Something about all of Sonic's friends (and Eggman) in Sonic Prime actually being shattered aspects of their characteristics. I don't know; someone else probably said this before me and came up with an analysis a lot better than I can pull off. I'll go into more detail about this if I find the motivation.

My main point is that I think Prime isn't really a multiverse story. It's more of a story of every character that was there when the crystal was shattered got split up. The only characters who are whole are Sonic and Shadow, which is why they're the only characters that don't have any counterparts.

I think that in order for Sonic to restore his reality, he's going to have to talk things through with Nines. He'll have more interactions with the other characters and realize that they're not 'fake' versions of his friends at all. I think he'll come to the realization that Nines is also his Tails, but just one aspect of him, and he'll convince him that he cares about every part of Tails and that part also includes Nine. And they'll restore reality through the power of friendship and trust and understanding.

I don't know, I'm running on low sleep typing this.

I hope you don't mind me adding some thoughts, but same. I think its the prism trying to separate him, therefore there's another three 'people' trying to all share the one body as his body is better at holding the prism power so it can't separate him.

In the frames you've shown above, there's always one color more around him then the others. When he's with Shadow, its green, when he's up on the cliff, one is more red. It could also be the blurring of his movements but I find it odd that it's not a blur of all the colours, one's always stronger than the others.

And that frame you mentioned last where he seems to pause, there's red, orange and green all equal, like that's the first shock of something off, adding to his own little world, like each is their own person and all talking to eachother, his usual inner monologues but they're all fighting for a turn to actively speak. This could also be the moment the prism attempts to separate him but his body retains the energy so his thoughts are split but his body stays as one.

The surprise on Sonics face when Shadow talks contributes this, to me at least, like you said, that he didn't know others could hear him.

He could also be twice as chatty because they're all trying to get a say. Sonic also says 'us', while this could be an identity crisis it could also be an acknowledgement that there's multiple voices/personalities.

The show writers could also be hinting that it's this with Shadows 'a Sonic' line.

Also, the colours seem to match with worlds we've seen. At least the colours seen most in the frames of this post. Red-New yolk and Green-Boze cage maze. I'm unsure of the orange in the last frame but I can also make out a blue like the pirate world. (Forgotten the name, sorry, its 4:40 am for me.)

And I can even see hints of pink in some of the frames, like his 'super form' of this power, like they are combined again. It could just be that it's to have the affect of the glitchy look too, so that could be nothing.

Anyway, hope this makes sense, as earlier stated these are just the ramblings of a sleep deprived person who's trying to and failing to sleep and found something interesting to read and decided to jot down some spir of the moment thoughts before they vanish forever.

I'll probably check this in the morning but if I do that without posting first, I know I'll just delete it, lol. Goodnight.

This was presented with a very whimsical tone and I enjoyed it for that but also. it's such a specific side effect that I can't not analyze it

Like, on principle it makes perfect sense. Give an already fast and energetic character who talks to himself all the time a boost to his abilities, and he becomes twice as chatty to compensate.

But his external monologue has never taken the form of a conversation between two people before, and in a show that's all about having alternate versions of the same character, that's worth taking note of. Especially since this started after he was given energy from the Paradox Prism, the thing that presumably made all of those alternate versions to begin with.

(And even more especially since the show already played around with the idea of there being two Sonics only a few episodes ago with the existence of Chaos Sonic)

So, the other oddity regarding this whole thing is how one side is consistently just. uncharacteristically mean and deadpan towards the other?? I showed one example earlier, but there's two more, and that accounts for almost every instance of Sonic talking to himself in this form

Sonic's never really talked to anyone like this before, not even himself. It almost comes across like an emulation of Shadow more than anything else, which is just. so bizarre?? Especially when Shadow's literally right next to him in the last scene, and thus he has no need to substitute his presence.

In fact, he seems to catch himself and stops doing the self-banter thing entirely as soon as Shadow acknowledges him doing it

This Was Presented With A Very Whimsical Tone And I Enjoyed It For That But Also. It's Such A Specific

And he looks surprised when Shadow speaks, too, like he already forgot that other people can hear him. It really comes off like he's in his own little world, and again, this is a show about multiple worlds, so it's pretty fitting.

