Diluc Ragnvindr HATED feeling helpless. He absolutely despised the feeling of being at someoneās mercy. He couldnāt stand it.
However things were not canny for Diluc tonight. He couldnāt help but feel a pair of eyes on him. He felt as if all his moves and everything he did was being observed. He didnāt know what or who this was but he could feel them smirking at him, amused, as if he was just a mere toy for their entertainment. He continued his nightly routines as the Darknight Hero to shake that feeling off, but oh it got so much worse as time went on that he finally decided to head home and sleep. The moment he laid on his bed, he could feel that sinister gaze, smiling at him, mocking him, letting him know something horrifying is going to happen and he will be powerless to stop it. That feeling of helplessnessā¦,that smileā¦it ran so many shivers down his spine that no matter how many times he tossed and turned, he couldnāt close his eyes.
At last he shut his eyes and forced himself to count sheep, until sleep finally took him.
āāāāāāāāāā-
Diluc opened his eyes. He took a deep breath but coughed as his lungs burned in agony. Everything, every inch of him was in unbearable pain as if he was melting alive. He tried to move but the agony stopped him.
āIt hurts so muchā small tears formed at the corner of his eyes.
After registering the fact that he couldnāt move without hurting himself, he tried to observe his surroundings.
It was really dark but it seems as if he was lying on his back in a pile ofā¦strange black mud? It was slowly draining his health and smelled terrible. Above him, is what seemed to be an upside down ruinā¦? WHAT IS THIS PLACE? WHERE IS HE? HOW DID HE GET HERE?
He was not in his nightwear but his normal clothes. D-did somebody change him?? It could be a dreamā¦.no, the pain is too real for it to be one.
Diluc struggled in panic but was quick to stop and scream in pain as the mud sent shocks of pain through his body. Whatever this place is, he has to get out of, starting this pool of mud.
He gulped. This is going to hurt A LOT. But the realisation that this mud is slowly killing him is enough to motivate him to face the pain and free himself. The pain is only for a while, you can bear it. Youāve been through far worseā¦
He started off with trying to sit up, only to fail horribly. The mud has already damaged more than half of his health and body, itās a miracle he is still conscious. Lying there in pain, Diluc finally concluded that the only way out,
Is to crawl his way through slowly.
He began by flipping himself. The amount of pain he felt during that could not be described by words. He sobbed and grunted when he was finally on his elbows.
āI h-have to get out of this..ā he mentally told himself.
He moved his elbow to drag himself out.
PAIN PAIN PAIN PAIN
It hurt so much he wanted to end himself at the spot.
Another drag.
IT HURTS SO MUCH
Stay strong Diluc, you can get out of thisā¦
Another drag
PLEASE KILL ME ALREADY
Come onā¦so closeā¦
Another drag.
ALMOST OUT OF THIS MUD
The relief he was feeling! He was almost out of this hell of mud!
Just one drag mor-
Diluc screamed in pain. There was an arrow shot at his hand the moment it reached out for freedom. He fell from his elbows, his face half buried in the mud and increasing his painful state.
āGreat job sweetie!ā
A voiceā¦Diluc couldnāt move but could tell that the source of that voice was hiding somewhere in the darkness in front of him. With some strength and energy, he moved his head to look up.
He wished he didnātā¦
Ahead of him, in the darkness. He could see four silhouettes illuminated by four different visions. He couldnāt tell who they were but they were definitely people. They were approaching him. He tried to say something but the only thing that came out was an agonised croak. He reached his hand out, desperate.
The silhouettes stepped out of the darkness and Diluc was beyond confused and horrified. What are they doing here? Why are they here? WHATS GOING ON?!?
The first person was a child. Diluc knew this child. It was the same young lady that despised him to the very core, the same young lady that worked in catās tail, her drinks magical. Dionaā¦
The other was the popular idol of Mondstadt. The kind and gentle deaconess that wanted to heal everyone. Even her voice could do wonders for peoplesā health. Barbaraā¦?
The third one, he didnāt know. She was a lady with pink hair andā¦horns? Her attire appeared to be of Liyue.
The last oneā¦was none other than the electro archon herself. The Raiden Shogunā¦
āāāāāāāāāāāāā-
All of them except the shogun were smiling, looking down at me. But everything about them was off.
Their eyesā¦they were so hollow and soulless. It was almost as if they were mere puppets. And then from the dark shadows, another figure appeared from behind them.
I couldnāt see them well, it was so dark, my eyes were tired and on the brink of closing, and the figure had no glowing vision to give a small glimpse of their form. But slowly they walked towards me creating a sense of pure dread and horror. Stepping out of the darkness, they stopped right in front of me andā¦
āGAHā
āāāāāāāāāāāāā-
The figure stepped on the desperate hand that was reaching out. They made sure to twist it under their heel too. Diluc was left shaking. They crouched down, patting his head.
