One thing I find interesting about Hannibal is that he keeps his cards close to his chest.

He feels like the kind of guy who talks a lot about himself and his ambitions, and he talks like a smooth talking conman, but in hindsight, he’s pretty good at talking a lot while saying very little. He basically never monologues about his plans, and he shuts down and dodges direct questions about it. I’m frustrated that we never learned his ultimate goal, but I like that it’s completely in character that we couldn’t learn it from Hannibal declaring it himself, like how Jack or Vlad frequently monologue way too soon and sometimes cost themselves victory because of it. Even Chase monologues to Wuya about his plans for Omi, but Hannibal keeps his allies just as in the dark as he keeps his enemies.

It makes me wonder how Chase knows what Hannibal wants to do. Because Chase definitely does know, and he knows in such detail that it visibly terrifies him like nothing else.

Did Hannibal used to be the type to monologue and just stopped after Chase betrayed him and Hannibal realized he should be more secretive? 

Or was Hannibal always the tight-lipped sort, and Chase had to actively investigate during his time under Hannibal to get any idea what Hannibal’s plans that were “far worse than 1000 years of darkness” truly were?
