Hi! Could you do a Lockwood x reader where she’s on Kipps’ team and they’re in love with each other ever since they first met and he asks her out to the Fittes ball? If this makes sense- just a lot of fluff and stuff. Thanks :) ❤️

summary: lockwood and reader, a fittes agent, have been in love ever since they first met and its been quite obvious for anyone else, but them
"quit making it so obvious, will ya?" Quill exclaimed, after the team and you followed him out of the church, where your current mission was held.
"what are you talking about?" you asked, quiet startled by Quill's sudden remark. normally it was Bobby who would get the jabs from the older boy and normally he would compliment your effort. he seemed to be a bit aggravated at the moment though.
"don't play dumb, y/n" Quill shook his head "anyone could read the infatuation from off your face" he stopped and turned to look at you "even now, still"
you scrunched your eyebrows together, still not understanding what your cousin was saying. "Quill" you said lowly "could we please discuss this somewhere else" your eyes hinted at the rest of your team, that was still standing beside you
"its fine, really" Quill ignored your worry "I mean, its not as it isn't obvious from him too"
"what?" you asked confused. it was true, you had been in love with Anthony Lockwood from the moment you first laid eyes on him, but you never thought he reciprocated that feeling. he just was friendly with you, that was all.
"oh c'mon, y/n!" Quill bellowed "Lockwood is obsessed with you!"
"no, he isn't" your eyes darted from Quill towards your teammates
"he's right" Bobby nodded, when your eyes finally landed on him
you shook your head, still not believing what you were hearing
"you can't be that oblivious, can you?" your eyes darted back to your cousin, the blonde boy raising his eyebrows, like he was questioning your intelligence, or your sanity even. "hello, y/n" he said, trying to imitate Lockwood "would you like some tea? I bought it on my way here"
"that's not-"
"y/n!" Bobby joined in "your hair looks so gorgeous today, you should style it like this more often"
"guys, please-"
"if your cousin gets too infuriating, you know you can always start at my agency" Kat added
"ok well, but that's just Lockwood being friendly, alright? we've known each other for a long time, we're friends okay?"
"that doesn't look like friendship to me" Kat muttered
"he literally remembered a book you mentioned once and went to an autography session, just so the author could sign it" Quill rolled his eyes "I wouldn't even do that and I'm your family! just make a move already, poor boys probably getting tired of licking your shoes"
you opened your mouth, stunned at what Quill had just said "he told me his mum had that book flying around and he didn't need it anymore, and that it was already signed when he found it"
"well, it wasn't"
it was weirdly out of character for Quill to stand up for Lockwood, his more or less enemy, like that.
"look, y/n" Quill said firmly "I'm not a fan of Lockwood and he's definitely not my friend, but the poor bloke is literally suffering in front of all of our eyes, its gotten pathetic. the fittes ball is at the end of this week, and if he won't ask you out, then I will write a letter and get him to do it, alright? get yourself together and please stop acting like a love drunken idiot"
"huh?" you exclaimed startled, as you watched Quill turn around and walk down the way, back to the entry of the cemetery, the rest of your team following. you picked up your pace until you were next to them again.
that very evening though, you received a letter from Lockwood himself, asking you to accompany him to the ball. Quill had taken it out of the mailbox and had held it up like a treasure, muttering I told you so.
the afternoon before the ball had been spend by trying on different dresses and forcing Quill to be your fashion consultant, until he was so fucked off he was ready to jump out of the window
"really, y/n" he had said "you could even go dressed in a potato sack and he would still look at you the whole night"
so now you were standing in front of the house, to your luck, not dressed in a potato sack, but a glistening red dress that ended right at your thighs, waiting for Lockwood to pick you up
"hello" he said stunned when he had stepped out of the taxi to hug you and open the door for you. "you look absolutely mesmerising"
these words and the look on his face while saying it, gave you the first moment in which you actually believed what quill had told you. Lockwood was never the one to hold back on compliments, maybe that's why you've never noticed it before.
the ball was in full swing when you two entered the venue, Lockwood holding onto your hand tightly, as if you might slip away if he'd let go of it.
"fancy a drink?" one of the servers asked and Lockwood took one glass for each of you, downing the liquor as soon as he had handed you your glass.
"nervous?" you asked, laughing at his sudden keenness on drinking
"yes, actually" he said, looking up from the glass and finding your eyes instead. "I'm not normally. only ever when I'm around you. George and Lucy said that its gotten really obvious at this point"
"Quill said that too" you added and Lockwood looked up surprised
"even kipps noticed?" he muttered frustrated
"yeah" you shrugged your shoulders "but particularly he meant me"
"you?" Lockwood asked confused and you nodded "oh"
"yes, oh" you smiled uncomfortably "they even got me as far as to believe that there was something going on, between us, I mean"
"oh" Lockwood repeated
"oh?" your voice sounded more hurt than you had anticipated
"no- I mean not oh, but oh!" Lockwood tried to save himself from the awkwardness "I didnt think we would get to the point as fast, but here we are, and it's seems like I don't really have to tell you what I feel anymore"
"no you don't, technically" you smiled "but I'd still like to hear it from you"
"well in that case" Lockwood laughed "I like you, y/n. since always"
"oh, since always?" you laughed "very specific"
"since the moment I laid eyes on you, to be exact. and here I am, asking you if you feel the same"
"obviously" you smiled at the grinning boy in front of you "it wasn't any different for me, I knew it was over the moment I saw you"
"well, what can I say?" Lockwood chuckled "meeting me enchants people"
so my idea was that reader never had her first kiss and is very inexperienced. they‘re all making fun if her but in a loving way. but lockwood decides to rescue her and teach / practise with her.

summary: lockwood and y/n finish a study about what defines the greatness of a kiss
warnings: kissing ig
note: this was so fun to write!! such a good idea, I hope I did it justice!!
"yeah" Lucy laughed "but that wasn't the weirdest thing, when he kissed me, he had so much spit in his mouth, I nearly had to throw up"
"ew" George exclaimed, the rest of the table irrupting into similar sounds at the story of Lucy's horrible date
"I hate it when people do that" Lockwood agreed and you grew quiet. you had never kissed anyone, so it wasn't like you would now what should and shouldn't be done while kissing.
you found it some what embarrassing, but at the same time you had only turned sixteen, you had all the time in the world to kiss dozen of people. you internal monologue, had totally occupied from listening to the conversation and now all eyes had turned to you
"what is it?" you raised your brows. you sensed the growing reservation from your friends
"nothing" exclaimed Lockwood quickly, but you didn't buy into it
"we just wondered if you had ever kissed someone before" George said. Lockwood threw an angry look in his direction and Lucy admonished him loudly
"what?" you asked, startled by the sudden question
"well" said George "we all had a fair share of relationships, but we never saw you with anybody.. that begs the question" George left the rest of sentence unfinished, due to the kick he received from Lockwood under the table.
"oh" you looked down in shame "well, in that case I guess you're right"
"its nothing to be ashamed of" muttered Lucy. you looked up and send her a grateful smile
"it's a bit funny. but in a good way" George send you a smile "hopefully you will never have to kiss such a douchebag like Lucy, with a mouth full spit, there are enough of them in this world"
you all broke into laughter, the tense atmosphere suddenly blown away by you guys falling into your usual comfort.
an hour later, you were cleaning up the kitchen, when there was a soft knock at the kitchen door. you turned around and were met with Lockwood
"hey" you smiled "you know you don't have to knock, right? this is still your house"
"I didn't want to startle you" he walked into the room and sat down at the table
"I just finished" you sat down beside him "its quite late, we should go to bed"
he had taken your hand and stopped you from standing up
"wait" he muttered and watched as you sank back in your seat again "what you said earlier, was that true?"
