Percival Valley (M!MC) x Garreth Weasley
Summary: The Yule Ball is approaching, and two boys are having very platonic moments in the Room of Requirement as Percival teaches Garreht how to dance.

"So, Percy," Garreth spoke up casually. Unfortunately, Percival knew that fake tone of voice, and knew that it heralded a question he'd been trying very hard to avoid.
"I'm not going to the Yule Ball with you," Percival replied. Garreth gasped and pressed a hand to his heart.
"Oh my darling, you wound me so," Garreth said and Percival just rolled his eyes. "Come on, please? I don't have anyone to go with. All my other friends have dates."
"Go with Idris," Percival suggested. He paused long enough to find the specific star he was looking for and mark it on his chart. He was regretting letting Garreth join him in the Room of Requirment to study. "They'd be happy to go with you and cause whatever chaos you want."
"Idris is going with Amit," Garreth said. "They asked him earlier on the way to Potions."
"Well then, that's unfortunate for you," Percival said. Garreth huffed and crossed his arms like a pouting child, even kicking his heels lightly on the floor. Percival sighed and begrudgingly put his quill down. "Have you considered that by going alone, anyone else there alone may just ask you to dance?"
"If I could dance, maybe," Garreth grumbled.
"You were begging me to go with you to the Ball and you don't even know how to dance?"
"I assumed you wouldn't know how to dance either, and then I wouldn't have to."
"Merlin's beard," Percival sighed.
He tucked away his Astronomy Chart and stood from his seat. He took off his robe and Garreth just looked at him with wide eyes like he was insane. Percival kicked his chair.
"Stand up," Percival ordered.
After another moment of bewildered staring, Garreth got to his feet. Percival waved his wand and the potions stations, herbology table, and desk in the middle of the floor shot to the walls instead. Then he closed his eyes and focused on the Room around him, specifically what he needed it to be. Sure enough, a soft symphony of piano and violin began playing from somewhere around the ceiling.
"I'm so confused," Garreth said.
"Gryffindors," Percival rolled his eyes and held out his hand. Garreth continued to just stare at it. Percy couldn't imagine why, Garreth had a habit of just snatching his hand whenever he pleased. "I'm teaching you to dance, Weasley. Give me your hand."
Garreth hesitantly took Percival's hand and Percival lifted both of their hands. He stepped closer so only a few inches separated them and placed Garreth's other hand on his waist. Garreth looked like he was about to explode or melt down into the floor as his eyes kept darting down.
"Relax, I'm sure it won't be too embarassing," Percival snickered. "I'll lead to teach you but in these positions you should be the one leading. That's what the hand on my waist is for, so you can guide me."
"Right, yeah, guide you," Garreth nodded. "Because you always listen to me."
"There's a first time for everything," Percival shrugged and put his free hand on Garreth's shoulder. "Just follow me. One foot at a time."
Percy stepped forward with his left foot and waited till Garreth stepped back with the right foot. Then to the left, then back, then to the right.
"Oh its just a box," Garreth nodded to himself. "Then that's not hard."
"You lead then, just mirror what I showed you," Percival said. Garreth nodded again and did his best to repeat what Percival had shown him, but as they tried to go to the side their feet got tangled together. Percival cursed and grabbed onto Garreth's robes as the other boy looped his arm fully around Percival's waist to hold him up.
"Maybe you should show me a few more times," Garreth chuckled sheepishly. Percival laughed and shook his head fondly. He shouldn't be surprised, honestly. He let Garreth pull him back to his feet.
"Even if you're leading you still have to follow your partner," Percival explained. "You have to know what they're doing. In reality you're following each other, rather than one or the other."
Percival lead Garreth through the steps, explaining as he went what each movement meant, where to start, and where to end. Garreth for once didn't speak, just listened with rapt attention.
"Okay, I've got it this time," Garreth decided. "My turn."
Garreth stared down at their feet as he slowly lead Percival through the steps. It was a bit awkward and janky but they had yet to trip over each other and Percival couldn't help a small proud smile as he watched Garreth carefully take each step. Garreth glanced up at him and caught the smile before Percival could fight it off and immediately a grin bloomed across his lips.