I'm not letting Shadow's phrasing off the hook, either - "a Sonic," hm? As if there's more than one?

This Was Presented With A Very Whimsical Tone And I Enjoyed It For That But Also. It's Such A Specific

Even Sonic gets confused about how many of him there are, which has quite the loaded implication for how short of a moment it is; something that could describe everything about this form, honestly.

It all gives me this impression that we're not quite done with this concept of there being multiple Sonics, or at least not done with this form being used in general. There's a lot of potential in what they've already set up for it, and I'd love to see it explored further.

Plus, this one frame of Sonic after he first gets it still gives me the impression that there's something... off about it

And I want to know what that something is

Another Nine Analysis: This Time on His Character Design

I honestly don't know what to say, I've got this guy on the brain lately. I've done an analysis of his name and the possible symbolism, and I've done an analysis of why he's so liked, and I might continue to do analysis on him because he's just that interesting.

This time however I want to focus on his character design. Aside from being my favorite character design in the series, I think it reflects Nine himself and holds some possible foreshadowing as well.

Another Nine Analysis: This Time On His Character Design

(Aw I never noticed this, his tails are all puffed up!)

First, let's focus on the color scheme.

A heavy tone of dark colors is found all over his design of black, silver, grey, pale blue, and yellow lines, the only bright color being the pale orange of his fur and the white on his gloves and muzzle.

The dark colors emphasize a sense of intimidation and mystery to him. The black on his shoes, glove, and shorts can leave viewers in suspense and unsure about him. The grey on his shirt does the same as well.

While the blue and yellow help offset the darker colors I also think there were reasons it was these two colors. The blue might reflect the hidden sadness and loneliness he has, and the yellow could reflect his universal bond with Sonic. (the yellow ribbon of friendship)

I like how his gloves are different. One is fully white with silver undertones, while the other is mostly black; it adds to his moral ambiguity. Both a little bit of good and a little bit of bad. Perfectly neutral.

Another thing I want to point out that others haven't noticed is how pale and dull his fur is compared to Prime! Tails, and the other Tails as well, are not as vibrant as the others. Kinda interesting.

There's also a darker tip and his ears are longer as well, which I think reflects his role as the most mature Tails.

His eyes are a more greyish blue than the baby blues Tails had.

His tails, the organic ones are less fluffy and limper. Which makes sense since he probably uses his metal tails more.

Finally his metal tails, the silver and grey tails he uses. He keeps them out all the time, seeing everything and everyone as a danger, he uses them to cover up his tails, showing he's still insecure about them so he hides them. To him they're a sense of safety and protection, to others they're deadly weapons of destruction.

I also like how his shirt covers his chest fur, covers his heart. He closed off from everyone and hides his emotions so it makes sense. I also find the way his hair (bangs I guess) sticks up forming a curious hairstyle (though I can't find any information about hairstyles like that, nor can I see if it's a symbol for something). (and again, his ears have darkened tips while the hair doesn't, another reflection of ambiguity)

I also like how his muzzle fur droops compared to the other Tails, looks like a grumpy cat XD. Very fitting for grumpy Tails.

Another thing is his belt, I couldn't see it clearly but I do know that there's a kind of button or buckle that controls the tails when pressed, and it's a pale blue with what looks like a swirly shape on it.

Nine's outfit is very bleak and dark. While it is an "emo" attire, it also gives off a sense of mourning or deep loneliness/sadness. Which I think is very fitting. This Tails was always alone, and when he made weapons to fight back against his abusers, he wasn't joyful or cocky. All of that was beaten out of him. Instead, he was serious and jaded. Nine has a great feeling of mourning in his character, which again I think is genius of how reflective it is in his character design.

It is mournful because this was a character we were already so invested in, and because of how cold and broken Nine is, having been abused and beaten to the point of numbness and distrust of everything/everyone around him. Whoever designed him knew that, that's why this design was chosen.

And why it's genius. Not just because it resonates with the audience, but also because it reflects the tragedy of this character.

Sonic Prime Theory: On Shadow This Time!

