Kdramas I have watched
38. Something in the rain

This was always on my list because I like the lead actors and when the trailer played automatically on Netflix I took it as a sign.
All I knew about this show was that it was a noona romance. At first I thought Son Ye-jin's character was going to be a replica of her Personal Taste character- it's not. The relationship between Jin-a and Jun-hui is really cute (especially in the beginning) and I also liked the friendship between Jin-a and Kyung-seon. But my favourite character in the show is Jin-a's Appa. He is so supportive of his kids and all father's should aspire to be that way. He definitely balanced out the mother who just wanted her children to follow her plans. I also liked that they included a sexual harassment at work storyline. Most other shows are about pairing off the people who work together.
What I didn't like: Jin-a meddling in the Seo siblings daddy issues. The soundtrack- I think this is the first time the music in a show annoyed me. I also did NOT like the ending. I know many shows break the couple up in the penultimate episode to have them reunite in the finale but here it just didn't make sense. What exactly changed in the time they were apart? They are just right back to where they were. 🤷
One thing this show did do is make me think about what I would do if the tables were turned. We all root for the fictional pairings but I wonder how I would react if my best friend was dating my significantly younger brother, one that she grew up treating as a sibling.
I would recommend this show to romcom fans (if you don't mind a disappointing ending)

Kdramas are just like [fate will bring us together] [walking under an umbrella in the snow] [melancholy at the beach] [rich boy falls in love with middle class girl] [penthouse] [mixes soju and beer] [reincarnation of the love interest] [SECOND LEAD SYNDROME] [kimchi] [ramyeon] [unexpected friendships] [“its been you all along”] [oppa] [height difference] [our love can overcome everything] [romcom with a serial killer subplot] [getting jealous over past relationships of your SO] [love confessions in the park] [staring at your crush while they’re sleeping] [finding your first love unexpectedly] [estranged fathers] [overbearing mothers] [waking up with full make up on] [found families] [living happily ever after]
Dear Kdrama writers:
1. Please keep the writing consistent. Don't give me amazing episodes early on and then when I'm fully invested give me a rushed ending that you put zero thought into.
2. STOP breaking up the lead couple in the penultimate episode just to reunite them in the finale. Every show doesn't need a break up/distance leading to a reunion.
3. As much as I want a happy ending, it needs to make sense. I'd rather get a 'sad ending' if it is consistent with the show/characters/plot.
I'm on episode 11 of Heartbeat and since episode 1 I've been trying to figure out where I've seen the ox blood ajhumma before
One Asianwiki search later...

She was Secretary Mo in The King Eternal Monarch!!!! (which I've watched more times than I would admit)
Is this what it feels like when one finds out Superman is Clark Kent?? Because that disguise is totally believable now.
I am scared to start ongoing dramas after See you in my 19th life and Heartbeat
But I also really want to watch My Lovely Liar and Moving.
To celebrate the milestone of
100 completed Kdramas
I've created a little challenge I'm hoping to complete during this month to reminisce over these 100 shows
