer before freshman year. And whose real name you only found out three semesters after because of an unfortunate event involving the shared bathroom connecting Chenle and your rooms and a very hungover Haechan looking for aspirin. All those hours of training were definitely working.
You could overlook Chenle’s capitalism for the Haechan that you’re convinced you are borderline in love with. (Embarrassing.)
Until he decided that you were his girlfriend.
There is no denying that he is the sweetest boy you’ve ever been with, but all you’ve been doing for the past week was cuddle, go to the park, and cuddle some more before your roommate would kick him out. What happened to having actual conversations? Sweet nothings had nothing on teasing and bantering a.k.a. the superior form of flirting. (That was flirting, right?) Did he forget how to do anything else the same time he forgot that your name wasn't “baby”?
Then there was that nickname. You must admit, it was cute at first, but was it too much to ask that he turned it down every once in a while when things got too cheesy for you to stomach? You almost felt embarrassed for him because of how much he called you that in public.
“Baby, stop running away from me.”
“Baby, stay still, let me take a picture of you with these flowers. You’re just so cute.”
“Baby, stop pouting. I'm going to come back right away after I buy some ice cream.”
Ok, it’s not exactly hearing these things that bothers you. Maybe hearing them even gave you butterflies most of the time. It was what always follows these sentences that diverged from the countless imagined scenarios you’ve already stocked on before he showed any interest in you that makes you just downright queasy.
“Baby, stop running away from me. You wouldn’t want me to hook you up on your leash again.”
“Baby, stay still, let me take a picture of you with these flowers. You’re just so cute. It’ll perfectly fit my petstagram’s aesthetic.”
“Baby, stop giving me those puppy-dog eyes. I'm going to come back right away after I buy some ice cream. Daegal, you know they don’t allow dogs inside.”
Being called someone’s bitch was already degrading enough, but assuming the identity of a literal female dog definitely takes the cake. Why was it that when you finally became your seven-semester-crush’s girlfriend it’s because you switched bodies with the Bichon you didn’t realize he adored this much?
“Chenle would you be mad if I started calling her my girlfriend?” How silly to think that they were talking about you. A real human girl.
“And did you ask my daughter that herself?” The one time your underclass roommate finally stops insisting on claiming that buying you food makes him your father, and you wanted to reclaim the title.
So every time Haechan goes home with him because your apartment had “better water pressure than the gym” he really just wanted to play with the dog? Haechan didn’t really want a girlfriend, he wanted a barking towel to shower with affection and match sweaters with.
But what about all those times he bought you your favorite overpriced doughnuts? Despite what he says about just happening to pass by the store on the way from the gym to your apartment, you knew it definitely took him at least 30 more minutes to get them. And what about all those times he came over to watch tv with Chenle because they didn’t have one in the dorms, and your roommate just happens to be on a pet store run every time? Those times he went to your room to borrow your hairdryer but you end up talking with each other for so long that his hair dries by itself?
Surely that time he took you to eat at the most expensive restaurant two unemployed college students could afford for your birthday was not just some coincidence. He didn’t even bother making up some lame excuse that time. Was it really just to distract you while your friends were preparing for a surprise party back at your apartment?
Did you read too much into his actions? Was thinking that Haechan was nudging you towards somewhere less platonic still just you daydreaming?
“You know Daegal, you’ve been really quiet lately. Usually, your barking would drive Y/N mad.” Haechan points out as he carries you, no, as he carries Daegal (his girlfriend) to a lawn chair while the rest of his friends were too busy killing each other in the pool. There is a faint squeak when he flops down on the chair he dragged across from you. Her? It? Ugh.
“Baby,” he lies on his stomach and props up his elbows as if getting ready to talk to the dog in front of him. “You haven’t said a word since we got here.”
Is he actually waiting for Daegal to reply to him? He must be losing his mind. Heck, you’re losing your mind, and quite honestly your infatuation for this weirdo.
(Oh who were you kidding, he totally looks adorable unconsciously squishing his cheeks as he said those words. You didn’t realize he had this side to him until you switched bodies with Chenle’s puppy. Humiliating... you liked it.)
“I bet if Y/N was here, you’d be scratching at the guest bedroom until she came out to play with you. Sucks that she stayed behind this time, it’s so unlike her not to want to come to Chenle’s family vacation house with everyone else.” Oh?
“Remember how mad she was when Renjun and Jeno won against us in that chicken fight. She looked so cute with her hair all over her face, I couldn’t even take it seriously when she was splashing me with water and blaming my slippery shoulders for losing.” Cute?
“I get why you’re always begging her for attention, I wish it was that easy for me too.” What’s that supposed to mean?
“The first time I tried to ask her out, I stood outside her bedroom door for three hours and still couldn’t do it. If it weren’t for her snoring, I would’ve waited there for a few more hours.” Tried to what?
"Wanna know a secret, I try to act all nonchalant every time she's around because I overheard her say that's the type of guy she likes. On the inside, I'm definitely as ecstatic as you when Chenle accidentally drops food on the floor. Not that she's some food dropped on the -- Why am I trying to explain this to a dog?"
He places your paws on his cheeks. "See? Even talking about her makes me flustered."
He liked you too. Now you're the one blushing. Do dogs even blush? Shit, you almost forgot that you were still in Daegal’s body.
“Hey loser, stop venting to that poor puppy about your pathetic love life,” Renjun shouts from the pool and the rest of the guys snicker.
“Shut up, I don’t see you bringing your girlfriends on this trip. Oh, that’s right, you’re all single.” He sticks his tongue out. Which you of course found charming because even juvenile behavior was attractive if it's Lee Haechan doing them.
“Oh please, you call Daegal your girlfriend,” the blue-haired one chimes in.
“Unlike you Markus, I’ve already gone out on a date with my girl.” He was still talking about you, right? When did he ever take you out on a -- that birthday thing was a date! You’re not delusional after all.
“I’m the least single one here. I just need to ask her to be my girlfriend” You were the only one close enough to hear Haechan say that last part under his breath. “And she needs to agree of course.”
The rest of them refused to acknowledge this accusation.
“Since she didn’t come with us, do you still need my help with cooking when we get back to campus?” Jaemin, who was nowhere to be found until then, scootches you over and sits across Haechan.