Garreth pulled Percival in closer by his waist, so close their chests would be pressed together if Percival breathed too deeply. Percival just rolled his eyes and adjusted his position so his arm was around Garreth's shoulders. The actual box step had been completely forgotten but with how Garreth was holding him Percival found he didn't care. He was perfectly happy to just let Garreth lead him wherever they danced, easily following the slightest nudges against his waist or tugs of his hand.
"This isn't proper form at all," Percival informed him.
"Yeah but this is more fun," Garreth replied. How could one person's smile be so bright? "See?"
Garreth stepped back just far enough he could lift their hands and twirl Percival around. Percival was laughing before he even realized what was happening and was still giggling when Garreth caught him and put his hand on Percy's waist again.
"Percival Valley actually having fun?" Garreth teased. "I feel like I just saw a baby unicorn."
"Who said anything about having fun?" Percival replied. "I was just caught off guard. Don't get too full yourself."
"Uh huh, definitely," Garreth smirked.
Before Percival could brace himself for whatever was going to follow that smirk, Garreth stepped one way and threw Percival the other. Garreth used their still joined hands to twirl Percival back to him, so Garreth was stood against his back with both arms around Percival's waist.
"Okay, that was smooth," Percival admitted.
"I've seen people dance before," Garreth said. He hooked his chin over Percy's shoulder to flash that grin at him again. "Just didn't know how. But I got plenty of ideas."
Him being so close made Percival's neck warm which also made his heart race. How did one person have such high body heat? Shivers traced his spine and Percival tried to push aside the feeling to focus on Garreth's words. Once he did he groaned.
"Garreth Weasley do not dip me."
"I'm gonna dip you."
Garreth spun Percival back around and dipped him, one hand holding his and the other arm securely around his waist. Percival knew he should probably be nervous but he just gave Garreth an unimpressed look.
"I'm not pulling you up until you admit you're having fun," Garreth decided.
"So it's my stubbornness versus your strength?" Percival snickered. "I know which I'd place my bets on."
Garreth groaned in such an exaggerated way it could only be described as theatrical. But he obliged and pulled Percival back up to his feet. Once he regained his balance he tried to tell himself to step back but his feet didn't move. Instead all he could think about was how Garreth had pulled him so close their noses nearly brushed. It occurred to him that the slightest tilt of his head would bring their lips together and for the slightest moment that thought played out in his head. Neither of them moved and neither of them met each other's eyes.
Then Percival remembered himself and he stepped back, busying himself with putting all the furniture pushed aside back into its proper place. Idris had put way too much care into decorating the Room for Percival to just leave things laying around willy nilly.
"Well at least you pick things up fast," Percival managed. "You're not a horrible dancer, Weasley."
"And you're not a horrible teacher," Garreth replied. "I uh, I guess I should get back to my common room. It's getting late and...stuff. I'll see you in Magic Theory in the morning?"
"Yeah," Percival nodded, still determinedly avoiding Garreth's gaze so the Gryffindor wouldn't see that Percival's face was the color of his tie. "Tell Idris I said hi."
Garreth left and Percival had to resist the urge to slam his head into a nearby wall. What the hell was that? Garreth was touchy, Percival should be used to this. It was just the dancing. It reminded him of his sister. Nostalgia. That's what it was.
But why did he feel so cold now?

Hogtober Day 1 - Ollivander's
Word Count: 723 Characters/Relationship(s): Percival Valley Setting: 6th year, Ollivander's Genre/Tags: Fluff, blatant disregard for how magic works

“Mr Ollivander?” Percival called into the seemingly empty shop. He heard a crash and Ollivander arrived around the corner with a wide grin on his face.
“Ah, Mr. Valley!” Ollivander waved him inside. “Come, come! Dud you bring what I asked?”
“Uh yeah,” Percival nodded. The 6th year pulled out a large dragon hide pouch he'd decided to use for transport just in case. “I'm not sure why you need an erumpet horn. They're extremely volatile.”
“Not to worry, I have plenty of protections in place,” Ollivander assured him. “Hm, yes, yes this should work. Perhaps you could help me.”
“I'm not really a Beasts expert,” Percival pointed out. “That's more Idris's thing.”
“Not with any beasts,” Ollivander waved him off. “Come with me.”
Ollivander led him to the back of the shop where there was a desk littered with various woods and tools.
“I understand you are quite gifted with charms, yes?” Ollivander said.
