Tips for improving vocabulary and being a good conversationalist?

I dislike that I'm so shy and find it difficult to speak with others, especially if it's about topics I'm not to familiar with.

Thank you šŸ˜Š

Why do I get this way? Are you shy because you're scared of being judged? Is it because you may be insecure? What is the main problem(s) for being shy when speaking with others? Journal and take time to fully understand your thoughts and feelings. I know journaling sounds cliche, but it truly will help. Once you discover the problem(s) then try to work on it.

2. Everyone is to focused on THEMSELVES! You being afraid of being judged is probably happening to another person in the room too. Nobody cares about that small little mistake you made. Sure, they may think about it for 5 or 10 seconds. After that itā€™s back to themselves.

3. Understand life is about LEARNING! You had to learn your first steps, first words, your personal style, etc. It is perfectly fine if you donā€™t know anything about a certain topic. Instead of feeling embarrassed or shy take it as an opportunity to learn about it. Ask the person about it, Iā€™m sure they would love to explain it.

4. Asking questions that the person is passionate about! If you like a certain topic a lot ask them about it. People who are passionate about a topic LOVE to talk about it. I have never met one person who is passionate about a topic and doesnā€™t start ranting away. This is one of the easiest way to have a conversation.

5. Matching otherā€™s energy! Iā€™m not saying to completely change yourself. On the other hand, matching a little of someoneā€™s energy is helpful to know. Read and observe whoever and then match their energy. Humans LOVE others like them. It also helps the person become a lot more comfortable around you. Leading, to you and the person becoming closer.

I honestly could give more tips and advice so let me know if you guys want a part two šŸ¤

As for improving and expanding vocabulary, I will post a separate blog for that!
