You are a young mermaid, not ready for your adult responsibility when you find a secret underwater tunnel that leads to a secret cove. You couldn’t imagine how your life was going to change because of it. HiccupXMermaid!Reader

This is my first reader insert where I also will write probably smut. I’m excited and also scared. That’s why I made the age of the characters like in Race to the Edge also 18 so no trouble. This story starts with the first movie, but like I said Hiccup and the gang are 18. I think it’s actually more logical that young adults fight against freacking dragons than 16-year-olds!
Also, the Mermaid-Reader will be my own interpretation of mermaids, I took some aspects from different sources and put them in one. ^^
I hope you will like it and leave some comments .3.
They make me so happy!

Chapter 1: The cove
It was so… tranquil.
Yes, that was the right word.
It was so tranquil.
Cozy.
Protected from prying eyes.
You looked around the cove. The trees, the stone formations.
It was like a little sanctuary.
Who would have thought that the underwater tunnel you have found today would lead you to this? You were deep in the forest which belonged to the land-dwellers.
Your [F/C] fishtail hit the water surface playfully.
This…was great.
A place just for you.
Away from your coven, who demand that you finally found someone to have children with.
You were 18 and it was high time you born a new generation. Like some of your friends already did. Just…non of the mermen in your coven had caught your eye.
You didn’t know yourself why you just couldn’t settle with someone. For what where you searching?
Signing you swam around the pool of the coven and then decide to sit on land, with half your fishtail in the water.
You hugged yourself, listing to the sounds of the birds chirping.
Yes, maybe you could live here alone for a while. Till you felt ready to try again with your suitors.
It was decided.
You would do this.
You needed a break and you would get it.
Smiling, you concreted, till your fishtail turned into human legs.
Careful you stood up.
It was always a weird feeling having legs.
You looked at yourself in the reflection of the water.
If a human would see you they surely would get a heart attack, since you were nude, but for your kind clothes were useless.
The only time you recalled wearing clothes was when your parents once brought you to a festival of the land-dwellers when you were young.
The land-dwellers didn’t know how often mermaids were under them since no one knew that the merfolk had this kind of power to switch between legs and fishtails.
This festival was one of your most precious memories.
It was held on this island and a lot of land-dwellers from different parts of the region came here to celebrate with the inhabitants.
The light, the food, the singing, and the dancing.
How amazing it had been!
But the most amazing thing was the little boy you had met.
He was tiny, with eyes so green like the grass and a mop of brown hair on his head. He was so sweet and shy, yet he had the courage to ask why you looked so different than him
You first didn’t get what he meant. Since when you took your two-legged form you looked perfectly human. The laughter of your parents and the whispered words of your mother still made you blush.
In land-dweller’s eyes the merfolk, even in their own human form, were beautiful and enchanting.
So the little boy had just found you beautiful and couldn’t better say it.
You were charmed, still.
You took his tiny hand in yours and he showed you his home.
You both enjoyed the festival together. Played games, eat food, and told stories about your families, till it was time for you to return to your parents.
Even with so many people around, you couldn’t stay long with the land dwellers. They would sooner or later notice that your family didn’t belong to either of their clans.
That’s when the little boy gave you shy a little bracelet he had made for you. You thanked him with a little kiss on the cheek, which left him paralyzed and you blushing and giggling run to your parents.
To return with them to the water.
Later when you fell asleep in the embrace of your mother, you remember you never even asked his name.
What a shame.
You stared at your reflection in the water and touched the necklace which hung between your full breasts.
It was made from the bracelet your little land dweller friend had made you. As you had grown the bracelet had become too tight for your pulse so you had turned it into a necklace.
You wonder if he still lived here?
How was he doing?
Was he married?
Had children?
Or had a dragon got to him?
You bit your lip and walked around the cove thinking.
Dragons and the merfolk were friends. The water dragons even loved to play with your people, but they did steal food from the land dwellers.
No one knew why.
It was not like you talked the tongue of the dragons.
You just know that since forever, that dragons and the merfolk were friends.
Again no one knew why.
It was just like this.
The dragons loved the merfolk and they stole food from the land dwellers.
While you were walking you found a little cave.
Oh, this would be a perfect sleeping place.
You could sleep underwater, but you wanted to stay a bit more above.
By the seven seas, once you made your decisions and had children you couldn’t anymore have little adventures like this.
Best to make of the time you still had.
So you got into the cave and prepared with leafs a comfy sleeping place.
After you catched yourself some fish from the pool, and eat them, you decide to go to sleep.
The night was approaching, it was high time.
Smiling satisfied with this little sanctuary you had found for yourself, you fall asleep like a babe.
Forgetting all the worries in the world. Just enjoying the tranquility.
It didn’t last long since a black dragon crashed into the cove.
So much for a relaxing sleep!

Chapter 2: A strange encounter
Careful you stood up from your sleeping place and walked over to the dark dragon.
The poor thing was whining pitifully. It had crashed against one of the stone formations and lay now sideway, its tail curled around itself.
You saw how he licked his tailfin.
Why was it doing that?
You tried to make out in the dark of the night what was wrong with it. Then you understood. It missed a part of its tailfin!
Your heart got out to the dragon!
Poor baby, who had done this to it? Like this, it wouldn’t be able to fly. It was a downed dragon. And a downed dragon is a dead one.
That is what the elders of your coven always told.
You stood now before the dragon and he finally took note of you. You saw how it sniffed the air, probably to check what you are, then you saw how it relaxed a bit.
It recognized the smell of merpeople.
This was good.
You kneeled down before it and reached a hand out. You know the dragons didn’t like to be touched, you needed to get permission from it. You waited for a bit, till you felt how it nudge your hand with his snout.
“Hey sweetheart.”, you cooed and stroked it’s snout. “Your tail hurts bad doesn’t it?”
As an answer, it whines pitifully.
You let your eyes thrift for a second to his nether regions.
He whines pitifully.
Poor boy!
“Don’t worry, I can help. I can’t give you back your tailfin, but I can prevent the wound get infected or worse.”, you tell him.
He looks at you with big green eyes. A question groan left his lips.
You pat his snout before you reached with your other hand in the direction of the pool.
You feel the water answering your command. It flies in a stream to your hand, forming a clove.
You put your water-covered hand on the wound of your new dragon friend and let the water twirl around. You concentrated to heal his wound. The water glows, fighting the infection that was beginning to form. Knitting back the broken skin.
When you feel there is not more to heal for you, you send the water back to the pool.
Your dragon friend croons cutely and gives your cheek a big lick as thank you.
You laugh and pet him.
“It was nothing, sweetheart. I’m glad I could help.”

The next day you wake up thanks to the sounds of the morning birds. This was a new experience for you. You never had heard the singing of the birds this early.
How beautiful and relaxing!
You yawn, snuggling up more to your black dragon friend, while he curled his one wing tighter around you, keeping you warm.
Yesterday night, after the healing session and you making sure he eat some fish, you both had curled up together in your little makeshift sleep place.
Having a dragon as your personal blanket and cuddly company was also new.
But oh so very welcome.
Maybe you two could stay somehow together.
The poor dear needed someone to feed him and care for his wound. Yes, you had healed it well up, yet it was better if you did it for a few more days.
Just to be sure.
Well, it was not like you wanted to return home that fast. You would stay a bit longer here in the cove with your dragon friend.
He needed a name.
You stretched your limps and he crooned softly. Snuggling more up to you, trying to get back to sleep.
You laughed, petting his snout: “Good morning sleepy head, it’s time we get up. I want to check on your tail and then I will catch us some fish.”
The mention of getting fish turned your dragon friend into an excited puppy. He jumped up and croon softly at you.
You missed his warmth but tried to ignore the goosebumps and sat up.
After checking his tail and healing it again with water, you jumped into the pool returning to your mermaid form.
Time to catch some breakfast!
While you were busy with that, you could hear muffled how your dragon friend tried to fly. Your sweetheart probably thought with you healing his wound he could manage.
But you know better.
You can’t regrow what is gone. It hurt you that you can’t help him.
When you are satisfied with the fish you got, holding them tightly in your arms, you see how Sweetheart puts his head into the pool.
You grin up at him and he gives you a crooked grin.
Breaking the surface, you can’t help to give his snout a little kiss. It turns him all shy and you laugh.
“I got us food, Sweetheart.”, you tell him.
He croons excited and you swim to the edge of the pool, putting the caught fish on land.
Sweetheart does not waste time and digs in, which makes you giggle softly.
He is really like an excited toddler.
That is when you hear a gasp and how something falls down into the cove.
The tink, tink, tink, of the thing alerts even Sweetheart.
You both turn to the noise.
And now you have to gasp.
There is a boy.
Probably your age.
He has wild auburn hair with two little braids in it. Eyes so green like the forest around you. His face is oh so handsome. You can tell he is tall and well-muscled like a merman. Not typically for the land dwellers here who seems to be just a block of muscles. He wears a red tunic with some kind of brown armour.
Strangely you have the feeling you have seen him before.
Something about his eyes…
That’s when you get ice cold and gulp.
Oh no, oh no!
A land dweller has seen you! No way in the seven seas he didn’t see your fishtail! It was forbidden to interact with the land dwellers like this!
Oh god, what would he do?
Would he kill you? And Sweetheart too?
Land dwellers weren’t famous for being open-minded.
Yet, he didn’t do anything.
He just stared from Sweetheart to you and back to Sweetheart.
They both shared a profound, unflinching stare, that you felt like an intruder.
It was strange, it was like the world had shifted.
But neither of the boys knew it.
You felt it in your gut.
You don’t know how long you all stayed like this. After a while, the boy gave you two a last glance and…walked just away?
Shocked couldn’t even describe what you were feeling.
This…this was…not something you expected.
The boy was already different from the other land dweller. Not only from the looks, but from the way he thought.
Why would he let a dragon and mermaid be alive?
It didn’t make sense to you.
You rubbed your head and turned to Sweetheart.
He crooned softly. Like he didn’t know either what was going on.
For a moment you had the crazy idea to just turn into your land dweller form and follow after the boy.
Demanding answers.
But this was crazy.
“Let’s just eat Sweetheart.”, you told your dragon friend and tried not to think about the beautiful eyes of the strange boy.

Hiccup sat alone in the Grand Hall with the book of dragons open on the site with the Night Fury entry. He had put his sketchbook with the image he did of the dragon on it.
He could hear the storm outside, but the storm inside him was stronger.
His whole world was flipped upside down.
Just two days ago he had been the disappointment of his father, not worthy to be the heir, even if he wasn’t anymore the fishbone of a boy he once was, and just wanted to kill dragons to finally make his mark, to now not knowing what to think.
He got the Night Fury.
He let it go.
The Night Fury didn’t kill him.
Even if Gobber had said, that dragons always go for the kill.
Searching for an answer he tracked it down to a secret cove.
Only to not find just the dragon but by Odin’s beard a freaking mermaid!
It was so bizarre seeing the Night Fury and you interact like you were friends.
Dragons were hostile creatures!
Well, that is what they had told him for 18 years.
Mermaids were dangerous too!
They lured with their singing the ships of his people against cliffs, so they could eat the meat from their bones.
But how you treated the Night Fury didn’t paint you as a dangerous creature.
You seemed like a normal girl his age who took care of something wounded.
Besides, of course the fishtail and your breasts were for the world to see.
Here Hiccup blushed and groaned. He made a facepalm.
He never had seen a naked woman before and now he kinda did. He didn’t know how to handle that!
It didn’t help that you were so goddamn beautiful!
More beautiful than Astrid!
And Hiccup always thought that Astrid was some kind of heavenly Valkyrie, so goes figure.
This made you practical a goddess.
Again, the image of your perfect perky breasts came to his mind and he groaned even louder.
Hiccup could feel that he got excessively excited. This was so shameful! It was not right to lust after someone he didn’t know, even if you were a mermaid!
Yet his body betrayed him.
Angry he stared down at his "little problem". Great, he has turned into a perv like Snoutloud.
This gave him the shivers.
He tried to think about something different.
How about how you and Night Fury seemed so buddy-buddy with each other? Then the dragon didn’t kill him.
This had to mean something.
Maybe there was more to dragons and mermaids as they know?
Tomorrow he would try to get answers.

Chapter 3: Mermaid, Human, and Dragon
You were just floating around on the surface of the pool in the hidden cove and staring into the sky. Sweetheart has made himself comfortable on a rock formation, taking a nap.
After the strange boy had left yesterday, you really thought that he would be back with his whole village to hunt you two down, but nothing happened.
You were glad!
It just didn’t make sense!
What was going on, in his brain? Why did he just leave? Why didn’t he return?
Why did you want that he returned?
Yes, he was very, very handsome and his green eyes have haunted you in your sleep, but you shouldn’t feel this way.
You should just be happy that the boy left you and Sweetheart alone.
End of story.
Yet you didn’t want that it ended like this.
You wanted to understand him. You wanted to understand these new feelings in you. You wanted to understand why you thought you knew him.
You signed out loud and dipped down in the pool.
Maybe being a bit underwater would help you.
Bored you braided some seaweed. You had no idea what do to with yourself. Or for what you could use the seaweed.
Still you braided.
You were so fixed on the braiding that you got something happening on the surface as a shiny little dagger floated down your side.
With a raised eyebrow you watched the dagger floating down on the ground of the pool.
Okay?
That’s when you heard a muffled voice saying: “Huh. Toothless. I could've sworn you had...-“
Yes, this was Sweetheart who swallowed something. Probably a fish.
“-teeth.”
And a land dweller was talking to him.
Could it be…him?
You felt how your heart started to race at that thought. You needed to check!
So slowly and carefully you emersed your head till your nose out of the water to see who was with Sweetheart.
Indeed, it was him!
The strange young man from yesterday!
You felt yourself blushing. You were closer to him now and…wow he had adorable freckles on his face and his eyes were still this brilliant forest green.
You hadn’t made them up. They really were so enchanting and familiar like you remember.
Currently, he and Sweetheart are sitting in front of each other, and…is this a regurgitated bit of fish on the boy’s lap?
Fascinated you looked at how the two seem to communicate without words.
Sweetheart wanted that the boy eats the fish and he did it with great discomfort.
You have to give kudos to the young men.
Eating fish with dragon saliva on it was something nasty! Not to copy.
The boy gave Sweetheart an awkward smile, which made you smile too, and… incredible Sweetheart tried to copy him.
You had to fight a giggle at Sweetheart’s smile. It was so crocky and adorable!
Amazed, the boy sits up and tries to touch him. Sweetheart just hisses at him. So the boy didn’t know that dragons didn’t like to be touched. They needed to come to you, not you to them.
Your dragon friend flaps off to a crash on the other side of the cove. You whine silently at it and hope he doesn’t hurt himself. But seeing how he blasts the mossy ground to a red-hot temperature and curls up on it like a giant puppy, shows you that all is good with him.
You need to stifle your giggles as you see how the strange boy sits now beside sweetheart waving innocently. Sweetheart tolerates his persistent presence until the boy tries to touch his damaged tail. The dragon snaps at him.
At least he doesn’t have a death wish and leaves Sweetheart be.
Mmh…could you maybe?
He is here, so why not.
Careful and silent you swim to the pool edge, where Sweetheart is sitting.
He titles his head cutely and wants to croon at you, but you make clear that he needs to be still.
So he does and just blinks at you.
When you are out of the water, you turn your fishtail into legs and stand up. You give sweetheart a pet and then slowly walk over to the strange boy.
He is sitting with his back towards you, minding his own busy. You can see he is enjoying the rays of the sun.
What was the best way to approach him?
“You came alone, why?”, you ask him directly.
Dancing around the subject is too troublesome. Just go for the kill shot.
Startled he twirls around with his head and gets so red in the face that you need a new word for the color seeing you in all your naked glory.
He gaps like a fish, then shyly looks at the ground.
You cock a hip out and cross your arms wondering.
Humans and their weird way how the handle nudity. What was so wrong with being nude? Why did they have the need to cover up something so beautiful like the body?
“Hello, I asked you something.”, you say to him.
You see him gulp, still looking at the ground.
“You…you are the mermaid. The…the one from yesterday.”, he stutters.
“Correct.”
Why should you lie if he knows?
He is still and plays with his fingers.
You sign.
Better address the elephant in the cove.
“Okay, what has you bothered so much?”, you start. “That I’m not a bloodthirsty mermaid or my naked tits and pussy?”
How he splutters makes you bit your lip to not laugh out loud. He seems overwhelmed with all.
You are not that evil to make him suffer more.
“You know what forget it. I’m [Y/N], what’s your name?”
He still doesn’t look at you, but he answers: “I’m…Hiccup.”
“Bless you?”
“No, that’s my name.”
Which kind of parents gave their offspring such a name?
Maybe he practically hears this question in the silence between you, because he rolls his eyes and explains: “Parents believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls. Like our charming Viking demeanor wouldn't do that.”
“So that is what you call yourself, Viking.”, you say astonished.
Now he makes the mistake to look up. He is still red, but you see how he tries only to look at your face. It’s sweet, but it’s not like you are ashamed of your body. Probably a human thing.
“What do your people call us?”, he asks curiously.
“Land Dweller and we are the merfolk or merpeople.”
“That… fascinating.”
You nod and then raise an eyebrow.
“You still haven’t answered me, why did you come alone? I was scared you would return with your whole clan to hunt down Sweetheart and me.”, you tell him truthfully.
“Sweetheart? He looks more like a Toothless.”, he rebukes with a frown.
“Only because he can retreat his teeth? You are not that creative.”, you fire back.
“Says the one who just calls him by a pet name.”, he counters.
You both stare at each other frowning, till you feel how your lips twitch and see how Hiccup’s does too.
Not a second later you both laugh.
The whole situation is so surreal.
Here you are with a human, Viking, probably the first time in the history of both your people talking and you both can’t agree on a name for a dragon.
Even thinking about it, it’s just crazy.
“I came alone because…I don’t want to hurt you two. Neither Toothless nor you. I told nobody of you both.”, he explains finally.
This…is actually good.
You sit down beside him, hugging your knees to your chest so he doesn’t see your breasts. Maybe that will make him calm down more.
“That’s really noble of you. I never heard of a land dweller who didn’t kill a dragon or mermaid.”
Hiccup doesn’t seem to share your sentiment. He rolls his eyes and huffs.
“That’s you, but if my people found out that not only I’m hiding a dragon, especially a Night Fury and a mermaid from them, they would call me crazy and banish me without a doubt.”
“Really just like that?”
“We have been enemies with the dragons for 100 years and your people have a bad reputation of singing Vikings to their doom, so yeah, the popularity award I wouldn’t win.”
“That’s just insane!”, you shout and can’t help to let go of your knees and raise your hands over your head. “Dragons are wonderful creatures, we have been friends with time since we can remember and my people don’t do that. Or at least we don’t do it anymore. When we first learned that land dwellers died because of our singing we are careful that no one of your people are near us when we sing.”
“Hey, calm down, all is good. I’m not thinking like my people. At least not anymore.”, he admits.
Like if you had agreed on, you both turn to Toothless, who is taking now a nap, hanging upside down from a tree like a bat. You coo at the dragon and Hiccup smiles a bit.
“These past days have been crazy but…I’m starting to see the truth.”
“And what is the truth?”
Now you look each other in the eyes. How you wished to dive into these pools of wonderful green.
“There…there is more than meets the eyes with dragons and mermaids.”, he whispers like he is telling a secret. “Maybe, no, we did judge to fast and didn’t try to understand you. And I want to understand.”
This really touches your heart. You feel and hear in his voice how sincere Hiccup is.
He wants to change, to learn, to understand.
“Then.”, you begin and hold out a hand for him to take. “Let’s be friends and learn from each other, Hiccup. I too want to understand you Vikings better.”
He gives you a crooked smile, which is not good for your already racing heart, and takes it carefully like you are something immensely precious, your hand in his.
Your small hand fits perfectly into his larger one. Like you are two pieces of a shell. You try not to think about it too much.
You shake each other hands.
And something beautiful is born, you can just feel it.