I know, it's not Nine! I'm surprised too, but this popped into my head and I think I have an idea of why Shadow can communicate with Sonic and can't go into the worlds.

Sonic Prime Theory: On Shadow This Time!

Remember when Sonic shattered the Prism, that Shadow protected himself by Chaos Controlling? The energy of the emerald while it protected Shadow it also REJECTED the power of the Prism.

This might be why Shadow can't enter the other worlds because he has an emerald that rejects its effects of it! It just doesn't allow him to, because the energy of the Prism most likely contrasts against the Chaos energy of the emerald. Also, remember how the power of the Chaos emerald affects the user of it? Yeah.

In the context of Shadow being able to communicate with Sonic, again it might have to do with the emerald.

Sonic Prime Theory: On Shadow This Time!

Shadow might have also been able to see what happens if Sonic shatters the Prism also because he had the emerald in his possession.

Although why he was looking for it is beyond me. He does use it constantly in any adaptation of Sonic with him in it though so, there's that possible reason that he just searches for it because he wants to teleport and shit (and...I'd honestly do the same thing ngl).

But it saved Shadow from being affected by the Prism so it was worth it.

Also, the fact that Chaos emeralds show up when they're needed might explain why it was in a random rock.

Also apparently Chaos emerald can also "sense" people's thoughts. Shadow wanted to communicate with Sonic, and Sonic was the only one other than him that wasn't affected by the Prism (at least from what I can tell).

Shadow didn't want to be affected by the Prism shattering so the emerald protected him and itself.

Shadow however didn't seem to want to know the future, but the emerald might have warned him what was about to happen so he could stop it.

The reason why Shadow wasn't affected by the Prism might also be the reason why he can't do anything in the void, due to the different worlds being created by pieces of the prism, might be why he can communicate with Sonic (it also might be because Sonic can also harness the Chaos energy), and it saved him because it was trying to warn him.

Idk, 's just a random theory but it fills in all the holes in my opinion. It's also better than just being "ShaDoW waS JuSt TheRe FoR The FaNs aNd The PloT". He's there for a reason, and that's why I love his depiction in Prime, there's a legitimate reason why he does things other than him just being a plot device and an angry edge lord.

Why he punched Sonic in the beginning? 1. Sonic doesn't even listen to his friends, what would make him listen to his rival? 2. Shadow quite literally has to knock sense into Sonic to make him stop and 3. let's all face it, Shadow's not the best at communicating, especially with someone as hyperactive and bad at listening as Sonic.

Why he tries to communicate with Sonic? Sonic is the only one he can communicate with, not to mention, Sonic broke the world.

They put so much more purpose and depth into him and I LOVE it!

Woah…

So you're saying it's up to NINE to determine the ending, what he picks will affect EVERYTHING. Not just how the story will end, not just EVERY CHARACTER, but the fate of the WORLD, what's essentially the UNIVERSE lies in HIS hands, NOT Sonic's. Sonic can retrieve the shard, but it's up to NINE to fix them. It's up to Nine to determine their fates. Sure Sonic might be the overall protagonist, but there's a REASON WHY everyone states that Nine is the second protagonist.

Think about it, Sonic broke the world, but only Nine can restore it. Sure we might see things mostly from Sonic's perspective, but Nine's arc is VERY important as well (perhaps even MORE important than Sonic's, and I'll get to that) as it determines the fate of the WORLD we know and love, Sonic doesn't know how to restore it, but Nine can.

Sonic KICKED OFF THE PLOT, and Nine's actions determine HOW IT ENDS. They both play HUGE roles, and they're the only ones in the story with HUGE roles like this. I know we saw that Shadow might be important as well, but he didn't start the plot like Sonic did, nor can he resolve the main conflict of the world SHATTERING. And the other characters aren't as important to how the plot gets finally resolved.

Now I said that Nine might be even MORE IMPORTANT than Sonic, and there's a reason for that. Sure Sonic started it, and sure he's that leading character, but while he will develop, he can't fix the world like Nine seemingly can. Sonic BROKE the world, now it's up for Nine to FIX it. This might be a call back to the simple dynamic between the two, Sonic usually smashes Eggman bots, and Tails creates machines to aid and help them.