“I don't know about gifted-”
“Nonsense, our dear Professor Fig constantly raved about your abilities,” Ollivander replied. “I've long believed there are wand cores beyond what us wandmakers have become comfortable with. Many potential cores have been deemed too unstable to make a proper wand but I am determined to prove otherwise.”
“You decided to start with an Erumpent horn?” Percival stared at him dumbfounded. There were so many other things to start with that didn't explode if handled with anything other than cautious care.
“And people say Ravenclaws aren't daring,” Ollivander grinned. “Now, I know you've studied wand lore, perhaps you can give me a new perspective.”
“Okay…” Percival took the time to look over the woods that had been laid out before him. “Erumpent horns are unstable, so a wood that's temperamental wouldn't go well. They have to be handle with delicate care so it's probably particular. It needs something equally suited for whatever magic it performs best.”
“Exactly my thinking,” Ollicander agreed. “My conundrum comes with what magics this horn would be best suited for. The immediate assumption would be defensive or offensive magic however when paired with wands such as aspen and blackthorn the results were rather…catastrophic.”
“What about hornbeam?” Percival suggested. “It's one of the most adaptive wand woods, usually adopting to its owners best form of magic. Then you wouldn't have to find the horn's best magic at all.”
“Interesting,” Ollivander hummed. He shuffled around the back area of the shop until he pulled hornbeam wood from a drawer and carried it back to the desk.
Percival was quickly shooed back to the front of the shop while Ollivander worked, an action that reminded all too much of winter during his fifth year. But this time he wasn't waiting for a wand to save the Wizarding World, just the pursuit of magical discovery. It was nice to not worry for the fate of the world and instead wait curiously for an experiment to conclude. It was also much more exciting.
Just as Percival was thinking he had yet to hear an explosion Ollivander emerged with a cylindrical hornbeam wand in hand. Percival rushed over with a grin on his face as he took the wand to study it.
“It's as beautiful as ever,” Percival complimented the wandmaker. “And it didn't explode.”
“Quite the improvement from past attempts,” Ollivander chuckled. “I must say, you have quite the eye for wandmaking. Perhaps you should consider it when taking your NEWTs next year.”
“Wand making?” Percival shook his head. “Not for me, no. I've always found the relationship between woods and their cores and the differing behaviors of woods fascinating but more in the sense of the theory of it all. Actually making the wands isn't something I'm particularly interested in. I'm too attached to charms and potions.”
“Very well,” Ollivander. “If you ever change your mind do let me know, won't you? I like to keep an eye on my rivals.”
Percival laughed and handed back the wand. The idea of being a wandmaker wasn't unappealing. It was something he could see himself doing and being content. However there were other things that appealed to him more. Maybe he could return to it if he didn't find anything else to pursue. For now he simply began the trek back to Hogwarts with the thrill of invention on his mind. Maybe that was an idea instead….
So a long while ago @lamieboo tagged me in this post (I'm not reblogging bcs it'll be way too long sorry 😢) I made some art and wrote a whole one shot for it because it was the perfect opportunity for a Winter lore I've always wanted to make. Please be kind lol 💀 I haven't written in ages and I'm such a noob when it comes to writing, also English isn't my native language. I had to run my draft through multiple writing tools back and forth to find better phrasings and dictions that better express what I want to convey. Roughly ~1,000 words.
Green and Gold

She stepped forward as the wardrobe creaked open, the boggart slipping through the narrow gap in the door. Long, flowing golden threads emerged first, and Winter drew in a sharp breath.
The rest of the boggart soon took form—a woman in a pale blue dress, slumped weakly on the floor, her calf bleeding from a deep slash. Golden locks framed her worried face, and her piercing blue eyes, so much like Winter’s own, locked onto hers. Winter’s hand instinctively went up to the scar across her left eye. The woman’s chest heaved with silent breaths. The faint murmur of the students lining up behind Winter faded until she could hear nothing. Then, the woman’s lips parted, as if to speak.
“Close your eyes, snowflake.”
Was that truly her mother’s voice? Winter couldn’t remember if boggarts could speak. Could they mimic human voices? Or was it only mouthing the words while the voice echoed from somewhere deep within her mind?
Her hands went clammy. A bead of sweat ran down the side of her face.
She knows what’s coming next. Behind her mother’s beautiful, tear-streaked face, a blinding green light appeared. Winter swiftly squeezed her eyes shut and raised her wand. “Riddikulus,” she whispered, her voice trembling as she kept her eyelids tightly closed.