You don’t know how, but you and Hiccup end up drawing on the earth together.
Well he draws, you make nonsense.
Drawing was not really a hobby mermaids did.
While you two draw away, you talk with each other.
You learn from Hiccup that he is the son of the chief, the leader of the Vikings, and one day should take over. But in his father’s eyes, he was a disappointment, even if he wasn’t anymore so little as he used to be.
You tell him about your parents and your coven. How you are practically one big family. About the circle of elders who lead and made the rules, your coven has to follow. You needed to have a certain age and other merpeople had to vote for you to enter the circle of elders.
It was fascinating how different your societys worked.
What you had in common was that you both may be 18, actually been young adults, but in the eyes of your people you were a man in Hiccup’s case if he killed his first dragon and for you when you born your first child.
Yeah, neither of you was jealous of the other.
You couldn’t image killing a dragon like Toothless, it would rip your heart out and Hiccup found it so weird that he would need to father a child to be seen as an adult.
“So marriage doesn’t exist for your people?”, he asks again, after he explains to you the concept of marriage of his people.
You have given up on drawing and just watch amazed at how Hiccup is making a drawing of Toothless.
“Yes, we mate just. Sometimes for life, like my parents, and form our own family units.”. you tell him. “Most of my people stay with a mate for a short while, till the baby is a toddler, and then search for a new match.”
“You don’t believe in love for eternity. Having one person to share anything till your last breath?”
“Me personal or my people?”
“Both?”
“Did you really make it sound like a question, Hiccup?”, you try not to laugh.
He makes a face and adds some more details to his Toothless drawing.
“Also?”
You sign. You never really thought about it. You should go with that what you people believe.
“We believe in love. But the love of the family, of the entire coven, is more important than one between two merpeople. Only united we are strong. It’s not like that this love is frowned upon, my parents aren’t treated differently just because they are Mates.”, you tell him. “For me personally…never thought of that. I just know one day I need to find a mate to have a child if I want to be an adult.”
You weren’t ready to tell that you actually run away from your duty to your people since you didn’t feel ready to make this step. You guys got to know each other still, it was way too earlier to talk about something like this.
Before Hiccup could answer, you both felt Toothless behind you, staring down at the drawings.
Hiccup continued to draw like nothing was happening, while Toothless crooned at it.
What happened in the next minutes…you could only describe it as magical.
As world changing.
You were a silent observant of how this two, dragon and young men, got an understanding for each other.
How Hiccup reached his hand out to Toothless turning his head away, showing him trust.
And then…Toothless touching Hiccup’s hand with his snout.
They stayed like this for a few seconds.
You swore the world stood still and started to again as Toothless got away from him and Hiccup stared in awe after the dragon.
You walked up to your Viking friend, putting a hand on his shoulder.
“Dragons are amazing, aren’t they?”
He turned his head to you. You saw a flicker of the young boy he once was when the world was still filled with hope, magic, and unconditional love.
Somehow this was so familiar…
He nodded speechlessly.

Chapter 4: Growing closer
Tight your little hand was held by your mother. She was making sure you didn’t get lost.
With your free hand, you scratched the collar of your dress. You weren’t used to clothes.
It was so itchy!
Your father laughs and pats your head.
You grin up at him.
Your little family is one of many in this ocean of land-dwellers. No one would suspect anything.
With big eyes you let your parents lead you through the festive land dweller home.
There was food, music, and games!
Things you have never seen. It was so different than when your people celebrate important dates.
Children run around laughing. Men cheery drunk many cups of ale. Women talked, and gossiped with each other.
Young men asked young women to dance with them at the plaza in an enchanting circle, where they switched partners, twirling around and finding each other again.
Laughing you pointed at it and your father got the hit.
He took you in his arms, twirling you around.
You giggled happily and heard how your mother was clapping in tune with the music for you both.
You could see that some land dweller, mostly older women, watched you and your father dancing away, cooing at you two.
You did blush a bit, but you wouldn’t stop.
Your father picked you up and throw you high up. You heard the worried gasp of the land dwellers, but you were used to and had faith in your father.
He caught you, putting you down on the floor.
The music got more energetic.
You gripped one of each hand of your parents so that you three could dance together.
It was so much fun to get twirled around by your mother and your father.
It was heartwarming seeing how they danced with each other, emotions you didn’t understand in their eyes, yet you wanted that someone looked one day at you this way.
This look was so amazing.
With a last big twirl the song ended, you laughed gleefully and your parents took you in their embrace.
That’s when you saw him.
He was all alone in a corner of the plaza, like a lost little lamb.
He looked at you with big green eyes, as if you were something otherwordly. You didn’t know why you blushed.
You saw how he seemed to give himself a pep talk and walked slowly up to you…

Abruptly you awoke from your dream or more from the memory and looked confused around.
Last night you decide to sleep underwater, even if Toothless was an amazing cuddle partner, you had missed the lull of the water, so you slept on the ground of the pool in the hidden cove.
You were enjoying your dream, remembering your old land dweller friend, as two big splashes woke you up.
Finally, you saw that Hiccup and Toothless seemed to have taken a dive.
But why was Hiccup cheering like a maniac?
Determined to get the answer you swim up and break the surface beside Hiccup.
“Good morning, Hiccup. You seem really enthusiastic, what’s up?”
Grinning he turns to you and shakes his wet brown locks from his forehead.
“Hey [Y/N]! Good morning to you too I was wondering where you were.”, he greets you, his grin really bordering on maniac.
“Mermaid, did you forget? I’m more used to sleeping underwater.”, you raise an eyebrow at him and turn to Toothless.
The dragon is on land and is shaking himself dry like a big dog.
Wait for a second, what was that?!
“Hiccup, what is this on Toothless tail?”, you ask shocked.
It looks like a tailfin, but it’s impossible. It can’t just grow back!
“That my dear friend is my newest invention.”, he tells you proudly. “I understood that without his tailfin intact Toothless can never fly again, so I made him an artificial one.”
Here Toothless snorts really loud and seems to shake his head at Hiccup.
“Yeah I know, Toothless, it wasn’t that good. But I will work on it till I get it right! You will fly again I promise.”
You get all mushy inside.
How sweet of Hiccup to want to help Toothless.
“You are a good man.”, you tell him proudly.
Here he grins sheepishly and rubs his neck.
“Well, it is actually my fault that he is like that…”
…What?!
With an ice-cold voice you demand to know what he means by that and he tells you that he was the one who shoot down Toothless with one of his inventions!
You know what do to!
With your fishtail, you send a huge wave in his face, which nearly drowns him and makes Toothless laugh a dragon laugh.
“Come on [Y/N], I said sorry a 100 times, even Toothless isn’t angry at me anymore.”. Hiccup whines at you.
You just scoff and cuddle closer to Toothless, who has one of his wings wrapped around your form.
Maybe you are been petty, Hiccup is doing anything to right his wrong, just your anger is still bigger. You still remember with clarity how Toothless has suffered under his wound till you healed him up.
“All right.”, signs Hiccup. “I brought something for you too, I will just leave it here.”
This perks you up.
“You have something for me?”, you repeated and even Toothless grumbled interested.
Hiccup grins a little and hands you a big parcel.
You look at it confused.
“The big fur is a blanket, so you don’t freeze if you sleep above ground.”, he tells you, while you unpack it.
A pretty dress in your favorite color, undergarments, and shoes come out.
You blink a few times.
Then you give him a grin.
“It bothers you so much that I’m naked that you got me clothes, I’m right?”
He splutters an excuse, but his red cheeks are a dead giveaway.
“All right, all right. I will wear it. There is just a problem.”, you tell him gleefully, excited to see how he reacts.
“W-What?”
“I don’t know how to dress in it. You need to help me.”
Hiccup turns formally into a statue. Just his gapping mouth and his red cheeks are any indications that he is still in the realm of the living.
You and Toothless break out in laughter. For that Hiccup gives you both a death stare.
But it seems his discomfort with seeing you all the time naked is higher than helping you dress because he tells you to stand up.
Grinning cheekily you do it.
“And now?”, you ask with a wink.
The young man huffs at you and picks up the undergarments.
“First this!”
Oho, seems like someone wants to be all tough. You just can’t and giggle even more. He looks at you annoyed.
Putting the undergarments on is an experience.
Feeling his callous hands on your skin gives you goosebumps and lets your mind thrift to places where you probably shouldn’t go.
Like how they would feel in your most sensitive place.
You fight off your lust, while Hiccup helps you put on the dress.
Okay, now you feel like a toddler.
After the shoes are in their place, you playfully pick up the skirt of your dress and twirl around.
You admit you feel beautiful wearing it.
Nonetheless, you ask: “So how do I look?”
The way Hiccup stares at you and gulps, make the butterflies in your stomach fly wild. This look…you have seen it before, you can’t just put your finger on it.
“You look amazing.”, Hiccup coughs shyly. His eyes look at the ground and a cute blush is on his cheeks. “The color suits you well.”
“You have seen me butt naked, but me dressed get’s you all bothered. You are a cutie pie, you know?”, you can’t help but tease him a bit.
For that, you get again an annoyed look.
You just giggle.

The next day you watch amused at how Hiccup chases Toothless around the coven.
He had made a saddle and harness so he could help Toothless fly. To say the dragon wasn’t impressed with his idea was an understatement.
“[Y/N], please help me!”, Hiccup formally whines at you.
With a laugh, you help him to catch the running dragon.
“That a good boy.”, you coo at Toothless, giving him pats, while Hiccup puts the saddle on him. “Who is the most handsome boy? Yes, it’s you!”
Toothless gives you for this a big dragon smooch.
You give his snout a kiss back.
You miss how heartful Hiccup looks at you.

Toothless and Hiccup are trying out to fly together. You are in your mermaid form in the water watching them.
The tail breaks free sending Hiccup flying.
“Hiccup!”, you shout worried. “Toothless!”
Thank god for the two land in the water.
You swim up to them to check if they are okay.
“Okay, I need something that doesn’t make me fly off this easily.”, Hiccup mumbles to himself, while you look for injuries.

“I have something for you.”
You are petting Toothless and grin up to him.
“Another gift? You spoil me, Hiccup!”
He turns red, handing you a book.
You look at it fascinated.
“If you are ever bored, you can read the book. It’s one of my favorites.”, he explains to you.
“That’s very sweet of you.”, you tell him touched. “There is just one problem.”
“Huh?”
“I can’t read your language.”
Hiccup is still for a second, blinking with wide eyes, till he announces: “Well then I have to teach you how to read and write.”
Thus your first lesson starts.

You laugh out loud seeing how blissful Toothless is rolling around in the tall grass. The dragon writhes on his back, tongue wagging, in complete bliss.
Hiccup picks up a bit of the dragon nip and gets a mischief idea.
Later, before he has to go to Dragon Training, you both sit together leaning on Toothless in the cove, reading together.
Well, Hiccup reads and tries to teach you.
You follow his finger moving over the writing word, reading out loud with him.
Slowly you get a grasp on the language of the Vikings.

Like Hiccup has taught you, you write your own name on the ground of the cove.
Meanwhile, Hiccup rubs Toothless behind the ear, causing him to relax and fall over.
You both stare at each other and then at the purring dragon.
You laugh together.
You feel your heart hammering in your chest.
These days with Hiccup and Toothless have been so far the best days of your life.
You didn’t know, but Hiccup thought the same about you and Toothless.

“You are so mean.”, you tell Hiccup giggling.
With his hammer, he has created a little light spot which Toothless chases around the coven like a big kitty cat.
He just winks at you, which makes you turn shy and he blushes red after he realized what he has done.
You both look down at the ground, small smiles on your faces.

Hiccup straps a newly designed harness onto Toothless. With Toothless tied to a nearby post with a rope. Hiccup rides him in the air while stationary. Toothless looks like a giant kite tied to a tree stump.
This harness seems to work.
You look up from your book and smile at them.
They are slowly getting there.
The rope breaks and the pair crashes into a tree.
Worried you call out to them and look for injuries.
That’s when Hiccup sees that the harness has become jacked.
“Oh, great.”, he groans.
“Oh dear, what now?”, you ask him.
Hiccup looks from you to Toothless.
“Well, you both ever visited a Viking village?”
Toothless and you stare at him.

“This is crazy!”, you mumbled as you search in the Blacksmith's stall for the tool Hiccup asked you.
Toothless is with you in there, while Hiccup is out, playing guard.
Suddenly you hear a feminine voice calling out to Hiccup.
Both talk really awkward to each other or better this Astrid is accusing Hiccup of being weirder than usual.
You turn angry hearing that.
Who is this girl and who the hell does she think she is?
You find the tool the same moment Toothless sees the sheep.
“Toothless, no!”, you hiss at him.
Too late then Hiccup gets pulled through the shutters.
You sit behind Hiccup holding on tight as you three make it like a tree and escape from this Astrid.
At least you got the tool and can separate Hiccup and Toothless in the safety of the cove.
What crazy days you have lived with them!

