I'm 100% certain that this point has been brought up before, but if the V3 twist concerning Tsumugi allegedly writing character arcs and quirks for her classmates is true, I wonder if Kokichi having feelings for Shuichi would have been something Tsumugi added to his character like Maki's feelings for Kaito.
Now I'm thinking of a what if scenario where Kokichi would have been one of the characters to live till the final trial and Tsumugi breaking the news to him. I wonder how Kokichi would react...go fanfic writers, go!
i love when saiouma trust each other. it's such a simple thing but i can't help but be fascinated with the trust between saiouma, specifically on Kokichi's end.
there's just something about someone with as bad of paranoia and trust issues as Kokichi has deciding to openly trust someone. i tend to show this in my hc by utilizing the fact that people don't know fuck about him- not even the most basic small talk type info- and having him be someone who cares alot about his privacy to the point he hides the most mundane shit from people unless it's 100% necessary for them to know.
then when it comes to saiouma, i image him giving Shuichi this mundane information as a display of trust, and Shuichi in turn making an effort to not share any of it with anyone to show he can be trusted. Kokichi definitely assumed with how nosy Shuichi's friends are and how much Shuichi wants his friends to understand Kokichi, the information wouldn't be secret for long, but Shuichi's refusal to let any of it slip both surprised him and flustered him. he wasn't expecting his admittedly overboard and weirdly paranoid privacy to be taken so seriously
in turn ofc Kokichi is very serious about Shuichi's privacy too, even if Shuichi says it's okay to tell someone else about something he still refuses because it makes him feel like he's returning the favor
i just love them and their trust in one another, no matter how mundanely it's displayed it's such a big deal
Ngl if you watch/play any scene where Kaito and Shuichi talk to eachother and replace the word "sidekick" with "boyfriend" it doesn't really change the scene at all
Like I'm not the biggest fan of saimota (I tend to go for either saioumota or just oumota/saiouma yk) but you really can't play/watch the game without seeing their blatant homosexual potential

i like Kokichi being the one to propose, it feels right to me and i like the idea of him doing it as a way to show how deep his trust for Shuichi is
what's the most Kokichi way to propose tho? despite the meaning behind it it can't just be some sappy direct shit, that's not how Kokichi does things

perhaps he spends a couple months trying and failing to propose without chickening out, the thought of being so direct and unironically getting down on one knee freaking him out a bit. perhaps he wakes up one morning and thinks "i need to stop being a coward, i gotta do something that'll make me push past the fear and do it" and then he gets a bright ass idea
while Shuichi's still conked the fuck out (cause i hc Kokichi wakes up eariler and Shuichi's a heavy sleeper) he slips the ring on Shuichi's finger and waits for him to wake up and realize it's there. because it's such a nice ring there's no way either will be able to brush it off as a prank and Kokichi will have sucessfully cornered himself into getting over himself and proposing
i have a DICE au pitch
au where DICE is an online friend group and they each really only know one or two other members irl. they still commit crimes together but the way they do it is one- super hard to track thanks to Kokichi's planning, two- done in a way that has convinced the police there's way more of them than there actually is, and three- planned entierly online and makes the most out of them living in different areas of Japan
the police are thinking DICE is this broad network criminal orginization with a mysterious MO that they believe might be someone trying to make a statement, especially with the way they seem to love making a fool out of the police with actual slapshtick gags and traps. they're sure that at the bare minimum this group's numbers are above 30 and they suspect there's even more who are in charge of the subordinates who actually commit the crimes
in actuality they're an online group of 10 very careful teens fucking around for the thrill and dodging the find out by pieing it in the face
bonus points: if you want to bring saiouma into this, might i suggest Shuichi being the one to find out DICE's actual size, but because he's a private investigator who possibly maybe has some beef with the cops- he ain't gonna say shit to them and instead goes to investigate DICE without them knowing