· · ─────── ·❄ ❅ ❆· ─────── · · Sebastian went pale, even as the swirling Mallowsweet leaves spun into a twister before him, which without question, the most mesmerising form of the Riddikulus charm he had ever seen. It wasn’t a form he would laugh at, unlike most transformations of the charm. It was breathtaking. But no, what had truly gripped him was the green light that followed her mother’s appearance. He had never seen Winter like this—paralysed by fear, gasping for breath, drenched in sweat. She was always so composed, so captivating. Full of life, curiosity, and wonder.
He hadn’t realised this was her deepest fear.
And it was the very same curse he had cast just last year. On his uncle. Right in front of her. What had she looked like back then? He couldn’t quite remember. The sound of her laboured breathing lingered faintly in his mind, and he recalled her standing frozen for a moment before following him as he fled the catacombs. But the look on her face—he had no memory of it. Was she shocked? Horrified? Traumatised? He had been too distraught, too consumed by his own turmoil, to notice. Merlin, how must she have felt? Watching her best friend cast the Killing Curse—the very same curse that had taken her mother’s life—right in front of her? His throat went dry. His insides twisted painfully. Clenching his hands into fists, he dug his nails into his palms.
Was this… was this the reason she had refused to learn the spell? Not that he had wanted her to; in fact, he had been relieved when she didn’t. But it left him with questions. She was his kindred spirit, after all, and he knew the Dark Arts intrigued her, even if it was purely out of curiosity and for the sake of knowing. She wanted to learn, and had learned the other two curses. He had thought, perhaps, she would eventually ask about the last one, even though he wasn’t sure if he could bear to teach her—not after what happened to Solomon, to himself.
To Anne. But she was adamant in her refusal to learn it. She had said so out of the blue, when they began speaking again after the catacombs—after weeks of silence between them. Now, he finally understood why. And his heart broke for her. “Sebastian? Sebastian, what just happened?” Ominis’ voice snapped him back to reality. His best friend’s face was filled with concern, surely anxious for not being able to see what’s happening. Just this time, Sebastian is glad he couldn’t. He wouldn’t want Ominis to witness her in such a state. He opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out. He tried again, but his gaze drifted to Winter, who was slowly making her way towards them from the front of the line. Another student—Arthur Plummly, perhaps—stepped forward to face the boggart, but Sebastian hardly noticed. His focus was solely on Winter, her head bowed, arms wrapped tightly around herself, her body trembling slightly. “Winter…” She looked up at him, her eyes wide. They stood there for a moment, locked in each other's gaze. “I… I’m sorry.” He finally managed to speak. “What... what are you apologising for?” So much. Even though he’d already apologised to her and Ominis countless times, he hasn’t apologised for this one. “You—you know why.” He knew she understood. They’d always had a way of reading each other, and this was one of those moments. “That’s… It’s not—you shouldn’t…” She trailed off. And Sebastian was thankful she didn’t finish. Because he did feel like he should apologise. Even though hadn’t known about this, what he did that day might’ve stirred up memories she had buried deep down. Just like the cursed boggart had just now. Another silence passed before he slowly pulled her into an embrace. One hand rested on her back, the other gently cradling the back of her head. She froze at first, startled, but after a moment, her body softened into his arms as he tenderly stroked her hair. From his peripheral vision, Sebastian saw Ominis approached hesitantly. His alabaster hand tentatively found Winter’s smaller one, which still hung limply at her side, and she allowed their fingers to entwine. Sebastian could see the questions lingering in his best friend’s furrowed brows, but he’s certain that Winter would talk to him–she would explain everything to them when she’s ready.
He glanced forward, aware of the curious eyes from the students waiting in line—some watching with intrigue, others with quiet sympathy. It was a peculiar view, after all: Winter with her two best friends huddled together in such an unusual position. Up front, he caught sight of Amit ducking as his boggart morphed into harmless paper planes flying about after his successful Riddikulus. Sebastian hadn’t seen Amit’s boggart, but he imagined it was likely something ordinary, like a failing report card marked with a dreaded “T” in Astronomy or History of Magic.
None of that mattered now. The only person of importance was the girl in his arms, her trembling slowly subsiding, her once-laboured breathing easing into a soft, steady rhythm.