Chapter 5: It is time!
It was now finally there.
After days of days of experimenting, of learning, and working on making better equipment for Hiccup and Toothless.
They were ready.
It was time to see if they really could fly together.
You hold on tight Hiccup waist, no way in the seven seas you were missing this.
And well, Hiccup wanted you to join them.
So here you were with Hiccup, flying with Toothless over the ocean.
It was already so incredible.
All was so small from this high up.
Billowing clouds rise like mountains. The ground seems miles below you.
“Okay there bud, we're gonna take this nice and slow.”, he tells your dragon friend and then turns to you. “You ready for it, milady?”
You blink for a second.
This was the first time Hiccup called you milady. You don’t know how to feel about that.
You nodded and hugged his body tighter.
“Let’s go Hiccup and Toothless!”
Hiccup checks a leather cheat sheet, clipped onto his harness. Inscribed upon it are several tail positions and their pedal position equivalents.
“Here we go. Here we go...position three, no four.”
“I hope you know what you do.”, you mumbled.
“Don’t worry, I have anything under control.”, he reassures you.
He presses the pedal, causing the tail to flare. You guys roll off into an arcing bank, gloriously lit by the late afternoon sun. Hiccup tucks tight against his neck, thrilled that his new harness and vest are holding. The foot controls make the tail appendage quick and responsive. He watches Toothless' every fluctuation, trying to match it with the prosthetic. Hiccup sizes up a target a towering arch of stone, rising from the sea.
“Don’t tell me we are going in?”, you ask a bit scared.
“Hold on tight, [Y/N]!”, he gives you as an answer.
You sign and grip him even tighter. You can feel his muscles under the harness.
No, now was not the time to fantasize about Hiccup muscles.
“All right, it's go time. It's go time.”
“May have the seven seas mercy on us!”, you can’t help but say.
You dive toward it, lining up to pass through the arch.
“Come on. Come on buddy. Come on buddy!”, Hiccup encourages Toothless.
You join him: “You can do it Toothless!”
Careful you guys zip through the arch. A perfect maneuver.
This calms you down massively. Seems like Hiccup got it right!
“Yeah! Yes, it worked!”, he yells happily.
“Wuhu!”, you also yell glad.
The triumph is short-lived. You guys smack into one of several sea stacks as Hiccup tries to keep up with the turns.
“Sorry.”
Again you hurtle into another rock pillar. Toothless grumbles. You give Hiccup’s back of head an annoyed look.
“My fault.”
Toothless swats him with his 'ear' plate and you flick the back of his head.
“Yeah, yeah, I'm on it.”, Hiccup promises and checks again his cheat sheet. “Position four, no three.”
Your trio pierces the clouds. For the first time, Hiccup and you can see the whole of the island below you.
It’s so beautiful that you let out a gasp. Who would have thought that a mermaid would one day reach the skies?
Berk shrinks with every passing second. You hear how Hiccup swallows hard and tightens his grip on the handles. To be safe you check that you hold on to him tight too.
“Yeah! Go baby! Yes! Oh, this is amazing! The wind in my...CHEAT SHEET! STOP!”
It happens so fast.
One moment you are flying, then Toothless stops to beat his wings and Hiccup and you go weightless. The rings of his vest float off of the harness hooks. Hiccup and you suddenly find yourself detached, free-falling!
“Kyaaah!”, you shriek scared, and wrap even your legs around Hiccup.
He isn’t better, he is screaming for his life too: “Oh, gods! Oh no!”
Without Hiccup, the tail loses control.
You, Hiccup, and Toothless spiral downward. Toothless fights to get back under you guys.
“This is it, this is it, that’s how I die!”, you scream scared shitless, meanwhile Hiccup tries to get back to Toothless: “All right, okay. You just gotta kinda angle yourself. No, no...come back down towards me. Come back down--!”
Hiccup extends his arms and legs, giving himself as much surface area as he can. He angles back towards Toothless as the tumbling dragon whacks you two with his wing. After a few more misses, Hiccup finally grabs hold of the harness and manages to lock in just in time to pull Toothless out of his dive barely shy of the tree tops. You guys careen past the wooded cliff and directly into treacherous slalom course of jutting sea stacks. Hiccup pulls the cheat sheet from his teeth and attempts to check positions. It flaps violently in the turbulence, making it impossible.
“FORGET IT!”, you scream at him, still holding on to him tight like a koala. “JUST FLY!”
He listens to you and throws the cheat sheet away and steers Toothless' tail on instinct with perfect intuition.
Together, they manage a tight, hair-raising series of split-second turns, making it to the open water, unscathed.
Hiccup and you take a breath and glance back at the death-defying obstacle course, now safely behind you. He beams, relieved. You let out the breath you were holding, grinning.
He sits back and throws his arms up in victory. You pump one of your fists.
“YEEAHHH!”, you both celebrate together.
Toothless concurs with a happy squeal and a fireball. Hiccup's glee turns to dread as you fly directly into it.
“Ah, come on.”, he groans.
You giggle and hide behind his broad shoulders.

Later your trio is on a deserted little island on its beach. With Toothless’s help, Hiccp made a fire and you caught for your three enough fish to eat.
You and Hiccup are cooking your fish over the fire while leaning comfortably on Toothless, who eats gleefully his share.
You can’t help but tussle Hiccup ash-covered hair and giggle.
“That’s a good look on you.”, you tease.
“You are just lucky you had me as your personal shield.”, he rebukes, but he grins.
“You are an awesome shield.”, you praise him. “And an amazing dragon rider.”
“Aww, shush, you turn me all shy.”, he waves your praise off.
You smile just at him. This boy… this young man, he really did the impossible he made a downed dragon fly again and rides it.
Who would have thought this possible?
Suddenly Toothless regurgitates a fish head. Hiccup smirks with forced politeness.
“Uh..no thanks. I'm good.”
Toothless looks at you with big eyes. You love the dragon, but you would never eat fish like that.
“Thanks, sweetheart, but I’m good too.”
Several Terrible Terrors land like seagulls, hissing and nipping at each other as they approach Toothless' pile of fish. One grabs the regurgitated fish head and drags it away. Another attempts to steal it from him. They face off and last fire balls at each other to settle the fight.
Hiccup, you and Toothless watch, amused.
That is until Toothless spots one of his fish leaving the pile. A stealthy Terrible Terror is exposed as the thief. They tug on the fish, and it snaps back into Toothless' mouth.
He swallows it back tauntingly.
Irate, the little dragon paws at the ground and blast Toothless. He opens his mouth, the gas hiss comes, and Toothless fires a tiny flame straight into its mouth, causing the gas to backfire into the little dragon. It coughs up smoke and staggers away, looking ill.
Hiccup and you laugh.
“Not so fireproof on the inside, are you?”, the brunette say to the little dragon.
“Here you are cutie.”, you throw the Terror some cooked fish.
The appreciative little dragon gulps down the meal and approaches you and Hiccup cautiously. He curls up between you two.
You start to pet the little dragon, while Hiccup is amazed. He joins you in the petting.
“Everything we know about you guys is wrong.”, says Hiccup out loud.
You know he referring to this Viking village.
“The world turned upside down, huh?”, you tell him.
Hiccup nods.
“You can say it loud, milady, you can say it loud.”
You frown hearing him calling you again milady. What’s up with that?
“Please don’t call me that.”, you beg him, wrinkling your nose. “Milady fits someone else, not me.”
The brunette splutters and turns red.
“I…I thought…I didn’t really think…I’m sorry.”
He turns away from you with a crestfallen face. You bite your lip, while Toothless croons at you. You didn’t mean it like that.
Careful you put a hand on Hiccup check so you can face each other. You fight down your own embarrassment.
“Listen, if, if you want to give me a pet name, milady doesn’t do it for me. That’s someone else. Not me.”, you explain.
The young man blinks at you, you feel how warm his cheek gets under your hand.
“Oh…so you are not against pet names?”
“N-No. Not from you.”
“Oh.”
You just stare into each other eyes and can’t seem to look away. Deep down you know if you don’t make it clear now that you like Hiccup more than a friend, you would miss your chance.
So you put your other hand on his cheek and slowly lean in. You give him enough time to turn away, to make it clear if he doesn’t what this.
But just feel how he shakes under your hands and leans in too.
Your lips meet in a soft kiss.
It’s just your lips on his.
His lips are a bit dry against your soft ones.
Yet it is the most amazing kiss of your life. You can’t even describe the emotion that is flowing in your body. Hiccup seems to feel the same thing since he signs, closes his eyes, and puts one of his hands over yours.
This gives you the courage to deepen the kiss.
Your close your eyes and your lips sloat together.
It’s a perfect fit.
Like you are made for each other.
Your lips meet over and over in kisses and you would probably still kiss each other if Toothless didn’t throw his head between you.
The Nigh Furry whines.
“Toothless what the heck?!”, Hiccup growls to him.
“Aww, are you jealousy, Toothless?”, you coo and give his snout a kiss. “You will always be my Sweetheart.”
“So I have a Night Fury as a competitor for your heart, great.”, signs Hiccup and gives you a crooked smile.
You smile shyly back at him. “There is no competition.”
His forest green eyes are wide and he gaps at you with a huge blush. You just giggle.
Toothless rolls his eyes at you two and growls.
“Okay, what’s wrong buddy?”, asks him Hiccup.
The Night Fury points with his snout at the darkening sky.
“Oh no, we have to return to Berk!”, yells Hiccup and stands up. The little dragons scatter because of this. “It’s high time!”
In record time you return to Berk, to the secret cove. Now that Hiccup and Toothless know how to fly together it is an amazing ride back.
Toothless already goes to your sleeping place, while you and Hiccup stand awkwardly at the entrance of the secret cove.
“Well, we see us tomorrow.”, Hiccup says and rubs his neck.
You play with your dress hemline.
“Yeah, sleep well then.”
You stare at each other like two idiots.
You are acting like idiots.
This pisses you off.
“Okay, someone has to say something.”, you tell Hiccup. “So I will do it. I like you Hiccup and that’s why I kissed you.”
For a few seconds, he is just a statue, till he takes you in his arms and plants a big kiss on your lips now. You formally purr and throw your arms over his neck.
You are both so pressed against each other that not even a little piece of paper could fit between you. Like this, you can feel all of Hiccup. This only motivates you to lick along his lips, till your tongues find each other and battle for dominance.
It’s getting so hot and that’s when Hiccup shoves you formally from him.
Surprised you blink up to him.
“Too much?”, you ask wondering.
Hiccup is breathing deeply and waving his hands in front of his cheeks to cool down.
“I like you too [Y/N], but I don’t think we are ready for more.”
You are a bit disappointed, you wouldn’t lie, but if he doesn’t feel ready you would not pressure him.
So you nod.
Thankful Hiccup gives you a sweet peck and with that, he is off to go home.
Meanwhile, you watch him leave like the lovesick fool you are.
You touch your lips and sign dreamy.
Hiccup is such a good kisser!
You can’t wait to share more kisses with him.

Happy Valentine’s day my lovely reader!
I hope you enjoy my Valentine’s gift to you all! :D
MINOR’S DON’T INTERACT!

Chapter 6: Only you, no one else
You are cuddled up to Toothless, the dragon nuzzling your cheek, while you scratch him under his snout.
Together you are waiting for Hiccup. It’s high time he comes from Dragon Training.
You wonder what is making him late.
“I will ask him, Toothless.”, you whisper to him like it’s a secret. “I will ask him to be my Mate and start a family.”
Practically, you want to ask in the mermaid way for Hiccup’s hand in marriage. Some land dwellers would say it’s way too earlier, but for your kind, it was only natural to go the whole way when you found your Life Mate.
It was incredible you found what your parents have.
Even with a human!
Who would have thought?
Toothless seems to like the idea because he gives you a big dragon smooch and purrs.
“You will be the best uncle to our children, I just know, Toothless.”, you tell him and give him a kiss on his snout.
The idea of little you’s and little Hiccup’s made Toothless purr even more. Of course, he would love your guys hatchlings like there were his own. He loved both of you so much.
That’s when you hear two voices discussing with each other.
One is Hiccup’s, and the second one is female.
“AAAAUUGGGHHH! Why would you do that?!”
“That's for the lies.”
It seems like the female hit Hiccup with something. You stand up and Toothless is right beside you. You can feel how your canines become sharper, hearing your mate in distress.
“And THAT'S for everything else.”
Hiccup yelps and both you and Toothless start to growl. You feel how your nails get longer and sharper.
Now you see the intruder.
It’s a young blond Viking woman with an axe.
She sees you two now too, but Toothless is the first to pounce toward her, snarling.
“Oh man.”, whines Hiccup who manages to stand up.
He doesn’t stay long up because the intruder dives onto Hiccup.
“Get down! Run! Run!”, she commandes.
The young woman pulls her axe, ready to take on Toothless.
“No!”. yells Hiccup.
That’s when you step in.
The water answers your command.
With a waterwhip, you hit away the axe out of the girl’s hand and hold then her hand in place, while you stop Toothless in his tracks with a stream that wraps around his body.
You hold your bending form and walk up to Toothless’s side.
You give the girl, who looks at you with fear, a cold glare and show your grown canines.
“What do you want from my mate and my friend, human!”, you hiss acid.
Even Hiccup seems to be taken back.
“You never told me you can do that with water.”, he blinks confused.
“It never came up.”
“What is going on?”, shrieks the intruder and tries to get her hand out of your water hold. It not working. “Who is this water witch?!”
“Mermaid!”, you correct angrily.
“Astrid.”, Hiccup turns so that he is between your and Toothless side and this Astrid sides. “You scared them, it’s okay.”
“I scarred them?! Your water I mean your mermaid is holding me hostage with water!”, she yells shocked.
Hiccup turns to you: “[Y/N], pearl, please let her go.”
You want to melt at the pet name, but you stay in your bending form.
“No, I don’t trust her!”
“She is a friend!”
You and Toothless snort at the same time. Yeah right!
“Please.”, begs Hiccp and gives you puppy dog eyes.
Damn you can’t resist them.
With a sign, you stop your bending, and the water splashes on the ground. Hiccup comes towards you two and puts a calming hand on Toothless’s neck, while he wraps his other arm around your waist.
You snuggle up to your mate and show this Astrid again your canines as she stares at you three in disbelief.
“Who are they?!”, she wants to know from Hiccup.
“Astrid, [Y/N] and Toothless. [Y/N] and Toothless, Astrid.”, he introduces you all to each other.
Toothless growls and you hiss at her.
You are so not charmed to meet her.
Astrid backs away, eyeing you, Hiccup, and Toothless together with pure disgust. She turns and runs for the village.
“We're dead.”, deadpans Hiccup.
Satisfied with Astrid's departure, Toothless and you turn away.
“Where do you think you're going?”, Hiccup wants to know.