Sonic breaks what Tails fixes.

As for the need to extract the Prism energy from Sonic, again Nine might be the only one who can figure out how to do it without KILLING Sonic, unlike the council who could care less about whether he lives or dies. Because, well, Nine doesn't want Sonic dead for anything. I read some theories that Nine only used Sonic for the energy he has, for the Shards, and I strongly disagree.

I won't deny that Nine probably WANTS the shards, not because he's obsessed with them (like Thorn and Dread were), but because it can lead to a better future for him AND Sonic. Let's not forget he took SONIC with him to the Grim. Some people think he wants to build a world in his own image or that he doesn't need Sonic but again I disagree, maybe more HEAVILY. Nine wants a better world sure, but not in his own image, just one where he can have the things Sonic described to him: happiness, palm trees, love, care, and blissfulness.

I think Nine DOES need Sonic, but more emotionally. Sonic was kind to him, Sonic treated him like a FRIEND (something he NEVER had before), Sonic can bring out the more good side that still strives (albeit weakly) from within.

Sonic is his emotional crutch just like he was for Tails, but even MORE so.

Some things never change, even if they sometimes break your heart...

Nine isn't just an "emo" Tails, he's not just a variant. He's

VERY important the to plot.

While he's still a variant of Tails, he's more IMPORTANT and EXPLORED than the other variants and genuinely hard to read.

A broken, bitter, sardonic child with NOTHING and NO ONE to lose before he meets Sonic.

(If the theory that the characters were shattered as well is true) He's quite possibly the embodiment of Tail's EMOTIONAL NEED, PROTECTIVENESS, and possibly LOVE for Sonic.

This was an awesome post to read, and I hope you don't mind me sharing my opinions! I agree that Nine might be the key to ending everything, and he can't have a villain arc without a redemption arc because of that. But things might get worse before they get better, but he'll come around eventually (I hope...).

OH! NOT TO MENTION, NINE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO KNOWS HOW TO HARNESS THE SHARDS!!! He's DEFINITELY the key to EVERYTHING.

One last thing that establishes Nine to be EXTREMELY important and might be a MASSIVE foreshadowing. While Sonic went through space and everyone said their lines, he goes through the portal to New Yolk, and everything goes silent, seemingly being the last of the character's lines. The screen goes WHITE, and TAILS is the last one and ONLY one to speak when it DOES. What does he say?

"NOTHING could break our FRIENDSHIP, Sonic."

"If there's anyone who's got the brains to put back the prism, it's you."

"That's the first thing you've said that I agree with."

FIRJDHEBEHJFHF WHY AREN'T WE TALKING ABOUT THIS DIALOGUE EXCHANGE?!

The little canon hint that only Nine can figure out how to fix things. It'll be his choice that can change everything in the end. I don't think they'll be giving him a villain arc without a redemption arc if he's the only character who can fix things. Shadow cannot leave the void, CC are all villains, Sonic cannot touch the shards (though there's this wee bit plot point of him being able to harness the energy of the prism that he absorbed), everybody else doesn't understand the science or working of the prism, this leaves Nine. Extremely important character, this angsty little fellow.

Wait, hold on, Sonic has a bunch of Paradox energy inside him. The energy that hit him and he wasn't affected by like the others because he absorbed it. Wouldn't that mean he'd have to return that energy to fix his world? The energy he has is from the prism as it shattered, it belongs to the Paradox Prism. What if... The Prism needs the energy Sonic has to be whole again? The energy that CC had been trying to extract. How would that affect Sonic?

The Bittersweetness of Sonic Prime

You know when I go back and rewatch the episodes of this show because of how it ended, and because of its interesting story, I realize how horribly bittersweet it is.

Usually, Sonic stories have epic adventure stories or happy positive feelings but Prime is just...bittersweet. It gets even worse when you remember the ending of the first batch, which leaves SOO many interpretations.

Sure, there's some action here and there, but the main focus is the characters and their feelings. It's not about the fights or good vs evil, it's just about getting home, and trying to find light in a pitch-black room.