“Because she would love the idea of going to a picnic with me to the dog park where every spot could potentially have pee on it.” Yes, Haechan, yes. Suddenly you were very willing to go there again for the nth time that week. Fuck your expectations, all you really want was to finally get to be the one holding his hand and stuff.
“I know you’re extra, but you do know she’s almost as lovestruck with you as you are with her, right? She wouldn’t care.” You barely even saw Jaemin outside of these trips to the vacation house, how did he know that?
“Yeah, casanova, are you scared she’d reject you?” His friends start forming a circle around him like a bunch of middle-aged women waiting for the head auntie to spill the latest drama about their rich neighbors.
“As if,” he brushes it off. “I’m way too charming to get rejected.”
“Yeah right, I tried using your flirting tips on my econ seatmate, and let’s just say I had to sit on the other side of the classroom after that.” Haechan puts a hand over his chest and gasps too loudly. “Dude, you kinda suck.” Chenle summarizes as if his insult wasn’t clear enough.
“But still, she does always refill her water bottle way too often since you started coming over after practice.” Did everyone know about your crush?
"I get it Chenle, she's dehydrated and she's thirsty for," he smirks and gestures to the still slightly wet shirt clinging to his body. "This.”
Gross? Or grossly accurate?
“Call Y/N right now and ask her to be your girlfriend then.” Chenle pats your head. “Daegal, bark if you think he should do it.”
Oh you definitely agree to both those statements, but barking was the only thing that was keeping you from going full-on dog so there's no way you're just gonna--
"Daegal, now you choose to be noisy again?" Ah shit.
Disgusting, are you seriously throwing away your dignity (and humanity) for some guy? What has become of you?
"Fine, but I'm not asking her out on the phone, ok? I want to ask her face to face. And you have to let me use your kitchen for that thing we talked about.”
Disgustingly charmed and smitten and infatuated and whatever other emotions one goes through before finally falling in love, that’s what you are.
“You too baby, as my fake girlfriend, you have to help me ask Y/N to be my real girlfriend." Oh right.
"Come on Daegal, I need to feed you now.” Your roommate effortlessly scoops you up.” Say bye-bye to your older sister’s future boyfriend.”
Fuck. You were still a dog. You can't be Hacehan's bitch if you're an actual bitch.
.
.
.
Daegal in Y/N's body's POV:
Damn, this bitch doesn’t have a life outside boys and school. One second with her friends and they’re already asking if Haechan has already asked her out. She is aware that she and loverboy have already been on multiple dates, right? If being a human is this boring and exhausting and makes you this stupid, I can’t wait for them to come back so I could get my life back.
A/N: Idek what this is, but hope you enjoyed reading it hehe. I wasn't going to post this but it's Haechan's bday so why not. Just to be clear, this is not furry behavior and I am *not* a furry =D
oh mr. lee, will you teach me how to french kiss?
pairing | lee donghyuck x reader (female)
genre | fluff, humor, high school!au, friends-to-lovers!au
synopsis | when you break up with your boyfriend after finding out you don’t know how to french kiss, your best friend offers a rather tempting offer.
warnings | swearing, suggestive (one heated makeout), some sexual innuendos/jokes, mentions of insecurities
word count | 10.6k
notes from vee | here it is! i spent most of this month working on this fic completely out of nowhere, it was unplanned but i’m generally happy with how it turned out (this is also the longest fic i’ve posted on here…please don’t be scared by the length). also i thought that i would add the fact that y/n calls hyuck ‘mr. lee’ (as a joke) sometimes, which is where the title comes from. and just a fair warning that donghyuck and y/n are legitimately the only characters in this entire fic, though others are mentioned often. and here’s a visual representation of bff!hyuck. enjoy and please leave feedback!! <3
“So you’re telling me that you’ve never kissed someone before.”
You sigh deeply at Donghyuck’s voice deadpanning over the phone, thinking it was socially acceptable to throw yourself at him for trying to undermine you. But talking to your best friend merely four hours before school starts isn’t the smoothest move, but you can’t help but voice out the thoughts that were nagging at you the entire day and night. Letting your best friend know about your smooching situations is worse, considering the slander you’re currently facing, and you’re slowly starting to regret even talking to him in the first place.
“Oh shut up,” you mutter back, making yourself comfortable in your bed. Tossing to your side, you hold the microphone end of your phone to your mouth. “And did you even listen? I didn’t say I’ve never kissed anyone before, I just said I haven’t—”
“—kissed anyone,” he finishes with a snarky laugh, one that you’re familiar with from the day he mentioned to the entire classroom that you two finished each other’s sentences. “A kiss without tongue is literally not a kiss, Y/N, I thought everyone knew this.”

Sunflowers | Lee Haechan
soulmate au
pairing: haechan x reader
warnings: character death, hanahaki disease, mentions of blood, one sided love, angst
word count: 1.8k
genre: angst
sypnosis: When you find your soulmate everything falls into place and you're guaranteed a happy ever after....right?
You feel the familiar feeling rise in your chest. The burning sensation in your throat becomes stronger and stronger. It has already been months since it started but you still can't get used to it.
You excuse yourself and run to the bathroom. Each step feels heavier as the pain becomes unbearable from trying to hold in your cough.
As soon as you step into the bathroom you let everything out. The petals keep coming and you feel like you'll pass out any minute.
Much to your horror, the usual bright yellow coloured petals are a deep shade of red this time. Only by the little specks peeking through here and there you can tell that they are sunflowers.
The first few weeks you were fine. But as the weeks turned into months you started to become weaker. And it became much harder to hide.
You would expect that in a world where your significant other was decided for you before you were even born, everything would be easy. As most people would even dedicate their whole life to finding their soulmate.
You too had always dreamed about bonding with your special someone. And unexpectedly that day came when you met Haechan.
The moment you locked eyes everything seemed to fall into place. As if the world around you seemed to move in slow motion. And he was the center of it all.
The more time you spent with him, the more sure you were. It felt different when you were together. It felt like you have known each other forever. He’d understand you and you would too.
The way he looked at you, you could have sworn he felt it too. That he knew what was going on inside of your head. So you finally ask him.
“Do you believe in soulmates?”
You feel the butterflies go wild in your stomach waiting for his answer.
“No,” he says.
“I don’t think everyone in our world is meant to have one. And I believe that I’m one of them, I think it's an idea created by people who seek fulfillment in others. But I don't think you need anyone for that” he states.
