I'm glad that Morgana is able to voice Sallie May and feel supported/represented. But as you said, one person doesn't represent the entire trans community. Other people feel alienated by some of the things Viv has done, and I can see why.

In short, I'm not really sure what to do with this conflicting information. That's all I meant.

Guys, I'm struggling with something. Maybe the Harry Potter fans in the crowd can help me out here.

A couple months ago, I learned about the transphobic/enbyphobic things that Vivziepop has said and done as recently as last year. I really had a good time with Hazbin Hotel, and I'd been following Helluva Boss up to that point, but even after taking this time to reflect I don't know if I should continue. I don't want to lose one of my interests, but I also don't want to support someone who seems to view trans and nonbinary people as lesser.

It's kind of like the whole "Scott Cawthon's political donations" debacle, but while he announced his retirement and isn't as active with the fandom anymore, I don't think Viv is leaving anytime soon.

I dunno guys. What do I do?

Oh, this is wonderful! Thank you for answering my questions! If you're confused about why I posted this when the rest of the episodes haven't been out yet I wanted to see how people's view of Nine and the show would change or become ironclad as the next batches of episodes come out. So I will post this again when the second batch is out to see how and if your answers change and again on season three and so on!

I also agree with your answers so far! These might be long tho (I tend to ramble and over-analyze things.) Number five is VERY long!

I agree that Nine would be furious at whoever "made" (because this is a hypothetical situation if Sonic CHOOSE to sacrifice himself) Sonic do that, be it himself (which he'd most likely develop a self-loathing) or another person, and would also be mad at Sonic for leaving him. Unlike going through the stages of grief in a healthy manner I can see Nine snapping and being furious in the anger stage and most likely never accepting that Sonic choose to do it. But I can also see him becoming emotionally shattered if Sonic died, based on how emotionally attached he is to the blue blur. Anger doesn't last forever and when it subsides, it'd most likely lead to an overarching and hopeless depression nobody would be able to save him from as he'd hold a silent and tired resentment and stronger hatred toward the cruel world for taking someone so kind and naive. And whether or not it really WAS because of him that Sonic sacrificed himself Nine would most likely still loathe himself for letting it happen in the first place due to how hyper-independent and confident in his abilities and goals he is.

I also see Nine going on a complete war path if Sonic was killed. He WILL hunt that person down in a broken rage if they were responsible for taking his only hope and kindness from him. He would most likely lose all sympathy and mercy for that person because in his eyes no matter if it was necessary or not, that person is a horrible murderer who killed an innocent person he was latched to. As for him being protective/angry at the idea of someone hurting Sonic, I also agree that we don't know if he'd be protective due to whether he feels Sonic betrayed him due to his unknown feelings towards the matter.

I agree that the bond of brotherly affection Tails and Sonic holds can never be shattered or broken no matter what (stated by Ian Flynn, their bond and love is a COSMIC TRUTH) but in a way, Nine's choice to become attached to Sonic is based off a selfish goal and reward. This is stated outright by Tails as Sonic is going through the ShatteredSpace, possibly meaning that that bond will be tested in something HUGE in future seasons. I also agree that Nine does show affection and love towards Sonic (no matter how conflicted he seems while doing it), but it's also based on a sort of obsession over a world where he can be happy and cared for and can possibly spiral into something much, much darker. I'm interested in where the writers/creators take this as well!

I agree that Nine has been through so much, and I'm sad to say that that isn't going to end soon considering his position at the end of "season 1" (aka Netflix being greedy a-holes and splitting a season up just so they can make bank WHICH IS STUPID!) with him being in the hands of evil dictators who ROBOTISIZED somebody and most likely did worse things. Also, I too root for Nine more than everyone mainly because his goals are ones I want to see succeed more than the others (my boi just wants to live in a happy world and be loved by somebody!) and ones I could understand if it did turn and spiral into a desperate obsession because if I was in his situation I would do whatever to make that dream a reality. Like the other hims HAVE people who love and care for him while Nine has NOBODY and NOTHING who cared for him before Sonic came. I'll CRY if it isn't succeded!

