he rolls his eyes, slapping the dishtowel down onto the bartop as he glares his brother down.

“why would i want to be called that? i don't even want to be called the title everyone threw on me. i think all these names are ridiculous and pointless.”

he folds his arms over his chest, “are you going to order anything or are you just here to bother me?”

"you look tired, 'luc." crepus peers up from the mountain of ledgers he's poring over, giving his son a scrutinizing look. "i know it's a big promotion, cavalry captain ... you'd tell me if you were struggling, right ? or ... not sleeping well ?" goodness knows they're both emotions crepus can relate to, far better than he'd like to admit.

he can't deny he's a little tired, but he's nothing, if not resilient. a little bit of hard work isn't the worst, not to him at least.

still, he wants to prove himself, show just how strong and durable he truly is. he can do this, he has to. his determination knows no bounds, and his stubbornness holds the strength of titanium.

it's truly an odd sensation to be missed, heart thumping at the notion of just how much he matters to someone again on a deeper level. it terrifies him, but it also makes him feel weightless.

crimson hues flit over to the traveler, his own emotions fluffing up as he, too, realizes how much he's come to appreciate aether's presence.

“i... i suppose i feel the same way,” he starts, gaze drifting away now, “but,” his logic rolls forth, an attempt to comfort the other, “you don't have to say goodbye, and it's not for forever. you have your sister to find, so i won't take it too harshly that you have to depart again. not to mention, i know you'll always return. while i will also... miss you, you'll always have a place here... a home to return to.” home being... himself. he never understood the idea of being someone's place of comfort, but he doesn't want to make the same mistakes again.

a hum of acknowledgement and agreement, diluc setting his tea down as he looks to the commissioner.

“what a quaint observation. i didn't think anyone else noticed. many seem to live in the moment without recognizing it.” he responds, but he knows full well what it means to appreciate the time he has.

after everything, he knows he can't take the present for granted, for he doesn't know what the future would hold.

“you'd be right, though. life is more... fulfilling when you stop to appreciate what's in front of you.”

"Happy Windblume, Diluc!" Lumine held out a small bundle of lamp grasses - which always reminded her of him - and yellow roses, for friendship, towards Diluc. "I hope you enjoy these."

it isn't a rare occurrence for diluc to be presented a windblume by others — many giving in thanks for his business — but there's still something that tickles his heart when a close friend gifts him one. in his eyes, it means the world to him to know that others think him to be deserving of such a joyful gift.

he gently takes the bundle of lamp grass and yellow roses, unable to stop the smile. he holds the lamp grass with care, a little unsure how lumine knew his favorite flower, but he appreciates it all the same.

“thank you, lumine. they're beautiful.”

he ceases in the middle of his paperwork when he finds the viking in his lap. a soft chuckle of amusement leaves him and he wraps his arms around them.

“would it be too much to say you remind me of a cat?” he teases.

Don't mind the tired Habringer wrapping his arms around Diluc from behind, nuzzling into fiery red locks with a small sigh. All he wants really is to steal the other away.

the redhead is checking the stock in his cellar at the winery when he feels arms slide around his waist, a face nuzzling into his wild curls.

he hums, setting the clipboard down as he glances back.

"well, hello. to what do i owe the pleasure?" he teases as he leans back on him.

pro:

diluc's love language is gifts and acts of service. he wants his lover to feel appreciated and even spoiled. granted he won't simply drop thousands of mora on his partner, but he'll give gifts that comes from the heart or things that his partner likes and wanted. he's very observant so he knows everything about his significant other, so he likes to surprise them.

con:

he's a very a busy person. not to say he'll ignore his lover or spend time with them, but there are times where he can't predict if he'll have a hectic schedule, and he'll be swept away with matters involving the winery, or his vigilante duties, so there's a good chance he won't be around often

honestly i don't think i have a rare pair, maybe ayatoluc? but in the main fandom. i don't see a lot of that ship, considering the regional gaps between them. i've read like 2 fics for them 😭

diluc descends from the pyro archon on his mother's side

diluc genuinely cares about kaeya. the cold act is just that, an act. he feels that because he hurt kaeya, that kaeya is safer if he's kept at a distance, which is why diluc constantly pushes him away

diluc was terrified of the dark as a child. literally couldn't go to bed in complete darkness or silence