You can’t believe Hiccup talked you and Toothless into it. You two are riding and flying with Toothless in search of this stupid Astrid.
You couldn’t care less but your mate insisted that it was important that the blond-haired bimbo didn’t reach his village and blab all about you and Toothless.
You rather would run away with Hiccup and Toothless!
Why did you agree to this again?
Right, because you loved Hiccup and trusted his judgment.
But one stupid move from the bimbo and you would decapitate her with a waterwhip.
No regrets on your side.
Your trio finally found her and Toothless snatched her up by one of her arms.
The blond-haired bimbo screams in fear: “Oh great Odin's ghost, this is it!”
You fly Astrid to the top of a towering pine. It bows and creaks under your combined weight as Astrid dangles a hundred feet in the air.
“Hiccup! Get me down from here!”, demanded Astrid from him.
You growl at her in a warning. She seems to shrink under your piercing glare.
Hiccup pats one of your hands on his side to calm you down. He is pretty damn sure that given the chance you would murder Astrid without regret.
You have told him in the days you passed together how protective mermaids could get for their mates.
He didn’t want you to murder someone for him. It made him just sick thinking about it.
“You have to give me a chance to explain.”, he implores Astrid.
“I'm not listening to ANYTHING you have to say!”
“Watch it, bimbo!”, you warn her hissing, canines poking out from your mouth.
It makes her shrink even more into herself. Someone isn’t used to getting intimidated by someone much more powerful. This gives you a certain glee.
“Pearl, please.”, whisper Hiccup to you, before a turns his words back to Astrid: “Then I won't speak. Just let me show you.”
Hiccup extends a hand.
“Please, Astrid.”
She eyes him, you and the dragon, then the ground far, far below.
After a moment, she swats Hiccup's outstretched hand away and reluctantly climbs over the pedal, lines, and harness. She settles behind Hiccup and you, avoiding as much contact as possible.
Yeah, you don’t really want her hands on you. You can’t guarantee that you wouldn’t bite them off. This woman lets your feral side out.
“Now get me down.”, she says to Hiccup.
“Toothless? Down. Gently.”
You and Toothless share a glance and nod to each other. You would give the bimbo a lesson she wouldn’t forget.
The dragon spreads his wings slowly. With a whop, they fill with the updraft. Toothless releases the tree tucks in his legs, and hovers in place.
“See? Nothing to be afraid of.”
Hiccup spoke to soon, Toothless suddenly launches straight upward. Astrid screams and you grin. The acceleration is tremendous. Every downbeat buck the saddle, heaving you into the sky, doubling your speed like a rocket.
Astrid is thrown backward. She screams more and hugs you for dear life, squeezing the breath out of you.
You fight the instinct to bite her hands off.
“Toothless! What is wrong with you?! Bad dragon!”, scolds Hiccup him. “He's not usually like this. Oh no...!”
Toothless rolls and plummets toward the coastline far below. You laugh happily at Astrid’s screams, Toothless is doing an awesome job. He rockets over the ocean waves, deliberately dipping you all in the froth.
“Toothless, what are you doing?! We need her to like us! [Y/N], say something to him!”, begs you Hiccup for help to get control over the dragon.
“Toothless, do the spin!”, you yell cheerfully.
He does as you tell him.
“Thanks for nothing you two, you are a great help!”, groans Hiccup defeated.
“Okay! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!”, shrieks Astrid regretfully. “Just get me off of this thing.”
Now that’s more you like it.
You give Toothless side a pet and you level off and head up into the clouds.
Astrid opens her eyes again and looks out over a world she'd never dreamed of. She reaches out and touches clouds, pierces columns ablaze in golden hues, and floats over a vast, alien skyscape.
You reach also a hand out, bending the water out of the clouds and letting the waterdrops fly in a beautiful arc over your group.
You hear how Astrid gasps in wonder.
It’s beautiful how the light reflects in rainbow colors in the water drops.
She grins, despite herself.
Toothless rises above a blanket of clouds and levels off under a starry sky. You emerge from a blanket of clouds under the dancing Northern Lights, shimmering in ribbons across the vast sky.
Below you, Berk's torches flicker in the inky darkness. The new perspective is breathtaking.
Toothless climbs past Berk's tallest peaks and heads out over open water, leaving the village lights behind you.
“All right, I admit it.”, breaks Astrid the silence over your group. “This is pretty cool. It's... amazing. He's amazing.”
Carefully she reaches down and pats Toothless' side.
“And you are pretty cool. Never knew mermaids could do such things.”, tells you Astrid fascinated.
Well, maybe she isn’t such a bimbo.
Even just a little bit.
You thank her simply.
“So what now?”, turn Astrid the word to Hiccup.
Yeah, you are wondering this too.
Hiccup groans.
“Hiccup, your final exam is tomorrow.”, she reminds him. “You know you're going to have to kill...a dragon.”
“That’s such a stupid and disgusting rite of age!”, you add angrily.
“Don't remind me, guys.”
A strange, unearthly din approaches. Toothless ear plates suddenly stand on end. Panicked, he abruptly dives, dipping into cloud cover.
“Toothless! What's happening? What is it?”, Hiccup asks him confused.
Meanwhile, you rub one of your ears. Something is making a strange sound and it vibrates in your head. Autsch.
“You all right?”, ask you, Astrid.
You can’t answer her since Toothless actually barks at you all in a way that clearly says to stay quiet.
Suddenly, out of the dense cloud, a Monstrous Nightmare emerges.
“Get down!”, whisper-shouts Hiccup at you girls.
Hiccup, you and Astrid duck.
The Nightmare calls out. A Zippleback appears on the other side of Toothless, boxing him in.
“What's going on?”, wonders Astrid.
“I don't know.”, admins Hiccup.
“You guys don’t hear it? There is a strange sound in the air. I can’t make it out what it is.”, you explain to them.
“Toothless. You've got to get us out of here, bud.”, declares the young man.
Yet the Night Furry just hisses at him.
Other dragons, previously invisible in the thick clouds, appear all around you. Hundreds of them, all carrying fish and game in their talons.
“It looks like they're hauling in their kill.”, whispers Hiccup.
The Zippleback eyes you ravenously.
“What does that make us?”, wants the blond-haired woman to know.
No one has an answer for her.
The dragons bank and dive in formation, plummeting through the thickening fog and weaving between towering, craggy sea stacks. They emerge at the base of a massive volcanic caldera, glowing with rivulets of lava. The flock of dragons fall into rank, funneling through a crack, and zipping through a winding tunnel.
It gives way to a vast, steamy inner chamber, tiered with pocky shelves. Dragons of all breeds lay about, nested in hordes.
The arriving dragons fly in, dropping the fish and game into a central pit, glowing red and shrouded in mist.
“It’s the Dragon Nest!”, you realize shocked.
So here live your dragon friends. There exist nicer places than a volcano. Why would they live here?
“What my dad wouldn't give to find this.”, signs Hiccup.
Toothless peels away from the procession, landing on a small shadowy shelf to keep a low profile. Hiccup, you and Astrid peek around, taking in the busy hive of sorts.
You watch on as the food continues to be dropped into the pit.
“It's satisfying to know that all of our food has been dumped down a hole.”, remarks Hiccup dry.
“They're not eating any of it.”, notes Astrid.
“I have a bad feeling about this. A really, really bad one.”, you share and bite your lips.
Now that you are in the Dragon Nest you can pit-point where the strange sounds come from.
It comes from the pit.
This couldn’t mean anything good.
And you would be right as a Gronkel spits a little fish into the pit and get’s rewarded by getting eaten by the biggest dragon you ever saw!
Your mermaid instincts formally scream to run and never return.
“By the seven seas!”
“What is that?”, adds Astrid terrified.
The monstrous beast sniffs the air, seemingly aware of you. It nears the ledge where Toothless is hiding and roars.
Several dragons take flight in fear.
“Alright buddy, we gotta get out of here. Now!”, commands Hiccup to Toothless.
Toothless listens and takes flight, barely evading the monster's snapping jaws.
The behemoth dragon lunges for you, snatching a Zippleback out of the air instead.
Your group disappears into the winged exodus as thousands of dragons flee the caldera in fear.

You are still reeling from the revelation of this giant ass dragon when you four arrive at the cove.
Astrid is talking yours and Hiccups ears off: “No, no, it totally makes sense. It's like a giant beehive. They're the workers... and that's their queen. It controls them.”
You touch down at the sandy ground and Astrid doesn’t waste time jumping down from Toothless.
“Let's find your dad.”, say Astrid to Hiccup, ready to return to their village.
Hiccup helps you down from Toothless since you wear a long dress and tucks you close to his side. Shaking you embrace him.
That giant dragon would haunt your dreams you were sure.
“No, no! Not yet. They'll kill Toothless.”, reminds Hiccup Astrid. “Astrid, we have to think this through carefully.”
Saying Astrid is astonished is an understatement. She gaps at you two. “Hiccup, we just discovered the dragons' nest the thing we've been after since Vikings first sailed here. And you want to keep it a secret? To protect your pet dragon? Are you serious?”
“Yes.”, Hiccup and you say as one resolute.
Astrid's taken aback.
“Okay. Then what do we do?”
“Just give me until tomorrow. I'll figure something out.”
“Okay.”
Then Astrid punches you and Hiccup in the arm.
“That's for kidnapping me.”, she tells you two.
You raise an eyebrow at her, while Hiccup looks at Toothless who snorts dismissively.
Next Astrid gives you and Hiccup a short hug.
“That's for, everything else.”
With that, she leaves.
“I don’t get this girl.”, you say to Hiccup. “Is that normal for a Viking?”
He wraps his arm around your shoulder and hugs you to himself. His head is put over yours and you hug him back.
“To be true I don’t get it either, pearl.”
You sign together.
Toothless comes over and joins your hug. You pet the Night Furry.
“Love, stay here tonight. We can think about something together to protect Toothless.”, you plea to him.
You can’t bear right now the thought to be away from your mate.
“You know what, this sounds good. I don’t wanna leave either of you right now.”
Toothless purrs, while you smile.
So a while later you and Hiccup lay under the bear fur he gifted you in the little cave you made your sleeping place.
Strangely Toothless didn’t join you guys and decided to sleep upside down like a bat on a tree.
Well, it would give you privacy to talk with Hiccup about other topics than how to save Toothless from the other Vikings.
Hiccup’s plan right now was to show the village that dragons were friendly while he should kill the Monstrous Nightmare in the Kill Ring.
It wasn’t the best plan, but the only plan were Toothless wouldn’t be exposed to the village.
You snuggled up closer to your mate, while Hiccup played with your hair.
It was a comforting and so domestic feeling.
You wanted to experience this for the rest of your life.
No time like the present, before all this with Astrid and the big bad dragon happened you wanted to ask him something important.
“Hiccup?”
“Mmh?”
“Do you want to be my life mate?”
He formerly turned into a statue and stopped playing with your hair.
You put your chin on his chest to look him in the face. He was blushing red and gaping.
“Hiccup, love?”
“D-Did d-did you just asked me in your mermaid way to marry you?!”, he stutters shocked in disbelief.
You nodded.
“Yes, I did.”
“W-Wait you mean also y-you w-want-“
“Your children? Yes, indeed I want that.”
Your mate turned so red you were worried for a second he would faint.
But he said in a tiny fragile voice: “A-Are y-you s-sure you want me? Like forever? W-What if you meet a nice merman and want him instant? Not that I would blame you, I’m just a hiccup.”
This broke your heart. Who made him believe he wasn’t worthy of love?
You would show him.
So you sat up and swung a leg over his waist. His eyes got big like a pufferfish.
He stutters your name.
“I love you, Hiccup.”, you purred softly. You touched your necklace. “I think, I loved you even when we were kids. That’s why I couldn’t decide which merman from my coven I wanted as a mate. I know this now.”
“Huh, what do you mean by that?”
You smiled and took off your necklace to give it to him.
“This was once a bracelet.”, you explained to him. “When I was a little girl I once visited Berk with my parents. It was a big festival. There I meet a shy, sweet, and intelligent land dweller boy who showed me his home, played games with me, and made me laugh till I couldn’t breathe anymore. As a goodbye gift, he gave me a bracelet he had made for me, while I wasn’t looking. I never asked for his name but…you both have the same green eyes. The same crooked smile. The same big heart. You are my first and last love, Hiccup, I’m sure. So….I’m yours too?”
You waited nervously for his answer. After spending so much time together you were pretty sure that Hiccup and your first land dweller friend were one in the same.
You just hoped he felt the same.
Hiccup played with the bracelet, seeming deep in thoughts, till he said: “I…I always thought that day…that I made it up in my mind. That I just dreamed that I found a friend…who liked me for me…but…you look like the little girl…the one I made this bracelet for…”
He looked up at you, tears were twinkling in his eyes.
“You weren’t a dream…you are real.”
You put your hands on his cheek and whipped away the falling tears.
“I’m real Hiccup. I’m not a fairytale. I love you, only you and no one else, I promise, for infinity. We can even get married in your land dweller way, I just want to be at your side and love you and love the children we will have together.”
The young man made a gasping sound, like he couldn’t believe someone could love him this much.
Still, he leaned up and gave you a quick peck.
“I love you too, maybe it’s crazy after a few weeks with each other, but I don’t want I live without you anymore.”, he told you smiling, even if he still cried. “You were the first person to accept me, you came back to me, you gave me your friendship and your heart…Yes, I want to be your life mate.”
“And I want to be your wife.”
You both meet in a passionate kiss which made you both moan out loud.
It was like fire.
Burning you from the inside and outside.
Only getting better, the more you kissed, the more you touched.
But at the same time, it fawned the flames.
You couldn’t take it anymore and stripped down your dress and undergarments.
You helped Hiccup out of his clothes and pants.
Kissing and touching every new part of him.
Worshipping him in the way he deserved.
This was your mate, your heart and soul, no one would take him away from you.
You throw your head back, enjoying Hiccups strong and deep trusts. One of his hands is on your hip the other goes to your cheek caressing it.
He closes his eyes in pleasure and moans. You shiver and kiss his hand, impaling yourself on his thick hard cock. Over and over again.
Soon Hiccup reaches his limit and comes.
He yells your name into the heavens and you feel his seed entering you, warming your womb.
You purr at the feeling.
You are still not ready to orgasm but Hiccup rubs frantically your clit to help you to get over the edge.
He swerves it’s the most beautiful thing in all the world to see you coming apart.
With a loud keen, you come and feel your own liquid splashing down on your joined parts.
It’s messy and sticky, but so damn hot.
Tired you collapse on top of Hiccup and you two share loving kisses in the afterglow.
For merpeople, you are married now and you couldn’t be happier.
Whatever would bring tomorrow…you would face it together.

I can’t believe I finally wrote smut.
Somehow.
Kinda.
I hope you all enjoyed it.
If not I’m sorry, I’m new at this.
Happy Valentinesday again my loves!

Making Waves

You are a young mermaid, not ready for your adult responsibility when you find a secret underwater tunnel that leads to a secret cove. You couldn’t imagine how your life was going to change because of it. HiccupXMermaid!Reader

Chapter 7: We can change the world
You hate to leave Toothless all alone in the cove.
You hated more that you couldn’t go with Hiccup to his village and watch how he shows his people the truth about dragons.
But you needed to do it.
It was high time.
So after weeks away, you returned to the underwater place your coven used as a home. You lived around a sunken old ship, in the underwater grottos.
You hoped you could return to your home to your parents without a fuss, but of course, your neighbors and friends saw you and swarmed you.
Your best friend hugged you tight and screamed for a solid minute about how you could vanish for weeks without a word!
You let them get it out, that’s when they got your scent and stared with big eyes at you.
When merpeople mated they had a special scent then on them.
You read in their face the question of who the hell you mated with.
That’s when your parents arrived and you gladly let them hug you till you couldn’t breathe anymore.
Your parents asked the same questions, mostly your mother, why did you leave without a word, where have you been, till they smelled you too.
Your father took both your mother and you by your hands and swam up to your home.
This was a family matter.
Your neighbor and friends could wait.
After you made yourself comfortable in your home you told them anything. When you finished your tale, your parent’s chins were on the floor.
“You found a life mate.”, your father said in shock.
“A human!”, your mother shrieked.
“A Viking no less.”, reminds your father.
“A Viking who made friends with a dragon!”
“A Viking who made friends with a dragon and is the next leader of his people!”
“Mom, dad, can you keep it down!”, you begged them.
You bet the whole neighborhood heard it.
“Sorry, my little dolphin, but this doesn’t happen often that our people mate with humans.”, tells your mom this and holds the hand of your father.
…Wait what?
“It happened before?”, you shriek now shocked.
You never heard that a mermaid or merman mated with a human before. You thought you would get in trouble because you mated out of your species, yet your parents were mostly calm.
“Ah yes, the last one was Marina. She was a childhood friend of mine.”, told your father this. “It was before the coven moved to these waters, she lives in a place called Italy now with her human mate and children.”
You just blink.
Huh.
“So you are not angry?”, you asked to be sure.
“Of course not, seastar. Sure if you mated with a merperson then you could stay here, but you can visit us.”
“And we will come visiting you and your mate and our grandchildren too.”, says your mother smiling and looking excitedly at your stomach. “Do you think you are already with child?”
You blushed and put your hands on your stomach.
“We only mated once…”
“Oh my little dolphin, your papa and I needed only two shots before I was pregnant with you!”
“MOM!”
“WOMAN, DON’T SAY SUCH THINGS OUT LOUD, THAT’S STILL OUR CHILD!”
Your mother just giggled at your horrific face.
Oh by the seven seas, you would not think about your parents doing that.
You shiver all over.
Nope! You have amnesia now!

