Htf Cub - Tumblr Posts
Okay so idk what possessed me when I was watching Monarch: Legacy of monsters but I decided to mix it with HTF for god knows why. Here’s some concept art+comics!
Here are some of the first sketches, I came up w/ Flaky first, and as I drew the others I came up with some backstory ideas. The first concept for these three is that they kind of took the place of General Shaw, Keiko and Billy(im like 63% sure that’s his name and I refuse to look it up) except they where around after Monarch. Sniffles was one of the head scientists at Monarch, and Flippy was sent to help him try to get close to what was believed to be a hive for M.U.T.O’s. Along the way they found Flaky who 1, no one knew existed, and 2, was very familiar with the M.U.T.O’s, so they decided to use them as their guide. However, none of them ever return from this trip, much to the dismay of their loved ones. Also I changed Nuttys role and how Flaky and Sniffles met. However I keep the first pictures because I think their cute.
Here are the more recent doodles, they’re more updated bc I drew them while watching the new episodes. Their just vague character designs that I’ll likely alter in the future.

Okay, now to describe the peoples placings. Petunia, Toothy and Cub are kind of like the main cast. Giggles, Cuddles, maybe Lumpy and Russel, Handy and probably Lammy are apart of Monarch, Pop, Sneaky, Ka-Boom and possibly Lifty are dead, Shifty, Mime, Nutty, and the others I can’t remember rn are like side helpers. Nutty being the most noteworthy to my mind rn. Tiger General would likely be kind of like a Hirose or Shaw figure, who seems like a bad guy at one point but is just trying to help.
I’m glad you guys listened to my rant and looked at the art, or one or another. I know I haven’t been posting a lot since school started again and I’m still a bit uncomfortable posting things other then HTF, and I’m planning on posting more today, so you’ll likely get more of these kind of ‘content blasts’. I’m going to try and make another panel of that comic in hopes I can post more content after a piece of that backstory stuff. Keep an eye out!

While she's away, at her door, Splendid knock
When he found Giggles, he's in total luck
Because she could teach him a new way to _

These are just some innocent, silly, little verses!
IDK why but according to the written headcanon of my younger self, Cub will ask the "real questions".
Like "why do they die and get revived or why's everyone's age is inconsistent." And critters around him will realize what's wrong in their universe and have existential crisis. It's most likely I am just projecting myself to him XD

I love how Honey is eagerly taking the cake from Mime. Meanwhile, Taffy is just amused at Disco Bear trying his best to block the sugar-must-have boi.
And then there's Nutty, tryna have the whole cake to himself. Silly candy man, everyone will have a slice.
And of course, the cozy and comfy Cub with Flippy.

Cant pick between these two reasons of Disco Bear turning into snail: he either bought and eat a very sussy lookin snail for a diet ORRR he stepped on one and get karma like that one Junji ito manga yass. Im gonna scale up the canvas so I can draw the shell. Of course its gonna be filled with a lot of details more and pay more attention to it than the energy i have on keeping up conversations with friends.

Personalities and motivations inverted
▪︎ Somber is the coolest antonym I found for Happy, Wood is a darker alternative for Tree, and Foes is the opposite of friends
EXTRACTED DESCRIPTION: Cub is finally a teenager but he still dies because of his father's negligence and clumsiness. He is really tired of the cycle and he desires to be in an opposite world where Pop would actually make constant efforts taking care of him. After an encounter with his opposite counterpart at the well, the two switches places to live the lives they think they wanted.
▪︎ Lye (Wolf in Sheep's Clothing) and Byte (Cheetah with headphones) are like Cub's classmates. They knew how Buc and Cub switch places so they'll do their best to try to make it nothing's out of the ordinary-

The Respectably Refined Readily Righteous Raccoon Rangers are the main helpers for Cub to adapt to the world.
▪︎ The ones with Crystal in it are really cool, her role is to like guide Cub around. First image is of Cub getting introduced to Inversed! Cuddles, Giggles and Toothy. Second image is Cub telling Wifty about Crystal. He's unsure of her existence since he is the only one who have seen her so far.
▪︎ I forgot how this chapter supposed to go but I rembe about Cub trying to survive the "executioners"

(she doesn't have flakes, fearless, adrenaline junkie, uses her quills as weapons when needed, loves to compete on having the most kills for the day)

Day 11 & 12: Bloodbath and Possession
CONTAINS -> DISTURBING IMAGERY, WEIRD LIMB ANGLES, BLOOD
Pop stood beneath the ceiling, eyes riveted to the macabre sight above him. The ceiling was covered in blood... blood spilled during the thing's latest feast. Frozen in fear, his heart pounds loudly in his chest as he witnessed his son's new form. The once sweet, innocent Cub has been taken over by something beyond his comprehension of evil. Cold sweat break down his neck, making Pop shiver uncontrollably. He only have himself to blame for this.
He held the shovel closer to him, trying to find some comfort in its sturdy form, but his mind was racing with images of what his son had become. He watches helplessly as his sweet baby is twisted into a monstrous shape, the tentacles squirming like snakes. Its razor-sharp teeth rattles - craving; there's that insatiable hunger to it that makes Pop's own teeth grind in fear. He wants to run, to scream, to do something, but his body remains paralyzed.
"Son?" Pop asked, his voice cracking with both fear and sadness. He couldn't bear the thought of his own flesh and blood turning into such a monstrous creature.
Cub turned its head towards Pop, and Pop felt his blood run cold as he saw his son's face. The tentacles spreading out from Cub's neck moved erratically. Pop felt a wave of nausea wash over him. Slowly, the thing that painfully settled in his son's body spoke in a deep, grotesque voice.
"THIS VESSEL IS LIMITING FATHER, I REQUIRE MORE SUSTENANCE"
the 'Cub' snarls, its words filled with an otherworldly hunger.
Pop can only back away in horror as the possessed Cub rises to its feet on the ceiling, its body contorting in unnatural ways. He doesn't know what to do or where to go now. As the thing starts to charge forward, he prays for this nightmare to en-

I just made a little tweak to their designs, fixing their eyes because they were bugging me too much.
I'm working on more redesigns that I'll get around to posting soon.