You bite back the confession lying on the tip of your tongue as his indirect rejection hits you hard. That's when the butterflies turn into a sharp pain and it becomes harder to breathe.
That was the day it all started. The first time you had coughed up flowers. The first time you understood what was happening to you.
You've always believed that if something was meant for you, one way or another it would come to you.
So you held on to the hope you had. But as time went on, you started to doubt that. Because while you became sicker by the day. He started developing feelings for someone else.
At first, she was just the new girl in town. But once she started working at the same place as Hachan, they became closer as ever. And it started going downhill from there. They started hanging out more and you started seeing Haechan less.
You even noticed how the way Haechan looked at you changed. He was still there for you whenever you needed him. But you saw how the spark in his eyes was only reserved for her.
The knock on the door brings you back from your thoughts. You see your hands covered in your blood and the floor around you is filled with sunflowers.
Standing up you look at yourself in the mirror and see blood covering your whole mouth while a few petals stick to your chin. And that's the first time in your life you feel pity towards yourself.
You know that your life is on the line but you don't even know how much time you have left. Small tears start to fall silently as if they emphasize with you.
For a moment you let yourself cry, allowing your pain to ease.
But that doesn't last long when you hear another knock on the door. Pulling yourself together you clean up everything and decide to go to the one place you felt at peace.
-
"You're here once again," Haechan says as he sits down next to you.
"I wanted some fresh air," you tell him.
He looks at you with a worried expression and asks "Are you alright? Something seems off with you these days."
You look back at him and a million things come to your mind. Everything you want to say to him lays on the tip of your tongue once again.
But when the image of him looking at her flashes your mind. Nothing comes out of you. All of it shatters into a million pieces.
So you just put on a fake smile and lie to him.
"It was getting too hot inside which made my head dizzy, But I'm okay now."
"Alright, but tell me if something is up, okay? We're best friends, I have to know," he tells you while smiling back at you.
You nod at him and stare into the void as his words keep repeating inside of your head. "We're best friends, we're best friends, we're best friends..." as if they're mocking you and your pitiful situation.
"Do you like sunflowers that much? I keep finding you here," he asks as he looks to the field in front of you.
The question breaks you more than you imagined.
After a moment of silence when you feel like your voice is stable enough again, you answer him.
"Yes, I do."
"Why?" he asks again.
"Because I'm envious of them," you tell him.
He gives you a confused look and you laugh at him as he furrows his brows and tries to think of why you would be.
"I'm envious of them because they follow their sun across the sky as their sun shines back at them. And every single day he comes back to do the same." You explain to him.
"That's a beautiful way of looking at them. Although I'm not sure about the being envious part" he laughs.
"They are my favourite too."
You didn't have the heart to tell him that you already knew that.
"My grandparents had a field just like this one. We would always pick the seeds together but I was too small to reach the top. So my granddad made me this small ladder with a bucket attached to it. I would always be the last one to finish because I couldn't pick them as fast as everyone else. But my granny always waited for me without saying anything, even though she was tired from working all day." he reminisces with a smile on his face.
"You would have been so cute trying to reach them with your small hands," you say.
"Of course I was! I have always been cute" he says proudly.
Which makes you laugh even if you roll your eyes at him.
But the cute moment doesn't last long as his phone starts ringing. You see how his eyes shine when her name appears on the screen. And you feel your throat burning again.
"I have to go, they're waiting for me," he tells you. "It's okay, I had plans too" you lie again.
You wait until he is out of sight and start coughing once again. But this time you don't see any specks of yellow anymore.
-
Comforting yourself with the thought that at least Haechan is happy even if it isn't with you, you decide to write him a letter. Pouring all of your feelings into it so you won't have any regrets when you leave.
The more time Haechan spends with her, he starts to rethink his stance on soulmates. Because when he is with her, he feels like his soul is at peace.
So he decides to tell her. But when the words come out of his mouth, they leave a very unpleasant taste in his mouth.
You drop your pen on the desk as you feel the string that is connected to your heart is cut off, and you finally let go.
You close your eyes as your head falls onto your desk that is filled with beautiful sunflowers covered in blood and the letter addressed to Haechan.
When Haechan gets a call about you, his head starts to spin as his vision blurs and the unpleasant taste comes back.
On the day of your funeral, he stays with you even if everyone else has left. Still not being able to accept that you're gone, he blames himself for not being there for you.
A fresh set of tears roll down his face as he remembers your face that showed all the signs that something was wrong.
"She wanted you to have this," your brother says as he gives Haechan the letter you wrote.
For a while, he only stares at his name on the envelope written in your handwriting. Then he opens it and starts to read.
He feels a pain in his chest he's never felt before. As if someone has cut off a piece of his heart.
"My dear sunshine,
I always thought that I would get to tell you all of this myself one day sooner or later. Or maybe I just hoped for it, because somewhere in the back of my mind I did know that day would never come. Especially after I saw how happy you were.
I don't seem to have much time, a couple of months ago I discovered that I have the disease. And every day it becomes harder to breathe.
But I want you to know that you made me happy too, very happy. The day we met I got the feeling that everyone always told me about. The one we grew up hearing about. The one you feel when you finally meet your soulmate.
I admit, you not feeling the same way broke my heart. I always thought that from that moment on I would never experience pain again. But life doesn't always go as you think.
But I don't blame you for anything and I don't want you to blame yourself either. Because you taught me a lot and made even the dull moments beautiful. For that, I will always be thankful.
Thank you for being my soulmate Haechan.
Let's meet each other on the other side of the stars, maybe there is another chance waiting for us there."
The letter falls out of his hand. And everything starts to make sense.
The way you would call him your sun, the conversation you had that day, the flowers, your expression when he started talking about her, and why you seemed so off.
Everything became so clear now.
He starts to sob uncontrollably while he falls onto his knees. His lungs begin to burn and he starts coughing.
That's when he sees brightly yellow coloured petals all around him.

I thought would you be so kind was sad. This broke my heart especially since Haechan is my bias. Even when I was reading Would You Be So Kind, I could feel that Haechan loved sweetheart. This was nice add on to an already wonderful story even if Haechan suffered from second lead syndrome.

