again w/ the weird eugenics youtube vids [edit bc i realised something wasn't super clear; from what i remember w/ the "reacting 2 'mixed race wh!te passing women are not our allies'" vid it was a i think monoracial black woman [again my memory could b fuzzy but i am *not* subjecting myself 2 that video again] and she got her 2 mixed women friends 2 react 2 this video w/ her that was talking ab how they aren't allies 2 the wider poc community and don't belong in it "the girl w/ the braids" that every1 keeps referencing in the comments was literally just pointing out the problems in the video and the woman making the video and the ppl in the comments got mad at her 4 not agreeing w/ this video that was talking abt how she doesn't belong]
idk much abt what what context this was supposed 2 b in when this person who originally said this said it but this is all the context i got 4 this tumblr post so it's going on here, let's make this clear; colourism is a problem and should b talked abt and we should try 2 get rid of colourism and some light-skinned and ""white passing"" members of the community can experience erasure and oppression both from outside and within the community r 2 ideas that can and should exist 2gether, just like how it's not ok 2 talk over or try 2 silence the voices of ppl w/ darker skin when they talk abt colourism it's also not ok 2 talk over or silence the voices of light-skinned and ""white passing"" ppl when we tell u abt our struggles like the constant erasure that we face from all sides [will add more when i find more]
[mixed ppl feel free 2 add ur own experiences/things u've seen no matter what ur mixed w/ as long as ur not trying 2 act like ppl mixed w/ white r the same as white ppl]