I do disagree slightly with this answer. I think that he doesn't need someone to protect him since he's a bad bitch who can protect and care for himself. But I think that he NEEDS Sonic in a more emotional and love-starved way and he has a justifiable reason why he THINKS he does (because he actually does). He can develop this if he bonded with the others but due to the fact that he met Sonic before he met the others (unlike his other selves who had people before Sonic came), it wouldn't be the same. It's a long reason as to why, so please bear with me. I think he feels he NEEDS Sonic because he has been ALONE all his life in a cruel oppressive dystopian world where people look out for themselves and was abused (not to mention the fact that HE stopped the straight-up abuse himself and the implications that the abuse went uninterrupted for YEARS makes it understandable and even WORSE that he would latch on to somebody different from everybody else), and how he was emotionally neglected during that time, he genuinely NEEDS SOMEONE to lean on and pour out his pent up emotions too and in his eyes, Sonic came up to him and offered that on a silver platter. So naturally, he'd do whatever it takes to ensure he never loses that. While he doesn't outright state this and while it's not obvious in the first watch, the way Nine acted before getting captured by the Council, towards Sonic was odd and complicated. While he originally thought of Sonic as a nuisance like the others, as his natural bond with Sonic reforms he starts to see Sonic more as a person not quite capable of taking care of himself due to how naive and impulsive he is. In Nine's eyes Sonic is viewed as a sort of sacred treasure, a person who for some reason cared for him that needs to be protected, who was too precious to lose, who offered him a hand of hope and needed Nine to protect him not being capable of doing so himself due to how ignorant he was. Before Sonic met him, he only cared and watched out for himself in the cruel and harsh dystopian world he was cursed to be in, a world where he had nothing and nobody to live and fight for before a blue stranger broke into his lab, calling him what was a cruel slur in his eyes, setting him off. Then when he was about to be hit by a train due to his own act, they saved him. This greatly confuses him because why would this stranger save him when he once called him a cruel insult, when in this world it was everyone for themselves? His answer was that this stranger saw him as SOMEONE else, someone who was nothing like him, not truly, but was given a life he longed and fantasized about for years: A life where he was loved and cared for. Remember Nine is a very hyper-independent and selfish person, so naturally, when Sonic offered him something he needed and wanted, that selfish concern would be extended to him, whether he wanted it or not.

In one word, what do you think Nine's state would be if Sonic were to die from his (Sonic sacrificing himself for the world or Nine's) own choice for the benefit of others' safety? And why do you think this would be his reaction or state?

How do you think Nine would react if Sonic were killed or physically threatened? And why?

So you're saying it's up to NINE to determine the ending, what he picks will affect EVERYTHING. Not just how the story will end, not just EVERY CHARACTER, but the fate of the WORLD, what's essentially the UNIVERSE lies in HIS hands, NOT Sonic's. Sonic can retrieve the shard, but it's up to NINE to fix them. It's up to Nine to determine their fates. Sure Sonic might be the overall protagonist, but there's a REASON WHY everyone states that Nine is the second protagonist.

Think about it, Sonic broke the world, but only Nine can restore it. Sure we might see things mostly from Sonic's perspective, but Nine's arc is VERY important as well (perhaps even MORE important than Sonic's, and I'll get to that) as it determines the fate of the WORLD we know and love, Sonic doesn't know how to restore it, but Nine can.

Sonic KICKED OFF THE PLOT, and Nine's actions determine HOW IT ENDS. They both play HUGE roles, and they're the only ones in the story with HUGE roles like this. I know we saw that Shadow might be important as well, but he didn't start the plot like Sonic did, nor can he resolve the main conflict of the world SHATTERING. And the other characters aren't as important to how the plot gets finally resolved.

