My Fantasy Bestiary: Dire Vermin

Dire Vermin are a magically augmented animal commonly found in a city’s less well regulated areas, they are the size of a medium dog, have the head and front feet and tail of a rat, the ears of a rabbit, the body and legs of a hare, and porcupine like quills on their head neck and shoulders.

Dire Vermin exhibit many powerful features, they can with effort fit through any hole large enough for their head, are very resistant to falls, and they have nearly unmatched resilience against poison and corrosion.

Mother Dire Vermin were long mistaken for being aggressively cannibalistic towards their young, this is in fact a very advanced use of their abilities, the mother instead isn’t consuming them but carrying them in her stomach relying on their resilience to protect them from her digestive fluids, which not only allows her to cary the entire litter safely and warmly, but also uses her stomach acid to clean them.

Dire Vermin are demi social animals, they have little territorial instinct and will easily cohabitate but lack a hierarchy, beyond joining into a swarm to attack intruders or prey, they are surprisingly intelligent, older females will instead of vomiting acid onto their young who have out grown stomach baths simply vomit into their mouth coating their tongue in acid and licking the youths to clean them.

Dire Vermin are often used as guard animals by gangs who will use chemicals to keep them trapped in cages until releasing them onto intruders or for pit fights.

Dire vermin are the Apex companion for Backstreet Rangers, providing them with a smart dexterous agile and sneaky partner, capable of learning to do amazing feats like untie knots or use keys, at the expense of their quills making belly rubs the only method of properly explaining that they are in fact the goodest boy or girl.

Boss Concept: Stella The Hellfire Valkyrie

As the player walks down the hall and into the boss arena aproaching the large sarcophagus they here children singing

“Stella Stella Struck with stones! Stella Stella Broke her bones! Stella Stella warrior of maids! Stella Stella Fixed them with blades! Stella Stella Her story tell! Because now Stella Stella!“

Haggard breathing from behind the player is heard causing them to turn around and see a tall pale woman with empty lidless eyes the skin around them looks like charcoal, fire begins leaking from her sockets as she finishes the rhyme in her deep raspy voice: Burns in hell!

Stella The Hellfire Valkyrie, is 9 feet tall, and has swords and daggers driven into the left side of her body to act as replacements bones, one hilt sticks out of her left elbow it’s blade replacing her forearm bone, another sticks out of her shoulder it’s blade repalcing the upper arm bone, another one is protruding from her left knee the blade acting as a shin bone, her eye sockets are empty and the area around them resembles charcoal when in battle fire constantly weeps out of them like tears, 

Her first phase is made up of attacks with her sword and spear some of her actions cause sparks to fly from the ground but this is purely visual in this phase, after taking enough or enough time passing a cutscene will play in which she drives her weapons int her eye sockets, they notably do not exit the back of her skull, they are drawn out now covered in fire, her attacks do more damage, set the player on fire, and any action that previously generated sparks will now melt the floor temporary lava,

After defeat she will offer the player either her mortal self’s armor or weapon set, bringing her certain gifts after this will reward the player with Hellfire Tears a component in maxed out fire enchantments,

She is a possible romance for female player characters,

Individual size chart for my edgy purple draggy plus some extra info on it Skarmagions don’t have a set place they will inhabit and wander as a result, intentionally terrorizing anything in an area and pick fights with elder dragons that happen to be there as a well Solmuron and Skarmagions are rivals due to the nature of both elder dragons, often getting into fights that require the guild to get involved in to stop Skarmagions will also prey on Akura Vashimus and Dodogamas if they encounter them due to their shared crystalline affinity  The crystals on it’s tail regenerate/grow at a fast pace, allowing it to swipe with it’s tail and use loose crystals as projectile weapons against it’s enemies

Guess who got bored and made another elder dragon in compositor? Yea me, used a herrarasaurus head as a base and went from there, named it Skarmagion, the dark crystal dragon Elders are fun to make but I gotta up my flying wyvern count 

Finally got the monster I made in photoshop damnazeron drawn up on paper to really make it feel like an original creature of mine

Ormabura is a Snake Wyvern who first appeared in MHGU. It thrives in shallow waters and deep mud, entangling those who foolishly approach it

eventually id love to have a whole fangame doodled up in there! with plot and andemic life and a monster page and everything!

Opala Arsithe, the culling star, a scavanging elder dragon whos secretions melt most living things into a nutrient slush for Opala to sip up!

They appear rarely, only in enviroments where springtime has run rampant, and plantlife chokes the land.

Their gravity sac allows them to easily float over mountains in search of suitable prey, and their long tail and whiskers aid in balancing and precise movements in midair.

Prolly gonna be the next creature I write a wikia for :)

gonna see if i can start compiling these monsties into a whole fangame article!!!