In the end, you made your way back to the secret cove happy and glad.
Sure after talking with your parents, you had needed to tell the Elders of your coven about your mate and that you would now live mostly on land, but they took it pretty well.
Like your parents told you, you weren’t the first to mate with a human, so the Elders had experience with such a case.
They asked you only to follow a few guidelines.
Don’t tell anyone where the coven lives and only tell you are a mermaid if it’s really important and you trust this person.
So no problem that also Astrid knows about you.
If anything goes well you needed only to tell Hiccup’s father about yourself, so you could get married in the human way too.
What you would tell the rest of the village and when your parents visit you, you had no idea, you and Hiccup would take care of it when it was time, you decide.
Anyway, you arrived at the secret cove and called Toothless: “Toothless, sweetheart, I’m back!”
Strangely no Toothless came bouncing up to you.
Frowning you got on land and searched the entire cove.
The dragon wasn’t here.
Did Hiccup come earlier to the cove and took Toothless for a flight? Does this mean his plan worked?
You decide to get dressed, then you would check again for some clues.
You couldn’t put your finger on it, something just was weird.
It was like in the air.
You found a clue that made goosebumps appear on your skin.
A part of the high stones of the cove was filled with claw prints. Something, Toothless, who tried desperately to get out of the cove and succeeded.
“Oh no.”, you said. You started to run out of the cove. “Oh no!”
You didn’t care if Vikings spotted you as you raced to the forest following Toothless tracks.
Something terrible happened, your feeling was right.
That’s when you saw a familiar figure racing towards you.
“Hiccup!”, you yelled happily.
“[Y/N]!”
You both meet each other in a tight embrace.
“Are you okay? Are you fine? Where is Toothless?”, you fired one question after another checking your mate for injuries.
“I’m fine, but, oh pearl, all ended in a catastrophe!”
Hiccup told you how he was unable to show the village the truth about dragons. If it weren’t for Toothless your mate would have been toasted by a Monstrous Nightmare! Somehow your dragon friend had sensed that Hiccup needed him. The dragon protected him even against the villagers who wanted to harm actually the Night Furry. They capture Toothless and Hiccup told his dad the true why the dragons raided them. Just Stoick, Hiccup’s dad, didn’t listen to him how dangerous the giant ass dragon actually was and disowned his son also.
Yeah, your mate had a pretty shitty day.
After Astrid talked to him, Hiccup got an idea of how he could help his people who were sailing towards danger, but before he wanted to check on you.
He was happy that at least you were fine.
What he wasn’t so happy about was that you insist on coming with him.
“I’m going to fight the Red Death! Before a hoard of Vikings!”
“I understood you the first time, you can use my waterbending to aid you. I will waterwhip this bitch back to the hellhole it crawled out!”
“They didn’t react well at Toothless, I don’t want that they see you as a monster also when you throw water around. Also, your Elders told you to tell as few people as possible. Outing yourself to nearly the whole village goes against it!”, he argued.
“I’m pretty sure the Elders will understand that I did this to save our dragon friends from the Red Death! Please, I want to fight on your site. Together we are stronger!”, you plead and caressed his cheek.
He looked into your eyes and saw the determination.
“You would just swim after me, right.”
“Yup.”
“All right, then together!”
Your mate takes your hand and you run to the Kill Ring, not caring if someone is seeing you.
You can’t even take in the place as Hiccup makes haste to the Monstrous Nightmare's pen.
Suddenly you hear an unknown boy’s voice: “If you're planning on getting eaten, I'd definitely go with the Gronckle.”
You both turn around, you only recognize Astrid, but the other young woman and the three young men must be Hiccup’s fellow recruits from Dragon Training.
“Wow, who is the bombshell, who holds Hiccup’s hand.”, says the young man with black hair and practically salivates at you.
You frown and Hiccup gives him the evil eye.
Thankful Astrid hits his helmet and declares: “[Y/N], his girlfriend so hands off you all. She is cool, we can trust her.”
This seems to be enough to not get asked questions by Hiccup…friends? They take Astrid words without a doubt.
You smile thankful at her and she winks.
Yeah, definitely not a bimbo.
The long-haired blond young man steps forward with a scowl.
“You were wise to seek help from the world's most deadly weapon.”, he declares. “It's me.”
He gets shoved out of the way by the black-haired who called you a bombshell.
“I love this plan.”
Now he gets shoved by the other blond-haired young woman.
“You're crazy. I like that.”
You are ready to hiss at her, thankful Astrid comes up and grips her by the horns of her helmet.
“He has a girlfriend, Ruff. One who will do horrible things to you if you don’t lay off.”
“Sick!”
You can’t help but snort. These Viking young adults are a hoot.
“So? What is the plan?”, ask you two Astrid.
You and Hiccup smile at each other.
Time to make some dragon riders out of them.
Hiccup steps back from the door, drawing the Monstrous Nightmare out of its cave. It snorts, stepping into the ring, calmed by Hiccup's outstretched hand focused on him.
You see how the other Vikings are bewildered in awe. Well, okay Snotlout, you learned their names, nervously reaches for a spear laying near his foot, but Astrid stops him.
Hiccup slows to a stop in front of you all, with the Nightmare inches from his outstretched hand.
He reaches over and grabs Snotlout's trembling hand.
“Wait! What are you...”
“Relax. It's okay... it's okay.”, calms Hiccup him down.
He replaces his outstretched hand with Snotlout's, putting him in control of the massive beast. The Nightmare snorts but remains calm. Snotlout, by contrast, chuckles nervously it's at once terrifying and amazing.
The others watch, spellbound.
You smile at their faces. They look like children who saw magic for the first time.
While Hiccup searches for his friends something to hold on to the dragons, you let the other dragons out.
A Nadder, a Gronkel and a Zippelback.
Then you go over to Astrid and lead her to the Nadder. You have a feeling this two will do well with each other.

You are flying on the Nadder with Hiccup and Astrid.
The plan was that you and the gang occupied the Red Death, while Hiccup got Toothless.
As you arrive at the Dragon Nest and you can’t help but gasp.
The Red Death is already out, torched the ships of the Vikings, and now is hunting them.
Hiccup doesn’t waste time and asks the Nadder to attack the Red Death with her flames.
Kablam!
The blast explodes against the back of the Red Death's head. It turns distracted, as the Nadder punches through the flames, banking across the sky. Followed by the Monstrous Nightmare, the Zippleback, and the Gronckle.
The dragons roll in unison, revealing to the adult Vikings the recruits and you riding on their backs.
Hiccup, of course, leads and starts to give commands: “Ruff, Tuff, watch your backs! Move Fishlegs!”
The monster shakes off the blast and snaps in your wake. Hiccup directs your squadron out of harm's way. You climb out of reach and circle each other.
“Look at us, we're on a dragon!”, yells Tuffnut to the awestruck adults. “We're on dragons, all of us!”
“Up, let's move it!”, orders you Hiccup.
That’s what the dragons do, climbing past the Red Death. Your group circles over its head.
“Fishlegs, break it down.”, ask him Hiccup.
“Okay. Heavily armored skull and tail made for bashing and crushing. Steer clear of both. Small eyes, large nostrils. Relies on hearing and smell.”
“Okay. Lout, Legs, hang in its blind spot. Make some noise, keep it confused. Ruff, Tuff, find out if it has a shot limit. Make it mad.”
“That's my specialty.”, preens Ruffnut.
“Since when?”, wonders Tuffnut. “Everyone knows I'm more irritating. See.”
He follows this up by hanging upside down his Zippelback head.
“Just do what I told you.”, signs Hiccup exasperated. “I'll be back as soon as I can.”
“Don't worry, we got it covered!”, reassures Tuffnut.
“Yeah!”, adds Fishlegs.
Hiccup, you and Astrid peel away to search for Toothless. He has to be on one of the burning ships!
“There!”, Hiccup shouts and steers Nadder over the deck and hands Astrid the reins.
He lines up his jump and hops off, guarding his face against the flames. He lands on the burning deck.
You get ready to waterbend.
You make an arc-like movement, careful not to catch Toothless and Hiccup in the waves, and dose the ship with the ocean water.
At least the ship doesn’t burn anymore and this will give Hiccup enough time to free Toothless.
“Awesome pearl!”, yells Hiccup up at you.
“Mermaids for the win.”, can’t help Astrid herself to add.
You grin.
“Get Toothless, me, Astrid, and the Nadder will help the others.”
Hiccup nods and you girls fly up to the Red Death. You waterbend as much ocean water as you can after you in a long stream.
Astrid and you flie by on her Nadder, catching Snotlout in all his heroics by playing whack-a-mole with the Red Death eyes.
“Yeah! You're the Viking!”, tells him, Astrid.
Snotlout grins, finally vindicated in her eyes. In his distraction, he gets thrown, but thankful you are there and catch him in a waterstream.
Careful you take him to the ground away from the Red Death.
“Thank you, mermaid girl!”, he calls up to you.
Yeah, you had told the gang what you really were on your flight here. Better before they saw you waterbend, it would be a drag to explain later all this to the adults. Mostly to Hiccup’s father.
You nod and turn to Astrid: “Astrid, hold on tight!”
You go into another bending position.
“Hey, you ugly ass bitch how about this!”
You waterbend at the Red Death head the biggest waterwhip you have ever done. The giant dragon nearly falls to the side. You let the water return to you and attack again with the waterwhip. This time the bitch falls down.
“Awesome, [Y/N]!”, cheers Astrid.
Her cheer is short-lived since the Red Death stands up again and starts to inhale, preparing to blast.
You, her, and her Nadder get caught in the suction, pulled toward the monster's gaping mouth.
You try to waterbend, anything to help you guys, but the air circulation is too strong. You lose your grip on the water and it splashes down on the ground.
That’s when you hear the familiar whir of the...
“Night Fury! Get down!”, yells a Viking.
A massive blast jolts the Red Death's head sideways.
Astrid and you are thrown clear of its mouth and her Nadder.
You two can grip each other hands and you try with your free hand to reach for the ocean water, so you don’t end up as pancakes but you don’t have to worry since you get caught by the leg.
You look up to see Toothless.
“Sweetheart!”, you nearly cry happily.
He gives you his cute toothless smile.
Hiccup and Toothless fly over the crowd of Vikings and set Astrid and you down.
They circle back to reengage a black speck against the clouds.
“Go.”, whispers Astrid after them.
“End this.”, you add quietly too.
You feel how Astrid squeezes your hand and you squeeze back.
You stay by her as you watch Toothless and your mate fight the Red Death with anything they got.
You pray to the seven seas that both return to you.
In the end, they must have sent a plasma blast into the Red Death’s mouths since it hits the ground, head-first. It explodes in the biggest explosion you ever saw.
Dust and ashes are twirling around the Vikings, who watched with you, and your form.
You all watch in horror as Hiccup and Toothless disappear into the boiling inferno.
“HICCUP!”, your scream and want to run but Astrid holds you back, hugging you tight.
“No, [Y/N]! That’s suicide!”
“BUT I NEED TO GET TO HIM!”
“I promised Hiccup, I would keep an eye on you and I will do so!”
You try to break out from her embrace, but Astrid is much stronger then you. Defeated you wail on her shoulder, hot tears running down your cheeks.
He can’t be…
He can’t be…
No of the two can be…!
While for you your whole world breaks done, Stoick searches for his son.
You get thrown out of your despair when you hear Stoick call that Hiccup is alive.
This time Astird lets you go and you run up with all your might to your mate.
Toothless lays on the ground tired, Hiccup is in arms of a big man, you bet his father and another Viking stand beside him.
You hear how all the Vikings and dragons cheers, yet you are only fixed on your mate’s still face. He breathed, at least that.
“HICCUP, TOOTHLESS!”, you fall on your knees between the dragon and the large Viking who held your mate.
You pet Toothless with one hand, who gives you a tiny purr and with your other you stroke Hiccup’s head.
Tears of pure joy stream down your face.
They are okay, they are okay!
You thank the seven seas for that.

Your head nearly hits Hiccup bedframe as you try to stay awake.
It’s been a week since the battle with the Red Death and your mate hasn’t woken up.
You healed him up every day, every hour.
You couldn’t bring back what he lost in the battle, but you could help him to recover faster.
Toothless is curled up beside your chair, his head on your lap, and purrs at you.
“Don’t start.”, you mumble to him. You know what he wants to say. “I will sleep when he wakes up.”
You hear the now familiar footsteps of a large Viking coming up to you and feel a big hand laying on your shoulder.
“Toothless is right, lass.”, says Stoick. “Using all your forces to heal him and not recover any will do you no good.”
You look up at this man, who a week ago didn’t even know what you were to his son, and see real concern for you.
The one you show a child.
Or a daughter-in-law, in your case.
“I know, father, but it I feel so helpless seeing him like this. I just can’t leave him.”
Yes, after you explained to Stoick anything, it was normal for you to call your father-in-law also father. Merpeople did this.
He caressed your head and shook his.
“Stubborn, just like my son. No wonder he loves you so much.”, he mussed and you turned shy. “But, lass, what do you think Hiccup would want from you?”
That was simple.
“That I go to bed and sleep.”, you sign.
Annoyed you stood up and made your way over to the door.
“I will sleep for a while at the port, then I will be back.”, you promised.
With that, you open the door.
It still filled your heart with joy to see Hiccup village transformed into a dragon sanctuary.
Everywhere were dragons and dragon riders. Humans and dragons lived in perfect harmony together.
You smiled and waved at the people who recognized you.
Saying you were pretty famous on Berk was an understatement.
You couldn’t even step out without getting crowded by the Vikings.
This time they let you go to the port faster. An old treasure chest where your clothes would be kept till you return was placed there just for you.
After undressing you dive down into the water. Not even on the ocean ground and you fall asleep before your head even hit the wet sand.
Okay, maybe you were more tired than you let on.

You sleep for a long time. The lull of the water relaxes you and makes you forget for a time all your worries.
You start to awake as you hear a ruckus on the surface.
Yawning, you stretch yourself and then swim up to see what that is about.
There is a crowd around Stoick and Hiccup house!
This can only mean…!
Faster then lighting you jump out the water, get dressed and run up the hill to the house. The crowd makes space for you.
“HICCUP!”, you shout joyfully seeing him awake at his front door, his father and Gobber beside him with the other Vikings.
His face formally brightens as the sun as he sees you running up to him. Thanks to his new protestic he doesn’t dare to run, but he can come towards you.
Hiccup spreads his arms calling your name in the sweetest voice, when you are finally, finally back in his arms.
Happy tears roll down your cheeks and your lips find each other hungrily.
Hoots, hollers, and cat-calls are heard around you, but you two couldn’t care less.
You are finally together again.
No one would separate you.
“Okay, okay, leave something for the wedding night you two.”, calls Stoick fatherly over.
That’s when you both realize that maybe you kissed a bit too much in front of the whole village.
You stop and bury your head into Hiccup’s chest, while Hiccup’s face is red as a tomato.
A sheepish laugh comes out of him.
The whole village coo at you two.
You dare to look and see first Astrid huge grin and Ruffnut thumbs up in your direction.
Yeah, the two girls gave you great company while you waited for Hiccup to wake up.
Playful you poke your tongue out of them.
That’s when Gobber walks up to you and presents Hiccup with a rebuilt saddle, rigging, and tail.
“Welcome home.”, he simply states.
Suddenly, Toothless pounces on the crowd, crushing several unsuspecting Vikings under his weight.
“Night Fury, get down!”
Toothless eyes the new tail excitedly, tongue wagging. Amidst the groans and grumbles, Hiccup and you exchange a sheepish grin.
“Oh, sweetheart…”
It doesn’t take long that you and Hiccup are back on Toothless’s back, ready to reach for the sky again. Astrid is beside you on her Nadder she named Stormfly and smiles at you two.
“You guys ready?”, ask Hiccup you and Toothless.
You hug his waist tighter and put your chin on his shoulder. You give his cheek a kiss, while Toothless snorts an excited 'yes!'.
“Let’s go, love!”
From his mount, Hiccup looks out over the changed world.
This... is Berk. It snows nine months of the year...and hails the other three.
Your trio leaps into the bright blue sky, Hiccup and Toothless together as one. Astrid follows suit, giving chase.
Any food that grows here is tough and tasteless. The people that grow here are even more so.
Hiccup and you and Astrid race your dragons through the village under eaves, over rooftops, down cliff-sides, and between ship masts. You shout happily into the sky and raise a fist.
The only upsides are the pets. While other places have...ponies or parrots, we have...
The gang joins you as they take to the open sky, rocketing far above the village. The Northern sky swirls with blazing, multicolored dragons. Hiccup, you and Toothless break from the pack, spinning into the blinding sun.
Hiccup turns his face to yours and you share a passionate kiss, Toothless crooning approving.
Dragons.

