Honestly now I wanna see a Jason Voorhees coming of age tale. How did he find himself (and his machete)? How did he come to terms with his changing body (as it lay decaying at the bottom of a lake)? How did he move beyond the shadow of his parents (to accomplish basically the same thing but in increasingly silly ways in increasingly silly locales)?
The core appeal of Willy Wonka is that he's a nigh-omnipotent maniac who uses his near limitless powers over reality to trick shitty people into killing themselves. You can't make him the protagonist of a whimsical coming of age tale - you have to treat him like Jason Voorhees, or Dracula, or any other horror icon. Give him some new victims and new interesting kills and set him loose, that's all audiences want.

“Eh, but you’ll be fine.” He tried to reassure. “Besides he did that by guzzling down pop rocks and soda, I doubt you enjoy those Do ya?” He chuckled before walking off.
“G’night bud.” He left off with as the psychic link severed.
I was once again alone….but what he said stuck with me for thrice as long as it could ever stay. Because unbeknownst to him, I like pop rocks.
