"We classify people as fools by the following rubric...fools carry with them a different scale of values. They place more importance on short-term matters- grabbing immediate money, getting attention from the public or media and looking good. They are rules by their ego and insecurities. They tend to enjoy drama and political intrigue for its own sake. When they criticize, they always emphasize matters that are irrelevant to the overall picture or argument. They are more interested in their career and position than in the truth. You can distinguish them by how little they get done, or by how hard they make it for others to get results. They lack a certain common sense, getting worked up about things that are not really important while ignoring problems that will spell doom in the long term. The natural tendency with fools is to lower yourself to their level. They annoy you, get under your skin, and draw you into a battle. In the process, you feel petty and confused. You lose a sense of what is really important. You can't win an argument or get them to see your side or change their behavior, because rationality and results don't matter to them. You simply waste valuable time and emotional energy"

An Intro to the Ingenue Archetype: Look Like You Have Stars in Your Eyes

Ingenue (anjəˈno͞o): an innocent or unsophisticated young woman, especially in a play or film.
An ingenue was a type of woman popularized in 1920s silent films. She could be described as a woman who needs assistance from others and can also act like a damsel in distress. By others, she is known as very innocent and beautiful.
How to Look Like You Have Stars in your Eyes
1. Practice looking towards the sky or ceiling when you think, if you don’t already.
When you look up as you think, you’ll look a sweet and insightful.
2. Change your facial emotions to a more positive expression.
Have a small jovial look on your face so you’ll be portrayed as a happy person.
3. Look in your intended direction with a softened expression and peaceful look in your eyes.
For subliminal inspiration, listen to “Little Girls from Little Rock” from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.
4. Watch your expression and “stars” in your eyes if you have a feeling you look like you’re lost.
Your eyes are full of warmth and wonder, so that means you’re not an airhead or confused about where you are.
5. Practice until a hopeful look in your eyes becomes natural.
Once it becomes natural, you’ll be able to switch from several faces from different archetypes.
July 2024 Reading List 📚🎧☕
Done:
Beartown by Fredrik Backman (Finally found the time to start and finish, not really what I was expecting when it was first recommended but a solid read overall).
Geisha: A Life by Mineko Iwasaki. (An interesting read, although I found the structure and content a little all over the place is some areas.)
Current:
Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (opted for the english translation because the orginal may cause me to give up on german)
The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Maybe this is the month when I finally finish this book. I fear this may turn into the Master and Margarita situation, except there's no cat this time)
To-read:
The Twins by Saskia Sarginson (re-reading this again, this is a solid summer read)
Confucianism: The 4 Books and 5 classics (This one may take a while, almost 3000 pages)
As usual, feel free to drop some recommendations please!