Now I said that Nine might be even MORE IMPORTANT than Sonic, and there's a reason for that. Sure Sonic started it, and sure he's that leading character, but while he will develop, he can't fix the world like Nine seemingly can. Sonic BROKE the world, now it's up for Nine to FIX it. This might be a call back to the simple dynamic between the two, Sonic usually smashes Eggman bots, and Tails creates machines to aid and help them.

Sonic breaks what Tails fixes.

As for the need to extract the Prism energy from Sonic, again Nine might be the only one who can figure out how to do it without KILLING Sonic, unlike the council who could care less about whether he lives or dies. Because, well, Nine doesn't want Sonic dead for anything. I read some theories that Nine only used Sonic for the energy he has, for the Shards, and I strongly disagree.

I won't deny that Nine probably WANTS the shards, not because he's obsessed with them (like Thorn and Dread were), but because it can lead to a better future for him AND Sonic. Let's not forget he took SONIC with him to the Grim. Some people think he wants to build a world in his own image or that he doesn't need Sonic but again I disagree, maybe more HEAVILY. Nine wants a better world sure, but not in his own image, just one where he can have the things Sonic described to him: happiness, palm trees, love, care, and blissfulness.

I think Nine DOES need Sonic, but more emotionally. Sonic was kind to him, Sonic treated him like a FRIEND (something he NEVER had before), Sonic can bring out the more good side that still strives (albeit weakly) from within.

Sonic is his emotional crutch just like he was for Tails, but even MORE so.

Nine isn't just an "emo" Tails, he's not just a variant. He's

VERY important the to plot.

While he's still a variant of Tails, he's more IMPORTANT and EXPLORED than the other variants and genuinely hard to read.

A broken, bitter, sardonic child with NOTHING and NO ONE to lose before he meets Sonic.

(If the theory that the characters were shattered as well is true) He's quite possibly the embodiment of Tail's EMOTIONAL NEED, PROTECTIVENESS, and possibly LOVE for Sonic.

I agree that Nine might be the key to ending everything, and he can't have a villain arc without a redemption arc because of that. But things might get worse before they get better, but he'll come around eventually (I hope...).

OH! NOT TO MENTION, NINE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO HARNESS THE SHARDS!!! He's DEFINITELY the key to EVERYTHING.

One last thing that establishes Nine to be EXTREMELY important and might be a MASSIVE foreshadowing. While Sonic went through space and everyone said their lines, he goes through the portal to New Yolk, and everything goes silent, seemingly being the last of the character's lines. The screen goes WHITE, and TAILS is the last one and ONLY one to speak when it DOES. What does he say?

"NOTHING could break our FRIENDSHIP, Sonic."

"If there's anyone who's got the brains to put back the prism, it's you."

"That's the first thing you've said that I agree with."

The little canon hint that only Nine can figure out how to fix things. It'll be his choice that can change everything in the end. I don't think they'll be giving him a villain arc without a redemption arc if he's the only character who can fix things. Shadow cannot leave the void, CC are all villains, Sonic cannot touch the shards (though there's this wee bit plot point of him being able to harness the energy of the prism that he absorbed), everybody else doesn't understand the science or working of the prism, this leaves Nine. Extremely important character, this angsty little fellow.

Wait, hold on, Sonic has a bunch of Paradox energy inside him. The energy that hit him and he wasn't affected by like the others because he absorbed it. Wouldn't that mean he'd have to return that energy to fix his world? The energy he has is from the prism as it shattered, it belongs to the Paradox Prism. What if... The Prism needs the energy Sonic has to be whole again? The energy that CC had been trying to extract. How would that affect Sonic?

The Chaos Council captured the wrong fox! Also, I must've missed the part where Nine said it wasn't ready, what does he mean by that? We'll unfortunately have to wait for the second batch to come out. Also, I wasn't meaning that he was acting like a protagonist to the council, I meant that Nine IS the secondary protagonist of the entire show. Mainly cause he plays an important role, and because we got to see from his perspective even after Sonic left New Yolk, and SOnic never even mentioned him, which I found interesting. Also, I never noticed that he might've been manipulating the Council from the start, if so, Jesus Christ, kudos to him.

