woag i learned html to organize my tlt book recommendations
I write my fics out in Google Docs and then paste the text into Ao3 when I'm ready to post it. Does anyone else have the problem of pasting with italics? If there's a word in italics next to punctuation, Ao3 will add in a space for some reason and it's kind of infuriating.
One of the AO3 translation volunteers (Min) created a Google Docs script to handle issues when copying from a doc into AO3. It’s really easy to use
create a copy of this google doc. It contains the script that will do all of the HTML formatting for you.
Delete all of the text from the document.
Write or paste your fic/chapter into the document.
Go up to the top menu and click the new menu option Post to AO3, then choose Prepare for posting into the HTML editor
Note: because this is an apps script, you’ll need to give it permission to run the first time.
The script will automatically mark up your document with the required HTML that you can then paste into the AO3 composition window. \o/
To revert your text back to normal, just go back up to that menu and choose Remove HTML. It will look like regular text again.
Once you have the doc, you can make a new copy of it for each new fic you write and that way you’ll always have that script available when you need it :)

The ISU Congress voted in favor of the ISU Council Proposal 22 to gradually increase the age limit for Senior Skaters from 15 to 17 years for the sake of protecting the physical and mental health, and emotional well-being of the Skaters. There will be no change for the season 2022/23. An increase to 16 years for the season 2023/24 and an increase to 17 years for the season 2024/25 and subsequent seasons will then be implemented.
Other notable results include:
REJECTED - Proposal 1: Increase maximum age of ISU office holders from 75 to 80 (Note: Alexander Lakernik, current Vice President of Figure Skating, can no longer run for office.)
ACCEPTED - Proposal 11: Create separate Olympic Qualifying Competition to be hosted by different ISU Members (no longer only held with Nebelhorn)
REJECTED, FURTHER RESEARCH PLANNED - Proposal 25: Increase junior women’s age limit in pairs and ice dance to 21 to match the men
REJECTED - Proposal 27: Increase restrictions on skaters who wish to switch federations; skaters must obtain release from their previous federation if they competed in their national championships

Possible Good News For Bats
This spring, a possible cure for White-nose Syndrome was found by researchers at Georgia State University.
The disease is caused by a fungus (Pseudogymnoascus destructans) that infects bats while they hibernate. The lowered metabolism of hibernation results in a compromised immune system that makes them susceptible to disease. They end up burning fat twice as fast as healthy bats as they try to fight off the infection. This leaves them without enough fat stores to make it through the winter, and they effectively “starve” to death.
Biologists discovered that the bacteria Rhodococcus rhodochrousin, common in soils across North America, produces volatile compounds when grown on cobalt that are able to stop the White-nose Syndrome fungus from growing. Some 150 bats have been cured during initial trials so far, and while it’s early days yet, this offers hope for the future of bats in North America. To date, White-nose Syndrome has caused the death of some 6 million bats of 11 species, including some listed as endangered.
Little Brown Bats (Myotis lucifugus, shown with the powdered white skin characteristic of the disease), once common, have suffered around 94% mortality in the eastern half of the country. Is there a website to look up models or people to draw, with gender, ethnicity, and age filters. (if possible)?
For example if a wanted to make a cartoon character realistic and use a real person for reference or to edit the photo to look like them?

Introducing: A new Critical Role Wiki
As you may be aware, I’ve been involved with the Critical Role wiki on Fandom since last summer. This therefore may seem surprising, but: several dedicated former editors of the Fandom wiki, myself included, have made a new, ad-free wiki at https://criticalrole.miraheze.org. It contains much of the same material of the Fandom wiki (as is legal per the CC-BY-SA license, with full attribution), with a number of improvements made over the past month.
You may consider this our vote of no confidence in Fandom as a platform, and in the administration of the Fandom-hosted wiki.
We are doing this because the administrators of the Fandom wiki have repeatedly ignored the wishes of the community, shutting even experienced editors out from nearly all decisions, resisting even minor changes, and ignoring simple requests and basic admin tasks for months on end. They are also knowingly using fan art without artist permission* despite the strong and repeated urging of at least six experienced editors to remove it.
A recent formalization of the path to administrator roles explicitly limits new admins to people the current administration - all of whom were appointed by the wiki founder, with no input from the community - chooses. The leadership position on the wiki is now held by the person who started edit wars, protected pages, and blocked users to support presumptive and ultimately false narratives in favor of a particular ship, and who has shut down or deleted any criticism of these actions as being “bad faith.” The wiki administration has openly condoned plagiarism as a valid means of updating pages, and have consistently refused to take feedback seriously.
We are also dissatisfied with Fandom as a hosting site. In January, Fandom attempted to require an extensive and poorly handled rebranding of the wiki to promote TLOVM on behalf of Amazon (which was, to the credit of both the administrators and the editorship, unanimously resisted). I and others have additionally made repeated complaints about the administration to Fandom, none of which we believe have been taken seriously.
Despite the efforts of a passionate community, I believe the current administration will forever oppose most efforts to change or improve the wiki, and that Fandom is only interested in getting eyes on ads. We intend to provide a better option on an ad-free, open-source platform. If you share any of these frustrations or concerns, I invite you to join us.
Finally, I would be remiss if I did not thank multiple collaborators, including Ellis (not on Tumblr) for their tireless efforts. This would not have been possible without them.
Social media handles for the wiki will be forthcoming over the next few weeks. In the meantime feel free to ask me any questions you might have.
*If you are a fan artist concerned about stolen art: it’s primarily from early in Campaign 1, and can as of this time be found under the category “Images lacking permission”. Like I hope it’s genuinely understood by fandom that Daemon’s eagerness to marry Rhaenerya isn’t because of love, but because of power. He doesn’t see her as anything but a pawn at the moment, and took her out and left her in one of the most dangerous positions ever in order to destroy her reputation.
She could have been killed or raped where he left her, and he removed her hat knowing people would see who she was.
His interactions with her were pure manipulation and selfishness.
I’m just incredibly let down by the amount of people writing their night together off as some romantic get-away. Not, “My much older uncle took lured me outside under the guise of fun, got me drunk, touched me, left me half naked alone in a brothel, and didn’t care one bit if my reputation was ruined.”
How is that remotely romantic?