haechan (lee donghyuck) as a boyfriend.
listen to ‘get you’ by daniel caesar feat. kali uchis
「 confession 」
hyuck has been in love with you for as long as he could remember. you met in first grade, when your family moved into his neighborhood in the middle of the school year. you were such a shy six year old and it felt like everyone had already decided who their best friends were. you might have been completely miserable if it weren’t for haechan.
he was in your class at school and lived right around the block from you, so you saw a lot of each other. hyuck thought you were adorable to be honest, but he couldn’t let you know that, so he made fun of you constantly. despite his teasing words, the two of you were inseparable and all of your teachers cooed over how adorable your friendship was.
despite how sweet he was to you normally, sticking up for you against the other kids and sharing his chocolate milk with you at lunch, haechan could be a little possessive of you when it came to the other students.
he was bossy sometimes, grabbing your hand and tugging you away from jeno (who had only wanted to show you the centipede he found) with the cutest pout on his face.
“what did you do that for?” you punched him in the arm once he had successfully dragged you over to the swings.
“centipedes are dangerous, y/n,” haechan informed you seriously, finally dropping your hand as a pink blush spread across the apples of his cheeks. “they’re poisonous. everyone knows that, idiot.”
your face fell, the happy smile on your face deflating like a balloon. when jeno had called you over you had been so excited to finally be making friends, but now you just felt stupid and small.
seeing you look so dejected was more than haechan’s seven year old heart could take. he felt sick with guilt, because he knew how hard you had been trying to make friends and really that’s all jeno had been trying to do. he opened his mouth to apologize but then your teacher started yelling at everyone to come inside and you immediately took the opportunity to run away from him. that had never happened before. haechan swallowed, blinking back tears before slowly following you inside.
most of the time, your parents liked to carpool with haechan’s, so your mom would take the two of you to school and his would pick you up. but today she was working late, which meant you had to take the bus.
you were always ready to leave before haechan, but you liked walking with him so usually you waited, humming to yourself absentmindedly and occasionally blowing a stray strand of hair out of your eyes. today you left as soon as the bell rang, walking sandwiched in between two other students in your class, jaemin and ryujin.
haechan felt a bubble of sadness press down on his chest when he noticed you leave without him and he had to take a few seconds to try not to cry. the two of you had never been in a fight before and he didn’t know how to fix it, no matter how desperately he wanted to.
jaemin and ryujin were both being picked up from school by their parents, so you had to say goodbye to them as soon as you reached the bus loop. standing by yourself, it hit you how weird this felt without haechan. it hadn’t even been a full two hours since he said those mean things to you, but you missed him.
“y/n?”
hyuck’s voice made you turn around and you had to stop yourself from smiling brightly like you usually did whenever he said your name. his gaze was focused on his shoes as he walked towards you, but he glanced up quickly at you when he reached you.
“hi,” you said softly, resisting the urge to hug the sad look off of your best friend’s face.
“i’m sorry—,” you both said at the same time and stopped. haechan looked at you incredulously.
“you’re sorry? for what? i was the one who was mean.”
“i know,” you looked away from him, fingers finding the end of one of your backpack straps and tugging at it. “but i’m still sorry i didn’t wait for you. i always do.”
hyuck shook his head, amazed. “you don’t need to be sorry, y/n. i should never have called you an idiot. i didn’t mean it.”
“then why did you say it?” your voice was as small as you felt, despite the relief washing over you at his apology.
“i was jealous,” haechan admitted, turning his gaze towards the second wave of buses starting to arrive as the first ones pulled away. “i didn’t want you to like jeno more than me.”
“i think you’re the idiot, not me,” you laughed softly, poking hyuck’s cheek. “why would you ever think that?”
“i don’t know,” haechan tried not to smile and failed completely as he pushed your finger away. “i just really like you a lot and i guess sometimes my mouth says things before i think them through.”
“you like me?” you repeated, eyes wide. haechan blushed red this time, glancing at you quickly before he turned back to the buses.
“we have a bus to catch!” he said loudly, hiking his backpack further up on his back and grabbing your hand to pull you towards the right one, but he was stopped by your giggle and the feeling of your lips pressed against his cheek.
“i like you too, haechannie.”
「 one of your favorite dates 」
nights like these, when you had absolutely nothing to do except hold hyuck’s hand and laugh and eat popcorn, were your favorite.
it was the middle of july, which meant (1) that everything felt sticky and horrible most of the time and (2) you and hyuck rarely went out anymore before five p.m.
every summer you found something new to obsess over and haechan always loved and dreaded finding out what it was. last summer it was baking (hyuck didn’t mind that one). this summer it was drive in movies. you just loved the way they made you feel, like you were in some old timey audrey hepburn movie.
haechan found a spot near the back, far enough away from everyone else that you had some privacy, but still close enough to see the movie. speaking of audrey hepburn, tonight they were playing roman holiday, which was probably one of the best movies ever made if anyone asked you.
“they didn’t have cajun seasoned, so i just got the regular kind,” hyuck passed the bag through the open window of his car before pushing open the door on the driver’s side and sliding in next to you.
“the regular kind?” you repeated, pouting at the boring yellow peeking out of the top of the bag. “wow. get out of the car. you can watch this movie on the ground.”
“shut up and eat the popcorn, you brat,” hyuck reached over to slap your leg, making you squeak in surprise. he bit back the smile that threatened to spread across his face. “so high maintenance. you’re lucky you’re cute.”
“you think i’m cute?” you perked up, grinning when he rolled his eyes at you.
“really? that’s what you got out of that?”
“you think i’m cute,” it wasn’t a question this time. you smirked at him, poking his cheek as he failed to keep the smile off of his face.
“you’re so annoying,” he grabbed your hand as it hovered near his face, linking your fingers easily. “why am i dating you?”
“because i’m cute, remember?”
「 skinship 」
“i promise i didn’t mean it!” haechan pouts, tugging on your sleeve. “c’mon, y/n, don’t be mad at me.”
“why do you have to be the way that you are?” you glare at your boyfriend, jerking your arm away from him. “how many times did i tell you that i was saving that cheesecake? like a million?”
“i said i was sorry,” hyuck bites back a smile. you’re just too cute. “i’ll get you another piece, i swear.”
“i hate you,” you crossed your arms, tugging your blanket tighter around your upper body and pulling your legs up to your chest. “don’t touch me.”
“y/n,” hyuck frowned, all traces of his former smile gone now. “i really am sorry. i guess i just forgot.”
you didn’t answer him and he whined, fingers tugging at the hem of your shorts. “please talk to me. how can i make this better?”
“really?” you felt a grinch-like smile unfurl across your face. “you’d do anything?”