But I think he was just playing it safe with the Resistance, both the Rebels and the Council who he figured would be watching through the cameras. And yes, based on that smirk both while he was captured and while he was manipulating the council, he's definitely planning something, but what? What happened after Sonic left the Grim? Whatever happened, he needs to use the Council. Also, this fox can manipulate! He makes sure to keep things neutral, makes sure he gives the impression that he's helping them, he gives them the illusion of control.

And I agree that Sonic is a moral guide for him, kinda like how he was for Tails. Sonic, like he did for Tails, can bring out the good potential, of Nine. However, it's also due to SOnic that he has goals to make a new world in the Grim in the first place. A thing I want to add is that he stated "with ENOUGH shard energy", meaning that if he had all the shards, he'd be able to do what he wanted. So whatever he's planning, he's after the shards.

Also, Nine is making the tech that Rusty used to go into other dimensions, so being the crafty fox he is, he could've hidden some things in the device that would go against the Council's orders.

Sonic is also extremely important to all of this, he's able to bring people together, able to bring out the best of people like he always does, Sonic struck HOPE in all of these people. However, that hope-bringing can also backfire on Nine considering his influence caused Nine to find a better home for himself and Sonic. We'll have to wait and see.

Nine needs Sonic alive, both for emotional sake and for possibly power's sake. There are many things Nine can do, help or betray, conquer or free, we don't know what's going on in that fluffy head of his! His moral ambiguity makes it really hard to figure out what he plans and his role in future seasons.

And I firmly agree that their bond is unbreakable. And Tails is the only one who got three lines, all of them relating to his bond with Sonic. And while the others either have lines that reflect one main counterpart, or that relate to their role in the group, Tails' lines not only reflect Nine, but they also reflect Nine's relationship with Sonic.

Nine doesn't care for anyone but Sonic, Nine only needs Sonic. Which I think reflects his role as a certain very STRONG trait of Tails.

Each counterpart of the main cast is an embodiment of a certain trait they have.

Thorn; Amy's love for nature, Rusty; Amy's sense of loyalty (she can be influenced to change her sides), Black Rose; Amy's love for adventure.

Renegade Knucks; Knuckles defiance against another's control, Gnarly; Knuckle's naivety, Dread; Knuckles impulsiveness

Rebel; Rouge's sense of leadership, Prim; Rouge's sense of trickery, Pirate; Rouge's sense of teamwork

Mangey; Tails' Primal instincts, Sails; Tails' dependence on others.

But Nine is the embodiment much, MUCH stronger. Something unbreakable as mentioned before. Something NEITHER good nor bad. Something so strong, it can never be broken.

Nine's protectiveness over Sonic, his only concern being Sonic, is quick to latch onto Sonic, his EMOTIONAL DEPENDENCE on Sonic.

It all makes sense now.

Nine is the living embodiment of Tails' LOVE for Sonic.

Now love is both a beautiful and horrifying concept and one that's still unknown to HOW it happens. In fact, love is believed to be a TYPE OF MADNESS. Basically, your brain cell thingies go crazy and inflate when it happens. Scientifically, love is a MAMMALIAN IMPULSE, like hunger or thirst. It's a NEED. And unlike the other variants, Nine actually has a goal he genuinely NEEDS.

This is why Nine is a terrifying character, not just because he's morally ambiguous, or we don't know what he's capable of, but because he's the embodiment of something DANGEROUS.

Tails' love for Sonic transcends anything, it is held over everything, and nothing else matters. He's stated something, which reflects his love for his big brother, something that not only reflects Nine's character but could also be a MAJOR foreshadowing.

In a place where he had to choose between the world or Sonic, he'd choose SONIC.
