My Parasyte Maxim Review

I finished PM a few days ago and had a great time watching it. I practically binged the second half of it.

Almost every aspect of the show was great, especially the protagonist. Shinichi was one of best protagonist I’ve seen so far. His path of losing and finding his humanity intrigued me. I think the only problems I had was the last two episodes and the female characters. But these are minor issues compared to the great things the anime did.

I didn’t care much for the last two episodes because I didn’t have much of a connection or intrigue with the villains. People say the villain has to be somewhat as good as the protagonist and Gotou and Uragami weren’t as great characters as Shinichi. The episodes were still good but not as much as some previous episodes.

Next issue was the female characters. I don’t know what I expected from Satomi Murano, Shinichi’s love interest, but I found her kind of bland and her constantly asking Shinichi if he was himself got annoying after a few times. I understand the symbolism, yet it still irked me for a while. Kana was another girl I didn’t like too much. Her obsession with Shinichi and ignoring the dangers of her “gift” was irksome. Her stalking also made me uncomfortable. Though I still felt bad when she died. Lastly, Yuko’s decision to confront Hideo instead of telling her brother what was going on added a bad taste in my mouth for a while. That action felt so out of character since Yuko was being smart when putting the pieces together that Hideo was a parasite. I have to take a break from the show after that episode.

Overall, with minor issues, I consider PM as one of the best anime I’ve watched. It was perfect, though really close.

There is a street no one lives in—Among the ruins of this city. Here there is a game only children can play. It is called “Otokoyo”; a game of hide-and-seek. But whenever children play this game, one by one they would disappear into the blinds of the buildings. A boy named Hikora joins this game to search of his missing sister that came to play before.

Eight children gather. The street lamps flare though no one is there to light them. An eerie door opens. The game has now begun!

Ryou tells Akira that the only way to defeat the demons is to incorporate their supernatural powers, and suggests that he unite with a demon himself. When I finished it, my only thoughts were “Damn…What the hell just happened???” I liked it a lot but come on! I understood it yet I was left with a Why? Question).

Fishbaiit’s note: (if I’m not wrong, this was my second anime to have ever. but I drifted away from it after the 3rd season. And in my opinion, the second season is by far my favorite.)

Fun Fact: • Sui Ishida has been my favorite artist. I love how unique the art style is and I would definitely like to have a big poster of any of his works. • My favorite song of Tokyo is Seasons die one after another by Amazarashi, after that I’ve listened to a lot of Amazarashi’s songs.

( I was mesmerized! This may not be for everyone, this this was one of the most captivating anime’s I’ve ever seen. It’s animation styles is so unique and the color choices were so abstract and explosive. The story was always compelling and suspenseful, truly was amazing. Unfortunately it’s so short and it went by before I could even realize that was it. I highly recommend it if you’re into psychological horror mystery ^^ )

I have Kagewani on repeat bc Banba Sousuke Sensei is Suguru Geto in another life and this shit is healing.

Potential series spoilers ahead (the whole thing is like 3hrs so it's easy to catch up on), but I'll be showing its similarities to jujutsu kaisen.

So he's one of the best of the best, he's strong and gentle and I KNOW his hair is soft. He even absorbs this orb of basically curse, and can manipulate it, though it hurts him.

Possibly a stretch but this eye mask reminds me of sukuna.

And this kid is a mix of AU Junpei / Yuuji. But his name is Satoru

Also there are minor characters named Yuuta, Saori and Takeru (idk if they're spelled the same in Japanese though, and they don't resemble characters by that name in JJK).

Pics of the new opening for Jigoku Shoujo Yoi No Togi! I always loved Jigoku Shoujo series for a very long time! So happy to watch this new season!! XD