“what kind of ice cream?” haechan sighed, smacking your leg gently.
“chocolate chip, please!” you smirked at him as he glared at you, leaning over to kiss your cheeks before he pushed himself off the couch to grab his coat, almost running back to tickle away the smirk he knew was on your face when you shouted at him, “and don’t forget the sprinkles!”

The vibration of your phone slowly lures you out of your dream and you groan against your pillow. As it begins to ring, playing a song that you used to love but now grown to hate, your husband, Lee Donghyuck stirs on the other side of the bed.
“Turn it off,” he moans, voice husky and heavy with sleep. Sinking back into his pillow and pulling his bedcover up until it reaches his ear, he grumbles, “I hate that song.”
“It’s our wedding song. That you chose for our first dance.”
“Yeah, now it’s our alarm song and I hate it. Turn it off.”
“I’m trying.” After blindly reaching for your phone from underneath your pillow, you switched it off with a flick of your thumb. It was tempting to close your eyes again but your work starts in half an hour and with Donghyuck as your husband, you need to get up now or you’ll be late for sure.
Donghyuck turns around to meet your gaze, lying on his side with the bottom half of his face concealed by the blanket he shared with you.
“You’re pretty,” he murmured with droopy eyes.
“Can’t say the same about you,” you teased him, snuggling closer. “Your bed hair is—”
Donghyuck abruptly pushes you down, now settling himself on top of you with his knees placed on each side of your hips. “Let me help,” he says, eyes twinkling in mischief. “The word you’re looking for is cute.” You smiled into the kiss, your fingers naturally find their way to the silver necklace that dangles from his neck, but when he parts his lips to deepen the kiss—
“Eew, morning breath!” You smack your palm against his face. “Brush your—what are you doing?”
Donghyuck is now grinding his teeth against the skin of your neck, his hands slipping underneath your shirt, pressing flat against your stomach. He’s so warm—he’s always warm—and every touch he paints on your skin is both comforting and provoking.
Before long, his hands find their way to your breasts, cupping each one fully with his palm. “Good morning, girls,” he giggles, squeezing them without permission and you exaggeratedly roll your eyes, faking annoyance when in fact, you find him to be disgustingly cute whenever he does that.
“Hyuck.”
“Hmm?”
You try not to make any encouraging noises when he drags his hand down to your thigh, urging you to wrap your legs around his waist. “Hyuck…” Your protest turns weak when you feel his mouth peppering open-mouthed kisses down your neck, his tongue tasting your skin. “We have to get ready for work.”
He hums, pressing his hips down to meet yours. “Just give me ten minutes.”

summary: you make a new friend at a dinner party that your family is attending. there is much in common between the two of you: you love eating biscuits, you love dancing, you love pretending to be stiff-lipped adults when you don’t have a care in the world.
a/n: this was originally a timestamp but then it ended up being really long and well... guess it’s a fic now :’)
“For you, my lady.” Young Donghyuck pretends to bow the way he has been taught, and he holds out a flower to you that looks suspiciously similar to the ones in the planters.
Your response is a “thank you, kind sir” that is stifled by your hands as you accept his gift, giggling as he hands it to you. You spin and your intricate lace dress flares out around you, and Donghyuck laughs when you almost fall over.
The dinner party you both are at is being hosted by a mutual friend of your families. Though this does not mean that your families are on completely good terms with one another, tonight they have at least been able to maintain a sort of cordiality while in each others’ presence.
Donghyuck and you have never met before, not until he noticed you struggling to reach a biscuit from the light snacks table, when he decided that he would help you. His first instinct had been to tell you that your pale pink dress and matching pale pink bow looked nice — it was his go-to at events like this, where there were many people to please and he had to be polite. But when you had turned to him with eyes shining and a cute “thank you”, the words had died in the back of his throat, and all he could do was stammer out a “yes”.
You learned that he was seven years old, like you, and he learned that this was not your first social event, like him. You both had older brothers (Donghyuck had pointed out one of his, Taeyong, from across the room), you both preferred chocolate wafers over vanilla, and you both liked to look at huge chandeliers while standing right underneath them (and every time you did this, your brother Doyoung would come and scoop you up to get you out of the way, as if he was scared it would fall on you).
And, with so many things in common, you wonder why you and Donghyuck have never even seen each other before.
For the time being, you two had been able to escape the watchful eyes of your parents and older brothers. Donghyuck had found the upper corridor and you had followed him eagerly, wanting to get away from the adults. Adults were boring. So was Doyoung, and although you loved him dearly, he could be quite irritable sometimes (especially at fancy parties, where you both were expected to be on your best behavior). It was more difficult for you, since you were never to speak unless spoken to. Until you had met your new friend, you had never talked so much in one night.
“My lady, may I have this dance?” Donghyuck doesn't know how to spin you, so he simply holds up his arm in hopes that you'll spin underneath it by yourself.
“That’s not how you dance, silly!” You twirl and return to your position, with your hands on his shoulders and his hands clutching your dress. (He would never say it out loud, but he's too nervous to touch your waist.)
“It’s an original style,” he says, making you throw your head back as you laugh.
Donghyuck smiles, and once the music downstairs finishes, he touches his lips to the back of your hand just like all the adults do, because that’s what you’re supposed to do when a dance is over.
It’s meant to be lighthearted but to his surprise, you don’t make fun of it. Instead, you blink at him with wide eyes, giggling shyly as you cover your mouth with your tiny hands.
And Hyuck feels strange, some sort of heat blooming across his cheeks as he laughs, kicking a stray pebble that skids on the tiled floor in order to avoid looking you in the eyes.
“Oh —” Your startled tone makes him look up, and he sees that you’re holding your baby-pink ribbon in your hands. It must have come undone while you were dancing. You nervously twist the thin string around your fingers as you make your way over to him. “Um... do you think you could tie it for me? I can’t do it by myself.”
Donghyuck has never even touched a hair ribbon, let alone attempted to tie one. He knows how to make knots, but they aren’t pretty like the way you had the bow in your hair earlier. Not knowing how to start, he simply stands behind you, and after a moment of feeling nothing in your hair, you turn around.
“What’s wrong, Hyuck?”
“I... don’t know how,” he admits. “I’ve never tied a ribbon before.”
“Oh. Well, you should have it, then.” You hold the string out to your friend. “So you can practice!”