And we are done with the movie!
I’m so happy!
I will write now one original chapter and after that, we will have Gift of the Night Furry :D
I can’t wait for it, what about you guys?

Chapter 8: Wedding Bells
Two weeks later after Hiccup woke up it was time.
You looked in the mirror and couldn’t believe how good you looked in the wedding dress, the kind Viking woman of Berk did for you.
Since merpeople didn’t use clothing and neither you nor your mother know how to sew the mothers of your Viking friends volunteered to make you the dress.
You had a pretty flower crown on your head with pearls braided in your hair, thanks to your mother.
The dress was white, with a square hemline and long sleeves. Wave motives were stitched on the bottom of the dress, to never forget where you came from.
A white fur was placed as a cape on your shoulders.
Golden bracelet on your arms and a golden necklace was your jewelry.
You saw how your parents came up behind you. They also wore festive Viking garb since it was your wedding day.
Your mother gripped one of your hands and your father wrapped his arm around your shoulder.
Together you three looked into the mirror.
Your father had tears in his eyes, your mother smiled brightly and you were formally vibrating with excitement.
Then it began.
Your father led you through the festive and celebrating crowd to the stone mural where Viking weddings were held.
You saw Hiccup in his own wedding attire. Your heart stopped nearly, how dashing he looked in it.
He was looking at you like you were a goddess, tears streaming down his beautiful green eyes.
Beside him was Toothless who gave you his best gumless smile.
You saw how Stoick and Gobber were trying to stealthy wipe away their tears but failed miserably.
You couldn’t help it and smiled more.
This was so…amazing.
You reached Hiccup at the altar and your father put your hand in his.
You both stared at each other with loving eyes, gripping your hands tightly.
Gothi the village elder put a ceremonial cloth over your joined hands and touched it then with her staff.
You were now married.
Hiccup put a hand on your cheek, while you leaned in and you two kissed under the eyes of the whole Viking village and also your coven.
The celebrating crowd was so loud only to be triumphed by Toothless exiting shooting a plasma blast into the sky, that rained down on you guys in pretty sparkles.
Ah’s and oh’s were heard.
You couldn’t care less.
You just kept kissing Hiccup till you couldn’t breathe anymore.
After your long kiss, Hiccup picked you up, bridal style, and twirled you around.
Your happy laugh could be heard over the cooing crowd.

Now that dragon killing was over, there was one thing Vikings were good at.
At this was making party!
The plaza was full of dancing couples, laughing friends, excited dragons, and tables full of dishes.
You and Hiccup were dancing too, it was like when you were children once, just this time you were much better with it.
You couldn’t help but note how well your new Viking family and your coven got along together.
Okay, you saw some of your following merpeople scratch themselves because of their clothes, yet anybody got along swimly.
Fishleg told excited a group of your friends all about dragons.
Astrid was actually dancing and you swerve flirting with a female friend of yours.
Snotloud had an arm wrestling competition going on with some of your male friends.
Ruff and Tuff entertained with their shenanigans some of the little merpeople children you had babysat on occasion.
Toothless was enjoying scratches and treats from your best friend.
Stoick and Gobber had a drinking competition going on with your parents. Your mother was the only one who still could stand and laughed in triumph over the groaning males.
You pointed this all out on Hiccup.
He just picked you up and twirled you happily around more.
You were two worlds.
Now one family.

The second time you slept with each other was in your brand-new house. Since Stoick was still chief, he stayed at the house where the chiefs lived and till Hiccup took over you would live in this house.
But Stoick had told you, he would give Hiccup and you time before becoming chief and chieftess.
You should enjoy the first years of your marriage without stress and maybe raise your first child in peace.
Hiccup and you were more than okay with that.
Your house was big enough for you two, a Night Furry, and for at least two children.
But tonight it was only you two in the house.
So no one would wake from your moans and Hiccup growls.
It was just the second time you had sex, but Hiccup already picked up a few tricks.
He rubbed your clit in time with his deep thrusts. Making you a moaning mess.
You practically felt how your wetness was drooling out at your pussy. Making dirty squelch sounds in time with the thrusts.
“Harder!”, you begged him. Arms wrapped around his neck. “Oh, Hiccup harder please!”
“Anything for you.”, he huffed, capturing your lips in a messy kiss and pounding into your flesh-puffy walls with eagerness.
You keened and stretched his back in pleasure.
Yes, this was it!
Just like that!
Suddenly you get flipped around so you are on your hands and knees.
Oh by the seven seas, this angle drives Hiccup cock only deeper into you!
You grip the bedsheets with your hands. Your head is through back and you moan shamelessly
“Fuck, pearl, aah!”, curses Hiccup, which turns you on more. You never heard him curse. You feel how you drip more out of your hole. “You are so tight and wet.”
You can feel how your orgasm is fast approaching, so you whine and impale your pussy hard and fast against Hiccup cock.
“Fuck, Hiccup!”, now you curse too.
That is when he gives the biggest and hardest thrust which brings you finally over the edge.
You scream his name so loud that you worry for a second that the neighbors hear you, but it is nothing against the amazing feeling as Hiccup shoots his semen into your willing and greedy pussy.
You coming made him come too.
Tired you both fall down on the mattress, Hiccup careful he doesn’t land on you.
You both breathe hard and smile at each other like the lovesick fools you are.
“Wow.”, you say together and laugh.
“Much better than our first time.”, hums Hiccup and puts a bit of hair behind your ear. “This time we come together.”
You hum too, then decide to sit on Hiccup’s lap.
He says your name questionly.
You lick your lips and get help from the pleasure shiver that rakes your body as you see how hungry Hiccup follows this motion.
“What ya say Viking-Boy you ready for round two?”, you purr seductively.
The harding dick which pokes your ass now is answer enough.
Nonetheless, he growls back: “Give me your worst, Mermaid-Girl.”
And that’s what you do for the rest of the night.
You both fall asleep as the sun rises.
No regrets on either side.

A few days later you are throwing up in a bucket.
Hiccup is holding your hair out of your face, while you probably leave all your guts in the bucket.
You hear Toothless croon worried, but the Night Furry doesn’t dare to come near you. You have a feeling he doesn’t like the smell of vomit.
Well, who would?
When you are sure you are done, you lean heavily back on Hiccup who cradles you carefully.
“I’m never drinking Yak milk again.”, you proclaim.
How in the seven seas the twin got you even to taste it you still wonder.
Hiccup kisses your sweaty temple.
“Come on, I will bring you back to bed.”
“But don’t you need my help with training the dragons?”
“The gang will help, my beautiful wife needs her rest more. Besides I’m sure tomorrow you will feel better.”
You don’t feel better tomorrow.
Or the next day.
Or the next, next day.
A whole week of throwing up makes you march up to Gothi to see if the Viking healer knows what’s up with you.
If she didn’t you would ask the healer of your coven.
Strangely the idea to transform into your mermaid form doesn’t sit well with you.
You wonder why.
So you explain to the old wise lady what is wrong with you. She touches your stomach, makes some other weird tests, and then she has a diagnosis for you.
You faintly hear the voice of your mother in your head as she told you, she and your dad only needed two shots to get pregnant.
God fucking dammit.
Great, now you think about that again.

“Pregnant?!”, yells Hiccup who seems in utter disbelief.
Meanwhile Toothless is nosing your stomach and grumbling at it. The dragon seems very excited.
Your husband is in shock.
“I know, it’s a bit too early.”, you admit sheepish and pet Toothless head. “But we wanted kids.”
Hiccup falls beside you in your bed, caressing your cheek.
“Of course, pearl, I’m just…wow.”
You see the tears in his eyes before they can fall.
“Come here you big softy.”, you coo at him.
Hiccup hugs you side ways, mindful of Toothless snout on your stomach, and cries happy tears on your shoulder.
With your other free hand, you pet now Hiccup head.
You are happy your boys took it so well.
And you can’t wait to meet your child in nine months.
You hope he or she will look like Hiccup.

Of course, I had to write the wedding night, now I wrote my second smut!
I hope it was better.
And yeah we are having a baby, place your bets on what it’s going to be! :D

Chapter 9: A Snoggletog to remember
A few months later the winter arrived on Berk.
All was under the pretty white blanket of snow. Making the village look magical.
You experienced for the first time snow on land and it had been a hoot. You, Hiccup, and the gang had actually a snowball fight or more of a war the other day as you admitted that you never have done something like this before.
Of course, the guys had been mindful of you, you were nearing the end of your pregnancy, and the baby could be born any day now. That didn’t mean you hadn’t waterbend waves of snow at them.
It had been an amazing day.
You and Hiccup even build a little snowman family before your house with a dragon, symbolizing you two with your to-be-born baby and Toothless.
The dragon had cooed at his snow doppelganger. He seemed pretty happy with it. Toothless was such a sweetheart.
But right now, he was been a little pest.
It was early morning, you and Hiccup cuddled up under the blankets of your bed and groaned together at your dragon who banged on your rooftop.
“Don’t go!”, you whine to Hiccup, embracing him by the shoulders, your huge stomach didn’t allow for more.
“You know he won’t stop till I go flying with him.”, he reminded you, giving your forehead a kiss. “You know I would rather stay here with you in the warm, but Toothless is family too.”
“Of course. I just miss flying with you guys. Till the baby is born, I can’t come with you.”
Hiccup placed a lot of kisses on your face, while he caress your stomach. You giggled cutely under the affection gesture.
“I speak for Toothless and me, that we miss flying with you too, but remember, Gothi said one week or two more weeks tops, then our little bundle of joy should be born.”
“All right, all right.”, you hummed.
Your lips found each other sweetly.
“Now go, before Toothless storms into the room.”, you tell him playfully.
Hiccup steals another kiss and gives your stomach one too before he gets dressed to meet Toothless outside.
You sign happily.
Who would have thought this would be your life one day?
To say you are happy would be an understatement.
You caressed your stomach and decide to get some more sleep. You fall asleep again with a small smile.

The snow follows your hands moved gracefully, you arch and spin how much you can with your pregnant belly and create beautiful snow sculptures around the village plaza.
The little children are oh-ing and ah-ing at you. You smile at them and bend the snow so that it falls down on them in snowflakes. The little Viking children laugh, trying to catch them with their tongues.
You feel all warm seeing the joy in their eyes.
You can’t wait when you can play with your child like this.
“Good job, [Y/N].”, you hear Astrid say to you. She comes up behind you and wraps an arm around your shoulders. Stormfly, her trusted dragon, noises delicately your stomach.
You lean on her and pet Stormfly’s snout.
Who would have thought that after the first time you meet, you both were now good friends?
“You and Stormfly did a great job with the tree and the shields too.”, you compliment them.
“Well done. Well done, all of you!”, you hear your father-in-law call out to you all. Gobber is with him. “I've never thought I'd live to see this day. Peace on the island of Berk. This will surely be the greatest holiday, we've ever seen!”
Everybody, human and dragon, cheer happily.
Suddenly all the dragons start to get tense, Stormfly even stops cuddling Astrid and you.
“What the...?!”, wonders Stoick, like all of you.
What is going on?
The sky of Berk is filled with dragons of all kinds.
“What in Thor's name?!”, adds Gobber.
One of the village Monstrous Nightmares let out a loud roar, which the other village dragons answered, and one by one they start to take off and join the other dragons in the sky!
You and Astrid hold each other by the arms.
“Where's Hiccup?”, asks Astrid.
Since he was the first dragon rider, she logically thinks he knows the most about dragons.
“He is flying with Toothless.”, you answer her. “They should be back soon!”
That’s when also Stormfly decides to join the flying dragons.
“Nonono! Don't leave, Stormfly, don't go! Please?”, begs Astrid her Nadder, but her dragon doesn’t listen to her.
You hold Astrid’s shoulders in comfort and look around worried. You also don’t know what this all means. Dragon and merpeople have been friends since forever, but you never experienced this or heard about this from the Elders of the coven.
Finally Hiccup and Toothless land back on the island. Your husband jumps from his dragon, while you waddle up to him.
“Hiccup!”
“[Y/N]!”
You take each other hands.
“Hiccup! What's going on?”, comes Astrid after you. “Where are they going?”
The whole villages assemble around you guys. Questions get asked left and right.
“Why did they leave?”
“What's happening?”
“Will they ever come back?”
“Stop! Wait!”, Hiccup asks for room to breathe.
“One after another.”, you suggest.
Thankful Stoick comes for you.
“Calm down! Give him a chance to speak! Hiccup, where are all our dragons going?”
Your husband looks sad at his father, while you squeeze his hand.
“Dad... I don't know.”
There you hear how it seems that Stormfly is trying to encourage Toothless to fly with them away, but your dragon of course can’t because of his tailfin.

A while later the whole village is at the Great Hall.
You are sitting on a chair, Hiccup beside you holding into your shoulders, you holding one of his hands and rubbing with the other your stomach. The baby seems to feel the sad and nervous energy and is kicking you.
The gang is around you two and you all listen to what the older Vikings discuss.
“Where'd they go?!”
“Snoggletog is ruined!”
“It's not ruined!”, contradicts your father-in-law. “We're Vikings! We've been perfectly happy celebrating without dragons for generations! And there's no reason we can't do it again! Now we don't know where they've gone off to. But we have to have faith that they'll be back again soon. Am I right?”
“You're right, we are Vikings! We are tough!”, agrees Gobber with him, while not really looking Viking-like with all the shiny bells and baubles attached to his arm and helmet. “Most of the time...”
It’s like you all agreed on, you and the gang walk out of the Great Hall, in the meantime, Gobber tries to get the other Vikings to sing Snoggletog songs.
Out in the streets, you hold into Hiccup’s arm and walk with the gang in a line.
“That was depressing...”, says Ruffnut, what you all thought.
“I know! I was looking forward to spending the holiday with Stormfly.”, signs Astrid sadly.
Strangely Fishlegs is whistling a happy tune. What is up with that?
“What are you so happy about?”, wonders Tuffnut too. “Don't you miss Meatlug?”
“Me? Oh! Yeah!”
Fishlegs lets out the fakest sobs you ever heard.
“I miss him so much!”
Not a second later he wishes you all a good night and formally runs home.
With your free hand, you point at him.
“I’m not the only one who thinks this was fishy.”
Agreeing nods from everyone.
“I’m with, mermaid-girl.”, expresses Snotloud.
Yeah, he never stopped calling you that and probably wouldn’t. Not that it got on your nerves.
“I've got an idea!”, tells you Astrid suddenly excited. “Let's come up with a bunch of new holiday traditions! You know, to bury the sadness!”
Ruffnut, Tuffnut, and Snotlout groan at that.
“Actually, Astrid might be on to something.”, states Hiccup.
You nod.
“Keeping our minds occupied can help us till the dragons return.”
Tuffnut scoffs: “Easy for you two to say. Your dragon can't go anywhere without you. One of you needs to fly him always.”
At this, you and Hiccup look for Toothless and find him on a cliff looking pretty sad.
Your poor sweetheart…
“Must be nice.”, adds Ruffnut sarcastically.
You and Hiccup look helpless at each other. What could you do for Toothless?
After you both retire to your home, you both brainstorm together. That’s when Hiccup gets a brilliant idea and you applaud him.