"what? that I've never been kissed? do you think I would lie, because I like to feel embarrassed all the time? it's bad enough already, I don't need you to make fun of me"
"I would never, and there's nothing to be embarrassed of, a few less douchebags you have kissed, what does it matter?"
you just shrugged
"not every kiss is awesome. some of them are bad. so bad even, that you later regret them" he smiled reassuringly "maybe you avoided a few of them"
"this might sound stupid" you breathed "but are there bad and good kisses or just bad and good kissers?"
"well, what's the difference?" Lockwood smiled
"I presume there's a big one" you said "the difference is noticeable wether you measure the quality of a kiss by the circumstances or more by the person giving them. statistically-" you were interrupted the moment Lockwood suddenly leaned forward and plastered a chaste kiss onto your lips
"wha-?" your eyes turned big
"that was a good kiss for example" he said lowly "and just for measurement purposes" he leant forward again and repeated his action, this time leaving his lips a few seconds longer
"yeah" you breathed confused "those were pretty good"
"I think I understand what you meant now" he said "is it the kiss or is it the person giving the kiss"
"yeah" you nodded, leaning forward and kissing him again "I think it's the person giving the kiss" Lockwood shrugged and you smiled
"well, maybe there's another possibility we haven't thought about yet"
"is there?"
"yeah, what if it's the length of a kiss?" you planted a short and chaste kiss onto his mouth
"yeah, what if the quality is defined by time rather than skill?" Lockwoods hand wandered to rest on your cheek. he pulled your face forward slowly, connecting your lips.
it was in that moment you realised that kissing was much more easier than you had initially thought. it was a lot like falling asleep. all the time it didn't happen, you would worry and think, but when it finally did, it just happened, you knew what you had to do suddenly
your hands went into his hair, his hand was still resting on your cheek, the other gliding down towards your waist and pulling you off your chair and into his lap. his lips were soft, not that you had anything to compare them too, but still. you opened your mouth slightly, his tongue slipping inside.
you slowly broke the kiss, leaning your forehead against his and smiling. you stayed like that for a few minutes.
"do you think those are enough kisses to determine a measurement?"
Lockwood shook his head. "we still have to find out if quantity stands above quality"
you stood up from his lap. "I think quality's more important" you giggled, watching his face fall dramatically
"well, only one way to find out" he laughed, chasing you up the stairs.
the next morning George and Lucy would complain about having heard you two giggle all night.
you would send a conspiratorial look in Lockwoods direction, having continued your study up in his room
you were no longer the only one in the house who had not been kissed. and you had Lockwood to thank for that. although he had gotten quiet angry when you had suggested to expand the study by testing out different kissing partners.
he was much more keen on him being the only one you were kissing. well, let's just say, it's not like you minded...
LOCKWOOD X READER, but they've been living together for years and one night, when the reader try's to go on a date with a different guy, lockwood gets all defensive and jealous and they both confess their feelings in the heat of a moment?
—the way i loved you

summary: lockwood is protective of what is his and in his own definition, you belong to him
warnings: none really, some fighting but that's it
note: this works perfectly as a part two of you belong with me, so make sure to read that before reading, but honestly you could also read them apart for each other. its just a continuation of the story.
I had been a few weeks since the mission were you had to flirt with the man Sebastian Keen himself. luckily everything had gone according to plan and Lockwood had rescued you before you had to kiss the scumbag of a man. things between you and Lockwood had since returned back to normal. well as normal as they could be.
he hadn't said anything about calling himself your boyfriend then, so you hadn't either.
"how about that?" you asked Lucy, while you turned from side to side in the auburn coloured dress. it ended on the middle of your thighs and felt like a second skin.
"this is it" she nodded smiling fondly
"thanks Luce" you said while you took off the dress and switched back to your regular clothes, you'd have to take a shower before getting fully ready
suddenly there was a knock at the door right after you had put on your shirt. "yes?" you and Lucy called at the same time
"hey" Lockwood smiled, walking up the steps. you and Lucy had shared the attic ever since she came to live with you. you appreciated the company, it did felt so far away from the boys, you were glad that you weren't the only one in that old room anymore.
"could I talk to you for a second?" Lockwood asked you, you nodded, watching as Lucy excused herself and went down the stairs
"what's up?" you asked your best friend of two years. you had been the first to move into Lockwoods new founded agency. and for the longest time it had just been you two, then came George and finally Lucy. it was amazing for you, to finally have a girl on the team. you had noticed Lockwood getting jealous over all the time you spend with Lucy, you had fought a lot about that, and finally he had to agree that there were just some topics he couldn't really be helpful for you.
"I just-" he interrupted himself as he noticed the formal clothing on your bed "what's the dress for? you never wear them"
"oh" you turned around to look at the dress and shrugged "thought I'd try something new, I've got a date"
"a date?" Lockwoods features grew pale
"yes?" you raised your brows at the boy
"what?- why?-" he cleared his throat "I mean with who?"
"oh I don't think you know him" you shrugged "met him at the library. his name is tom"
"tom" Lockwood repeated like he was noticing a little bit of dirt under his shoe
"something wrong, Lockwood?" you asked and Lockwood shook his head quickly
"when are you going?"
"tonight. right after I showered"
"oh" he said "but tonight, tonight is this thing, don't you remember?"
"what thing?" you rolled your eyes, you were used to his antics by now. Lockwood was generally a very jealous person, he didn't like to share his friends and especially not you. first it had been with Lucy and now with every boy you would like. now that you thought about that.. he did act weird the last few weeks. it seemed like he was trying to give you what you would miss by not being in a relationship. maybe that way, he thought, you would just stay with him.
"uh, you know-" Lockwood trailed off, looking around the room and trying to find anything to say
"you can't be my compensation boyfriend for forever, Lockwood"
"your what?" he wondered, sitting down at the end of your bed so he could face you
"don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about" you groaned "some day you will have to share me with a boy. I will still be your best friend, but there will come other boys that are important to me too"
"why?" he asked
"huh?" the question confused you "oh Lockwood. because you can't be the only boy in my life forever. I want to fall in love"
"why can't you just fall in love with me then?"
your eyes grew big as you watched the boy you had known since your childhood. "come again?"
"sorry" he shrugged and stood up "that was stupid, i'm gonna leave"
"Anthony John Lockwood!" you called loudly and he froze "don't you walk away now"
he turned around slowly and you recognised his scared features. he knew it was over when you would use his full name.
"I didn't mean what I said, alright?" he stepped forward so he was half a foot away from you
"why?" you repeated his question from earlier, as your voices grew louder
"because you're right, I can't be the only boy in your life and I have to accept that"
"yeah, okay" you bellowed, stepping closer "but why did you say what you said?"
"I told you I didn't mean it"
"you never say things you don't mean, not now, not ever, you jerk"
"don't you call me a jerk.. you're .. you're a jerk as well"
"ahh, we're getting creative I see"
"I-i just don't think Tom would be the right fit for you, i'm concerned as a friend"
"you have never met the guy" you argued back
"yeah okay, but I know that you need someone that understands you, not some scumbag like Sebastian Keen or that Tom guy, you need someone that won't be nice to you all the time, you need someone who tells you the truth or someone who admits that auburn is absolutely not your colour"
"I'm not thinking about dating Sebastian Keen, Lockwood, this is getting a bit ridiculous"
"you know what I mean" he shrugged "you just need someone different"
"aha" you replied mockingly "someone like you or what?"