Hope.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

Which makes the ending of the first batch worse. Home doesn't exist anymore, Sonic broke it. The way they handle Sonic's character is actually well done in my opinion. He's bubbly, positive, and cocky, but ultimately well-meaning, and unconditionally kind. There are some things he says that are annoying, but nothing too bad. Nothing too unwatchable.

I absolutely enjoy it when they put flaws instead of making Sonic a perfect hero like they usually do. He's more real, and easier to get attached to. He's immature, but he is still a teen, still growing and learning about the world.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

The other characters are really good too. And one thing Prime does is show deep empathy for its characters. Each character has more depth to them, and when they express distressed feelings, you can understand and feel it. At times, you can even relate to their pain.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

(The way he poses XD, he knows he's a bad bitch)

And I couldn't use this pic without this one.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

(Period. End of discussion)

Shadow is another really well-done character, not an overly edgy asshole, but a cold person with a hidden heart of gold. He's standoffish to Sonic, and most likely his friends, but his and Sonic's fighting probably is nothing but competitive sport. Not to mention their fighting ACTUALLY MADE SENSE. Shadow saw Sonic was going to do some stupid shit again, except this time he would break the WORLD, so naturally, he tried to stop it.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

Of course, he was going to fight Sonic, the blue bitch doesn't even listen to his friends. Of course, he's going to literally knock some sense into him the first chance he sees him, he broke THEIR HOME.

I agree Shadow could've tried to talk to Sonic, but again would Sonic have listened? Not to mention, Shadow is...a complicated person when it comes to communication.

The variants of the main characters are really good as well. Each of them has goals, ideals, and sides. Of course, there's one that stands out to me, and if you've seen my posts you know who it is.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

I can't NOT talk about Nine! He's just so interesting and well-written. The show emphasizes a LOT of mystery around him. Like we KNOW this is another version of Tails, but what happened after he took the shard? How did he see Sonic? What did he discover about Prism's power and how to harness that power? What is going on in his head?!

We'll have to wait for these questions to be answered in the second batch, but he's still very fun to watch. In my opinion, he's not only the best character in Prime, but he's also the most bittersweet in the Sonic Franchise. when Sega tries to write a bittersweet character, it's either too sad or too happy, too edgy or too go-lucky, but Nine is a perfect in-between.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

Nine is edgy done right, I am so sorry Shadow SEGA ruined you, and has moments where he's happy too. He's just a very complex and interesting character.

It's hilarious that "emo Tails" written by Netflix is better than any other edgy character SEGA made up. When he blows up or becomes cold, it's understandable.

Attacking Sonic the first moment he meets him? Sonic called him something he was abused for YEARS for, so naturally, he thought Sonic was another "bully". Taking the shard over helping the rebels? He watched the only person he ever bonded with get sucked into this shard, he never bonded with any of the rebels anyway. Doing it again when there was a battle? It wasn't his problem, it was the rebels' he was only working with them because he was helping Sonic anyway.

However, back to the topic, all of the variants Sonic bonds with reminds him of his friends back home, so yeah, he helped and bonded with them, but he doesn't belong in that world. Except his world is destroyed, his home where his REAL friends are, his friends that he mentioned are what make his home, home.

If he does manage to get all of the Paradox Prism together, those worlds and those variants will likely disappear. The variants would go through the equivalent of dying. They'll become one again, but they'll cease to be nothing more than mere traits, they won't be alive anymore, and they won't be their own person anymore. They'll cease to be, nothing more than the shards they are.

No matter what, how happy they are, or how satisfying the conclusion is, they will still have to "die", all just to become a shard of someone who will never know they existed. No matter how optimistic you look at it, it will have a pang of heartbreak.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

And I think the chance of them remembering is highly unlikely because it would take away from the main theme of Prime. This isn't about them learning something, it's SONIC, and probably Shadow. If they remember it would kinda ruin the main tone of this show.

If anything, they'll just think it was a simple dream and think nothing of it. Because that's all it was to them, not a deep journey, not a meaningful bonding, just a weird dream that they don't need to think about ever again.

What will the varients think of that? What will NINE think of his worth? Nine and every other variant are just copies, things that aren't as important as the real thing. They aren't worth much, they're just variants, just "shards". With how Nine suffered, with how much Nine WANTS, I don't think he's just going to overlook it and help.

