my rat Arson passed away while I was working, luckily I work from home. I’m glad during my lunch I checked on her, she wasn’t doing well so I finally put her in the travel cage and brought her to the other room with me. I work for a call center, it was hard for me to concentrate. My boyfriend came into the room to be with her too and pet her while I couldn’t, around 10:50pm i could hear her start making a whimpering sound and at 10:55pm she was dead, I luckily got to take my last 15min break for the day at 11pm and got to pet her and sob for a bit before I had to work again. It was hard to work the remaining 2hours and 30mins, I tried not crying during calls. It was hard. I hate I had to work, and didn’t get to spend more time with her body, I hard to freeze her after I got out so I can get her cremated tomorrow and I didn’t want her body to go bad, I couldn’t disrespect her any longer. I love you Arson, the 2 years, 5 month, and 9 days I’ve got to spend with you have been amazing. Thank you.

(sad) context: one of my pet rats has been sick with a respiratory infection for a while… thankfully he’s feeling a bit better now tho, sooo this is an old pic! I drew it during the night when his breathing got especially bad and I had to stay up holding him and feeding him baby food :(

He’s a very strong guy. Tell him he’s a good rat pls

“Beloved Mocha” Water based oils on hand stretched canvas, painted of my deceased rat Mocha in 2013. Was my first real painting and spent about 20 hours on it. 

Another work from 2013, inspired by “Torment of St. Anthony” that I was lucky enough to view in person. “Torment of Gouda” is pen on illustration paper. 

This is why I can’t have hammocks in my boys cage.