"believe it or not, but I have a personality outside of being your best friend"
"really? I'd like to meet him some day" you screamed back "hopefully he will be a bit more charming than the original"
"funny of you to say that" Lockwood said "like you want to spend time with anyone not living in this house"
"because you won't let me, Lockwood!" you screeched "you're so jealous, I nearly thought you were in love with me!"
"and what if I am?"
"what if you are? I don't know what then. suddenly you start saying things you don't mean and it leaves me all mixed up about my own feelings"
"your own feelings?"
"yeah it makes me think that I might be in love with you too"
"and what if you are?"
"yeah, what if I am?" you were still screaming at each other, heavy breaths hanging in the air after your last sentence. you were now staring at each other, the last few minutes had gone by in a bliss, you two only realising what you said
"I think I am in love with you" Lockwood exclaimed quickly, stepping forward so your noses were almost touching each other
"I think I am in love with you too"
your hand went to his neck and you captured his lips into a passionate kiss. his hands trailed down to your waist, pulling you even closer as he deepened the kiss.
you broke the kiss softly, leaning your forehead against his "I just want you as the only boy in my life" you muttered "okay, you and George" you added quickly
"yeah, i'd like that" Lockwood smiled "but I have to admit I lied"
you head went back and your face turned into one of betrayal "you lied?" you asked softly
"yeah" he laughed "auburn looks beautiful on you"
he giggled as he watched your face change to one of annoyance. you slapped his arm, before you laughed as well
"just kiss me again"
and he did just that

note: I'm sorry this is so short ahhhh!! I had to re-do this post because it kept on disappearing, I hope everything's fixed now!!
"y/n?" his voice called from far away. you couldn't see anyone, it was so dark, but you could definitely make out his voice. Anthony Lockwood had found you.
the relief you felt was indescribable.
"Lockwood?" you muttered, still not able to open your eyes
"shit, y/n" Lockwood said
now you couldn't just hear him, but feel his touch too. he was holding your shoulders. you slowly opened your eyes and were met with the concerned Anthony Lockwood.
he helped you to sit up, your back leaning against the kitchen counter, while he took the glass of water from off the sink, you had filled, before you had passed out. he passed it to you, and helped you steady your hand while you drank
"what happened, y/n?" he put the glass down on the ground beside you and tried feeling your forehead.
the dried blood was all over your face. it reeked from a little cut right at your eyebrow. you thought it would be fine. but being awake all day and then taking a hit to the head seemed to have been enough to send your body to sleep
"oh" you said, touching the cut and noticing that the blood hadn't dried yet. you couldn't have been out for long. "just a little run in with a ghost. looks worse than it is"
"I found you passed out on the kitchen floor. blood everywhere, for a short second I thought you were-" he didn't finish his sentence. he just looked down ashamed
you leaned forward, knowing the story of his family's loss. "oh, Lockwood" you muttered, softly touching his cheeks.
he looked up and found your eyes. your smile was familiar, and his heartbeat rested upon your sight. he couldn't imagine life without you
"promise me to not ever go out alone when its dark"
"yes, I promise"
"good" Lockwood leaned forward and embraced you in a hug.
you spent a few more minutes sitting on the floor and talking about unimportant things, before he helped you to go to bed. spending the night sleeping on your couch, even aftr you had told him, that you'd be glad to share the bed. Lockwood was always a gentleman

summary: some domestic bliss with lockwood
warnings: I don't think any, let me know if I missed anything
note: thanks for the compliment!! also this was so calming to write idk haha
Anthony was standing in the kitchen, cleaning mugs, humming his favourite song, when you entered.
"hey" you smiled, sitting down at the table and laying your arm on top of the chair.
the boy turned around and looked at you, never interrupting his humming. his cheeks grew bright pink, his happiness was radiant and you quickly caught your thoughts wandering off while you smiled fondly at him.
he turned around again to continue his work, while you continued to watch him in domestic bliss. those moments were your favourite, just for once doing normal things and not fighting off ghosts.
you hadn't really noticed your mind slipping away or your eyes slowly closing.
after he had finished, Anthony turned around to talk to you, but he found your sleeping form. your head laying on the armrest of his chair. he smiled, one of his arms went to rest under your knees, the other balanced your body right at your arms.
he brought you up the steps and laid you on top of the bed. he helped you take off your clothes in your half awake stake and got your pyjama pants, before he, to your request, took off his own shirt and slipped it over your head. he changed into his joggers and climbed in bed. your body fully relaxing, now that he was next to you.
when you woke up the next morning, Anthony was still fast asleep. you smiled at the boy and then carefully got out of bed, going downstairs to the kitchen.
"good morning" you smiled at Lucy and George, who were both already sitting at the kitchen table
"where's Lockwood?" George asked confused, not having seen said boy the whole morning. that was quite unusual, considering he didn't nearly sleep enough. those days were treasures to you. days where you beat him in getting up.
"he's still sleeping" George send a look in Lucy's direction, who just shrugged "but I don't think he will be for much longer, so i'm getting him breakfast. he was kind enough to carry me up to bed yesterday"
"kind enough?" Lucy repeated and both her and George broke into obnoxious laughing
"yeah" you replied, not understanding what they were getting at
"y/n" George said softly, like he was talking to a literal child "Lockwood would be kind enough to get rid of a body if you just asked him to"
"oh" you muttered
"they probably wouldn't even have to ask though" Lucy giggled "he would just be able to read that from off their face. that's how well he knows you, y/n"
you smiled at your friends and rolled your eyes, while you finished prepping the breakfast for Lockwood. you didn't eat anything most mornings.
"you guys are just being dramatic again. Anthony wouldn't help me to commit a literal crime"
"yeah sure" Lucy laughed
"if you say so" George shrugged his shoulders and both of them watched you leave the kitchen
you opened the door to your room softly, your eyes falling onto the already sitting boy
"good morning" he beamed "I was just about to get up and search for you" he helped you put down the trail on the bed and watched as you climbed back under the sheets
"how did you sleep?" you asked softly, putting a bit of milk into his tea "amazing" he smiled "like always when you are with me"
you send him a longing smile, before you raised the mug and brought it close to him, until he could take it from you
"thank you for this"
"you're welcome"
you watched as his eyes flew over everything you had fixed for him. tea, toast with nutella, a few grapes and three biscuits. you had been glad that George hadn't tried to slap them out of your hand, though you remembered his eyes following your every move and lingering on your hand a bit too long, like he was debating just to bite it off.
"brave" Anthony praised, seemingly thinking about the same thing.
"what I wouldn't do for you"
"yeah" he laughed "hope you and George are still on speaking terms"
you made a throwing hand gesture "George will be fine"
"yeah, he will. i'd make sure to lock my door every night for a week though"
"hm, maybe you'll have to sleep over for a few more days"
"maybe I have to" Anthony nodded, taking a bite from his toast and then holding it in your direction, so you could take a bite as well.
