aaaand i can say that this fandom always surprises me in the best way....... i mean just seeing how steeped in history it is AND the LORE is that i just can't think and think about it all day-

the oncest as you say, is the icon of the onceler fandom, whether others like it or not, but it is and it's wonderful how all this marked a generation JAJA and it continues to do so, i mean.....it's from the first things you hear about the fandom (and i think they usually do it in a "bad" way like.....i almost didn't join the tumblr fandom because of some videos talking about how "weird" the fandom is (was)just for that )

but hey!!! to be honest im not the best person to talk about it i wasn't there but WOOOOW all this i think will continue to be talked about for a looooooooiong time i hope

to one of my most serious researchers I have ever done before, now, here’s a little explanation:

I wanted to make a fandom analysis using old posts, the way back machine, and other stuff to try to compare the once-ler fandom in its golden age and now, trying to suppose how it was and trying to see what happened there, but it would be later. Because I got a really interesting capture that I got while I was checking the Oncest tag in the wayback machine, and I got this:

IT QUICKLY GOT MY ATTENTION

Someone saying that they were the first ones to show the Oncest ship term.

I wanted to see if it was real and not a joke or something like that, so I copied the url of the tumblr and desired that the blog is still up, and I got it!!!

I explored their tumblr for a little while, and I noticed another thing, there’s a bunch of photos of the once-ler BEFORE the movie of the Lorax came out, this of course means that ye, there was some people who found the once-ler attractive and begun to share his pictures in tumblr (without any tag, if it wasn’t the help of this blog and some other ones, I probably couldn’t got them).

This makes a lot more sense than saying that the once-ler fandom was born after the came out of the movie I can say.

Those pictures belongs to all the Lorax trailers, in which ONLY appears the gray once-ler, not greedler. So we can say that the people who find him attractive in the beginning, the greedler was like a kind of “plot twist”

But the topic of the whole fandom will be for my another analysis, now let’s try to focus on Oncest.

2. Possible date of apparition

In my research, it seems that Oncest was born between 19th March, 2012, but where did I took this supposition?

Checking the dates between their first Oncest mentions (and also checking other old inactive once-ler’s blogs), there’s some important dates to make a highlight.

In this screenshot, someone responds that this pairing has a name, this is from March 22, 2012, so the ship already existed and had a name too, so let’s check out the other blogs and their archives.

Suddenly we see Oncest fanart.

The dates are between 19th and later, is this the origin of the ship?

Of course this is just a supposition, I had to see it at that time to prove it, but it’s not the case. All I can do is make suppositions.

You can take it as something true or fake, that’s your opinion.

3. Who was the original person who brought up with the Oncest idea?

This one was one of the most complicated things that you can try to research, we are talking about something that is 11 years old, so some pretty amount of information got lost with the time.

IT’S CALLED ONCEST BECAUSE I SAID SO! Lol but really…actually, I’m kinda the one who came up with the name in the first place… The pairing existed, but I think it was originally called twincest or something… But anyhow, in month one of the fandom, back when Sirsteeve made some of the first oncest fanart the fandom went CRAZY over the idea…and so did i. So I was sitting in my living room having a feels moment over this new OTP…but since the fandom didn’t really have a name for it, it made me think… It came to my mind that the fandom was somewhat dividing the once-ler into two seperate people of the same relation-oncie and greed-ler. To me, it sounded like incest. So I played around with that idea a bit in my head. And after saying incest repeatedly in my head I noticed the ‘ce’ in the word. I came to the conclusion to 'once’ in addition to the 'est’. thus 'oncest’. I had a fangasm and posted my idea to tumblr ASAP. Apparantly, it caught on cuz it’s still called oncest today and is widely known C: That has to be one of my greatest achievements in this fandom.

There's a small mention to someone named "Sirsteeve" who explains that were one of the firsts ones to draw Oncest.

I searched and their oldest Oncest post I found is this one.

Is that the original Oncest post? I don’t know, it only says that is ONE of the first persons in the fandom who brought up the idea. Is it made by one person or a group of people? I don’t know.

Conclusion

Second part? who knows. But the only thing I can say is… this one was one of my most complicated things to find, but now I got some important information. I'm here for you to share my knowledge!