The next day you sit on a chair watching your husband working on his idea in the blacksmith stall.
“[Y/N], Hiccup!”, you hear Astrid call for you two.
“We are here, Astrid!”, you call back.
Your friend enters the blacksmith stall with a tablet with two mugs on it which smell disgusting! You wrinkle your nose.
Whatever that is you wouldn’t taste it!
“Here.”, she hands you both a mug. “Happy holidays, from me to you both, or three should I say.”
She makes a kissy face at your stomach, which makes you giggle and rub your belly.
“Thank you, 'Strid!”
Hiccup thanks her too and when she turns to him to see what he is working on you fast throw the beverage away. You wouldn’t have your future child taste that!
“What are you up to, Hiccup?”
“Okay, you're gonna think I'm crazy, but me and [Y/N] just couldn't stop thinking about what Tuffnut said last night. Toothless can’t come and go like the other dragons, and that's just not fair. We were up all night and I think I found a way to fix that.”, explains Hiccup to her.
He shows Astrid the new tail fin and takes a sip of the Yaknog. Realizing how disgusting it tastes, he's unable to swallow. You bite your lip to not start laughing out loud. You should feel bad for your husband, but his face is just hilarious!
“No way! You built him a new tail?”, gasp Astrid surprised. “So he's gonna be able to fly without you or [Y/N]!”
“Hmhm!”
“Wow, what a great gift!”
“Hmhm...”
“What if he never comes back?”
“Mh...”
That’s when your amusement turns into dread. Toothless, your sweetheart, never to return to you and Hiccup?
“What am I saying? Of course, he will!”
“Mhm!”
“Well, I'm going spread some more holiday cheer! See you guys later!”
With that Astrid runs off again. Once she gets far enough away to not notice, Hiccup spits the Yaknog onto the floor.
Now you can’t help but laugh.
“You could have warned me!”, he growls playfully to you.
“And miss the show? Now you know how I feel with morning sickness, Mister!”

Hiccup and you walk to your house with the new tailfin, where already Toothless is on the roof jumping up and down, dislodging shingles.
“Toothless! Come on down, bud, we have got something for you.”, your husband calls to him up.
The dragon leaps down and approaches. He sniffs, curious.
“What do you think, sweetheart?”, you ask him.
He is more interested in what Hiccup's holding than what you guys say, follows the fin as Hiccup tries to line it up with his tail.
“Would you just settle down? Toothless, come on bud, let me get this on you.”
“Be a good boy.”, you join and hold his snout in your hands.
Toothless croons at you in question, while your husband closes the latches on the fin.
“Yeah, you are going to love this. Okay?”, tells him Hiccup.
For the time being Toothless seems really confused about what he has now on his tail. He roars, swinging his tail around wildly.
You and Hiccup try to calm him down.
“Easy sweetheart! It’s nothing dangerous! Just stay calm!”
“No, no! Toothless, stop. Please, wait. Toothless, please!”
The tail unfurls by itself. Toothless freezes, wide-eyed. He tests the new tail, gears whirring as he sweeps his wings in and out.
“There you go.”, says Hiccup. “See? Got it?”
Toothless stares deeply into Hiccup's eyes, a kind of animal communication both familiar and feral. Hiccup stares back. You look confused between the boys.
What is going on?
Questioning Hiccup says the dragon’s name, when Toothless turns, push off the ground and into the sky!
Hiccup and you watch shocked as he files away and disappears into the clouds.

Three days.
For three days Toothless was missing.
You and Hiccup were worried to death.
And Hiccup even more so because you were pregnant and the stress was not good for the baby.
That’s why you visit this early Gothi to do a quick check-up on you. You let Hiccup sleep in. He didn’t catch any sleep over the last three days worrying about anything.
The old Viking woman told you to relax, with the baby all was good, but you wouldn’t make the situation better by worrying over Toothless so much.
But you couldn’t help it.
You loved Toothless too.
Yet you would try it for your child.
Signing you sat at one of the piers of the village looking into the ocean. How you wished to take a dive and visit your parents, yet it was forbidden to change forms when one was pregnant.
It was not good for the unborn child.
That’s when you see a familiar Gronkel having a very familiar passenger on him flying over you.
“Hiccup?!”, you shout surprised and stand slowly up. “Where are you going?!”
“I have no idea...!”, he shouts back.
“Meatlug!”, the familiar voice of Fishlegs shouts. You turn in his direction. “What about presents? Hey!”
Curious about what Meatlug was still doing here on Berk and what Fishlegs had to do with it, you waddle up to his shed.
The others are here too and Astrid seems to scold Fishlegs.
“You can't believe him? You kidnapped your dragon!”
“That makes it sound so mean.”
You rub the spot where your baby is kicking you and turn to Snotloud.
“What’s going on?”, you ask.
“Apparently Fishlegs hold his own dragon prisoner so he couldn’t fly away, mermaid-girl.”
“Damn!”
“Guys!”, shouts Tuffnut for all of your attention.
He and his twin are kneeling before a haystack. They seem to have found something interesting.
“Whoa, Meatlug barfed up a pile of rocks!”, yells Fishlegs surprised as the twins step back.
Lying in the hay are a dozen or so small, blue, rocky spheroids. Astrid grabs one and holds it up.
“You're such an idiot. Those aren't rocks. Your dragon laid eggs.”, corrects him Ruffnut.
“Hey, wait.”, calls Astrid in between. “I bet that's why the dragons left. To lay their eggs.”
“That makes actually a lot of sense. A lot of animals wander to different places to have their young. Why not dragons too.”, you agree, a finger on your lip, thinking out loud.
“But boy dragons don't lay eggs.”, disagrees Fishlegs what Ruffnut said.
“Yeah, your boy-dragon is a girl-dragon.”
“Okay. That actually explains a few things.”
You snort quietly at this. Did Fishlegs never check Meatlug’s gender?
Astrid pops up in front of you guys and dashes off.
“Hey! Everyone's missing their dragons, right?”, ask Astrid rhetorically.
Snotloud groans at this: “Ugh, here it comes.”
You hit his side with your elbow and he whines and rubs at the hurting spot.
Astrid snags a ribbon and wraps it around the egg.
“I've got an idea. It'll be another new Snoggletog tradition!”
She presents you with the Gronkel egg with the pretty red ribbon around it, like a gift. She explains to you all her plan and you can’t help to get excited.
This sounds so wonderful.
So you and the gang sneak out of the shed, arms full of Gronckle eggs with red bow ties. You break apart, each heading for a different section of the village. Each of you sneaks into a Viking home and places your eggs in an empty Snoggletog helmet.
After you have finished you all meet up at the village plaza.
“Wasn't this a great idea?”, asks you, Astrid.
“Uh-huh. Everyone is gonna be so surprised!”, answers her Fishlegs.
Suddenly you all hear a loud explosion.
Before you can even wonder what it was a baby Gronckle bursts through a nearby door in a ball of fire, hitting Fishlegs on the head and knocking him back.
“Surprise!”, yells Snotloud cheerily to the fallen Fishlegs.
You all crowd around the little baby Gronkel, while Snotloud and the twins coo at it, you and Astrid stare at the baby and then at each other.
“The eggs explode?”, you say together shocked.
A second Gronckle bursts out of an attic. Another one through a house's roof.
“The eggs explode!”, you both scream.
This will not end well!
And you will be right because the exploding eggs spread fire and chaos among the whole village. Vikings run, yelling, from their houses, into the town square.
“I'm sorry! Sorry!”, apologizes the blond.
“We didn’t know!”, you add and twitch at another explosion with flying baby Gronkel.
A ball of fire bursts through a roof, leaving a giant hole. Another Gronckle soars past the tip of the Snoggletog tree, setting it alight.
“Save us!”, one of the Vikings yells.
One by one, as if on a timer, three houses explode in a row. Gronckles crash through the Snoggletog tree, ripping off wood and lighting giant patches of fire.
Astrid and you are paralyzed with fear. The others watch in awe.
“Awesome.”, declares Ruffnut.
“Wow.”, comes from her twin brother.
“This is your best idea yet!”, compliments Snotloud Astrid.
Your father-in-law and the other Vikings crowd around the Snoggletog tree, which is slowly burning to the ground.
“What in Thor's name is going on?!”, Stoick demands to know.
“The eggs explode.”, you and Astrid explain together again.
The final egg explodes in a house behind you.
Astrid and you wince.
This was a catastrophe!

A dozen or so baby Gronckles lie sleeping beside a house. Vikings are walking across the town with wood and supplies, helping each other clean up.
You also helped and dosed all the fire you could find with ice.
That is the last you could do for being partially responsible for the destruction of your home.
You sign and look into the night sky.
You wonder where Hiccup is and when he is coming back.
You would really like to get a hug from him.
At this moment you see a dark figure appear from behind the clouds. Wondering you join the other Vikings who are all in the plaza and try to see who it is.
It's the mast of a Viking ship. Held up by hundreds of flying dragons. And piloted by a very familiar Viking.
“Hiccup! It’s Hiccup!”, you yell happily seeing your husband well.
“And our dragons!”, adds Astrid excited.
The crowd cheers. The ship drops lower and lower in the sky until it crashes down onto the icy ground of Berk. The ship scrapes to a stop in front of the crowd.
The dragons release the ropes holding it up.
Baby dragons emerge from all over the ship to an aww-ing crowd. You and the gang run up to meet them.
“Love!”, you call for your husband and find yourself back in his strong arms.
You both kiss each other sweetly, while your friends and neighbors are greeting happily their dragons and the babies.
“I hope I didn’t worry you too much pearl.”, asks Hiccup, after your kiss.
You play with one of his little braids and smile sheepishly. “Me and the gang nearly let whole Berk explode, so I didn’t have time to worry.”
“What?!”
That’s when Stoick comes up to you two and lifts you together in a giant bear hug.
“Well done, son.”, he chuckles.
“Thanks, Dad.”
“Everyone, grab your dragons.”, calls Stoick. “To the Great Hall! We finally have something to celebrate!”
Vikings and dragons cheer together.
It's a giant party, lit by the glowing candle-balls and decorated with shields and wreathes. And best of all, the dragons are with you.
Hiccup has his arm around your shoulder, you lean on him and have your arm around his waist and watch the others with a smile.
Fishlegs hugs the baby Gronckles. Snotlout jumps back as his baby Nightmare releases a burst of fire. Kids play with a tiny Zippleback. A young girl squeezes a Terrible Terror into a hug.
You see how the smile of your husband fades.
You know what he is feeling. You feel it too.
“Love.”, you start and turn his head to you. “You did something amazing today. You brought anybody dragon back and saved the holiday. You are amazing.”
You pull him into a loving kiss and hug him tight as you can with your pregnant belly in between.
“Oh pearl, where did Toothless go?”
“I don’t know, I miss him too. We just have to believe he will return to us.”, you mumbled to him and give his cheek a kiss.
Very quietly, the Great Hall door opens and closes behind Hiccup, drawing your attention.
Toothless peeks into the hall!
You gasp happy, tears spring from your eyes.
“Hiccup, turn around!”, you beg your husband.
He does it with a raised brown to see the Night Fury run up to you two.
“Toothless! Hey, bud!”
“Sweetheart!”
You both hug the dragon around his neck. Your dragons seem to enjoy greatly the affection.
“Bad dragon! Very bad dragon!”, Hiccup lets go of Toothless and scolds him, while you cross your arms and nod. “You scared us to death. Don't ever stay away that long again. And what is in your mouth?”
Toothless deposits a very slimy Viking helmet onto Hiccup's head. Dragon saliva drips down into Hiccup's hair.
You and everyone who saw it happen gag at this.
“Yeah, you found my helmet.”
It takes Hiccup a second to realize what that means.
“Hey! You found my helmet! That's where you've been? Buddy, thank you. You are amazing.”
“You are the best boy in the world, my sweetheart.”, you coo.
Together you embrace your dragon again.
Everybody is happy and Astrid shouts: “Happy Snoggletog!”
Suddenly you feel how water drips down your legs. Frowning you let go of Toothless and hold your stomach.
Something is happening…
“Pearl? What’s wrong?”, ask you Hiccup worried, even Toothless croons at you.
“The baby…”, you stumble and hiss at the pain you start to feel. “The baby is coming!”
“The baby is coming?!”, shouts Hiccup shocked.
Toothless looks at you wide-eyed.
The whole crowd repeats what Hiccup said.
“YES I’M HAVING A BABY!”, you shout angrily and hunch over from the pain. “OH BY THE SEVEN SEAS IT HURTS LIKE A BITCH!”
You can’t even look that fast, as Hiccup picks you up and puts you on Toothless.
“Gothi, where is Gothi?!”, yells now your husband in a panic.
Calmly the old Viking woman walks up to you three and gestures for you to follow her.

After hours and hours of the worst pain of your life and threats to Hiccup that you would never again have sex with him if he put you a second time in this agony, your child was finally born on the first hours of the new day.
It was a pretty little girl.
She had your skin color but came clearly after her father.
Her father who sat beside you on the bed, holding the babe in his arms, staring at this daughter in wonder and crying silent tears.
You just watched the two silent and happy, petting Toothless who was sitting on your orther side, cooing at the infant.
“She is so beautiful.”, Hiccup whispered and kissed her tiny forehead. “I can’t believe, that I got to have something so beautiful. That this is my life. With you and Toothless and now her.”
You hummed and stroked his head.
“You are okay with her name?”
“Yes, it’s perfect, since she comes from both worlds.”
You put your head on his shoulder, Toothless right behind you, and looked down at the most precious thing in the world. You would have killed for Hiccup, you would destroy the whole world for her.
“Then welcome to the world Katara Valka Haddok.”
Katara, named after one of the greatest waterbending mermaids from your childhood stories, who had been your hero growing up and Valka for the mother Hiccup never knew but missed the same.
You had a feeling she would be something special.
Not because she was your daughter.
No, because she was her father’s daughter, you just knew it.

This time when Toothless wakes you up, Katara is sleeping between you and Hiccup.
Normally newborns don’t give their parents much sleep, but Katara liked to sleep. It was more of a hassle getting her to drink milk from you.
The baby babbles, while Hiccup kisses her forehead and then your lips.
“What do you say? Do my girls want to join the morning fight with our Toothless.”, he asked playfully.
You giggle. “As long daddy doesn’t jump from the saddle and does other tricks why not.”
You had missed flying with Toothless and Katara would be one day a dragon rider too, so why shouldn’t she already experience flying?
After you three get dressed and Hiccup puts Katara into a backpack-like baby transporter he invented, so she can be strapped on the chest or the back, you make your way out of your house to Toothless.
Katara is strapped on your chest and coos at the black dragon who waits for you on the ground.
Strangely Toothless has pulled out the old tail and saddle in front of him. He looks between them and Hiccup.
“Toothless, what'd you pull this out for?”, wonders Hiccup. “You don't need this anymore. Come on, let's get going.”
Toothless groans, and walks around Hiccup, gesturing again to the saddle and tailfin.
You want to say something, but you feel your boys have to understand each other alone, so you just caress your daughter, while you watch on how Toothless destroys his new tail and makes Hiccup understand that he only wants to fly with him.
Your husband looks at you, you smile back and Katara babbles at her dad.
With a big smile, Hiccup turns to Toothless.
Winter in Berk lasts most of the year. It hangs on with both hands and won't let go. And the only real comforts against the cold are those you keep close to your heart.
You are up again in the sky and can help your happy shout. Katara seems transfixed with these new sensations.
Hiccup makes Toothless fly higher, towards the sun, while the dragon croons happily.
You all were together again and your family just got bigger.
Turns out that was the best Snoggletog ever. Not only made I an awesome gift for my best friend and he gave me a better one, but no my wife also gave me the greatest gift of them all. A beautiful daughter.
Katara waves one tiny hand around trying to reach for the clouds. You kiss her head.
Hiccup turns around and looks at you two with so much love in his eyes.
I could never imagine that one day I could be so happy. And I’m so thankful for all this. All because I made friends with a dragon. I will never not be grateful for that.
You smile back at him.
Your first Snoggletog has been a wild ride, you can’t wait for many else to follow.
With the men you love, the dragon who is a part of you, and a daughter who owns all you are and ever be.
And so your little family flies into the unknown future.
Full of possibility and new memories.

The End!
I'm so proud that I finally finished a fanfic! :D
I hope you enjoyed the story as I enjoyed writing for it.
I hope you like the name I gave our daughter, in honour of Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender one of the most badass female characters in TV stories, and how I describe her looks, she is a little Hiccup just with the skin color you the reader have .3.
Update 09/05/2024: I decide to end the story here, so no second movie and third, since I lost interest in continuing.
I hope you understand.