"I might get used to this bed in breakfast thing"
"yeah, its not bad" you agreed nodding "maybe I could start eating breakfast again"
"yeah, maybe you could do that"
"what I wouldn't do for you"
"we can talk about making this a regular occurrence later, first we'll have to plan how to get rid of George's body, when the case comes that it might be necessary"
"you'd help me to get rid of a body?" you asked astonished, remembering the conversation you had with Lucy and George earlier
"what I wouldn't do for you" Anthony just shrugged and continued biting away on his toast
"oh my god"

summary: you get hurt on a date and your brother notices that he has grown apart from you
warnings: mentions of injury, one yr age gap relationship (18 + 17)
notes: lucy, lockwood and george are 20 in this. reader has an age gap of 3 years
growing up you found yourself always wandering in the shadows of your older brother, he was your hero, the ideal person in your eyes and you wanted to be everything he was.
although he was only three years older than you, he grew up a faster after your parents death. he did everything possible to give you the childhood that you deserved to have.
but due to that, your relationship was strained. he thought he was protecting you by keeping you out, but instead you felt like an intruder in your own home, which felt more like Anthony's home now, who had no time to play, or to spend time, always hiding in the library, keeping you away from the things he was dealing with.
you had always hoped to one day repair the relationship you two had lost over the years, but no matter what you tried, it didn't work. so one day you just gave up.
two years later
"Lucy, have you seen my green sweater?" you called up the stairs at your best friend. she didn't answer though, you sighed and walked down to the attic, to hopefully find it in the laundry room.
your brother was training downstairs, jumping around the room and swirling his rapier through the air. you tried to move out of the way as best as you could
anthony sighed and stopped the training procedure. "how many times have I told you, not to come down here, while I'm training?"
another one of the reasons that your relationship was so strained, was that he always expected the most from you, which got tiring after awhile, especially because he was your brother and not your father.
"sorry, anti" you turned your back while you rolled your eyes and walked to the drier "I just need my sweater"
"and how many times have I told you not to call me that"
anti had been his childhood nickname, before you could pronounce his name. you preferred to call him that to this day, because first, he hated it and secondly he really approached everything that concerned you with some anti-attitude, so you thought it fit.
"sorry, dad" you replied sarcastically "won't happen again"
"don't call me that either" he sighed "have you found your sweater?"
you turned to look at him and noticed that he was waiting for you to leave, so he could turn the simulation back on.
"nope, its probably in lucy's room. see you later, anti"
"stop calling--" before he could finish his sentence, you had already made your way back up the stairs and closed the door behind you "sorry" you said to yourself "I sadly can't hear you"
"what?" you turned around to look at george, who was sitting at the kitchen table, papers flooding over the whole table
"nothing" you shook your head "have you seen my sweater?"
"which one?" george asked annoyed
"the green one? the one theo found me pretty in, remember?" you smiled, thinking about the brown haired boy that was part of quill kipps' crew and would go on a date with you later today
"theo rowland?" george repeated "why does it matter what he thinks of you?"
"i'm going out with him today" you rolled your eyes at the boy "and i wanted to wear the sweater"
"i think it's in the bathroom" george shrugged, no longer interested in continuing the conversation. you quickly thanked him, before walking out of the room and getting the sweater, that really had been in the bathroom.
after you had gotten ready, you left the house, making your way to the spot you would meet theo at.
it was later that evening, exactly ten minutes after nine, that anthony lockwood would hear loud and hectic knocking on his door. he had been sitting in the library, reading when he finally decided to open the door, the loud noise getting annoying.
"what is it?" he asked, swinging open the door. he couldn't have guessed who had been waiting in front of it.
"rowland?" lockwood asked surpised "what the hell do you want?"
"lockwood!" theo breathed a sigh of relief "something happened" theo's eyes caught lucy's who was walking down the stairs "something with y/n"
"y/n?" lockwood repeated "y/n's upstairs, what could've possibly happened?" "she isn't" lucy shook her head "she was gone the whole afternoon"
"was she now?" lockwood wondered "listen, rowland, i really don't know what you have to do with my sister, but if you don't mind, i really would love to know where she is"
"the hospital"
"the hospital?" both lockwood and lucy screeched "why didn't you say something sooner?" lockwood eagerly grabbed his coat, before he was out the door and calling for a taxi, lucy close behind him
"what the hell happened?" he turned around to look at Theo, pointing an accusing finger at the boys chest.
lucy was already climbing into the taxi. "come on, lockwood"
"if you did something to her--" he pushed theo back
"lockwood!" lucy called again
lockwood took a look in lucy's direction, deciding that he really didn't have any time to discuss anything with theo, before he looked him up and down again "i will find out if you did and now get lost!" he climbed into the taxi, that drove off after he had closed the door.
"y/n!" the relief in lucy's voice calmed lockwood down a bit.
you opened your eyes slowly, letting them adjust to the light, when you looked around yourself. "hey"
"hey" lockwood said. he took a look at your arm that was in a cast
"what happened?" lucy pointed at your arm
you looked down "i fell, really hard. but theo brought me here quickly, they gave me something to sleep while they fixed it"
"good" lucy nodded, but sensed the outgoing tension from lockwood
"where have you been? why did you leave the house in the first place?"
"i will get a nurse and tell her you've woken up" lucy excused herself from the room, leaving you and lockwood to talk.
"i was on a date" you answered his question hesitantly
"what?" anthony asked loudly "with theo rowland?" he connected the dots in his head
you nodded.
he laughed bitterly, shaking his head, walking around the room. "no you're way too young for dating and theo rowland as well! this is illegal!"
"what are you even talking about?" you asked "theo is not too old for me"
"did he touch you or anything?" lockwood sat down next to you "i can call barnes"
"what? no!" you got angrier at him "he's a good guy"
"yeah" lockwood rolled his eyes "a good guy dating a fifteen year old"
you looked at him stunned. "i'm seventeen"
"huh?"
"i'm seventeen" you repeated louder "and theo is eigtheen, so everything is fine. and if i want him to touch me, i will let him. he's very respectful"
"you're not seventeen" lockwood shook his head in denial
"yes i am" you said, but softer "what year is it, anthony?"
lockwood clasped a hand over his forehead "shit" he mumbled "you're right"
"it's alright" you shrugged your shoulders
"no it's not and i'm sorry" he admitted "i've been a pretty shitty brother these past few years, i should've kept you closer and not try to shut you out."
"don't say that" you exclaimed "of course i wanted to be closer to you, but i know that you did a lot of that so that i would have a happy childhood. you didn't mean to be cruel"
"i didn't" he nodded
"it's not too late"
"yeah" he smiled. "how about when you get discharged we go out for some donuts at arif's? you can bring theo. i scared him pretty badly, but he told me you were here in the first place, so he deserves an apology" "that sounds good" you smiled
"i love you"
"i love you too, anti"
"just today, i won't say anything to that stupid nickname, but only because you're in the hospital"
"okay" you laughed

summary: you save lockwoods life on a job but he can't save you.. but with a twist
warnings: injury, blood, falling from a building, and angsttt
note: dw it has a happy ending!! i promise
"the source should be upstairs, i can feel it" the adrenaline was rushing through your body and you knew there wasn't enought time to wait for an answer, so you quickly climbed the stairs.
lockwood was hot on your heels. "i'm coming with you"
lucy and george were busy fighting the type two and you didn't have time to argue against him. you ran through the rooms of the upper floor, searching through them, but never finding the source.
"it has to be in there" lockwood pointed to the last door left in the corridor and you nodded eagerly, dashing down the hallway. what you didn't notice, was the second type two emerging from the wall and following you.
lockwood was opening the drawers, while you were busy looking aroung the room as well. none of you noticed the ghost that was coming closer and closer to touching lockwood.
you gasped, upon discovering the source, your head turning to inform lockwood, when you noticed the ghost. there wasn't enough time to throw the silver net, and even if there had been, this was a total different ghost than lucy and george were fighting downstairs, so you couldn't know for sure that was the right source.
you quickly stepped between lockwoods turned body and the ghost. in the same moment you tossed the silver net, just for the small hope that it would actually help you. but before the net hit the source, the ghost had already outstretched it's hand. touching your cheek.
despite the touch being soft, all kinds of emotion hit you and made you stumble backwards. right behind you wasn't a wall or the hallway. it was the open window. with one last bit of your strength you tried to hold onto it, but you couldn't fight against it. not when you were already falling.