āAw look at you poor thing, youāre in tears huhā¦ā
Diluc was actually sobbing. But despite his tears, he managed to get a glimpse of the person.
āāāāāāāāāāā-
They had (e/c) eyes and (h/c) hair. Their attire was definitely not from Teyvat. And their faceā¦.it felt SO familiar. They noticed me looking at them and they smiled at me.
A chill went down my spine.
It was the same familiar smile. The one that mocked me and still is. I wanted to thrash and scream. I wanted to demand whatās going on but I was just so weakā¦
More tears fell. I felt so helplessā¦
It was as if they could read through my tears and smiled in wicked satisfaction.
āAw donāt cry sweetie, you should be greatful! I made sure to take away all your artifacts and replace your wolfās gravestone with a waster greatsword to make sure you have less Hp and die quickly!ā
āWhat are they talking aboutā¦? What do you want from me?ā I desperately wanted to say something. But my whole body just stopped working. My eyes were so blurry and tired, the tears were not helping.
āPlus, you donāt deserve to cry haha. You should have expected this when you ruined my 50/50 you little bitch.ā They hissed at the end and tugged on my hair while painfully digging nails in my scalp.
I hissed and let more fat tears roll down.
āWhat are you saying?! Please I donāt understand! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS?!?!ā I screamed mentally. The others are just staring at me emotionlessly, without any sympathy. I desperately wanted out of here. Out of this hell hole. āPleaseā¦ā
They began to stoke my head again,
āBuut, looking at the bright side, your sacrifice wonāt be useless like those weird rituals! Iāll get 5 primos so itās all good, right sweetie? Iām not those insane players that sacrifice characters like you for pointless rituals.ā
At this point I was too tired to do anything. They smiled for a while at my state. Soon that smile was gone and so was the gentle stroke on my head.
āHow patheticā¦ā they spat.
They got up and turned around. Ready to leave my miserable self to dieā¦.
ā¦ā¦.
Noā¦this canāt beā¦I canāt die here! NOT LIKE THIS! I CANāT-
āāāāāāāāāāā-
Diluc struggled a little. This caught the attention of the stranger who was about to leave.
āHm?ā
They turned around confused.
āHey, wasnāt the mud supposed to kill him faster?ā They stared down at Diluc, who was barely able to move in the dark mud. They started approaching him again.
ā*Sigh*, donāt worry you poor thing. Let me put you out of your misery.ā They stopped right in front of Diluc and smiled.
ā¦ā¦
Diluc thrashed around weakly as they stepped on his head, pushing his face further in the mud and suffocating him. His thrashing however, was too weak to budge them. It only got more mud on him, killing him faster.
Soon the thrashing stopped. Soon all his movement stopped. The last thing Diluc heard, were a fit of sadistic giggles.
āāāāāāāāāāā-āāāāāāāāāāā-
Diluc woke up. This time it wasnāt in the dark mud, it was in the safety of his own room.
Was this all a dream? He couldnāt tell for it felt so real.
For the next few days he had problems talking to others. Especially with the people he saw in that ādreamā.
He was thankful Diona avoided him. He couldnāt even think of approaching her without remembering that cold emotionless Diona from the ādreamā that watched him die with a hollow smile.
He actively avoided the cathedral. He knew the kind deaconess was far from the one he saw in his ādreamā. She wouldnāt stand and watch somebody die in agony with a smile, right? But he still felt nervous whenever he thought of approaching her.
The feeling of being watched was completely gone and things were starting to get better for Diluc after a while though. Soon he could talk to Diona and Barbara but not have a proper conversation. Small steps Dilucā¦
Things were ALMOST getting betterā¦until,
āHey master Diluc!ā Paimon chirped and greeted the redhead.
āHello master Diluc.ā It was the traveler. They both had visited the tavern to greet Diluc.
āWelcome you two, anything youād like?ā Diluc asked with a small smile.
āYeah, can we have three glasses of apple cider please?ā Paimon ordered as they both took a seat.
āYeah, but donāt mind my curiosityā¦have you bought a friend with you?ā Diluc turned around and started making their orders.
āHehe yeah, our friend is about to arrive in a- oh here they are!ā Paimon exclaimed.
āHey guys, and hello there, you must be master Diluc.ā a terrifyingly familiar voice greeted Diluc.
He turned around, and to his terrorā¦.
āNice to meet you! Iām y/nā they flashed a smile.
And it sent shivers down his spine.