I must say, I’m very proud of me for this, you guys have no idea how excited I got when I found these photos and data, maybe is not too much but I think they’re really important yet; this information forms part of our fandom history, and I think we should keep that information up and don’t lose it.

As a reminder too, as I already said once…

Oncest is like an icon for our dear Once-ler Fandom, whether we like it or not.

We can’t deny its existence, we can’t blame it, we can’t try to delete it, it always will exist as always the fandom will exist and some people like it.

And… My opinion about Oncest?

Well, I don’t hate it, I don’t love it thou, but I can like some posts about it, I can appreciate art from this ship, and it’s idea too.

what is and is not allowed to be done with any of my characters! this includes art, fics, edits, headcanons, whathaveyou

[general content/trigger warning for uncomfortable, possibly-triggering topics because this is mainly the gist of what i dont want to see]

x = never ? = ask for permission

do nots: x - no noncon (if you engage to work through your feelings, never make my characters the perpetrators, it skeeves me out) ? - no genderbends/sexswaps/whatever they're called anymore? idk just don't mess with their gender, pronouns*, or assigned-sex-at-birth as a general thing unless i already have or okayed you directly. triple-especially if they're not cis x - respect their romantic orientations/sexualities! if you don't know a character's then you can ask me, but yeah. ie: don't ship andrew with women, he's homosexual x - [NSFW] absolutely no ageplay kinks or anything like that with my characters. no raceplay. just..nothing like that. x - no pregnancy. no mpreg. no omegaverse. none of it. (i've come a long way from it being straight-up a trigger but still, yea,) i have had some of my characters naturally be pregnant/have babies but i'd rather handle it myself, if you know what i mean x - this is a duh, but nothing hateful/bigoted using my characters. like, for instance, i do joke abt shit and say mainverse!entre is a conservative but don't unironically use him for anything awful like that. joking/memeing around about his terrible political stances is fine though x - i would never write or have my characters telling anyone to "kill yourself" so please don't have them say stuff like that. even if it's a joke. it makes me uncomfortable. (there may be a few exceptions in my giant roster of ocs but as a general rule just avoid it) x - never use my ocs likenesses or art of them as art for your own ocs. that's never okay. my ocs designs are for my own characters only.

*it's okay to have neopronoun headcanons

okay! generally anything i havent said isn't okay IS okay, but just so anyone reading this has a clearer idea

it's okay to use my characters for expressing yourself, venting, or just personal stuff like that. if my characters help you through something, go ahead and express it. i'm happy they help :)

playing around with gender presentation (not gender) is perfectly okay with any of my characters

shipping in general is fine as long as it doesnt go against the don'ts list. i dont care who you ship them with

[NSFW] i'm okay with pretty much any other kinks other than anything that goes into noncon, bigotry, or underage so go wild even if it's not my thing personally i don't care. (ie: the swagtre piss fic? lol im not a watersports guy but chase your bliss)

my characters are all free game for anything horror themed as well. horror as a genre, body horror, psychological horror, whatever. go for it. i have a personal major squick for eye gore but i can handle (and enjoy) pretty much anything else in this realm. go as gorey or not as you like (just tag appropriately for other ppls sakes)

handling self-harm/suicide idealization themes is technically? okay? for my characters? just uh...be respectful i guess. and definitely tag appropriately. this theme is canon for a few of them so i am okay with it just handle it with care is what i'm saying

go ham-buck-wild with mental illness headcanons or projections or anything like that. i dont think i have an oc that doesn't have at least something, so if you see yourself in their symptoms, go for it. only some of them i have personal labels for some of their stuff but otherwise it's whatever. just be respectful, again.

kinning is also okay! kin, synpath anything like that. go ahead! go wild with it. i think it's neat. just be respectful.

and an important note to all of this, other than being respectful to others and the characters themselves, is to respect me. just because it's okay that you do it with my character, doesn't mean i have to agree with it or make it canon or anything like that. it just means i gave you permission to engage like that. so please don't come to me trying to ask or force me to change something about my own characters or get so lost in your headcanons you start to disrespect what i've established myself

and if you ever have any questions about them or any of this, just let me know. i'm always happy to help

“Who is Dabi?”

