I am a sucker for prison realm fics. There is so much angst/ whump material. You can pick your poison, like, no sense of time? Done, now satoru has spent 'centuries' there.

Do the skeletons have conscience? Can satoru escape them? Or does he have to maintain constant contact with them?(Kaz brekker inspiration) Do they talk? What do they say?

The atmosphere! Is it okay? Or you have a putrid air, smell or sense? How does it affect one body?

Hallucinations! This unpack a whole new section, what does he see, he is aware of their falseness? Can he escape them? Do the six eyes help him or just make everything worse?

Does he even have his abilities? How are they blocked, how does this affect his sense of self as the strongest?

Is Kenjaku able to access him? If so, what does he want What does he do?

And the best of the best, how is Satoru when he finally gets out? How do his friends and loved ones react to his state? And how can he move on from that? (Or can he even move on at all?)

You can even put a time travel plot in there and boom, we have satosugu again. Does he remember his past life to ‘fix the future’? Or is his mind far too damaged for that? Does he even remember Suguru?

Gojo angst post Prison Realm

He came back different.

That’s the first thing everyone talked about when Satoru would be mentioned. He isn’t the same. ‘I heard him talking to the wall’ ‘He walked past me like I wasn’t even there.’ ‘Did he use his technique since he came back?’

But they didn’t know. They couldn’t sense how his mind was going wildfire. Too much information, just too much. He never thought he would crave for the nothingness of the prison realm, but he did, and that terrified him.

Because how could he crave for something so intangible? They said he was there for a month, it felt like years, or minutes, or days, he couldn’t tell.

“You are the talk of the town.” Suguru says amused as they pass another group of sorcerers whispering about him.

“And you aren’t helping.”

He walks past him. He needed to see Shoko, but what would he say? She probably already thought he was weak.

His technique felt off, too much time without use. His limbs were slower, he forgot how to use them after the years days months? spent immobile. He wasn't himself, he came back different.

“Are you even listening?” Shoko tried to reach his shoulder and he yanked back startled.

“What? Yeah, I killed the curse.”

“I was asking if you were sleeping.”

He looked at her, no he wasn’t, but it didn't matter, he didn't sleep there too, nothing new.

“Just have a lot to do.”

She sighs and looks at him with saddened eyes. “It’s like you are stuck in your head all the time. You got out, Gojo, it’s time for you to start living again.”

He wished it was that simple.

Days blurred into weeks, and weeks into months. Shoko tried to reach for him. He always backed away. Until one day, when he fucked up big time in a mission, she shoved him in her office and demanded an explanation.

“You are gonna end up dead! Getting distracted fighting a special grade! Why did you drop Infinity?!” She shakes her arms desperately. “Please, talk to me, I can’t lose you too”

And it was the crack in her voice that made his defenses crumble.

“I keep seeing him.” Instantly he feels shame crawling into his body.

“What do you mean?” She says, brows furrowing.

“Of course you are seeing me, I am right here.” Suguru deadpans from where he is sitting on the desk, bouncing his feets.

Satoru looks up, lips trembling, there was a time he would do anything to be able to see him again, but not like this.

“You are not real.” And that cuts deeper than anything he could have ever said. He craved the prison realm because there he could pretend, he could surrender to his crazy head trying to bring him comfort, and just accept as a truth that Suguru was alive in front of him.

But he got out, and he has shit to do, and hallucinating about Suguru will not help him achieve those things.

Seconds pass and Shoko is as still as a stone analyzing him with careful eyes. He catches the moment that Suguru’s face falls. Dropping the façade.

“I was here to help.” Suguru looks defeated, and Satoru wants nothing more than to go to him and hug him until all their sorrows disappear.

“I know.” He looks down and pulls his hair, already feeling the tears falling. “But I am fine now, you should go.”

“It’s not me who decides that, you have to let me go.”

“I know.”

And they just stay there, none of them moving. Because even though Satoru got out, the prison realm stayed within. And he isn’t ready yet to be alone again.