The Bittersweetness Of Sonic Prime

I also think that with his villain arc will come another solution. Another way the world can be restored is without simply converting him, mashing him up with the other meaningless shards, and becoming the real Tails. Another way where he won't be just some shard.

And to be honest, if there's another way that involves Nine going crazy but getting his way, getting to be HAPPY, while restoring the world and bringing everyone back without having to "die", I'm DOWN.

Some people hope there will be a redemption arc, and so do I, I'm hoping that the thing I mentioned just now will be it. Redemption is not always happy, it can be sad or bittersweet. When he does get that, it'll most likely be the harshest bittersweet ending of all.

I keep reading posts that Nine is a good boi or going to be a villain, but I want to say something that needs to be clarified, Nine isn't a good person, but he's not a bad one either, he's simply a kid, and we CANNOT forget that.

He's just a kid with NOTHING to lose, and when he finally finds something to be worth living for, he's never going to have it (unless he does things his own way).

There are some quotes from other Sonic games that I think fit well with what I'm trying to say that sum up ALL these characters, especially Sonic and Nine. All of these were said by Sonic btw.

"Don't be afraid to accomplish your dreams."

"When you want to do something, do it right away. Do it when you can. It's the only way to live life without regrets."

“Every world has its end. I know that’s kinda sad, but that’s why we gotta live life to the fullest in the time we have.”

“If the world chooses to become my enemy, I will fight like I always have!” -(Actually stated by Shadow, my b)

“I’ll never look back, I’ve got no regrets. Cause time doesn’t wait for me. I choose to go my own way.”

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

Alright, so I really want to talk about how the very concept of Rusty Rose could be even more messed up. So here's a post on our robotic queen <3

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

So you guys are wondering, how can the concept of one of the sweetest Sonic characters becoming nothing more than a robot of destruction, used for 5 dictators' purposes be darker than it already is?

Well, what if I presented the ideas of both lobotomy and body removal, not to mention the mental issues that Rusty has? Yep, we're going to explore that!

First let's speak about body removal, the easier one. Let's take a look at Rusty's design, shall we?

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

She has no real body parts save for her head, and only by a little. Her arms and legs have clearly been removed as well as the rest of her body, including her organs, which is horrifying. Even her hair is nothing more than a helmet.

This makes you think, well not ALL of her organs are removed, I mean she still has a heart right?

Well...

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

Yeah, It's not pleasant. She has a flicky in place of a heart which is horrifying, both for the implications that the flicky is being used as an energy source, and that Rusty shows no attachment to it. The only thing that has been saved is a side of her face. The rest of her is nothing but Robo limbs. It's seen in the pirate episodes that Rusty is also waterproof. And in the first two episodes, it's shown she's fireproof.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

In fact, she doesn't even have her other eye, it's just a red dot now. Not to mention her emerald eye, her real eye, looks robotic as well.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

Rusty isn't human anymore. She lost that to the Council, who use her as a tool. Which makes me all the more curious about what the hell happened to make Rusty this way? What made her decide to damage herself to become a killer cyborg?

We probably won't find out until season 2, so I'm just going to go on to my next point.

Lobotomy.

Now I know some of you are saying that what Rusty does is in code, but wouldn't they have to get to her brain in order to do that? Not to mention, Rusty can be programmed to change sides without question. And when that happens her red dot turns to yellow, which is probably just because Nine was the one in control with his signature color of yellow.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose
How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

Rusty doesn't act like the Amy we know, she's cold, apathetic, and robotic. But Rusty shows emotions, but it's just barely expressed. Most of the time she has a stoic frown on her face.

The effects of lobotomy are a change in the subject's personality, emotions, empathy, and ability to function on their own. However, a long-term side effect is a mental dullness.

Lobotomy is a process where the subjects (I'm never saying patient to such a horrible thing) have neural connections between the frontal lobe, a part of the brain that controls the person's memory, emotions, and problem-solving skills severed by a sharp surgical tool.

