Is it just me, or are the characters of Vetinari, Vimes and Moist Von Lipwig supposed to be metaphors for the ideals of how ethical and smart the systems of politics, law enforcement and capitalism respectively could hypothetically be?

so moist von lipwig is a literal biblical angel. he's a messenger, his uniform has wings, he has a multitude of eyes (all his different identities and the different 'inner selves' he shows to people). this book so far contains a delightful amount of religious imagery that i was not expecting
But did he invent the lyre?
Okay so I just finished Going Postal and started Making Money and I realized something.
Moist’s postmaster uniform is based on a statue of of a god in Discworld that’s inspired off of how Hermes looks with the wings and gold and all that. At first I wrote it off because okay, he’s messenger to the gods, makes sense Discworld had a version of him. But then the book mentions that moist might be an avatar for that god and I remembered something and realized it went so much deeper than that.
Hermes was also the god of theives, wealth, and travel.
Moist Von Lipwig was a theif/con artist before he became the post master.
Then the second book with Moist, Lord Vetinari has him take over the Royal Bank of Ankh-Morpork and the Ankh-Morpork Roayal Mint.
And in his final book, Raising Steam (which I haven’t read yet so I don’t know the details) , he’s given a job where he works for the newly invented railroad in Discworld.
Theif, Postmaster, Banker, Railroad Worker.
Theives, Messenger, Wealth, Travel.
They literally made Moist Von Lipwig a mortal of version Hermes, and this totally has to be intentional! Especially with the avatar thing!

This may or may not be a bold claim, but I think the word 'charisntma,' coined in Feet of Clay by Terry Pratchett to describe Cpl Nobbs describes Spamton G Spamton perfectly.
Ok finalized painting. Tried to add a bit of reflected light in the shadow and also make the golden suit shinier with some cadmium yellow.
Maybe I should sell this to help pay my rent this month.

Theres a throwaway line about Gladys the golem applying to be Moist's secretary and how she probably wants his job next... that would be cool, a golem as the master of the mint/bank chairman (especially since they are property until the golem trust gets to them and might have interesting ideas about how property should be handled and treated)