I want to make a list of my JJK theories and opinions so we got (part 1 bc I know I'll have / remember more later).

-let gege cook, everyone will be fine, chill tf out (I have rambled about this in other posts so I'll just leave it at that here)

-Toji and Geto's worm is like banana fish (the drug from banana fish that makes someone delusional, easily suggestible, and violent until they self destruct. Geto lasted a lot longer than Toji under its influence bc he had his rituals of meditations, affirmations, and strong ethics. His cursed energy would have also fed the worm, though it had been trained to feed off of the soul when it was with toji). It eats away at their souls/BRAIN so Kenjaku can get into a new skull will little resistance. Remember when Geto was unconscious and Toji said the thing about monkeys? Then Geto kept repeating that kind of thing (but he never rly acted like he believed that. He was just trying to keep his daughters and innocent youth safe from becoming skapegoats like Rika was. He saw that the cult and the village would repeat their cycles and more would be hurt in the future. He couldn't redeem those adults so he killed them.) I go into this theory a good bit in my longest/first jjk fanfic, and I AM DYING for gege to confirm this. I also ofc think that Kenjaku set up the worm and Toji to find each other. Maybe by throwing it into the zenin curse pit.

-kenjaku hit Rika with his car, or at least manipulated someone else into doing it (which seems to be the theme here, the way he made geto and yuta fight, for example. It's suspicious that Yuta and Yuuji were both from Sendai. I'm sure that he was keeping an eye on them both. We see nanako and mimiko at yuuji's school in that one manga panel in the beginning.

-the prison realm can be used for time travel (since Gojo first got sealed I was expecting him to break out. And then I was expecting him to be so understimulated in there that he'd figure out how to warp time. Dude can already warp space, what's the difference?) and Hakari even suggested using the prison realm for time travel so EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE FINE they just have to go as far as they can without using it first so they can learn what to do the next time, yeah? I also had a dream about this and Gojo told me that Sukuna didn't feel the time loop, but the rest of us knew it was our second time (at least) going back and trying to defeat him. Which doesn't mean that I'm right but it was nice ok 😭

Theories that have been proven right or wrong by now

-I've been saying from the beginning that Yuuji and Sukuna share a common ancestor and that's why he can be a vessel. I was right!! But I didn't know he was also born with a fingie

-sukuna has six eyes (this has since been disproven but I used to think so)

-the way that RCT works between two people

CHAPTER 261 SPOILERS ON THIS NEXT ONE but I hope ur caught up by now.

-yuta should use as many techniques as possible in Gojo's body bc when Gojo returns to it, then he will be able to learn them as well. Kenjaku was able to retain techniques from his previous bodies, so even if all he transfers is the copy technique, that's fkn useful too.

-there is no chemistry between Yuki and Choso. That concept feels fucking forced and gives me the ick so hard.

-yuki is a terrible influence. She has good intentions, but she isn't present enough to be helpful - showing up in shibuya after Mahito was absorbed, for example. Not keeping in touch with the sorcerers who were involved in that. Not to mention the shit with Geto. She started the whole "what kind of woman is your type" thing and it's her fault that todo beats people nearly to death for giving an answer that doesn't match his own stupid taste (it took several watches for me to forgive todo for beating up megumi tbh)

-todo is also Kenjaku's son, and possibly Yuki - tho yuki is more vibes than evidence. All of Kenjaku's confirmed kids have a strong resolve, and false memories with Yuuji. But I think that kenjaku, in a male body, would be a total slut. His motivation for anything is that maybe it'll be interesting, or funny, he's just here for a good time. I think that he wouldn't even know how many kids he has, and that by having an unknown number possibly out there, it would bring up unexpected sorcerers. The frame where kenjaku asks why don't you heal yourself and yuki says I don't want to... That feels confirmed for me but I know it isn't solid evidence.