"y/n!" you could hear lockwood call, far far away. he was probably busy fighting the ghost now, in the case that the silver net really didn't do anything. at least you had given him a chance.
lockwood fought off the ghost as quickly as possible. his head always turning back to the window, trying to make out your form or how far the ground was away. he stepped aroung the silver net, fixing it's position on the source and the ghost disappeared. he was halfway hanging out the window just a second later, scanning the ground for you or any hit where you had disppeared to.
"lockwood!" the voice finally reached his ears
"y/n?" lockwood turned around, but he was met with lucy and george who looked at him worriedly
"we've been calling you for ages" george muttered
"where is y/n?" lucy tried to look behind the boy before her
"i don't know" lockwood breathed, walking down the hallway quickly. george and lucy close behind him.
"what do you mean?" george asked confused
"did anyone that was ghost touched ever disappear?" lockwood asked "is there a touch or ghost as strong to make you die and disappear on the spot?"
"y/n was ghost-touched?" lucy gasped
"that's what i'm trying to tell you" lockwood said loudly, rushing down the stairs "i think they were and then they fell out of the window and now they're gone"
"they fell out of the window?" george asked, but his question was left unanswered. lockwood was too busy, throwing open the front door and quickly walking around the house.
"they should be here" he looked up to make out the window "they should be right here" he repeated
lucy was holding her hands to her face, sinking to her knees in shock. george was trying to make sense of it all and lockwood was walking from wall to wall, muttering the same sentence over and over again.
"why aren't they here?" he screamed suddenly, holding onto georges collar and shaking him over and over again, until lucy intefered.
"this won't lead us anywhere" she said softly, losening lockwoods hold on george. "george wasn't there when it happened, but you were"
"are you saying it was my fault?" lockwood asked, tears still flowing over his cheeks. his friends could see the trauma that was bubbling up again. old memories entering his brain and spinning the events, so that he would eventually come to the conclusion that he had been at fault.
"no" lucy said "of course not. but maybe you saw something, something that you didn't really notice"
"yeah" george added "just close your eyes and try to remember"
"i-i can't" lockwood could feel the panic bubble up in his chest
"okay, it's alright" lucy tried to calm him down "maybe they are at home"
"i don't know" lockwood looked around once more "what if they are here somewhere? hurt, and we didn't even try to look for them?"
"they aren't here" lucy assured "let's go home and call the hospital, there is no use in panicking right now"
"o-okay" lockwood nodded
lucy had sent george and lockwood into the kitchen, so she could call the hospital, without lockwood hearing the conversation. she wasn't surprised when there was no one there that fit your description
before she could tell either george or lockwood, there doorbell rang. lucy wasn't fast enough to open the door, when lockwood came rushing down the hallway and dragged it open.
"y/n!" he said relieved.
lucy peeked around his shoulder. and indeed, in front of the door were you, accompanied by flo, who was holding you.
"i suggested the hospital, but they wanted to see you first" lockwood was holding you before flo could even finish saying that.
"what happened?" george was standing next to lucy and watching the scene play out in confusion "how did they disappear?"
"they didn't" flo helped lockwood to get you inside and on the couch "they came to me as fast as possible, i don't just carry these around with me for fun" she was holding up an adrenaline shot.
"i knew i needed something fast" you said "flo was the quickest option, i don't think i would've survived without her immediate help"
"no problem" flo shrugged and lockwood sighed
"we thought we had lost you" he muttered "i thought i had lost you"
"never" you smiled "but i couldn't risk that ghost touching you"
"that was so stupid" george shook his head
"and incredibly brave" lucy added proudly
"you're still bleeding from the head" flo reminded, plastering your wound with one of the tissues from the side table.
lockwood was broken out of his trance by that. "yeah, flo's right" he walked back into the hallway, putting on his coat, before he returned "let's get you to the hospital"
everyone helped to get you out of the house and into the nearest cab.
"don't you ever try to save me again" lockwood said later, while he was sitting next to your bed, after the doctor had seen you and you had received medication and bandaging for your head wound.
"oh, lockwood" you sighed "of course i'm always going to save you"
"this one was so close" lockwood nestled his head in your lap "i thought the ghost had touched you and send you into oblivion"
you smiled sadly
"i didn't even hear you hit the ground" lockwood went on "i tried to look for you, but the ghost was still there and by the time i got to the window you were gone"
"i didn't hit the ground" you smiled at the glimpse of relief in his eyes "i fell onto this very old sofa that was standing there perfectly, like it had been waiting to catch me"
"so it didn't hurt as much?" he asked
"not as much as it could've" you shrugged "otherwise my head wouldn't be in one piece anymore"
"oh god" lockwood muttered lowly "that would be awful"
"it would" you grinned
"but i knew if someone could survive this it would be you"
you smiled at his compliment "luckily, because you would be flying through oblivion right now, if i hadn't saved your fine little ass" you giggled at lockwoods dramatically offended expression
"well, thank you for saving my, what did you say? 'fine little ass'?" he laughed "i don't think i got to thank you until now"
"don't worry, you don't have to thank me" you combed through his hair "i'd do it over and over again"
"i would do the same for you"
"i know, darling" you kissed his forehead and watched happily how his eyes fluttered close "i know"

note: SURPRISE SURPRISE!! posting three fics in a day must be a new record! you could say i'm in my active era 😇
one of his hands was gliding through his hair and it fell into place effortlessly. you almost lost your mind at it. he put the sword back into it's holder with his other hand, looking around the house to see if his help was still needed somewhere. then he noticed you and came over.
"hello, love" he smiled brightly, before he kissed you
"are you finished?"
quill nodded happily, interlacing your fingers and following you away from the scene. leaving everyone else behind.
you made your way to arif's next. sitting down in your favorite booth and odering your favorite donuts, laughing, talking.
you could feel the eyes of some of the costumers, watching you and your boyfriend lovingly. they would smile when you did and gush when he kissed your hand or made you blush.
one lady even complimented the two of you directly, after quill had left the last donut for you.
he had brought some uno cards, because it was your favorite card game and you won against him three times, while enjoying your hot chocolate.
"i love winter" quill was watching the snow fall from the window, while you were shuffling the cards for another round
"yeah?" you laughed, always excited to find out something new about him. it was amazing to have known a person for such a long time and still finding out new things about them. "but you hate the cold"
he shrugged his shoulder, taking his eyes off the window and back to you "doesn't matter. i still love winter"
"that's such a contrary belief, darling"
"i know" he smiled "that's what makes me interesting"
"you can't love and hate the cold at the same time" you giggled "that's not how it works"
"can i tell you a secret?" he motioned for you to lean forward on the table, coming closer as well and then muttering softly into your ear "i don't care"
you laughed again. the sensation of his breath tickling your neck.
"okay" you handed him his cards "guess i have to accept that"
after you had won once again, or maybe he had lost on purpose, you couldn't tell, the two of you left arif's. saying goodbye to the guests that had not stopped smiling since the two of you had arrived.
he walked you home. the snow was falling even thicker than before. you felt yourself starting to love winter as well. just because he did. just because you loved everything he did.
"what do you like most about winter?" you asked
"how quiet it gets" quill smiled, waving his hand through the air, trying to catch snowflakes. "it's almost peaceful"
you watched him lovingly. he looked like a little boy again. you wondered why everything he did and said always seemed so magical to you. almost like he was special, different to everyone you had ever met.
almost like he wasn't real. right out of a fairytale or some old folklore.