I think the process Rusty went through was the Transorbital Lobotomy, which is where the process done through the person's eye sockets. Something must've gone wrong or something because her left eye is no longer there. So they replaced it with the grate and dot, which could be something planted inside Rusty's eyesocket (Yeah I know, I'm getting squirmish too).

The effects of transorbital lobotomy (which is used to eliminate excess emotion and stabilize a personality, which the Council might've used to remove any strong emotions) can cause the subject to be childlike and less prone to worry.

Now I know some of you might be saying that Rusty isn't childish, not really, but Rusty's needs to look to others for orders and random bouts of emotions evoke a childlike feel to her. Like she's a child looking to adults for guidance.

This brings me to my last point in this post; Rusty's complex issue.

When it's looked into more, Rusty doesn't seem to serve on the council because she just wants to, it's probably to feel validated or appreciated. Instead of giving herself validation and accepting herself, she undergoes robotic implants and lobotomy to please a group of dictators.

Rusty doesn't love herself.

And when she probably realized earlier her mistake, she gives up on fighting it, instilling a dull and emotionally suppressed mindset (not that it wasn't already). But then Nine programs her to fight for the Rebels, and we see that Rusty's more expressive, more lively than she was.

She expresses herself more because she's not alone anymore.

Then Nine abandons her and the Rebels, and we see this.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose
How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose
How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

When Nine abandons them, Rusty doesn't show shock or surprise; she shows tired disappointment, not at Nine, in fact, she seems to accept his betrayal. In the first picture, her self-disappointment is on full display, she's saddened at the fact that Nine didn't think of her as good enough and left her.

The second picture has her looking down, still sad, still loathing herself.

Then the last one has her finally break into tears, not just at the betrayal, but at her self-thought failure to be useful. She looks angry at herself.

Knuckles is furious, and Rouge is hurt, but Rusty is the one that truly breaks down at that moment. Knuckles and Rouge escape, and we see Rusty. Her sadness was suddenly gone, a small smile on her face.

It's relieved in a way. It shows what Rusty truly thinks. She doesn't want the city to be a punk-dystopian city, she regrets her choice to join the Council, and she wants freedom like the others. But then this happens.

She gets reprogrammed to the Council, and her thoughts are overridden by code and she serves the Council once more. She doesn't look too happy about it either.

Then we'll skip to episode 6, with Nine getting captured. When Mister Dr. Eggman announces that Nine has been captured we see a brief look of some sort of sadness on Rusty.

Only for it to harden.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

Rusty didn't seem happy when the fox she worked under briefly got caught, there's a sense of sadness. Only for it to be squashed down into cold aloofness. She goes back under the Council's plan.

Then in the pirate episode, Rusty sees Black Rose, and both are understandably shocked. Rusty glitches out and refuses to bomb the rest of the ship. Her face as she calls for the robots to stop and her voice both sound panicked.

How Rusty Rose Could Be Darker: Analysis Of A Rusted Rose

She doesn't seem to want to hurt Black Rose for some reason. A reason we'll find out in season 2. Hopefully Black Rose'll make her find peace with herself.

Anyway, this was just another messed up theory, and thank you for reading it! I hope you liked it, and I'll see ya when I come up with another crazy theory.

Sonic Prime theory

So while I had Sonic Prime rotating in my head last night I ended up making a discovery, and with it I think I figured out what the Grim is

Now the discovery I'm talking about is in the screenshot below. But, the gist of it is that every world we've seen, that's some kind of apocalyptic, has a theme that represents a specific character's worst traits amplified to hell in that theme.

In the post, I use the example of how Dread is both Knuckles and a pirate's worst traits in one.

Sonic Prime Theory

----------------------

And this is interesting yes, but how could the Grim be a world?

Well something that I didn't mention is that Sonic's shoes and gloves change when he goes from one world to another.

Now, the Grim's acessories could be how Sonic always looks like when he goes through the void between worlds. And that woundn't make the Grim a world of it's own necessarily.

Except that is disproved in the last episode when Sonic just got out of the pirate world and is in the void with Shadow.

His shoes and gloves are still the same ones from there. They aren't the Grim ones.

And this leads to the question, whose world might the Grim be? I think it's Sonic.