“But don’t you need it?”
“We have lots at home! You should keep it instead. Here —” You take his hand and loop the ribbon around his index finger. “I’ll show you.”
“You take the ends and tie a knot,” you begin, “and then you make a circle with one side, and then wrap the other one around the bottom, and then you push this part through.” You carefully tug the ends of the bow into a neat finish, and Donghyuck wonders how you did it so perfectly. He wiggles his index finger to see the ends move, making you smile. “And now you know how to tie it!”
He seems to have a sudden idea and takes your hand in his, pulling you behind him. “Let’s go!”
“Go where?”
“Exploring!”
As he rounds the corner with you, Donghyuck smacks straight into someone else.
“Oh, sor—” He looks up to see who the stranger is, and is met by Doyoung’s harsh glare. “—ry...”
Doyoung cocks his head to see you standing behind the boy, and his expression is surprisingly unreadable. He’s eleven, meaning that you don’t understand anything he does anymore.
“Doie!” you begin excitedly. “This is Donghyuck Lee! He helped me reach the —”
In one swift move, your hand is separated from your friend’s, and you are pulled behind your brother.
“I know who he is,” he says coldly. And to Donghyuck: “Stay away from my sister.”
You protest, trying to grab his arm. “What? But —”
“No.” Shaking you off, Doyoung walks over to your friend, towering above the younger boy in height. “Don’t even think about talking to her again,” he says, jabbing a finger at Hyuck to emphasize his point. “If I catch you looking at her, I’m going to... I’m going to push you!”
“Doie, please!” You stomp on the floor, frustrated. “He’s nice!”
Doyoung walks back over to you and says, “We don’t talk to people —” He lowers his voice. “— like him.”
“Donghyuck!”
From the other end of the corridor, Hyuck’s brother, Taeyong, runs towards the three of you, his dress shoes clacking on the tiles.
“There you are...” And, upon noticing you and Doyoung, he adds, “What are you doing here?”
“Your brother,” Doyoung says, “tried to hurt my sister.”
“That’s not true!” your friend says, but his words work against him.
Taeyong scoffs, crossing his arms. “Oh, please. Tell your stupid sister to stop messing with Donghyuck, then.”
Doyoung gasps, angrily stepping forward. “(Name) is not stupid! And she didn’t do anything!”
“I’m twelve years old. That’s one year older than you, so you can’t tell me what to think.”
“If I ever see him trying to be around her, there will be trouble.”
“Donghyuck would never actually try to be around someone like her.”
“Fine. You believe that. Let’s go, (Name),” he says at last. “And get rid of this ridiculous thing you’re holding.”
Donghyuck’s flower, which had been clutched tightly in your hand for the past few minutes, is suddenly plucked from your grasp and thrown onto the hallway floor. Doyoung prevents you from picking it up, and he takes your wrist and forces you to follow him.
“But Doie —” You cast a glance at your friend. Taeyong has grabbed his brother’s shoulders to prevent him from moving.
“We’re leaving, (Name). I’m telling Mother.” He then notices at the lack of color on the back of your head. “Tsk, and you’ve lost your bow, how irresponsible...”
Donghyuck sees your upset expression as your brother pulls you away, your hand desperately reaching out towards your friend’s. Your eyes plead with him to reach back, but he feels Taeyong’s vice grip on his collar and knows that he shouldn’t. He stays rooted to where he is standing, swallowing as he merely watches.
And you are led out of sight, out of the corridor and into the main building, down the stairs and back to the prim and proper behavior that is expected of you.
“Donghyuck,” Taeyong says, finally releasing him. “Come on.” He walks down the hallway, and the flower the boy had given you earlier is squashed underneath his brother’s pristine shoes. After one last look at the hallway down which you had disappeared, he obeys.
Your pink ribbon flutters in the night breeze, tethered to Donghyuck’s first finger. It’s all he has left of you from tonight, because you, briefly gracing him with your presence, were never to see him again.
[12:25 pm]
you’ve been avoiding making eye contact with donghyuck through the mirror for the past half minute or so, pretending to busy yourself with brushing your teeth. the morning (afternoon?) has been slow, with you waking up first and him complaining when you laid across his stomach. now that you’re standing in the bathroom, you can see how you’re both sporting equally chaotic bed hair, and you try to ignore the pillow marks on your cheek.
for a split second, your eyes dart to donghyuck’s face, and he chooses that moment to wiggle his eyebrows at you—a great combination with his lopsided glasses and the toothbrush sticking out of his mouth.
you choke on your toothpaste, sputtering into the sink as you hear him laughing behind you. “you’re gonna regret that, hyuck.”
he merely smirks in response, gesturing to the toothpaste dripping down your chin. you quickly wash it off, cleaning your toothbrush and finishing your time at the sink with a flick of the wrist in his direction. he jumps, water droplets sticking to the lenses of his glasses, and he narrows his eyes at you.
you’re in for it.
he spits into the sink, and, ignoring the fact that you’ve started fixing your hair, he scoops you up, runs back to his room, and tosses you onto the bed.
“hey—!” your sentence is cut off as donghyuck sits on you, effectively preventing you from going anywhere. a devilish smile plays on his face as he leans down next to your ear and whispers,
“are you ticklish?”
[1:15 am]
plink. there’s a pause. plink. followed by another three in rapid succession.
annoyed, you shove your chair back from your computer and turn on the balcony lights. if this is an awful prank some kids are playing, they’re about to get a piece of your mind. how dare they, when you have important procrastinating to do?
you unlock the glass door and step outside. “go away!” you shout, ready to return to the comfort of your room.
“you’re so mean,” a voice from down below says.
you rush to the edge, gripping the hand rail out of disbelief. “donghyuck?”
“don’t call me that, please,” your best friend groans. “it’s hae—”
“i’ll call you whatever i like,” you huff, crossing your arms. “why are you throwing rocks at my door? never mind that, why are you here?”
“oh, those weren’t rocks,” he says calmly. he’s wearing a t-shirt and pajama pants, completely harmless, and you see that he’s holding something, though the light from your balcony isn’t strong enough for you to tell what it is.
“shut up and answer my question!”
“i wanted to give you some of my starbursts!” he shakes the bag, the candies jumbling inside. “and i was in the area!”
you check to see whether he’s telling the truth, and sure enough, you see five unopened starbursts on the floor behind you: three pink, two red. how kind of him to throw your favorite flavors at your window while you’re trying to focus on rewatching ratatouille.