"i like snow" you said softly when he showed you one of the snowflakes he had caught, before it turned into water from the warmth of his hand.
"i like you" quill kissed your temple. "even more than i like winter"
"that seems exaggerated" you rolled your eyes
"it isn't" quill assured honestly. his eyes were shining through, standing out from the white snow all around you and you wanted to cry. "you're my favorite"
"you're my favorite, too"
he squeezed your hand, while the both of you fell into comfortable silence. you stopped in front of your house and he tilted his head, so his face met the falling snow.
"you will get ill" you reminded
he shrugged his shoulders, quickly kissing your lips
"you're so cold" you giggled, trying to escape his arms.
"but you're warm" he argued laughing at the way you were trying to get away from him without a chance.
finally, you gave up, just letting him hold you and looking into his eyes. one of his hands went into his hair again and it fell into place effortlessly.
"stop staring" you looked to your side, confused where the voice had come from. "he's gonna notice!" there it was again. "y/n!" lucy called louder now and you tore your eyes away from quill to look at her.
"huh?" you questioned. lucy was standing next to you, looking in the same direction you had a second ago. quill was busy fixing his sword and looking if he was still needed.
there was no snow around you. it wasn't even winter.
"you really have to stop doing that" lucy said serious "he's way too old for you as well"
"you're right" you smiled sadly, following her back to where george and lockwood were waiting.
your eyes fell onto quill one last time. he noticed you looking and raised his arm, waving at you while he smiled. you waved back, all while asking yourself what it must be like to grow up that beautiful.
you would never get an answer to that.

summary: you and quill wind down after a long day
warnings: mentions of blood and a wound
"it hurts" quill whined and you rolled your eyes at him.
"you man child" you continued taping the wound with a soft cotton pad you had dabbed into alcohol "it's only gonna get infected if i don't take care of it now"
"i know" quill muttered, looking away dramatically
"and.. we're done" you softly rubbed the plaster, that was now covering his wound. you got down from your position on the counter, getting rid of the used cotton pads.
"thank you" quill turned his arms to inspect the plaster "princess themed, really?"
you giggled, leaving the bathroom.
today had been a pretty big case you had to tackle. first, there were two more ghosts than expected and then a few of your iron flames didn't work, resulting in quill getting his wound.
"i think you'll survive this" you sat down on the couch, opening your arms so he would come cuddle with you
"thank you" he kissed your cheeks, before he layed down in your lap "you're the best doctor"
"i know" you smiled "that's why you kept me, isn't it"
"that and because you always look really good" he laughed "except for that one time you fell into the mud"
"that was literal ages ago" your mouth was wide open, nit believing that he was mentioning it now "and i broke my arm, remember?"
"your arm is all healed now" he pointed his finger at it "so it's okay to laugh about it"
"it's not" you shook your head "it hurt so bad"
"i know" he rolled his eyes smiling "i saw you ugly crying"
"you're mean" you pouted in fake offence
"'m sorry baby" he raised his head, kissing the side of your mouth "you're always pretty. even with a broken arm and covered in mud"
"you're always pretty too, even with a wound that might cost you your arm" you replied sarcastically "at least that's what someone could think from hearing you scream"
"not funny" quill grumbled "i'm a tough man"
"you are" you nodded "a no little cut will make me doubt that"
"stop it" he pulled your hair in a joking manner
"i won't mention it again" you assured, combing through his hair. "i'll make it up to you, by watching what you want tonight, alright?
quill had already leaned over you and gotten the remote control from off the table. "awesome"
"don't get ahead of yourself" you rolled your eyes, but watched in silent happiness how he chose one of your favorite shows and put his arms around your sides, not letting you go anywhere.

summary: you celebrate your birthday for your friends only, lockwood celebrates your birthday for you
warnings: mentions of a bad home life
note: first, happy belated birthday and sorry it took me so long to finish your request, but here it is, finally!!
“—happy birthday dear y/n, happy birthday to you!!”
you blew out the candles in front of you, your friends laughing joyfully and hugging you.
lucy and george got out plates and were too busy chopping the cake into four pieces to notice you and lockwood looking at each other. he send you a smile and you smiled back, despite not really being in the mood to eat cake and celebrate your birthday.
you could do this for them. it was only one day, what did it matter?
george had taken the whole day before this to bake the cake and was now proudly serving it to you. how could you even think about not eating it? his eyes were gleaming and it broke your heart just to think about telling him the truth.
the truth was, to put it plainly that you had always hated to celebrate your birthday. you couldn't even say why. it just was a day that you would rather spend alone in your room crying than socialize.
but these were your friends, your family. how could you deny them something that made them so happy? you just couldn't.
after each of your had finished the piece of cake in front of you, george and lucy went into the living room, setting up a game for you all to play together.
lockwood and you stayed behind in the kitchen, washing the dishes.
"i can see that you aren't enjoying yourself"
"what?" you looked up from the plate in your hand
lockwood leaned closer to you, whispering "you've been scrubbing that plate for the last four minutes"
"oh" you quickly put it down so he could dry it
"you'd rather not celebrate, huh?"
you shook your head and lockwood nodded. "i thought so" he dried up the last plate. "think you can do it for one more hour?"
you nodded and he smiled. you followed him into the living room, owning up to what he had asked you. you played a game of cards, uno then some charades. about an hour later, lockwood excused the both of you.
it wasn't as late as you had thought, but the sun had still gone down, by the time lockwood took you out of the house.
the way wasn't long, only to the little garden behind the house, setting down a picknick blanket and a small lantern.
"what are we doing?" you asked intrigued
"watching the stars" he sat down on the blanket and patted the spot next to him
you settled down beside lockwood on the soft blanket, the cool night air wrapping around you. above, the stars glittered like scattered diamonds against the dark sky.
lockwood reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, wrapped box. "happy birthday, y/n," he said
you both lay back on the blanket, gazing up at the stars. The silence between you was comfortable, and you felt a sense of calm wash over you.
"you know," lockwood broke the silence, "birthdays are a strange thing. for some, they're a reason to celebrate, and for others, it's a day they'd rather forget. why is it that you fall into the second category"
you pondered his question "when i grew up, birthdays were never a special thing. you didn't accomplish anything, why should that be celebrated" you trailed off, glancing at the stars. "but tonight, it feels different."
lockwood nodded in understanding, "i'm sorry they made you feel like that"
"don't be" you shook your head "i have it a lot better now"
lockwood smiled "sometimes, all you need is a break from the usual"
the two of you continued to stargaze, losing track of time as the night unfolded around you. the weight of the day seemed to lift, and you found solace in the simplicity of the moment, feeling peace at the silence.
eventually, you turned to lockwood with a genuine smile, "thank you for making my birthday special in your own way."
he grinned back, "anytime, y/n"
and so, under the vast, starlit sky, you found a different kind of celebration—one that felt uniquely yours, shared with a friend who understood the beauty of quiet moments and the peace you found in the simple act of watching the stars.

lockwood was doing what he did often, watching you sit on a stair, wating for your brother to come back, without moving a muscle.
"do you see that?" lockwood turned his head to look at george, pointing you out to his friend "he just lets her sit there and disappears for gods knows how long"
"it's a shame" george nodded and lockwood couldn't tell if he was being sarcastic or genuine. "but everyone knows how he treats her, lockwood and it's her own decision, that she tolerates that. i don't think she would fancy you saving her"
lockwood decided to ignore the last thing george had said "how bad of a brother do you have to be for everyone else to know?"
george just shrugged and lockwood was ready to repeat what he had said (for the simple need of getting an answer), when lucy entered his field of vision and involuntary declared herself his new victim.