When the PRISM shattered we got lines from all the characters that tie into the world and the version of them that's most prominent with it's theme.

Amy says the forest is a beautiful place - we get Thorn's extreme compassion of nature in the jungle world

Knucles says he doesn't need the details just who to smash - we get Dread who doesn't care for obstacles and other just his goals in the pirate world

Tails says as long as Sonic's with him he knows everything will be all right - we get Nine who, without Sonic, thinks everything is miserable in New Yoke City

We don't get a line from Sonic in this moment, but when the show starts we get a monologue from him that begins with a very interesting line. " Home is where your friends are". Then he continues to explain how even though he lives in Green Hills, which has so many good things, that's just the tip of the iceberg and what truly makes there special is his friends.

So what better world for him then the Grim. In which there is nobody. So even if it had some type of good enviroment in there it wouldn't matter, because his friends aren't there so it could never be home. So the Grim has nothing.

I don't have time to type out the whole theory on this, but still want to get it out :

Eggman was always planning to shatter the Paradox Prism.

I Don't Have Time To Type Out The Whole Theory On This, But Still Want To Get It Out :

This is the last we see of him btw before the Shattering. He's not worried about Sonic shattering the Prism unlike Sonic's friends, he just wants to get to it first. What was happening is that he was trying to get the Prism out of the ground and then Sonic crashed into it. The fact that he was in contact with the Prism (even though through his Mech) could be the reason why all of his Shatterverse counterparts ended up in the Red Shatterverse.

I think what he was planning on is that by shattering the Prism he would end up like Sonic did, full and able to travel the Shatterverse, which would be easier to conquer with Sonic and his friends all being split into parts and having no idea who he is. (I mean in the one Shatterspace where his counterparts do exist they did conquer it so who knows) Unfortunately, Sonic got to it first so he ended up getting shattered himself.

I Don't Have Time To Type Out The Whole Theory On This, But Still Want To Get It Out :

(How would he know how that works? Well he found the Prism itself somehow, and Rouge has been searching for it for years so he clearly has sources)

Sonic Prime Theory

(TLDR at the bottom)

Prime Sonic isn't usually a hugger or rude and never was before the events in the show, he's just so stressed and trying to cope with what he's done that he's mentally trying to replicate how his friends behave to somewhat pretend they're still around. He hugs Nine because Tails would hug him sometimes. When he split up somewhat with the prism, he wasn't becoming different Sonics, he was mimicking how he views his friends. He's not a hugger and usually would hate hugs, but he can't help but resort to this after seeing different versions of his friends but not the real deals anywhere. He hugs Shadow because that's the only piece of his friends he has left and he's just been tossed around from many of his friends who werent...them.

Sonic Prime Theory
Sonic Prime Theory

Without his real friends, he feels like he's missing something and it's unbearable to him and he hasn't addressed it yet. He's projecting, he's joking around, he's getting easily agitated (and thus quick to ruder remarks), he's shaking and struggling to breathe, and he's trying to ground himself by becoming what he feels his friends are like to try and make things feel more normal. But he's not them. He'll never be them, because he only knows his pov of them and doesn't think like them, so it's not working for him and just making him slip up more. Shadow is the only one who can ground him here as one of the pieces to sonic's sense of reality and he can't even be in constant contact with him, he can't always talk to him while in the other worlds like he could with Nine for a good portion of S2.

Sonic Prime Theory

Sonic is trying his best to keep being the Sonic he usually was, the one many know him to be, but he can't even catch a second to process what he's going through and he's snapping a little because the shatterspace was made practically adapted to his mind, including what hurts him most deep down. Like cmon, it can't be a coincidence that he is afraid of/hates water and then we get an entire world where it's all water and everything he loved about his home is submerged where his distaste of water won't let him reach. The shatterspace trying to do exactly what Sonic did to the paradox prism, shattering/breaking him.

Sonic Prime Theory

TLDR: Sonic isn't taking how different each variant of his friends are to his og friends very well, so to cope, he's subconsciously mimicking their og behaviors (like being more affectionate) to try and fill that void/sense that something is missing as he goes along in the show. Getting rude/more reckless bc he's freaking out.
