Loz Epona - Tumblr Posts
Ocarina of Time will always have a place in my heart.
Epona designs
Still have to colour them, this is an idea that I had this week. I might post them seperatedly or together. I haven't decided yet
Time`s Epona
Ever since I have fallen into the rabbit hole that is Linked Universe as well as LoZ, I have noticed that most of the time only Twilight`s and Time`s Epona are mentioned, sometimes Wild`s. When there are in fact more of them. Last week while I was doing some one on one bonding time with one of the mares at the stable I go to, an idea popped into my head. All different Epona`s aren`t the same, they can`t be due to different time periods as well as genetics. Even related horses have different markings, fur and mane colour. Genetics are weird.
So here is the Hero of Times Epona:
I looked at pictures on the internet to give her a general design. White blaze, all four socks at the same height and darker shaded spots all over her fur, there are some near her hooves as well. It`s something I`ve seen with a lot of horses at the barn, the spots aren`t very subtle here. I also used a normal pencil to make the mane more hairy like. Black fur on all four legs and her muzzle too. And to end it all off I used a blue and gold coloured pencil for her eyes.
See you all next time
Twilight`s Epona
And here I`m introducing you all to another Epona. For her design I also looked at photos on the internet. We know that Time and Twilight are related, it is possible for their horses to be related as well, but as stated in a previous post genetics are weird. An offspring can have completely different shaped markings and fur colour from the parents. To give a real life example both parents are bays and their little one is a chestnut. Seeing as how the mare`s sire was a chestnut that gene must have skipped a generation which explains the little one being a different colour.
Let`s not get off track, let me introduce you to the Hero of Twilights Epona:
She has a star like shaped blaze on her forehead. Her right front and back left socks are taller than her right back and left front ones. She also has some different coloured and shaped markings all over her body. And same hairy feel to her mane. Her eyes are blue and gold coloured.
See you all next time
Warrior`s Epona
Today I`m introducing you all to Warrior`s Epona. Also I will be spewing facts about horses that I have learned during the past months as seen in previous posts I have made. Mostly to rant my heart out so people won`t be idiots around them. For example when approaching horses make sure they can see you at all times, do not approach from the back for safety reasons. So they don`t kick you by accident. Approaching or entering a horses stall without permission is also something you shouldn`t do. The position of their ears is a good indicator on how a horse feels.
That will be all for now, so here is the Hero of Warriors Epona:
So I gave her a wavy like blaze and ˝rings`` on her legs. She also has two braids in her mane and two in her tail, the braids end with blue and red beads. Her in game counterpart has braids, so she had to have them as well, I just made it harder for myself by drawing four of them instead of just the two, but Warriors is fancy so in a way his Epona had to be fancy as well. This man loves his horse and he wants her to look her best. She also has darker coloured stripes all over her body. I know the only way for a horse to have stripes irl is by breeding a horse with a zebra. BUT Hyrule is a magical fantasy world, thus some if not most real life genetics do not apply here. She also has four socks that are separated by the rings of similar lengths. And the whole hairy like mane and tail. Her eyes are green and gold.
See you all next time.
Wild`s Epona
And today I am introducing you to Wild`s Epona, but before that some more horse facts. If a horse does something unexpected don`t panic, staying calm is the best way to keep the situation under control. Because if you panic the horse will panic as well and things will go to hell really fast. Which also means that horses are very good at detecting our emotions, they know when you need to let out your feelings. They are sensitive animals that should be treated with kindness and respect they deserve.
Epona here has a dark dark muzzle, fire like wavy blaze. Her coat is a reddish brown dark colour, with some lighter colour in some places. the lighter patches are mostly a mistake on my part when I was fixing some erased parts and took a wrong pen to fix it. Anyway she has multiple rings on her legs, the socks on right side are longer, than the socks on her left side. To end it all of her eyes are a blue gold mix.
See you all next time.
I wonder what would happen if the Chain had not only Twilight’s Epona but also Warriors’ Epona? I mean, I know I haven’t finished Hyrule Warriors yet but I can imagine that a war horse of Epona’s size would be slightly terrifying to enemies. I definitely imagine Epona crushing enemies and traitors alike underneath her hooves and probably enjoying it when it was traitors that tried to hurt Warriors. It also helps that Epona is most likely a small Shire horse which is one of the tallest horse breeds.
I can also imagine Warriors spoiling her to high heaven after battles were done. Like once the battle was over and they were safe, Warriors starts pampering her. If he wasn’t injured himself, he would clean the blood and guts off of her and make sure she is ready for next battle. Gives her extra treats when he can. Plus other things that horse owners do because I don’t own a horse.