“see? i’m a good friend, aren’t i?” donghyuck gives you one of his trademark smirks and tilts his head to the side. “now where’s my thank you? i brought you food.”
“where’s the catch?” you ask, not missing a beat. (the fact that you’re asking this out of habit and not curiosity just goes to show the tragedy of having a demon child for a best friend.)
“the catch? you insult me, (name).” he tucks the bag of candy under his arm and stands stiffly. he’s cold, you realize. “what would i tell you to do in return, show up at my house tomorrow night? it’s not like there’s much to do.” the obvious follow-up hangs awkwardly in the air. are you ever going to invite me into your house?
“well i, um. it’s cold out here…” the words in your mouth are mixed together and you have trouble spitting them out. jerking a thumb over your shoulder, you try your best to not royally mess this up. “ratatouille is on, and if you wanna watch it with me—”
“hell yeah.” he moves towards one of the pillars supporting the balcony (as if he’s about to climb it? yeah, no way).
“no. you’re coming through the front door.”
“but where’s the fun in that?”
“do you want to watch ratatouille or not? wait here.” you turn and collect the candies on the floor, heading back inside and hurrying down the stairs.
you open the front door and lo and behold, he’s standing there with a family size pack of original starbursts. “i can’t believe you’re here this late,” you grumble.
“i can’t believe you’re making me wait for you to let me in.”
you step aside, rolling your eyes. “this was a lame way of asking if we could hang out.”
“you’re lame.”
“you’re an idiot.”
“please, you know you love me.”
at his comment, your ears grow warm. you’re glad he’s already passed you on the way to the stairs, because at least he can’t see your face right now. yeah, maybe i do.

you watch your bestfriend!haechan in admiration as he devotes all his attention to the screen in front of him, flashing lights onto his face, making his eyes beam. slightly behind him so he wouldn’t notice you staring, you prop your head up by holding your cheek against your palm, leaning against the coffee table that stayed level to your shoulder, as the two of you were sitting on the floor. you thought he looked cute with one ear uncovered by his headphones. why did he look so cute? you weren’t completely unaware of your feelings. you knew you liked haechan…you just couldn’t admit it. you loved the nights you stayed at his house for a little while after you worked on projects together before your parents came to pick you up. gaze still fixed towards the screen, haechan breaks the silence.
“y/n.”
“mhm?”
“when are you gonna stop staring at me?”
being caught off-guard, you swallow.
“oh…well i”
“keep doing it.”
your eyebrows raise and your lips form a slight pout.
haechan realized what he just said.
“i mean keep looking at me like a creep you weirdo, I dare you.” he scoffs in attempt to recover himself.
you lowered your head a little in embarrassment, rubbing the nape of your neck harshly. conveniently, the room was dark, but you were a blushing mess. it went quiet again, only slightly hearing muffled fighting sound effects through haechan’s headphones that the volume was way too high on, and the click-clack of haechan spamming all the buttons on his controller. now you and haechan were leaning against the coffee table, side by side. all the bright lights really tired your eyes out, so you shut them, resting your head onto your knees. now you were rolled into a ball. haechan made fun of you then instead he moved your head onto his shoulder. you can feel haechan’s rapid pulse. He awkwardly clears his throat. “psh. see, now you don’t look ridiculous.. ahh y/n, what am i gonna do with you… better yet, what would you do without me?” he irritably shakes his head as he prides himself playfully.
“i don’t know.” you muttered.
“you don’t know what?”
“i don’t know what i would do without you hyuck.”
haechan flicks your forehead but you were too tired to react.
“i think im in love with you haechan.” you mumbled half asleep into haechan’s shoulder.
haechan’s heart was pounding.
“get off! you’re drooling on my favorite shirt!”
you were shaken off haechan’s shoulder, and now you two were staring at each other. haechan staring more thoughtfully, while you just kind of sat there obliviously. you had no idea what was happening, all you knew was that you were with haechan, and you really, really liked him. your lips curled into a smile and once again you confessed. “i really like you haechan.” you giggled. but that’s what brought you to your senses. you realized what just happened and haechan noticed the panic starting to set in. but before you could even think straight, haechan leaned in and placed a kiss on your forehead, the same place he flicked you a second ago, ironically enough. he followed that by saying “well that’s too bad… because i don’t like you at all.” you knew he was teasing you, so you attempted to scowl through your forming smile and red cheeks, and when you tried to stand up, haechan pulled you back to him. he pinched your cheek. “…cute.” but then the moment was ruined. “geez what happened to your face? you look like a tomato with a severe skin condition, you’re so red.” haechan teased. “you are too.” you talked back, and pushed haechan over. you broke into a fit of laughter, while haechan tried so hard to keep a smile from forming on his face. it all made a little too much sense. you’ve known haechan all throughout your childhood but recently you’ve laughed a little harder at his jokes, you’ve noticed you twirl your hair and twiddle your thumbs around him. it’s actually really weird, so you wish it didn’t feel as right as it did, but you just can’t help it. you cant help but love lee donghyuck.

you made your usual stop at the cafe on your way to work. pleasantly not-surprised to see him behind the counter. it all started when you needed a gift for your co-worker’s birthday, conveniently coming across the cafe that very morning on your way to work.
you walked inside to see a cute boy around your age working in the back. when asked your order, you almost blatantly asked who that boy was. but you simply asked for one of those little biscuits shaped like bears, pointing to the one on display in the glass cabinet, lit with yellow light. “that might be a little while, if you don’t mind the wait.” the man said to you. “sure, that’s alright.” truthfully, you didn’t have much time. but you wanted to get a better look at the boy. “you can go ahead and have a seat, we’ll call you when it’s ready... and haechan, get started on the biscuits.”
and so you sat, focusing on the boy who must be haechan, as he was the only other person there, with the cafe just barely being opened for the day. you don’t even drink coffee, but ever since that day a couple months ago, you’ve stopped by that cafe nearly every morning. it used to be right on your way to work, but you’ve since been fired. now in recent mornings you find yourself going out of your way to make the stop, yet still, you do so.
you cherish the bits of information you exchange with haechan in the small talk you share, as you’re usually the only one there with him first thing in the morning. it’s gotten to the point where haechan has your order memorized and already ready before you get there, but you still stay to talk to him regardless.