Growing up with dragons, Y/n became something like one. He didn't have wings or a tail, but he had the scales, teeth, and appetite of one. Not to mention his aging stunted. His body adapted to live with these glorious winged reptiles as he made his home in their nest. He was stuck, at the age of 2, living with these dragons for 10 years. These dragons would try to provide him some education; bringing him books from the vikings boats they had shot down. The dragons all cared for Y/n as their own, and he loved each of them dearly. All dragons knew him as the Dragon King. No dragon would defy him, not even the babies. Y/n would fly with them and would act like them. But after those 10 years, Y/n wanted to explore and figure out what made up vikings and why they would hurt the creatures he cared so much for. With the help of 2 night furies, whom he had befriended over those 10 years, they brought him to an abandoned ship and Y/n had sailed away. After a few months of sailing, his boat crashed into Berk, and he became a part of their community as he tried to understand the reason they killed those he considered family.

The world was different for the boy that lived in the icy nest with the Alpha dragon. He was considered royalty among the rest of the winged creatures, and they all loved him dearly. Even outside the nest, dragons would flock all around to help him. He was found on a boat, abandoned by the rest as an infant. The boy was saved by two night furies that had brought him to the dragon nest.
The two didn't stay for long, but would come by to check on him. Y/n had spent two years learning how to act like the dragons. They would all take turns to care for the boy and Y/n would take care of them. Y/n would start helping out with raids as he rode one of the many dragons, usually commanding them what to grab and what to do. Even if he looked two years old, Y/n was a powerful soul.
After returning to the nest after the most recent raid, Y/n called out to the sky in hopes that his night fury friends would hear his call. The gods had answered his prayer as two pitch black dragons flew down and looked down to the h/c haired boy. Y/n's e/c eyes gleamed with excitement as he quickly got onto the e/c eyed night fury. The three of them flew up into the blue sky, Y/n grinning wide. The two dragons opened their mouths to shoot into the air, causing Y/n to giggle and kick his legs.
One of the shots was right in front of Y/n, and he screamed out in excitement as his face was covered in smoke and his hair slicked back. Y/n leaned his body down onto the dragon he was riding as he stroked his head. The other night fury made jealous grumbles as he flew right below the other. Y/n smiled at him and walked off the e/c eyed night fury, slipping down its wing to be caught by the green-eyed night fury. Y/n hugged the dragon, feeling so content at the moment.
“I love you guys so much. I promise I won't let anything bad happen to you.”
Y/n then roared out into the sky as it rumbled through the wind. The roar sounded like a dragon, as others roared in response. Many other dragons had flocked around the night furies and Y/n commanded them forward just as a king did to his subjects. They all followed as the green-eyed night fury took the lead, with Y/n still riding him, guiding them to a pool of fish. Y/n pointed down at the pool, causing all the dragons around to dive and catch their food.
“Everyone go eat! And save some for the other's back home!”
All the dragons growled in agreement as they all caught various amounts of fish. Y/n then instructed the night fury to fly down with the other dragons as Y/n collected as much fish as he could. Once the fish in the ocean were gone, Y/n had everyone fly back to the nest to feed the others. On the way Y/n snacked on one of the many raw fish he caught, sharing some pieces between the two night furies. The night furies dropped him off in front of the nest as he walked in with a deadly nadder.
He was so excited to share what he got with his huge dragon family. Y/n walked deeper into the icy nest, and to get all the dragon's attention he did his dragon call. It echoed throughout the whole nest, as all the dragons turned their attention to the small boy. Some dragons flew down to crowd Y/n, curious to what he had brought. Y/n jumped up and down in excitement, even if this was a daily thing.
“Time to eat! I brought everyone food!”
Y/n held up the fish he got and threw all the others to the expecting dragons. They all roared in delight, thanking the small boy for the food as he went to where the baby dragons were flying. He loved watching how carefree they were, even if they could be annoying sometimes. The baby dragons had found Y/n and started to pull him to their small nest. The parent dragon that was taking care of them today tried to pull the babies off of Y/n, but he insisted it was fine.
This was a daily occurrence, and Y/n loved feeling wanted by the babies. They only ever listened to him, as did all dragons, but the babies were a special case because they listen to no one. Y/n sat down in the nest with a baby Hideous Zippleback sitting in his lap. The other babies tried to push and shove the baby dragon, but Y/n held his hand up to stop them. The other babies stopped as the Zippleback cuddled into Y/n's small lap.
“You will all get your turns little ones, just a bit of patience.”
Y/n then started to pet and preen the Zippleback as its two heads caused small sparks of happiness. Y/n loved when the dragons had a small fiery reaction to him just being there. It was much how the night furies were when Y/n rode them in the sky. Y/n giggled as some sparks caught onto his hair, panicking the overseeing dragon. A big dragon paw hit Y/n’s face as the overseeing dragon pat out the small fire that started on Y/n’s h/c hair.
As Y/n helped clean the Zippleback, a baby monstrous nightmare and snuggled up to Y/n’s side. The other baby dragons saw this and all piled Y/n, causing him to fall back to the ground. Y/n was slightly suffocated by all the weight on his chest, making the overseeing dragon panic once more. Y/n was flailing in the pile, trying to breathe while the overseeing dragon pulled the babies off. The babies started to whine as they tried to get back onto Y/n, only to be stopped by the overseeing dragon.
Y/n couldn’t help but burst out laughing at how needy the baby dragons were. The overseeing dragon bumped into Y/n’s back, making sure he was okay. He slung the dragon’s head over his shoulder and started to stroke its nose in hopes of calming it down. The baby dragons all flew away to go do whatever the gods know what, and Y/n’s waist had been trapped by the overseeing dragon’s tail.
Y/n leaned into the overseeing dragon as one of its wings were draped over Y/n's lap. Y/n marveled at all the dragons that flew around the nest seeing how happy they looked. He closed his eyes with a soft smile, leaning deeper into the dragon that was cuddling him. The same zippleback Y/n was cleaning had placed itself back onto Y/n’s lap and fell asleep. Many of the other baby dragons had done the same, creating a cuddle pile.
This was the routine Y/n had lived by for ten full years, and he couldn't complain. There was this itch in his brain that he couldn't ignore, however. The other dragons had noticed the way Y/n looked at himself in the reflection in the water, and the majority conclusion to help was to steal books and items from the ships they looted. On usual raids, Y/n would only ever ask the dragons to steal food and help the other dragons that were trapped. On these raids, Y/n never went as the dragons claimed them to be too dangerous for him to join, but it was all because they wanted to bring these books and items back as presents.
Y/n had read through each and every book he had ever received from the dragons. Over the next five years he had memorized each and every page. The information felt so new to him, this was the other half of who he was. A viking brain and a dragon heart, both making him tough through and through. One book scared him though, the dragon killing book.
He knew that vikings had killed dragons, but he never wanted to admit it. He wanted to believe his dragon friends were safe from harm. But out in the open world, Y/n could only do so much. Y/n had wandered out of the nest and onto one of the rock formations connected to it, watching the dragons fly away to do whatever they wanted. Y/n then stumbled as he felt a gronkle nudge him closer to the edge.
Y/n started to panic the closer he got to the edge of the water, not wanting to get wet. Y/n heard the frenzy of dragons flying above him, a boat being pushed closer to Y/n. The boy was left confused as he looked at each and every dragon. A monstrous nightmare had brought Y/n his books and tossed them into the boat, pulling Y/n into it soon after. Y/n stood at the edge of the boat as all the dragons of the nest flew out and stood around the boy.
“What’s going on? Is everything okay?”
The dragons all roared out in response, a low flame from their mouths lit up the area. Y/n finally understood what was going on. This was a farewell to Y/n as they all kept roaring. Y/n felt tears drip down his cheek as he was finally able to go out and explore. Y/n started to push the boat as he waved to the dragons.
He couldn’t help but cry as he was leaving his home, his family. Y/n started to sail slowly away, but his boat started to rock slightly. He looked over the edge of the boat to see scauldrons helping him push his boat along. His tears dripped into the water as one scauldron rose its head out of the water to lick Y/n and gently squirt semi warm water on his face. Y/n giggled as his tears mixed with the salty seawater.
Y/n had sailed like this for a month, before the scauldrons had to leave to find food elsewhere. Y/n understood and waved them off, as he was now alone. His boat floated in the sea, in no particular direction. All Y/n had were his books, so he decided to reread them over and over. Sometimes he would pass other viking’s ships and hear them singing, intriguing Y/n.
He picked them up and would hum these sea songs to himself whenever he got bored with the books he read. He sailed for about two months, or what seemed like it because Y/n had no sense of time. It was dark as the moon reflected the moonlight. Y/n was laying on the boat’s floor as he slept soundly. Y/n’s boat suddenly crashed into a nearby rock formation, destroying the front of the boat and making it sink.
The sound of crashing had alerted the chief of the island Y/n had crashed on. He ran toward the location and saw the boy almost being consumed by water, his books completely drowned and surrounding the boy. The chief dove into the icy water and brought the small boy to the shore. He called a few men to save the books while he pulled the small boy out of the water. Y/n yawned as he stretched his small arms and looked at the man holding him with his e/c eyes.
The chief looked at the boy with a raised eyebrow, curious as to how such a small child sailed here all by himself. It concerned the muscular man, and the others that had now surrounded the chief. The chief’s wife ran up and saw the boy he was holding, taken aback that such a young boy had crashed into Berk. Y/n looked to the chief and then to the woman that had stood right next to him. He had seemingly no concern for almost drowning.
“Where am I? And who are you all?”
The chief sighed in relief and put the small boy down on the floor as he stood by himself. The group of people were amazed by the boy surviving in the frigid water after crashing. The chief’s wife knelt down and checked the boy for any wounds, as if she was his own mother. One of the chief’s greatest friends that had a peg leg and a hooked hand joined the group to see the boy. The chief knelt down next to his wife and put his large hand on the boy's small shoulder.
“You are on the island of Berk. And where might you have sailed from?”
Y/n thinks for a moment to try to think of a place to say, but he can’t think of any. Y/n looks up at the chief, messing with the hem of his shirt. The chief had tilted his head in curiosity, trying to make sense of the boy’s actions of trying to self soothe. The chief’s wife kept her hands tenderly on the boy’s cheeks and looked at him with gentle eyes. Y/n felt an odd sense of comfort here.
“I do not know where I came from. I just sailed from the open ocean until I crashed onto this island.”
The group that surrounded the boy started to murmur themselves in whispers they thought Y/n couldn’t hear. Y/n looked around the group with curious, childlike eyes that could melt any soul into a puddle. But those very eyes held that of a dragon's. The chief's wife saw it in the boy, the soul he had and she was enthralled. The chief had a questioning look on his face, trying to find any reason why a young boy like the one in front of him would have sailed all the way out here on his own.
"I see. Well, I am Stoick the Vast. You have landed on Berk."
From that point on Y/n became apart of Stoick’s family. He was treated as just another Berkian by everyone else, even though his view on dragon hunting was different. Time went on, and Y/n became incredibly close with the village’s smith, Gobber. The two were a colorful duo, Y/n indulging in Gobber’s stories and Gobber teaching Y/n about dragon history as well as inventing.
Stoick found the pair to be quite troublesome, but found it endearing nonetheless. Stoicks’ wife loved Y/n as if he were one of his own. She saw eye to eye with y/n about not wanting to hurt dragons and seeing no reason for it. Y/n was seemingly able to win everyone over.
After three years, people began to notice the lack of Y/n aging physically. Many tried to ask the boy, but he always managed to dodge the question. It always made Y/n really uncomfortable whenever he was asked. He just found his new family, there wasn’t anything that would pull him away from it.
It unsettled the chief, but Y/n never seemed to be affected when eating the raw fish so he tried to keep his worries low. In his mind the child was odd no doubt, but having Y/n with him for so long Stoick got attached. Stoick then decided to make it a rule for the village to never question Y/n’s habits or lack of aging.
Stoick had noticed Y/n’s uncomfortable feelings around the questions pertaining to his lack of physical aging, but there were more things he had noticed about the boy. Whenever Y/n would eat, his teeth would show, and they seemed sharper than normal. Not only that but Y/n only seemed to have a craving for fish, raw.
Over the three years of staying in Berk, Y/n tried his hardest to convince people not to hurt the dragons. It happened so often, the other vikings started to think Y/n was crazy. No one said that to his face though out of fear of Stoick’s wrath. Stoick tried to explain the reason for hunting dragons over and over but Y/n never accepted those reasons.
Things changed however, when the chief had a son. His birth son who was named Hiccup. Y/n was excited because not only was it someone who he could connect with at his age, but another person to his found family. Hiccup also changed Y/n because as soon as he was born, Y/n started to age physically.
The two boys grew up together, Y/n teaching Hiccup about the world and following Stoick everywhere to learn about the history of Berk. Hiccup found a passion with dragons, watching them from afar and seeing his father hunt them. Y/n noticed this affinity and decided to nurture it.
Y/n told Hiccup all that he knew about dragons, even things that other vikings never knew. Many considered the information to be made up or embellished, but it had Hiccup hooked. The two explored and did everything together. Y/n metaphorically attached himself to Hiccup, going everywhere Hiccup went.
As the two aged, both were considered weird and different. Albeit for different reasons, but they were reasons nonetheless. It was another thing the two boys connected over. Being outcasted by the village and having differences that others didn’t agree with.
When Hiccup was busy, Y/n found himself at the forge. Y/n’s other friend was Gobber. He loved helping him with inventions and weapon building. It became a pastime for the two to create new weapons and learn how to improve old ones. Gobber was another best friend to Y/n.
The closer Y/n got with Gobber, the more the urge to tell him about his past grew stronger. Gobber seemed to notice Y/n’s hesitance around him and the little slip ups when Y/n spoke to him. Eventually, Gobber decided to question the boy’s behavior. Both were in the forgery, working on weapons for the village.
“Mind telling me what all this talk of living with dragons means?”
Y/n immediately dropped the weapons he was working on, onto the floor. Fear crept up into his heart and he looked utterly dumbfounded. How did Gobber find out? Well to Y/n’s obliviousness, it was Y/n’s own fault.
Y/n turned around slowly, but kept his head down. Gobber raised an eyebrow at the boy’s behavior, but kept his silence. He wanted to hear the full story, he wanted to know about the boy’s past. It felt only right to Gobber that he knew based off how long Y/n’s been around him. Y/n took a deep breath and decided this was the time.
“It means how it sounds. Before I crashed onto Berk, I lived with dragons. I was raised by them. They taught me how to fish and survive. But then I left and well you know the rest after that…”
There was an uncomfortable silence between the two. It was only interrupted when Y/n went back to the weapons he dropped. The clanking of the weapons being placed on the table sounded more deafening as Y/n waited for a response from Gobber. Y/n’s mind raced with all the terrible what if scenarios.
“Well that's certainly on par with my dragon stories, wouldn’t you think?”
“Huh?”
That wasn’t a response Y/n was expecting at all. Sure, Gobber had his own tales of adventuring and such, but comparing it to Y/n’s was something the boy didn’t quite understand. Gobber only laughed at Y/n’s confusion and proceeded to tell him stories of how he lost his leg and hand. This ended up taking half the day and no new weapons were made.
The forgery were full of shared anecdotes and laughs. Y/n felt safer than he did before with Gobber knowing his secret. One thing that still plagued Y/n’s mind though was if Gobber was going to tell Stoick. Gobber noticed Y/n’s shift in mood once more.
“What’s on your mind, kiddo.”
Y/n stiffened once more, caught off guard with how perceptive Gobber was. It honestly astounded Y/n that he was, but he also remembered how close Gobber was to Stoick and all the battles the two fought with each other.
“You’re not going to tell Stoick are you?”
“Tell Stoick what, exactly?”
“My past… What I had shared with you.. Can you please not tell Stoick?”
Gobber had nodded, understanding Y/n’s unease with the chief knowing Y/n’s true past and who he really was. Albeit his past did explain Y/n’s strange behaviors and his defense for dragons, but Berk’s chief is one who is not as open-minded. After that, the two went back to chatting and just sharing stories once more.
Over the years, Y/n grew up in this new world as a viking. Learning and training, but not to hurt dragons. No, but to defend them and his found family from them. Y/n would convince Stoick to have Hiccup help with Gobber in the forge, much to Stoick’s dismay and concern. Hiccup would learn how to invent things with Y/n always by his side.
Y/n’s new home was not ready for Y/n, however. The gods seemingly having different plans for the boy. One faithful night would prove that Y/n’s two worlds of vikings and dragons would converge. Be it for better or for worse.