"thank you, george" lockwood patted his friends shoulder, while pushing his empty glass into the hands of one very confunsed george.
"do you see that?" lockwood stepped next to lucy, without bothering to think of a new introductory sentence.
"huh?" lucy turned her head to the side, confused by lockwoods sudden appearance. "what did you say?"
lockwood pointed in your direction and lucy followed his eyes
"y/n?" lucy asked, not sure what lockwood was saying
"yeah, y/n" lockwood nodded aggravated "just y/n" he took a glass of champagne from one of the servers trays, downing it at once. "he left her waiting again. i thought maybe you could go talk to her, you being a girl and all"
lucy rolled her eyes, glaring at the boy "you want me to go over there and tell her to not accept her brother treating her horribly?"
"precisely"
"her brother who's a decorated member at fittes?"
lockwood nodded again "forget it" lucy shook her head, laughing dryly "i'm not getting involved in quill kipps' mess"
"it's y/n's mess too!" lockwood said angrily, outstretching his arm and pointing his hand in your direction
"why don't you go over there?" lucy crossed her arms, smiling triumphantly.
"because it's not my business?" lockwood said a bit too fast, not thinking his answer through. lucy send him a blank stare. "yeah, i'll just go over there" lockwood said quickly, not in the mood to fight with lucy and lose once again
"yeah, you better" lucy waved at him
lockwood groaned under his breath, putting his empty glass on an abondened table, before he continued his walk in your direction. as always, you were looking beautiful. your hair was curled and your dress had the most beautiful maroon color he had ever seen.
you turned your head in his direction, noticing him, when he was a few meters away. it wouldn't have taken a genius to see that anthony lockwood was in love with you, and still you had never noticed.
"hey" lockwood smiled, holding out his hand to help you up "you shouldn't be sitting on those stairs, your dress might get ruined"
"oh, well, quill has been gone for some minutes and it was too tiring to stand this entire time"
"why don't you join our table, then?" lockwood suggested
you looked through the crowd of people, trying to find quill. you laughed, unsurely, before you finally nodded "it probably wouldn't hurt" you smiled, taking him up on his offer and following him through the crowd.
"hey guys!" you smiled once your sight fell on george and lucy. both of them just stared back at you with big eyes. "sorry" you scratched your arm "do i have something on my face?" george quickly shook his head, while lucy stayed motionless in place
finally. "lockwood" lucy said through gritted teeth "could i talk to you for a second?"
you send a confused look in lockwoods direction, who just smiled at you, totally unaffected by lucy's threatening tone. "why don't you sit down with george?" he pulled back one of the chairs for you to sit down "we'll be back in just a second"
you nodded, sitting down on the chair. lockwood and lucy didn't really walk far until they started discussing. you could make out some words like 'kipp's mess' and 'saviour complex' that lucy directed at lockwood.
you smiled awkwardly at george. "how do you.. like the party this far?"
"eeh, it's fine" george looked anywhere but at you
"food and drinks are free" you smiled, nudging him "that sounds a bit better than just fine, doesn't it?"
george shrugged, seemingly uninterested in holding up a conversation with you and before you could start another hopeless attempt to get him to speak, lockwood and lucy were already back. by the looks of it they were not able to sort out their differences.
lucy sat down in the chair next to george, crossing her arms and sending looks at lockwood that could've killed.
lockwood, absolutely unbothered, didn't even look at her. instead he was watching you. "do you want to eat something?" he asked "we haven't ordered anything yet"
you shook your head "nah, i promised quill that we would eat together"
"how long has he been gone for?" lockwood asked intrigued
you shrugged your shoulders "i don't know, an hour maybe?"
"woah, that's pretty long, right guys?" lockwood looked between george and lucy, obviously expecting some type of reaction. lucy ignored him completely, while george nodded slowly, unsure if he wanted to even get involved in whatever lockwood was doing.
you shook your head "it's fine. i don't mind waiting"
"you can stay with us" lucy smiled at you and made it perfectly clear, that she wasn't angry at you, but lockwood. you always liked lucy. she was welcoming and you loved to listen to her complain about her two male roommates.
with george you didn't really have a relationship. you were friendly towards each other but never really talked apart from that.
and lockwood? lockwood something different. your brother hated him, so you weren't really allowed to spend any time in his company, apart from when they would fight with each other. but he was always nice and you could call him a friend. you had done your best to prevent it, but you had also developed a little crush on him these past few years. something quill would have your head for if he knew. but lockwood was your chance of freedom. he was everything your brother despised and that just made it all the more daunting.
"lockwood" the voice behind you send shivers down your spine.
"kipps" lockwood smiled, overly satisfied, while he turned around in his chair, putting an protective arm on yours and blocking your brothers contact to you.
"y/n" quill muttered "didn't i tell you to wait there?" he poined across the room
you sighed silently "sorry" you patted lockwoods leg "we were just catching up and you were gone for some time, so i thought-" you didn't get to finish that sentence
"what the fuck do you not understand in 'wait here'?" quill was angry and you didnt want to fight. but before you could say sorry again, lucy jumped to your rescue.
"this is all your fault" she muttered under her breath, seemingly talking to lockwood before she turned her head to your brother "i'm really sorry" she smiled brightly "i thought y/n and i could talk a bit. i miss having a girl around"
"oh" quill said confused. his anger had suddenly evapurated. he didn't really mind you spending time with girl generally or lucy in particular. "well, i didn't know that" he averted his eyes. "i'll be at our table. see you there" he walked away and you knew that this was him telling you to be there in less than ten minutes or something would happen
"does- does he always talk to you like that?" george asked hesitantely. you could see on his face that he was unsure if he wanted an answer to that. he probably didn't even want to involve himself in anything that was about you.
"yeah" you muttered, a bit ashamed of the way your brother acted even in front of other people "at least since i'm living with him"
"why don't you just leave?" lucy leaned over the table, confusion evident on her face
"i won't" you said honestly "after our dad died, my mother wasn't able to finance my schooling, but quill was. i owe him something"
"you don't owe him anything" lockwood shook his head "don't you ever get angry at the way he treats you"
"more often than you would think" you eyes wandered across the room. quill was telling some fittes guy a story. he was laughing and widely gesturing. you couldn't remember the last time he had laughed in your presence. "he didn't always used to be like this. our father and him were close and it took a toll on him"
"you're still his sister" lucy reminded
"oh, i know that" you smiled sadly "i wouldn't have stayed if i wasn't"
"how long are you planning to stay?"
you shrugged your shoulders. "as long as i have to. i'll save some money until i have enough to pay him back and rent something"
lockwood looked at his friends. eyebrows raised. you could see the gears turning in their heads, before lucy repeatedly shook her head. george didn't seem happy as well. lockwood turned back to you
"how would you liked to work at lockwood and co?" he asked, beaming "you could move in with us, save money to pay your brother back and not have to indulge his presence. i hear you're pretty good with sight"
you were stunned at his suggestion "do you really mean that?" you asked hopeful
"yeah, lockwood" lucy raised her eyebrows, daring him to answer "do you really mean that?"
"of course" lockwood smiled "we want to help you, right guys?" lucy and george both averted their eyes. you noticed the growing tension
"you really don't have to" you said "i don't think george or lucy are too convinced. i can take another year or two with quill"
as if on cue, quill made his way across the venue. "shit" you whispered as soon as you noticed him moving closer. you did the first thing you could think of, knowing he would cause a scene as soon as he had found you. you took lockwoods hands, dragging him in the other direction quickly.
you two ended up in a broom closet. of all places.