Realistically, Hawks knows he’s been trained for this. With a library of documents easy enough for even him to break into unmonitored, it was only a matter of time until Touya stumbled upon his own records. As with any other scenario, Hawks knows what to say.

Deny, divert, distract.

And yet, Touya’s wide eyes, trusting, searching, betrays something in the years of routines meant to lock Hawks’ sentimentality away.

‘Looks like sentiment tripped you up after all, Hero.’

Still, tongue thick and thumbs digging into the soft of his palms, Hawks makes his way forward to Touya. Touya follows his movements with his eyes, and scoots to the side to give Hawks some room to sit next to him. He’s leaned forward to give his wings space to spread behind him, though they’re folded awkwardly to be as un-intimidating as possible.

“Dabi was a colleague of mine, a long time ago. We used to spend a lot of time together, working things out between our sides.”

“But Dabi is a villain,” Touya challenges softly. And Hawks can hear it in his voice, the dehumanization of Threats and Others that had been ingrained into himself for decades. Seeing the same conditioning take effect in Touya was… unsettling.

“Yes,” Hawks agreed, “he was a villain. But most villains you meet are also victims of some kind, whatever the circumstance. Someone can be both a villain and a good person, ok? Denying them the capacity to be both is dehumanizing a person. When you start seeing some people as lesser than others, it devalues the lives you work to save. Does that make sense?”

Touya stares at him for a moment, chews his lip, and looks back down at the file. “So Dabi was a good person?”

And fuck if that wasn’t a hard question. To agree was in invalidate the dozens of victims Dabi had made of them people he killed remorselessly and the families they’d left behind. A good person wasn’t capable of such a thing. But to deny was to defund Touya’s past for him, maybe influence him unnaturally to change against who Hawks defined Dabi as for him.

“Dabi was hurting,” he says instead. “It wasn’t an excuse, but it’s hard to put such a finite label on a complex person. Your job is to apprehend and rehabilitate, if given the chance. Everyone deserves a second chance, no matter who they used to be.”

“What if they screw that up too?”

“Then whoever was helping them did something wrong. If you take on the chance to guide someone to a brighter future, you have to be willing to stick through with it until they’re clean. If it goes wrong again, then that caretaker is just as responsible.”

Tearing his eyes away from the file, the `DESEASED' stamp red and ugly glaring at them from the bottom, Touya looks back up to Hawks. “Would you have given Dabi a second chance if you had saved him?”

“In a heartbeat. And you know what? I think he would’ve come out of it a better person.”

⚠️ 2/16/2024 - Mod Malware update, and a personal thank you ⚠️

TL;DR: Right now it is relatively safe to resume downloading and updating mods/CC, provided that you confirm the mod creator's legitimacy, do not download mod/CC folders (explanation in my original post), and use @twistedmexi's amazing ModGuard [link here].

Hey y'all, been a while 😅 not only did work get busy for me over the past 1.5 weeks, but my original post about the mod malware situation [link here] blew up and I got extremely overwhelmed. Almost 6k notes was NOT what I was expecting when I made it (I have a small simblr, as you might have noticed), but here we are. I'm glad people found it helpful--many of the Sims 4 communities that I'm a part of on Reddit and Discord were tracking the situation, but I knew that a lot of people on Tumblr might not have seen the news. Thank you so much for sharing my post around. My heart continues to go out to anyone who downloaded the fake mods (if that's you, I'll have resources linked below).

This comment by Kuttoe was made a week ago. Nothing much has changed since then; it seems like the stream of fake, malicious mods has finally slowed down. I know I sounded a bit alarmist in my original post, as some people have noted, and I hope I didn't cause undue panic. Make no mistake, though, this issue was (and is) serious, and the comments I made about moving forward as mod users are very much still legitimate. The Internet will always be at least slightly dangerous to use. Know who you're downloading files from and what it is you're downloading at all times.

If I haven't responded to your request for the server link, I'm working on it! Had to take a little Tumblr break bc, again, I was very overwhelmed by the massive number of notifications.