After the war, I’m sure Warriors started spoiling her even more. That girl is spoiled but not afraid of kicking anyone who deserves it. Snotty nobles? Deserve it. Women and men who were told no? Totally deserved it. Cia? Definitely deserved it and probably more. Legend? OK maybe she shouldn’t have kicked him but she doesn’t like the ‘pretty boy’ nickname and comments.
All and all? I need more war horse Epona!
I was looking over some things I had asked others and my ADHD got to thinking without my consent but made me laugh.
Ok so @maesonc-artistic-adventures made art of what Warriors’ dragon armor would look like and I commented about Wild stealing that outfit. Fast forward, I saw my ask for @ask-the-nine-links for Halloween that involves art from @dfanart and my mind went spinning.
I just realized I mentioned 3 people. Oh well.
Anyways I headcanon that Cia (no she’s not dead, yet) is punished for her actions (like she should) and she can’t teleport directly into the castle. In fact, there’s only one place where she is able to teleport to by the castle before she can go in if she has business. That place? The stables.
Since I also headcanon Epona being severely protective of Warriors and prefers crushing things with her hooves, Cia is in for a world of pain every time she visits. Now you’re probably wondering ‘well couldn’t Epona accidentally kill her?’ No, because I headcanon (i’m using that word a lot in this post) that Cia and Lana can’t be killed normally. Also one can’t not be killed without killing the other. That’s why she hasn’t been executed yet.
Anyways my mind went to Wild coming upon her after she got trampled again and thinking she was dead, steals her clothes right off her body. Because you cannot tell me he would not do that. Wild goes “She’s dead, she doesn’t need these anymore.”
Wild would totally do that and probably change into her clothes right there before going back his brothers. Only to be told she’s not dead, just severely unconscious. He still would not be giving back her clothes though.

More LU!Warriors headcanons!
I decided to also post (and repost when it wasn’t coming up on the search bar) this. I'm sure some of us LU!Warriors lovers have seen @sirassban's post on Albino!Wars and I'm sure a lot of us adopt it as our own. Some because it's so cute, and some because that means new ways to torture him. Don't even try and deny it, we love to angst that boy. So here's my own headcanons on Albino! Wars though this is mostly about his backstory that I created. Though it also works in other universe where he isn't albino.
Note that I did do some research on albinos to try and make this accurate. If lif it turns out I am wrong, well whoops. Also note, I am going to add more military ranks than the normal Hylian captain and general we see in the game.
Link and Linkle are fraternal twins but with a bit of makeup, some heeled boots for Linkle, and some clothes, they look identical. Only Link is albino, Linkle is normal blonde self.
The twins were actually separated when they were a few months old. Their parents were very wealthy, kind nobles but their father died the day they were born. Their mother was killed on the orders of other corrupted nobles, who wanted their wealth despite the laws saying they would have to wait about two decades, in order to claim that wealth if there are no heirs. The servants save them at the cost of them being separated.
Linkle was given to an old farming couple who adopted her as their granddaughter, as they had no children and grandchildren, but always wanted some. (They're basically Hylian versions of Eustace and Muriel from Courage the Cowardly Dog.)
Link was first adopted by a retired knight turned baker and his Gerudo seamstress wife. They loved and raised him as their own until he was 13 when his town was burn to the ground by bandits. He is the only known survivor.
After that, he somehow managed to find his way to CastleTown. More specifically the stables of Hyrule castle by CastleTown. He hid in the stables due to not trusting people because of the bandits.
Before his village was destroyed, Warriors loved helping out at the local farms that had horses and became quite adept at taking care of horses.
He helped take care of the horses in the stable when the stablehands weren't around. They didn't know he was there.
He took great care of Epona when she was born. Especially since her mother rejected her and the stablehands decided this was a good enough reason not to take care of her, saying there must be something wrong with her if her mother rejected her. Epona was born completely healthy. Her mother rejected her due to stress and being a first-time mom. Which is unfortunately not that uncommon.
When Epona was a few months old, she alerted the stablehands and her sire's rider to Link's presence due to the fact that Link fainted. He suffered severe malnutrition to the point the stablehands thought he was dead. Epona's sire's rider thought otherwise and took Link to the castle's infirmary.
The rider eventually decided to foster Link once he learned about Link's situation.
He's the Lieutenant General, I mentioned in the other post.
Link eventually made a full recovery. He was weary of his foster father at first but grew to accept him as his father. He never forgets his adopted parents and honors them and his birth parents when he learns who they were.
After the war started and meeting Linkle, the twins learn about their birth parents and managed to claim their inheritance before the time limit ends. The twins are now incredibly wealthy.
Out of the Chain, only Wild is richer than Warriors. But he's not allowed to spend lot in one setting because he will ruin his Hyrule’s economy if he does.
And I'm ending it here. Enjoy!