"did you meant to walk into a broom closet?" lockwood asked behind you
"of course not" you opened the door slowly "well. it's too late now anyway" you closed the door again and leaned your back against it
"okay, why are we here exactly?" lockwood made a gesture to open the door, but you pushed him back slightly
"my brother would've caused a scene if he had found me"
"alright" lockwood said, but then raised his brows "and he wouldn't if he found you here?"
you suddenly noticed how you had brought yourself into an even worse situation. lockwood and you were standing pretty close to each other. you could feel his breath fanning over your cheek and you nodded. "he totally would" you laughed and lockwood joined in "he hates you guts"
"can't say i particulary like him" lockwood admitted shamelessly "but he has a beautiful sister"
"well, thank you" you could feel the redness entering you cheeks. at least it was a bit darker in here "he probably would cut my head off if he found us here. even if i told him that it isn't what it looks like"
"well, what does it look like?" lockwood muttered, even closer now
you looked up at him with big eyes. he almost falted under that look. he wanted to kiss you so badly and he was wishing you would indicate the same
"i mean- eh it does look pretty compromising"
"does it now?"
"yeah" your voice had jumped a pitch higher at his close proximity. but you couldn't help but wish for him to finally kiss you. "please" you muttered
"what do you want, darling?" he asked softly, pushing one strand of hair behind your ear.
"please" you repeated "kiss me"
lockwood didn't wait for a second demand. he closed the space between you, interlocking your lips. he tasted sweet, a bit like marshmallows and you smiled into the kiss. your hands wandered to his neck, pushing him impossibly closer, while his hands wandered to your lower back, returning the pressure you were exerting.
he pressed you against the door and you voluntarily opened your mouth for his tongue to enter. faster than you had expected, he broke the kiss, sloppily kissing your neck instead
"shit" you muttered lowly. you quickly gripped his neck, pushing his face away from your neck and back to your mouth. you continued that play for at least ten minutes, when you suddenly remembered why you had been hiding here in the first place
"thank you for your offer" you said, breathlessly "but i can do it for a bit longer"
"is he ever gonna stop treating you this way?" lockwood kissed your temple
"i don't know" you shrugged "but i will talk to him. you guys were right, i shouldn't just accept it. my father died too"
"i'll be here anytime you need me" lockwood assured "or anytime you just want to make out"
you smiled brightly at the boy, pecking his lips, before you opened the door to the closet. "time for the real world, pretty boy"
"i like the sound of.." lockwood interrupted himself. right before the very door you had come out of, now watching your flustered faces distastefully, was standing none other than quill kipps
"what the fuck" he said angrily when he had connected the dots. you were ready to tell him that nothing had happened, but suddenly remembered that that wouldn't be the whole truth
"hey" you smiled, unsure what to say in your defence
"y/n" quill said slowly, and you were glad that the room was outside of the ballroom. the guests or anyone else wouldn't hear him scream at you. "did you two just fuck in there?" you could almost see smoke coming out of his ears. his eyes had fallen to to strap of your dress, that was now hanging at your elbow. you quickly fixed it
"what?" you asked surprised "no, of course not" you knew lockwood was smiling without looking at him. he put his arm around you, pulling you closer at your waist.
"you're not speaking to your sister in that tone" he declared and you send him a wide eyed look. it was hard enough for you to stand up for quill, but he definitely would never listen to lockwood of all people
"yeah, or what?"
"watch yourself" lockwood was angry now, too. "she's still your sister"
"and you are?" quill crossed his arms "you're no one, nothing to her at all"
"leave him alone" you muttered. you had never once even protested at what your brother had said at you, but it was different when he spoke to lockwood that way
"what the fuck did you just say?" quill asked surprised, he had forgotten his anger for the time to be
"you heard me" you said a bit louder now "and you heard him too. you can change your tone when speaking to me"
"ooh" quill laughed "the little miss is making demands"
"i tolerated it long enough" you reminded him "i understood you were griefing, but so was i. you never had any sympathy towards me, so why would i still have any for you? especially since you're ordering me around like your little maid" lockwood squeezed your side
"who put a roof over your head? who payed for everything and anything you needed?"
"you did"
"right" quill smiled smugly
"and i'm thankful for you doing all of that for me. i never even complained, but all of it does not warrant you treating me the way you do"
"watch what you're saying" quill pointed his finger at you accusingly "i prepared you for the real world, i brought you up and you go and throw all of it away for some boy. why do you act like a slut"
the gasp that left lockwoods mouth could've been loud enough for everyone outside the building to hear
"how dare you call me that?" tears entered your eyes slowly. lockwood was pulling up his sleeves, ready to fight the older boy, but you held his arm down. "i'm still your sister" you reminded quill, who looked a bit remorseful at your tears
he sighed, turning away, before he looked back at you "i didn't mean it like that. you're making it hard for me to trust you when you walk off and sleep with the enemy as soon as i leave you own your own"
"i didn't even sleep with him" you screamed angrily. quills eyes had grown big. never in your life had you ever screamed at him. "but if i wanted to i could, because i'm almost an adult"
"you're a kid" quill spat "and it's my job to take care of you. make sure that you turn out well and not get yourself knocked up at seventeen"
"oh my god" you groaned "i didn't sleep with anyone" you repeated once again
"i know" quill said surprisingly soft "but mum did. she ended up pregnant and without any degree in anything. and now, after dad’s death she has nothing to support you with, not even herself. i want you to make different decisions, to be smart and learn something, before you lose focus and fall in love"
you sighed "i understand that" you turned your head to look at lockwood, smiling slightly "but i think it's already too late"
quill sighed as well.
"you didn't have to treat me the way you did" you said "you could've just been honest with me, you know?"
"i know" quill nodded "but i was never good at these things.." he paused, tears briming at the corners of his eyes "dad was"
"i miss him too" you admitted, your voice breaking "and i hate what his death did to you. you weren't always like this"
quill nodded and couldn't bring himself to look you in the eyes. you were right about this, he knew you were. but he had just tried to make a good person out of you. he knew that it wasn't an excuse, but he was working in a dangerous field and he thought that if he would be distant and mean, you wouldn't mourn his death as much as you had did your dad's. "i'm sorry" quill said truthfully and you could see the remorse in his eyes
"i don't want to hate you"
quill nodded
"but you have to be better. an apology alone is not enough. i love you but i'm not beneath receiving any love back" you told him "you have to change the way you treat me, honestly quill, it's not okay" slowly, but determinated, you stepped closer to hug him.
you couldn't remember the last time you had done that. you had missed you brothers warmth. he had always been a good brother, before all this mess had happened and you knew you could forgive him eventually. both of you had taken far too long to have an honest conversation
"we will fix it, i promise" quill muttered into your hair and you nodded, before you losened the hug.
quill's eyes fell upon lockwood. he send him a nod. "thank you for being nice to her"
lockwood contemplated to scatter salt into the wound by saying something along the lines of 'i was just doing what you apparently couldn't', but then instead he just nodded. "of course"
quill smiled tightlipped, before he turned back to you. "and once we get home, we will have a very important conversation"
"quill" you laughed uncomfortably and your brother laughed as well. the sound send shivers down your spine and you had rarely been this happy. for the first time in a long time it seemed like everything would become good again.
"i'll call you" you smiled in lockwoods direction, before you followed your brother out of the estate.
not because he had told you, but because you just wanted to and that was a very good feeling.