-I think kenjaku set up yuki to meet todo bc that feels too sus as well but I forget my logic on that one lmaoooo everything is their fault tho

Since Gojo got sealed I rly expected him to figure out how to warp time bc dude can already warp space so why not? He doesn't have anything to do, time doesn't rly pass, it made sense to me. I rly thought somehow he'd be able to break out on his own lmao.

And I still kinda hope that is true (and when Hakari suggested using the prison realm for time travel I screamed inside, I hope that's foreshadowing).

But ever since I saw a video of Gojo making the skeletons kiss in there, I feel like. That's so accurate. Ig he could have done both but it makes my hopeful theory feel invalidated jwjdkskskxjald

What I rly want to know is why Gojo doesn't cover his eyes sometimes. [manga spoilers ahead ig, self harm mention]

After he awakened with RCT in the hidden inventory arc, he went out to reclaim Riko's body without them. Maybe they broke during his fight with Toji, idk.

But after he leaves the prison realm, Gojo never covers his eyes again.

My main thought was that it's out of hypervigilance. He won't let his guard down, even if it hurts. Maybe he needs specific glasses /fabric (I think Gojo has sensory issues).

Maybe he felt fine without them when he learned RCT, and he seemed pretty high then anyway so I don't think that time rly needs to have a solid explanation.

But after leaving the prison realm, he rly looked different. Maybe it's in part from Gege's art style change, or the awakening of so many sorcerers during the culling game. People say he was always that muscular, just was covered by clothes but I disagree. His facial structure is wider, we saw his skeletal collarbones at least during the flashback in the yasohachi bridge arc (which happened after the exchange event, so not that long ago). I guess what I'm saying is that Gojo changed since getting sealed, and I'm not sure in what ways. I think that seeing Kenjaku in Geto's body altered his mind too.

Maybe he's doing it as a form of self harm. Like when Sukuna switched back with Yuuji in Shibuya, the first thing he did was scrape his fingertips on the street and tear them apart. Which he knew would be painful from the detention center, he hardly reacted to losing a hand but lost it when the other was burning away from the fingertips, which are rly sensitive. Whether to cover one pain with another or try to punish the shortcomings out of themselves, I'm not sure, but would guess that it's both.

That seems like the most likely answer. And now. I'm sad. Again

Anywayyyy Gojo Satoru do you no longer get headaches? Pls explain

I think now that it was to practice running RCT stronger than usual. He'd need to do that for the fight with Sukuna.

Before I thought it would have been better for Gojo to not wear himself down leading up to it. Especially when as far as I remember, he's surrounded by capable sorcerers whenever we see him. It isn't like Gojo needs to protect anyone so intensely that he can't wear anything over his eyes.

Since JJK has a satisfying ending in 5 chapters,

I have renewed hope for my (Yuuji-centric) cryogenic domain theory. Maybe we'd see the reanimated sorcerers team up with Sukuna against the merger? Which sounds too predictable for Gege - there has to be some crazy twist. (also mentioned here and here).

Another direction could be a Heian era time travel (hear me out)

-Nobara has an awakening (like Gojo) from her near-death experience (she died and Nitta resuscitated her)

-the last fingie of Sukuna is still there (for Nobara to use her new technique on)

-the prison realm is also available (And Hakari even mentioned using it for time travel - - not to mention the?? Chapters he's spent calmly with Uraume. What are they talking about? Uraume was explaining Sukuna, from what I recall, and likely telling Hakari about their past lives, maybe some dirt on kenjaku). Uraume could have some special cursed object around, too.

Normally I would say that time travel is not a satisfying ending, so it doesn't count.... But to see the sorcerers travel back to the Heian era would be interesting.

Tbh since the moment Gojo got sealed, I expected him to break out. As the shibuya incident dragged on, I thought he'd get bored in there and figure out a way to manipulate time (idk physics very well but if he can manipulate space, why not time, you know? Math or whatever it is).

Through the culling game arc I let go of my time travel theory - until Hakari mentioned it with the prison realm and I lost my mind.