you wish you could get to know him more. but little did you know, haechan has been putting bits and pieces together about you. he’s picked up on some of your small habits, like how you always put your bag on the table first before sitting down, and how you instinctively check where your name was written on the box your order came in to see if it was spelled right. haechan wants to know you more too.
the reason he started to prepare your order before you got there was to test whether or not you would still stay to talk to him. and from your little conversations, he knows you got fired from that job, about you going out of your way, and how you don’t even like coffee. leading him to assume that perhaps, maybe you come there every morning for him. maybe it was bold of him to assume, but even so, it gave him the confidence to take a step closer to you.
it was another morning. nothing new. haechan handed you your box and naturally you look for the little line that held a place for your name. there was a bit of a surprise this time though. i mean, you name was on it, however it was followed by a question. “y/n, can i please have your number??”
you looked over to haechan who was staring at you, leaning against the counter with his elbows, resting is head in his hand with a big smile on his face. he tapped a little notepad with his finger and gently pushed it across the counter, away from him, and closer to you. you picked up the conveniently placed notepad and pen and proceeded to write down the digits to your phone number. “here.” you set down the notepad. “im gonna be late for work.” you speed walked out of the cafe before haechan could say anything else.
later that day~

now you really understand why they call haechan a bear. holding him close to you, heart fluttering at the feeling of his chest against yours. you could stay like this for hours, and you did, but with your legs getting tired of standing. so now on the couch, you stay holding onto him, only subtly changing your position to wrap your arms around his waist and under his arms from the back. resting your chin on top of his shoulder to press your cheek up against his. you sit behind him, a little squished in the limited space there was between haechan and the couch. you pulled haechan back with you as you leaned your back against the arm of the couch, haechan shifting slightly to the side of you to relieve the pressure off your chest. but still, you held haechan in your arms, just like you would a teddy bear.
haechan was your teddy bear. ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ♡

“yn are you still awake?”
too tired to think, you don’t respond.
“ynnnnnnn why do you always fall asleep on calls?” haechan whined
you let haechan fall under the impression that you’re sound asleep.
“well you looked really pretty today at school.” he continued. “is it obsessive to like everything about you? is it obsessive to love the way your name rolls off my tongue? yn. yn. yn. yn. see??? it’s so nice… i wish you could see what you’re doing to me. yn… you’re like… you’re like my everything.”
so many butterflies filled your stomach.
“i love you, haechan.” you mumbled into your pillow.
you heard the sound of haechan’s hand slapping his mouth.

you and your childhood best friend!haechan have been inseparable since preschool, no matter how much you wanted to be separated from him. You hoped that by the time you reached college you would have escaped him, but he followed you there too.
you were taking a cinematography class, and of course, he was there as well. you had just been assigned a project where a group would choose a movie scene to reenact and film. of course, you and haechan were partners. the two of you got to work at his place.
“ynnnnnn” a high-pitched whine shook you awake. “yn you can sleep later. we have to choose a scene.”
you lifted your head off of the cold kitchen table.
“hyuck you watch tons of dramas…let’s just do your favorite movie or something…”
suddenly, a light when off in haechan’s eyes. “perfect.”
he flashed a devious smile and you didn’t dare to ask what he was thinking.
he pulled his laptop from his bag and pulled up a video. “let’s do this one.”
on his laptop was a clip, where the male lead was leaning against the wall with his his arm up above the female lead’s head.
you weren’t surprised at what haechan had suggested; he’s always been a flirt.
you playfully nudged his shoulder. “donghyuck be for real.”
“pleaaaaaaasssseeeeeee can we please do this one?” he stomped his feet underneath the table. “it’ll be funny. plus, the professor said whoever chooses romance films gets extra credit.”
and for some reason… you believed him.
“seriously?”
“mhmm” he smiled.
“i hate you.” you grabbed the camera from the table and set it up on the tripod. “im only doing this for the sake of my grade.”
“this is a good spot over here.” haechan led you over to a wall in his living room.
you watched the video a few times to take notes of how the scene played out. “so you’re supposed to pin me to the wall, and then you say “look at me”, umm then i look at you.” you paused the video, and pressed record on the camera. “okay. take 1.”
haechan approached you confidently, a little too comfortable. he reached his hand up to the side of your face, and leaned forward, inching closer towards you. “look at me.” he said. you couldn’t look at him. not when you could feel your face burning red. you stepped away from haechan’s gaze for a moment. “i forgot my line.” you said, still looking away. “you’re not even supposed to say anything yet.” haechan giggled. “is your heart fluttering already?” he teased you. “let’s just try again.” he pulled your shoulder to turn you around. “oh my gosh.” he covered his mouth to hold his laugh. “yn your face is so red!” he clapped his hands together. “i was just joking about your heart fluttering-”
you pushed him away. “im just a really good actor.”
“wowwww actor yn. can i get your autograph??” he gasped.
you just ignored him. “take 2” you adjusted the camera.
haechan approached you again. “look at me.” he said. this time, you did look at him. he smiled. you were waiting for him to continue with the scene, but he just stared at you. you noticed him getting closer, his head tilting ever so slightly to the side as his face came to yours. you wanted to seem annoyed but you didn’t bother trying; you were so distracted by him. you had never really looked at him so intently before. “haechan.” you whispered, stopping him, but not pushing him away. “you know, there’s no kiss in this scene.”
he had that suspicious smile pasted across his face, like a kid stealing candy. “i know.” he continued where he left off. soon enough, his lips and your lips were glued.
normally when haechan got even remotely close to your face, your reflexes would shove him, but oddly, you didn’t feel like that anymore.
you kissed him. you kissed your best friend and you didn’t mind at all.
“yn.” he broke away from the kiss. “what do you think about me?”
you came to a sudden realization that you did have feelings for your best friend, and you saw no point in lying to him. “i think i like-” you started.
“that’s what i thought.” haechan tilted your head up a little before kissing you again. he pulled your head in to his chest. “i’ve been waiting for this moment since 5th grade.” he hugged you tighter.
you were still a little shocked at what just happened, but you couldn’t help but enjoy the warmth of haechan’s embrace, and what a good feeling it was to be loved by him.
“wait,” you muttered. “is that thing still recording?” you inspected the camera. haechan laughed. “well i guess now i’ve got a new favorite movie.”
you ended up submitting that very video, and to your surprise, you did get extra credit.
the end.
