my april tbr

My April Tbr
My April Tbr

i have been consumed by fredrik backman's books and i read beartown and us against you last month so i'm speeding though the winners. i literally cannot get enough of these characters and i'm going to be so upset when i finish these books

but i am slowly making my way through the pjo series. they're adorable and i'm lowkey sad that i wasn't able to read them when i was younger. i'm glad i could dice into that universe now though!

and of course stephen king, my peepaw, my favorite man. i'm about 40ish pages through thinner and from what i remember of the movie its not entirely the same idk tho bc that was literally forever ago

and lastly the audio books! i have abt 16 minutes left of horrorstor and it's going okay, not my favorite but i really do feel for the mc, amy. i am also aiming to get through how to sell a haunted house since i enjoyed grady hendrix's other work, my best friend's exorcism in the past

that's all i have really but feel free to let me know what you're planning on reading this month!

book tracker update

Book Tracker Update

this year i've been tracking my reviews of books in a crochet blanket i'm making and here is my march update.

so far i've only had three, four, and five stars which, to me anyway, means it's been a pretty good reading year so far. i honestly cannot complain much, last year i had a few one and two stars and even a dnf so this year is better than i expected.

here is the color chart:

dark green: 5 stars

cream: 4 stars

gray: 3 stars

tan: 2 stars

sage green: 1 star

month change: white

reading update

Reading Update

small reading update for the day.

i'm about halfway through the winners, it has been going a bit slow for me but i honestly just think i'm in a physical reading slump and i'm trying to push through it. ugh.

next, i just started how to sell a haunted house by grady hendrix and im about an hour into it and its pretty good. i really like the buildup so far and the brother mark is so sus i feel like he has smth to do with the parents' death. idk though but that is my theory so far!

anyway, feel free to let me know what you're currently reading if you'd like or just let me know if you've read either of these so far!

until next time! probably tomorrow

Books that changed the way my brain works:

Psalm for the Wild Built, Becky Chambers

The Anthropocene Reviewed, John Green

The Secret Life of Bees, Sue Monk Kidd

Underland, Robert Macfarlane

The Once and Future Witches, Alix E. Harrow

Beartown, Fredrik Backman

A Man Called Ove, Fredrik Backman

There’s definitely more, these are just the ones I could remember in a few minutes

More on these to come I’m sure

March 2024 Reading List 📚🎧☕

Done:

All the light we cannot see by Anthony Doerr (Decided to re-read this before giving the mini-series a go. A brilliant but sad book imo.)

Current:

The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov (I gave up on the original version and switched to the English translation, Russian literature: 1, Me: 0)

To-read:

48 Laws of Power by Robert Green (I still haven't gotten around to finding the time to read this)

Beartown by Fredrik Backman ( I decided to restart reading it, as I was quite busy at the time and lost the hang of the plot)

女人就是要有钱/ Women just want money by 刘忆如 - Liú Yìrú (My first proper book in Chinese! This book appears to be a self-help/financial advice book and judging by the plot description it's definitely worth reading - I have an online copy for those interested btw! The target audience seems to be for those in their 30s so I guess I'm getting an early head start)

Classes have started so I'm taking this month easy whilst I try to ease back into my usual routine. But do feel free to recommend me some books for April please!

July 2024 Reading List 📚🎧☕

Done:

Beartown by Fredrik Backman (Finally found the time to start and finish, not really what I was expecting when it was first recommended but a solid read overall).

Geisha: A Life by Mineko Iwasaki. (An interesting read, although I found the structure and content a little all over the place is some areas.)

Current:

Faust by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (opted for the english translation because the orginal may cause me to give up on german)

The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene (Maybe this is the month when I finally finish this book. I fear this may turn into the Master and Margarita situation, except there's no cat this time)

To-read:

The Twins by Saskia Sarginson (re-reading this again, this is a solid summer read)

Confucianism: The 4 Books and 5 classics (This one may take a while, almost 3000 pages)

As usual, feel free to drop some recommendations please!
